Hi.

So, picasso's first birthday was spent at the zoo. he had such a good time. (he loves animals).

I can't believe how big he is. at his 1 year check up he weighed 26.4 lbs and was 33" long! he's really smart & a lot of trouble! i don't know what to do about him climbing everything. he knows how to get down, but he also tries to hang off of things in a way that makes me think he's really going to hurt himself..can't wait for him to stop doing that!

picasso will be a year old next month, and started walking a few weeks ago. he's really into pointing and asking "whats that?" about everything. He likes animals a lot, and if you even mention a monkey he'll start "ooohooh-ahahah"ing. Its cute. He really likes dogs, too, and makes his little stuffed dog toy hop around and bark. oh, yeah, and he loves bunnies too.

Lately, he refuses all baby foods and is becoming really picky about what he will eat. i don't know what to do. i just give him the things he will eat and offer healthy choices hoping he'll change his mind and eat them too. the morningstar chik nuggets aren't unhealthy...just, i'd like him to eat a variety of things...he absolutely refuses to eat "real meat". i don't know what to do. he likes bananas and baby cereals with fruit in it. sometimes he'll eat beans, or pasta, or rice. i guess i just have to keep offering things and hope he'll eat something new...

____________________________________________________________

picasso is 30.5" long and 21lbs6oz! he's long and lean i guess...! i can't believe he's grown almost 10" since birth. (he was 21" when he was born) he never wants to be still. ever since he mastered crawling he's been really busy trying to walk....i don't know what to do because he can stand & reach table tops and climbs on anything available for climbing...

he's been non-stop teething since 2.5 months, but only has 2 teeth. there are 2 more that look like they will break through any day.

_________________________________________________________

picasso is 8 months tomorrow! he's crawling like crazy...he stands without holding on to anything! not for very long, though..got him a toy thay he can push & helps him walk, then it turns into a scooting car...he loves it.

_________________________________________________________

My baby is wild. He won't let me on the computer at all.

Picasso will be 7 months tomorrow & already weighs 20 lbs! 28" long...

he sits by himself & scoots around...gets on his hands & knees & rocks! If he wants me to get him he calls out "mama"...poor baby has 2 teeth and more are coming in...(started teething at 2 months)

he eats some solids, but won't drink out of a bottle or sippy cup! i keep offering the sippy cup, but he only takes the breast...on occassion he will take tiny bits of juice or water from my cup! silly baby...

I'm so glad you made it there and back safely! We are probably flying again in August and Travis will be almost one, it should be interesting trying to keep him still.

littlecavalier - Friday, 11 April
My guess is that it is actually extremely uncommon and some of the people who posted were flight attendants who had seen bad things in training videos, not from personal experience so it's probably a worst case scenario. You probably have better chances of getting hit by a bus than you do having the kind of turbulence that would truly harm your little one. I'm sure everything will be fine, especially with wearing a carrier and wearing your own seatbelt. Let me know how it goes!

Ok, so I was just reading my weekly baby center update and there was a link to airline travel with babies and it made me think of you. I think I might be sufficiently scared now to fly again without buying a seat. I have flown probably at least 20 times and haven't ever been in turbulence like they are referring to but as a parent I am over protective and should have done more research! Thanks for bringing this to my attention and good luck on your flight!

I am assuming they say not to use one in the car because they are supposed to be in a safty seat. I wore one on the plane and had her in it for some of the ride. However, my little one was 3 months old at the time. Will your 8 month old like be strapped on to you?

littlecavalier - Thursday, 10 April
I took my then 6 month old on a plane as a lap child last month and everything went really well. I'm really not sure where the danger comes in as in my mind if a plane is going to crash, and I'm really not trying to be mean or crude, but it probably isn't going to matter if your little one is in an infant car seat or not. Saying that, the actual probability of a plane crash is miniscule compared to your risk of a car accident etc. It will all be ok!!! I would think that if there was a strong history of accidents with babies getting hurt that they would no longer allow lap babies. Good luck!

I'm not sure if I explained it right. When I said baby carrier I ment the kind you strap them to your body. It was easy moving up and down the asile to go to the bathroom and what not with her like that. Also, it was nice to have both hands free getting on and off the plane.

sabsi - Tuesday, 8 April
hi. I don't know. but you will also get a baby life vest,so they should have those extra seat belts already on bord. good luck! oh,if they don' t give you the life vest.please ask, just in case. hugz

Hi- I've flown several times with lap children. They make a lab belt for them, However, I don;t know where to find one. I strapped my newboen onto me with a baby carrier. Also, anytime there are extra seats on the plane you can bring your carseat on and use it. They will let you know when you are checking in if there is an open seat. Honestly speaking, I had to take my child out of her carseat to calm her and keep her quiet.

I have flown with my baby several times since she was born on my lap. She flew when she was as young as 6 wks and then recently when she was 7 months in March. No problems. Good Luck!

Hi. If you want an extra seat for your baby you have to pay 50-75% of the regular air fare, which can be very pricey! what you could do is to carry your car seat and ask if there are any free seats once you get to the plane,if not you can just hand the seat off to the flight attendant to store under the plane.when you have a lap child that means you get a special seat belt for you and the baby.thats what I know,I hope i helps! I had my baby in a car seat in a single seat, but had to pay a fortune to fly from hawaii to germany. Take care and good luck!

annas-momma - Monday, 7 April
Hey! I flew with Anna when she was 7 months old, almost 8 months. I was PETRIFIED to fly.... especially with my baby!! It all turned out okay, and I'm sure your trip will be okay also! I flew with Anna on my lap because my father-in-law paid for our tickets and booked her as an infant that I would be holding. At first I was really upset because I thought I would want her in the car seat. Turns out that if she was in a car seat it would have been a PAIN. To get her to sleep, my husband picked her up and asked the flight attendant if it would be okay if he stood near the restrooms to rock her. It was also nice to be able to play with her and keep her attention. Being that I was SO PETRIFIED to fly, it actually kept ME calmer keeping her on my lap. We sat by the window and I narrated everything to her and showed her where our house was and where Grandmas work was and I talked about the clouds and asked her if she saw any Care Bears in the clouds. I'm not delusional, LOL! But talked about all of that to her kept me calm, ergo it kept her calm. I liked having her on my lap the entire time and would have regretted paying to put her in a car seat. But, this is all just my personal opinion. I hope all goes well! ALSO, I have on my profile my "personal tips" for flying with a baby. ;)

Andy wouldn't take a bottle for us either. I went back to work when he was 10 weeks and he took one at daycare, no problem. Little stinker! He wouldn't take a pacifier either. I would have paid someone good money to make him take one the first 12 weeks! Yeah, he is saying 'ya-ya-ya' and just started 'da-da-da'. You're probably right on the talking OR walking.
