You know, I buy bagged lettuce... either way is fantastic, that all depends on your choice.
Tuna is great... just try to avoid bread for a while... it will help you to get off of a carb high. I do think it is cheaper to buy your own head of lettuce, so definitly do that in regards to being more cost effective. :)

well if you get then fresh they will be richer in nutrients. when they are canned and frozen sometimes depending how long they are not as fresh and the quality is not as good. but frozen i would say is better than canned and i would assume. also look for the salt content on canned vegatables and expiration date.
if you can get them fresh its always better:)

myliltiger - Wednesday, 12 November
i buy my own ingredients. you are right it it cheaper and the ingredients fresher;)

well, I buy the salad bags sometimes or I make my own. I'm sure no matter what you buy, fresh is always "better", but the biggest fat concern is the dressing, just make sure you get low fat dressings (instead of using the caesar dressing that comes in the bag which is packed full of calories which I'm guilty of) but the bags def. at least last days as long as you don't open them. Hope this helps!

Yes, stay away from the frozen...stick to fresh! and NO! There is no harm in canned veggies! I eat them all the time! They are good for you! hehe
I made my son babyfood (i also bought canned baby food periodically but making it is always great). You can blend green beans, peas, speghetti... all that good stuff! :)

I make my own, but on rushed nights I will pick up a prepackaged salad! I like my own better then I can add what I want, including radishes,, mmmmm yummy!

mommy2be18 - Wednesday, 12 November
buy your own salad.. that way you know its fresh!!!

canned veggies lose their nutritional value...and frozen is better but fresh is the absolute best. Cooking them can actually take away from the nutritional value also..but i think steamed is fine im pretty sure..any way..thats all i really know about veggies..i dont like veggies at all lol!!!!

tracylouella - Wednesday, 12 November
Hrrmmm I dunno! I'd say fresh are best, then frozen, then canned. I buy frozen cuz its easier but I buy a lot of fresh too. BUT uncooked fresh veggies are the best cuz apparantly cooking them takes nutrients away.

mommy2be18 - Wednesday, 12 November
i always thought canned.. u don't get that water down taste...

Mommy Lisa - Wednesday, 12 November
That isn't a dumb question, silly!
When it comes to corn, green beans & peas, I have always bought the cans for those. <~~Although, that is not the best choice, it is still really good and less expensive. As for Brocolli, carrots, onions, bell pepper, cabage, lettuce, and all other typical fresh produce I buy FRESH! I have always been told to stay away from frozen veggies because although frozen to perserve life, they are old. You can always steam fresh veggies and preserve all of its nutrition by not over-cooking them. For instance, don't let your brocolli get too soft or mushy, you want to always keep a firm bite. The firmer the better, but lets face it...some veggies are NASTY raw! LOL... so, lightly steamed is always perfect! :) feel free to ask me anything and whenever!!

hi, just an update on us, still in hospital, steroids are in and they are stopping the pills that suppress the contractions, almost 31 weeks, and baby decklan weighs 4 pound 4oz acording to the latest ultrasound, wich is realy good to know! my waters are still intact though my cervix has dialated to 1cm but is still pretty hard and still towards the back, so pray with me that it stays that way for another few weeks! My son turns 2 on the 1st of december and i might be able to get a day release to go be with him cause we live pretty close to the hospital (25mins)
