I can't believe how much she has grown. I met a woman today with her two week old, and I was shocked at the difference between our babies. Lily was that tiny not so long ago! Now she is smiling and laughing, and holding her head up... It is amazing.

Lily has arrived! December 29,2007 at 4:41 pm. We are overjoyed!

I am 31 years old, and happily expecting my first child! Scott and I got married in February and wasted no time! We feel so lucky to have gotten pregnant so quickly. Our due date is December 27!

She just started doing that this week. Before that, I had to stay with her, and rub her head while she fell asleep. I wish i could take credit for something I did, but she started doing it on her own.

It is pretty much a result of NCSS. When Ben did it before it was kind of a fluke. But now, we put him down drowsy and he usually goes right to sleep ... in fact, he often goes to sleep when we put him down wide awake! It's sooooo nice.

LOL! It didn't happen...Bella has a habit of rolling too much when she's tired and she always rolls herself into an impossible position that she cant get herself out of...then she cries. I had to stand at her crib and physically keep her from rolling as she fell asleep. Crazy baby!

I feel the same in so many ways! I will be feeling really good for a few days and then suddenly I am caught in the downward spiral. I think it is the huge mood swing and emotional "over"reaction that is really the problem. I have to say that I relate soooo much to the feeling resentful at your dh over his freedom. I get really pissed (probably way more then I should) when he calls me after work saying he is going for a few drinks with the guys from work. I just want to tell him "Um, hello! I have been counting the hours for you to come home and rescue me from my whiney baby and give me a bit of a break and now you are going to go drinking and come home 15 minutes before he goes to bed..great". Sometimes I don't think he gets that I don't get downtime. I don't get to go for drinks at the spur of the moment. Everytime I go out it requires a bunch of prep and planning to ensure Gavin is taken care of. I also really relate to the then feeling guilty and having that get you down. The guilt of my overreactions, frustrations and crappy moods always seems to get me into a deeper funk. Bleh, it is an endless cycle. I have decided that I need to just plan some time out for myself and mark it on the calender and just stick with it. I am going to try to go back and do some aquasize at the local pool. It will help me get back into shape and I think it is a fun time. I still don't know many people in our neighborhood so hopefully it will help me get to know some people as well. The isolation is starting to get to me as well...maybe it is time I succumb to joining a mom&tots group. Hope you are having a good day. I guess we really need to take it one day at a time. Are you still thinking of talking to your doctor about how you are feeling?

I wonder if there's a way for you to add Maria-time into your routine? When I was on maternity leave, my MIL came over pretty much every Tuesday and Friday at 11 so I could go to the gym. Now that Ben is a little older, I'm thinking about taking a yoga class every week and having Mark stay with the baby. We also alternate weekend mornings to get up with the baby, and the other person can do whatever they want (this morning was my turn - I did yoga and read a book!). For me, I think it has to be previously scheduled and part of the routine, or else it's too easy to not do it and for other things to "come up"! If your dh has a regular work schedule, maybe he could give you a 3 or 4 hour chunk of time each week where you can do absolutely anything you want - no housework or cooking or anything like that - and he will take Lily off your hands. I read a book called "Babyproofing your Marriage," and the main message I took from it was that you should do something that revitalizes you at least a couple times a week or else you'll burn out and start griping at each other (which is exactly what happens with DH and I if I don't get my me-time ... he's happy to do it now because he knows I'll be a Bi*** if I don't get some time to relax, LOL!!)

maria, I'll probably post the PPD info on your page tonight or tomorrow, busy Sunday!

lisareader - Sunday, 20 July
Hmmm ... I think the difference is just in your ability to function. If you're sad and irritable sometimes but can still function normally - sleeping regularly (well, as much as the baby will allow!!), eating like you used to, enjoying the same sorts of things when you can get away for a bit - then it's just emotions. But if the emotions interfere with daily life - not getting out of bed, not responding to Lily's cries, not taking an interest in things you usually do, not sleeping at night because you're anxious, etc. - that's PPD. For example, here is a link to one of the most well-known PPD scales:http://www.dbpeds.org/articles/detail.cfm?TextID=485. If you score it and it's above 10, that's possible PPD.

I believe PPD can technically start anytime within one year of giving birth ...
