Im also from Vancouver Island and will be moving home to ladysmith to have the baby well (nanaimo) u/s are done in the first trimester for many reasons ie: dating the pregnancy, to see if you are having twins, and to see the nuchal translucency of the baby (down syndrome) take care. Its also an amazing thing to seeyour little one bouncing around and to see the heart beat. You may want to have one

Hi Meg - In Ontario, IPS screening is covered... it's an ultrasound and bloodwork that screens for defects done between 11 and 13 weeks. My appointment is March 31st.

I went to the doctor to make sure I didn't have an ectopic pregnancy, and they did an ultrasound. I don't know if they would have done one anyway. Many doctors probably give it so early to verify that the baby is alive and to make money. It's $800 per ultrasound here in Miss., not including doctor's fees, etc. I have read in my blogs where people are getting four and more. I don't know how they afford it, but I understand the excitement of seeing the growing baby. It is both comforting and exciting.
