Hello everybody!
Im so glad that I found this site. It will be so nice talking to other pregnant, non pregnant and new moms out there. This is my first pregnancy and my husband and I can not be more excited. We are expecting a baby boy in feburary and every day i am getting more and more impatient.I had a very rough first trimester. I was diagnosed with severe morning sickness and had to be hospitalized 3 times. Thank god it stopped at 14 weeks. The second trimester so far has been a breezy and I love watching my belly grow and feel my little man move.
Well i am half way through my third trimester and so far have only had bump in the road. On 12/26 I started having intense menstral like cramping after standing for long periods of time. I thought maybe it was just the position of the baby because once I sat down they went away. Well the next day after being at work and on my feet for about 4 hours it happened again. So I called and spoke to a nurse who spoke to the oncall doctor and they wanted me to go to L&D to get checked out. Once I got there they hooked me up to the monitors and guess what I was having contractions. Majority of them I couldn `t feel. So they gave me an injection to stop the contractions and then monitored me for a couple of more hours. They checked my cervix and it was still closed which was a relief. Before I was sent home I had two more but not as frequent as the others so they gave me another shot sent me home and advised bedrest. Four days later I followed up with my doctor and he said everything was fine. He said it is normal to have contractions at this stage however the amount I was having was not. He told me that i was done working and that i need to continue bedrest for another week. So here I sit. I can `t wait to see my little man but I am hoping that he stays in there for a little bit longer. '

My little man arrived 2 weeks early. He was born Feb 1st 2008 at 12:05 am. I was in labor a total of 28 hours. I started having contractions on Wed 1/30 at 8:00pm. They were about 10min apart. By the time I went to the hospital at eleven they were every 5min apart. However I was barely dialated 1cm. So they sent me home to labor there and told me to get some rest and take Tyenol to ease the pain. They didn't want to see me back until my contractions were 2-3min apart for 2 hours straight. Haaa who are they kidding. By the time we got home it was about 2am. Trying to time your contractions and sleep is difficult because i was so tired that by the time the contraction woke me up it was at its peak but they were about 3 to 5 min apart. Finally I had enough and got out of bed at 7am to make toast and wake up my husband. It seemed that walking made them worse yet it was more comfortable since my contractions seem to strart in my rectum then my abdomen then finish in my back. By the time 10am came around I was exhausted so I called my doctor and he wanted me to go to L&D to get re-evaluated. To my surprise my contractions slowed down again to ever 4-5min once we got there and I was only 2cm dialated. I told the nurse I did not want to go back home. My awsome nurse called my doctor and they decided to admit me. They stuck me in the jacuzzi tub to labor there and it was amazing it helped me relax and it took a lot of the pain away from the contractions. I was in there an hour and when I got out the nurse hooked me up to an IV and then gave me a dose of Stadol to help take the edge off the pain and help me sleep.
The stadol only worked a couple of hours and I woke up to feeling contractions again. However I was shocked when the nurse said my contractions had basically slowed down to every 6 to 8 min. All I could think in my head was please don't send me home I didn't come all this way to go home. But they didn't lucky for me once I was awake more my contractions came back and were every 3-4 min. Then nurse came back in at 5pm and checked me I was 4-5 cm dialated and 75% effaced. YEAH. So I labored more and about a couple hours later I was given another dose of Stadol. This time I woke up to the doctor coming in telling me they wanted to break my water. So at that point I requested an epidural but I had to wait about an hour. At this point my contractions were every 2-3min apart and very intense. I finally got the epidural at 7pm. As they were putting the epidural in they realized they forgot to check me first I told them to go ahead and just put it in. They checked me after and I was 7-8cm. I feel asleep again after the epidural and woke up about 10pm. The nurse checked me again and I was at 9cm almost 10. She checked me again at 11:00pm and she said it was time to push.
Now here comes the best part. My contractions once again decied to slow down once again. So i ended up pushing for an hour because my contraction were every 5-8min apart again. Instead of every 2-3min like they should have been. He should have been out in 15min according to my mom but instead he took an hour. I will never forget the feeling of the final push.
