Birth Story
Wednesday, August 15th I went in for my 38 week checkup and I was nothing - zero percent effaced and zero percent dialated. So we set up my induction date for August 28th - my due date. I kept telling my husband that night that I think we should get everything in the car because I had a feeling something was going to happen sooner than later. Well Thursday, August 16th I went to work as usual - everything was packed in the car - his bag, my bag, and baby Elle's bag. I was at work and around 1:00 p.m. I got this tight feeling in my legs so I decided to get up and I did this squat and then I left my office to head down to the restroom - on my way there I felt this "pop" and then gush fill my panties a bit - not a whole lot of fluid but enough to notice. So I thought I had "peed" a little in my pants so I headed to the restroom and went "pee" - then I headed out to my car to get a pair of workout pants so that I could do my afternoon walk at work. On my way to the car I felt "gush" again and this time I knew something was going on - my pants were soaked and I told a lady out in the parking lot - " I think my water broke". She told me to go back to the bathroom and check there. I headed back to the restroom and this time the fluid was getting a pink tinge to it - so I knew this was it.
I went in and told my office "we are having a baby" - I called my husband and of course he didn't believe me - I had to have a coworker tell him that this was for real and was really it - hahaha. He picked me up and off to the hospital we went. I wasn't having any contractions so I drove - I HATE HIS DRIVING... We got there and they checked me to make sure it was amniotic fluid and it was - I was 80% effaced and 1.5 centimeters dialated - so they started the pitocin around 4:30 p.m. by 11:30 p.m. I was 4 centimeters and I had enough of my off the chart contractions coming every 1 1/2 minutes so I said "bring on the epidural'. That was nothing - it didn't hurt I felt this warm sensation and poof all the pain was gone. It was a weird feeling - legs were numb and heavy but I felt normal. Well, I felt relaxed and told my hubby to take a nap and then I relaxed to - by 2:30 a.m. they came in and checked me and I was 9 centimeters and fully effaced. I waited an hour till I was 10 centimeters and so by 3:30 a.m. I was ready to go but I had to wait to wake my poor doctor up to get there - it took about 45 minutes and then he arrived. I just love him!!! Well I pushed for 11 minutes and out she came. Thd doctor said "grab your baby" and I got to pull her out - it was absolutely miraculous. This beautiful little angel sent to us. Elle had a bowel movement on the way out and had injested some meconium so the nurses sucked it out and gave her apgar score and 8 because of this. She was fine though and wailing like a banche. It was so awesome.
I tried the breast feeding and it I made it through the hospital stay but it was taking a toll on me and Elle so now we are bottle feeding and it is going great. I love my little girl and I can't believe how much love you can have for someone so small. Our family is perfect and my husband has taken to fatherhood like a champ and I love to see that he has fallen in love with another girl - our little Elle Rose.
congratulations..... |
