I guess this marks my official entry into the second trimester. It's much easier to relax knowing the threat of miscarriage is very low now. I was glad to hear the heartbeat at my last visit. We are looking forward to finding out the sex of the baby on Jan 21st (as long as he/she cooperates of course). I'm looking forward to finishing up my Christmas shopping this week so that I can relax and enjoy the last week before Christmas. It's our last CHristmas with just Matthew and I want to really enjoy it!

I am super excited to have my ultrasound coming up in 2 weeks. If all goes well (meaning that the baby cooperates with us) we will find out what we are having on the 21st of January. I have started buying a few things for the baby (bottles and liners) and once we find out the sex I can start planning for the newborn clothes. We didn `t find out what we were having the first time so I have tons of gender neutral stuff but let `s face it...I `ll have to buy some gender-specific items once I know what we are having!

Well I went to my ultrasound today and we found out that it `s a girl!!! Matthew has been saying that he wants a little sister and it looks like he gets his wish. She was super active in the ultrasound. It `s funny because I have been feeling movements since about the 16th week and watching the ultrasound screen I was amazed at what I didn `t feel as she was moving all around! This should be an interesting ride! :) We are very happy.

I found out today that I have to go in for another ultrasound on the 11th of Feb. They were unable to see all the parts of the heart that they like to see...something about her position in the womb...the doctor said it was nothing to be worried about that this sometimes happens. I admit that I was a bit taken aback because I didn `t have to do this with Matthew. Hopefully all will go well. :) Sunday, 10 Feb
Well - here we are almost 23 weeks along...I have my third ultrasound on Monday. They want to see a few more areas of the heart that they missed the last time. Hopefully all will go well. I `ve been feeling good - a bit tired at the end of the day but other than that I can `t complain. Our next project is re-doing our guest room for our son so that we can move him out of the nursery to make room for his sister. That should keep me bussy for the next few months and then we `ll be in the home stretch! Yay! I started getting excited about her arrival the other day...this should be a fun summer!

Well we just got back from the U/S and everything looks great...HR was 148 and she was really active. I asked the technician to re-confirm the sex (I didn `t see the last time so I wanted to make sure) and this time I was able to see for myself that she is really a girl! Bring on the pink and purple clothes folks!!! :)

OK - so is it just me or is it too early to be feeling this nesting instinct? I don `t remember it kicking in so early last time...I am having this incredible urge to get our guest room re-done so we can move my son in there and get him settled. Then I `ll be able to get the nursery set up for the new baby. It `s much harder this time because we now have a 2 year old running around while we are trying to do things...We `re planning on taking some days off from work and sending Matthew to school so we can get things done quickly and efficently. Her movements are getting much stronger now so it `s like a reality check that she `s coming whether we are ready or not! LOL! I really wanted to have everything settled by mid-May because I am sure that I `ll be pretty tired by then (never mind the fact that I may go early - a thought that I have been ignoring since Matthew came on his due date)!

My little one is VERY active these days...I wonder if this is a sign of things to come (if so she `ll be in good company with her brother). I am looking forward to starting the process of readying the house for her arrival. I `ve booked my days off in March to start the process and hopefully all will move smoothly! We are planning a trip to NH to visit my sister-in-law at the end of the month and that will be a nice little break for our family from the day-to-day routine (Matty loves to swim). I can `t believe that it `s been about 6 months...time is flying by...it `ll be spring before we know it...hmm...does that mean I need to start shaving regularly again???LOL!

Well, 91 days to go...it seems like such a long time. I `m not sure if anyone else out there who is pregnant while raising another child already is feeling the emotional strains that I am. It seems as if there `s no time for yourself. The first time is so easy - you get home from work and all you worry about is yourself. Now - as a mother - you seem to find yourself slipping to last place every day and that `s a bit draining. I am looking forward to getting my energy back after the birth. I `ll feel so much better equipped once I am at 100% again!

Well, I have made it through 27 weeks and I now finally need to take off my wedding bands and just wear my engagement ring and my `back-up ` gold band that I bought last time (it `s a full ring size larger). At least I made it this far...with my last pregnancy I was out of my rings (all of them) by the 4th month (I tried to be better about my weight gain this time). Hopefully I won `t have too much more swelling!
Thursday, 20 Mar
We made progress on converting our guest room into a big boy room for Matthew. The closet is ready we just need to move out the guest room furniture and get it cleaned and painted. Once that is done we will let him pick out his new bedding and hopefully he will have a smooth transition. We say a lot of cute bookshelves at Target the other day that I want to get for his room as well as a toy storage unit. The goal will be to move as many of his extra toys into his room as possible before his little sister comes along and we get completely consumed with newborn stuff again!
Sunday, 23 Mar
We went to an Easter Egg hunt at the library today and Matthew had a blast looking for the eggs! He did so good picking them out and then waiting in line to see the Easter Bunny. We didn `t get a smile out of him for the picture but at leasthe wasn `t crying LOL! It will be so fun to see him open his basket tomorrow.
Monday, 31 Mar
30 weeks have officially passed...only 10 more to go. She has been so active these days it `s unbelievable! Sometimes it will take me by surprise and I `ll make a little noise and the girl on the other side of my cube wall will ask `Hey - What `s going on over there”
We had a great weekend away. We took my son snow tubing and he had a blast with his Daddy. I took lots of pictures. We also went to a few stores that had talking animatronics animals which were a big hit with him! He was such a good boy (just with a lot of energy). He was very interested in seeing his new cousin Riley (especially once she started crying due to a pretty big BM). Matthew wanted to see her getting her diaper changed and he kept saying `Riley sad” and `Big poop `. It was too funny! LOL! Let `s hope he `s as good with his new sister!
I am definitely feeling the pressure to get him moved to the new room now. 10 weeks will just fly by and I don `t want to be doing everything last minute. People have been giving me outfits and such for the new baby and I keep stacking them in a corner of the room until I get Matthew moved...oh well! All in good time I guess!
Monday, 7 Apr
31 weeks today! YAY! I can't believe that time is flying by so fast. We had a busy weekend getting the last of the clothes out of the guest room. Now I just need to call a local charity to have them pick up the bedroom set and then we can paint the room. I keep telling myself that we have 9 weeks but it seems like she'll be here tomorrow so I am feeling pretty antsy. She's still super active and lately she's been hitting my bladder which makes the bathroom trips all the more frequent! LOL!
Friday, 11 Apr
Well, a local charity came today to pick up our spare bedroom set. Now all we need to do is give the room a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint and then we can move Matthew in! I hope to get this completed by the end of the month...we'll see. All of the new baby stuff is piling up in the house and I need somewhere to start storing it...argh...I think the nesting instinct is starting to kick in! LOL!
