BIRTH STORY

Contractions started on Thursday afternoon. By 11.30pm they were getting pretty bad, so i called the birthcentre to say i wanted to come in. Can you believe it, they couldn't take me as they only had one midwife on. I had been prepared for this, so i said i would stay at home. I had bought a pool and we started putting it up and called community midwife

Laboured throughout the night in the pool, which was great, but by 8am was still only 9cm dilated and starting to feel the urge to push. Got out the pool and tried to push, this went on for an hour and a half and he wasn't coming down at all. In the end I just couldn't go on and the midwife called an ambulance.

So they rushed me to the hospital, by now, screaming in agony. I have to say thinking about it now, it was terrifying and must have been so frightening for James to see me like that and not able to help. I was just pleading with them to make it stop, so they gave me a spinal. Oh my god, i have never felt so much relief in my life, i was almost euphoric!!!

Anyway, they wheel me off to theatre, in comes James in scrubs and i'm lying there legs in stirrups, but happy, numb from the chest down. They did an episiotomy and then got baby out using forceps, and there he was! Amazing. Turns out the cord was round his neck and every time i pushed the cord pulled him back up again!! They were ready to do a c section if they needed to, i had no idea about that at the time!

He had done a poo just before he was born and had some in his mouth, so we had to stay in for 24 hours just to make sure he was ok, which is was.

Was he worth it? yes. Would i do it again? Not without all the drugs
in the world!! Never thought i'd hear myself say that but i couldn't go through something like that again, epidural please!!

My name is Marie. My partner James and I have been together for just over a year and a half, but have known each other since college. It took us a long time to get together, but when we finally did we knew it was meant to be. We knew from day one we wanted to have a family together, but thought we should wait until we'd been together for a year. I thought i might have problems conceiving, having been diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 19 and always suffering from irregular periods. But to our joy and amazement I conceived first time!!

Hiya me too my lap top gets on well with facebook, I'm on there as Natalie Cailes-Gentry look me up and request me, I would look you up but I have no idea how, I'm rubbish I know, lol!!!!!Its great to hear from you though and glad all is going well! I can't believe Noah is 6 months already, today we went to his 2nd swimming class (he loves the water!) and he is already swimming underwater, I think I have a little fish on my hands,lol!!!!!! Uggh..this teething phase is awful for the both of us! He has no problems sleeping but it's getting him to sleep that is a mission for Robin and myself! He's in such good spirits when he's had his sleep! Wel done you for breast feeding this long..I tried SO hard but he wasn't co operating and the midwife told me to express and top up with formula as I didn't make enough (due to him not cooperating!) I breast fed for 4 weeks and then expressed for a few weeks after that. So he's been on formula since Xmas. I have days like that...especially when I haven't slept and he won't go to sleep all day AND I'm teaching! Ho hum. I do hope you feel better this afternoon sweety....we've all been there! Good to hear Alex is doing so well. He looks gorgeous! :) Just want to squeeze and cuddle them all the time. I kiss Tyelan SO much I just can't get enough of him lol! Tyelan giggles loads now aswell he's so much fun when he's not over tired and grouchy! I don't get it...when they're overtired they just don't want to sleep! However can't complain he's been sleeping through the night since he was 7 weeks old :) So far so good! How's your sleeping patterns? Does he sleep through? lots of love and lots of kisses to Alex :)xxx

Aahhh he's SO blooming cute! He looks just like you! :) Funny...we put Tyelan in his door bouncer for the first time today...it's the same as yours! He loved it! Tyelan weighed 16Ib's 11oz last Friday..how much does Alex weigh? Tyelan is also teething but still no tooth in sight....these are hard times as he can be so irritable! How have you been coping with the teething? So pleased concert went well for you! Even though I'm only teaching across the hallway..I still miss my baby! I'm pathetic lol! I can totally understand you missing him! He's adorable! Totally worth waiting for ha ha! xxx

OMG! Your baby is gorgeous!! Our birth stories are very similar! Except I went straight into hospital (I'm not as brave as you!) Everything was going well I was on gas and air the whole time until I had to start pushing..baby was in distress so they had to monitor me in another room...Started pushing and was then told to stop as cord was around his neck, he had done his meconium before coming out and he was also back to back..by this time was begging for epidural! I was then given an epi so they could give drugs to intensify the contractions and turn him around..but I was strangling him with every push so they wheeled me straight for a c sec! There's no way I could have done this at home or a midwifery led unit! Going to have his jabs today :( Hope all's well with you. xx

hi ya we are doing really good, harley is a good girl and generally sleeps from 8.pm until 5am, on a bad nite she will wake at 3am and then again at 7am. its just so nice to get a proper nites sleep at last (she is teething as well so its a bit of a nitemare) hope are you doing welll xxx

Hey wen went for our 4D it was amazing but the woman was a bit potty! It was at the Hendon Clinic, Hendon and was �179. for scan, sex, 6 pics and DVD. It was good but i think there are better places out there she rushed us in and out. So thrilled though we are having a GIRL yay xx

I just cant stop thinkign of all the bad things that could happen and it bums me out.. its weird. I think that its jus tthe lack of sleep that is doing it to me. im lucky if i get 4 hours a night.

yeah sex has been kinda.. acward fo rme lately.. Plus it doesnt help that im a beached whale and think that the only reason he has sex with me is so i dont feel ugly... but it only makes me feel worse. Its horrible. I have never felt so un-sexy in my life.
