Until about a week ago I was doing well, now the baby has taken a position that is really hurting me. I can not lye down at all becuse when I try to sit up my who inner pelvis pops and grinds and sometimes brings on tears. I have a Dr. appt. Friday to discuss a resolution. Where will you be delivering? I will be going out of Riverview in Redbank. WOw I can not believe you are from freehold, we are not far from eachother at all considering everyone on thei board is from all over the country. HAve you always lived in Freehold?

MaryGN,I, personally, am against banking, as when your baby is born, they will immediately clamp and cut the cord to save what's in the cord. Now the cord is still pulsing and it is vital that the baby gets that blood and oxygen into their little system. I, personally, have in my bith plan that the cord is not to be clamped until all the blood/oxygen has been pumped from the placenta into the baby, as research has proven that this is very important for the baby and it makes sense, as it is meant for them. But this is only my opinion, but I feel very strongly about it. The question is, will your child need this blood one day because they were deprived of it in the first place?

Yes I did go the the g.d. specialist today. Everything went well she was really nice and the hospital is really cool about having us call in with any questions, even something as small as 'my meter doesn't want to work'. I have to test my blood 4 times a day, and eat 6 times a day, that whole routine. What will be hard for me is timing my meals and snacks. Also eating out, that's got to be a pain! I was bad enough about taking my time picking out what I want to eat, but now having to count it all out... that should be interesting. Good for you for sticking to the plan. Have your blood results stayed normal since you have been on the diet? I hope it really helps because I would be more afraid of giving myself the insulin shot. So you get another u/s? Have you been measuring big? I was measuring a week big and that was before I found out I had g.d. Has your doctor said anyhting about inducing you early? I go to my ob doctor tomorrow so I have more questions for her, she likes to induce people early as weird as that may sound. I have a friend being induced 10 days early by this same doctor for NO reason. Literally it is due to the docotr's busy schedule. So I am going to ask what she plans to do with me tomorrow!!!

I soooo happy to see that im not in the heartburn boat alone!!! I have it sooo bad. it is actually the reason im awake right now! i also drink a glass of milk when it starts but that is a temp fix. i started taking zantac 75, then moved onto zantac 150, now im on rx aciphex. it works great. i have just come to tearms with the fact im gonna have it for the rest of my little mans time in my belly! good luck we all know just how terrible it is! you are not alone!!! lol

The heartburn sucks a big bananna during pregnancy doesn't it? Mine was so bad that I had to take Rx Prevacid for it. It helps a lot but does not cure it. I find that sleeping propped up hels.I've also been told that not eating 1 hour before you go to bed helps, but I haven't found that to be true because I am sitting at work and have heartburn from hell. I feel like the devil is branding with an iron stick or something.

Hi, I just asked the doctor about heartburn during my last appointment. She said to try mylanta, but I didn't because that night I had my birthing class for the first time and the teacher of the class suffered from such terrible heartburn that she had to take some kind of prescription medicine. However, she told me to try baking soda to brush my teeth with and to try either Pepcid AC or Zantac. I've been using Pepcid AC for the last 3 nights and it has made a HUGE improvement. Tums just don't work anymore. Although I didn't switch to just plain baking soda, I did get the baking soda brand toothpaste and it is working a lot better than the other mint and cinammon toothpaste I've been trying. I have to fall asleep either really propped up or sitting up, but the pain hasn't been quite as bad since the Pepcid AC. Let me know if you find other ideas or something that works better for you. I've been really desperate the last couple weeks.

aw thanks for the comment!!

Oh that's heartburn alright! Welcome to the horrible club nobody wants to belong to. I've had HORRIBLE heartburn for weeks. It gets so bad at night that I can't breathe and I start gagging. It hurts like I assume a heart attack may. I've tried TONS of things and not much seems to help. My doctor gave me a prescription for it and that seemed to help - but she only gave me enough meds for 2 weeks! I hate to take meds prego (even though they're supposed to be safe) so I've just been trying to deal with it - just a few more weeks to go. Only thing that kinda helps is eating smaller meals and nothing before you go to bed. Our stomachs are SO cramped up in our chest by now, that eating anything bigger (even something that really isn't all that big) will give you nasty heartburn (if you're prone to it).
Good Luck - and it it's any consolation - I feel your pain! Just a few more weeks to go.

I read about ur heart burn. I learned a move in prenatal yoga that might sound stupid but it helped me. u stick ur tounge out and curl it up u take a breathe in and let it out thru ur nose. u notice when u take a breathe in thru ur tounge the air feels cool. well taht is what is supposed to help. try it and let me know.

The first time I had heartburn I thought I was having a heart attack! it hurt so much more than I thought it would. I never really found anything that worked very well, I just wanted to let you know that I've experienced the whole heart soreness symptom too.

rachaelh - Monday, 28 Jan
Oh the heartburn...it's worse than the morning sickness!! When I feel it starting up, I drink a glass of milk--it neutralizes the acid and makes me feel better almost immediately.

butterblocksmom - Monday, 28 Jan
Hiya...I had heartburn really bad, I don't recall having my heart hurt though. Lots of acid reflux (acid actally coming into my throat (then I would inhale it while sleeping...very bad) nd lots of burning in the chest area. I ate a LOT a tums and after that stopped working (even sitting up at work I would get bad pains throughout the day) I got a prescription for Zantac (totally safe). Now I take that 2x a day and do not eat 2-3 hours before laying down (which has cut down on my excess evening snacking too!!!)

audreesmommy08 - Monday, 28 Jan
hello, im from week 30 but i saw your post. My heartburn was SO BAD and it seems like it has just now eased up, I think the baby has dropped to be honest though. Ive been eating yogurt and it seems to help!

melsue01 - Monday, 28 Jan
oh, and if you wanna try reealllly fast relief, chew up a pepcid-these are good too!! They work fast!!

melsue01 - Monday, 28 Jan
then I would say it's heartburn, and no matter whether it's water or food, it burns. I would suggest lighter foods/meals. The water does feel like it stays in your throat, I get that. Heatburn has been a constant for me this whole pregnancy. And the bigger baby gets, the less room for digestion you have-- or food period!! I think some of the other suggestions on this page are good, probably the Zantac otc being the best. Good luck with it, i feel your pain!!

smz001 - Monday, 28 Jan
Hi there. Heartburn is very common during pregnancy. But you saying it hurts. It should hurt, just burn. If it hurts it may be something else. Maalox or Gaviscon works for me, but not sure if its available everywhere.

melsue01 - Monday, 28 Jan
does it BURN or HURT???

PreggieAt40 - Monday, 28 Jan
While pregnant I found that Maalox did wonders until about the last month then I had a prescription from my OB for Zantac 150 which is now available over the counter. And remember that heartburn means a head full of hair!! If you check out my page you will see my daughter was born with a head full!! Good Luck and I hope it helps!!

NewMum2B - Monday, 28 Jan
You're welcome. I really hope that the water trick works for you. My doctor told me that Tylenol and Tums were two safe things to take during pregnancy. If the water doesn't help you could always try the tums too. I only use it when I really have to.
