4 months old- father time, where did you go?

I ask myself that everyday, the infant face and the baby mullet is almost gone. She's doubled , almost, her birth weight and grown atleast three and a half inches. She went from this wriggly little infant to a baby complete with a zillion smiles a day !! I still look at her in complete awe. She's rolling over and babbling up a storm and laughing! She recognizes people(that's good and bad) she's cried when several people have tried to talk to her!! Our son, (bubba so she will call him) absolutely postively adores her, and she adores him. He is seven and is so much like a grown man, it's still hard to believe that he is only seven. Wise before his time but I may be a little biased ;-) We are so incredibly blessed to have two perfect children and I couldn't ask for anything more. This weekend was father's day. It was so nice! We had both my father and my husband's father (and our mothers of course)over and just relaxed and spent time together and grilled out. I can't imagine what it would be like without family. It's who we are, what we do. It would be so lonely without them. I never grew up with grandparents around, so that is a large blank in my memory that has been replaced by our wonderful parents who hopefully will be in our children's lives for a long time to come. Where else would Mason and Peyton get all the wise knowledge that comes from being on this earth 50+ years?

our lil' sweet "P" is now three months old has grown 3 inches and gained four pounds since birth!!!!

missing my lil' sweet "P"

these last eleven weeks with my daughter Peyton have flown by so fast. This was my first week back at work. It breaks my heart everyday I bring her into the babysitters house and set her carseat on the couch. She's smiling back at me like she always does, and I melt like I always do. It's just that much harder to leave her. But the lady who keeps her is GREAT! She's so loving. It just sucks b/c other than an occasional trip to the store or a baseball game of my son's she's only really been with me and her Grandma. Now I'm having to pump three times daily to keep up my milk at work, and she spends 10 hours a day with someone to her feels like a stranger. i'm sure in a couple of weeks she'll be adjusted and there are lots of toddlers there to keep her entertained. When I pick her and my 7 yr old son up at 4:30 from the babysitter all I want to do is bond with her and play with him the rest of the afternoon. Does anyone else feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to spend with your children? And they are supposed to be TOP priority. But with cooking cleaning, homework, playtime, laundry, bathtime and an 8:30 bedtime, I am completely exhausted. I cannot wait for 4oclock today. I want to go back on maternity leave, or be a stay at home mom!!

We Named her Peyton Grace- February 14, 2008

8lbs 12oz./19.5"

week 39- 5 days to go!!

So i am just waiting for my beautiful valentine's day girl to be delivered on thursday!! One problem still- we just can't decide on a name. I know, ridiculous isn't it? Everything else is in place, everything!! I just cannot believe i only have 5 days left until I meet her. I check in at 5:30 am Thursday morning, and the c-section is scheduled for 7:30.

I wish I could just sleep until Thursday morning... that'd be nice. It hurts so bad on the underside of my belly. Not to mention that my belly is soooooo big that hardly nothing covers it anymore, and I refused like a month ago to buy anymore maternity clothes, I just can't do it, so I've been wearing my husbands shirts instead.

I'm hanging in there, tho. I guess I should finish packing our bags, really that's all that is left to do!! Why can't it be wednesday night already?????????????

Jan 30th- two weeks to go.........

so I went to my doc this morning for my regular check-up on baby and he tells me the cervix is still shut tight, and I say to him "so what-- she's not coming out that way- i don't care if it ever dilates one centimeter!! These last two weeks I can tell are really gonna suck. the carpal tunnel in my hands can be quite excruciating at times, it drives me crazy! My tummy is so heavy that the skin just aches, and my poor feet and cervix ache like nobody's business. I know, I know, it'll all be over soon, and in the end my sweet little girl will be worth every ache and pain I ever endured- true. I tested positive for the group b strep, which apparently doesn't mean jack- since my delivery is a c-sec, I think they give me antibiotic pills to take. I'm just gonna make the best of two more weeks of anticipation, and I promise I'll never wish another day away again in my life-- okay except for really bad ones ;-)

Jan 22- 22 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally had my baby shower this weekend!! 32 of the 41 people I expected came. I knew of all that were not coming, so actually everybody I expected showed up! What a great feeling. These are all close personal friends and family and what's better is they showed up in the crappiest of weather- snow, sleet and rain!!! It's good to be loved- that or either they came for the food!!!! I got everything I needed and then tons more!! I got the crib bedding, a crib matress, (really nice one too!) the travel system, the high chair, diapers, clothes out the ying-yang, my avent bottles, the soothie pacis, wipes, onesies, an awesome baby monitor that has night vision capability, lcd picture frames w/remote, and a pedicure with reflexology, for myself!! Yeah that's definitely gonna be used here reaaaaaaally soon, as this is my last week of work, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mil's neighbor has this monitor that goes under the baby's crib matress that detects breathing movements, and if she were to ever stop breathing-God forbid-the alarm on this monitor would go off!! I know with my first son they didn't have monitors where you could actually see baby sleeping, only hear them, and I would always go in there-holding my breath- just to watch his chest rise and fall!! What a peace of mind I'll have this time around. The usual aches and pains are still here. COME ON FEB 14TH!!!!!!!!!!

The c-section has been scheduled for 7am that morning!!!!

Jan17-
I finally gave in and let my mil buy the gown that we will bring my daughter home in- who, btw, is still nameless. I just can't seem to decide on a name, and it's getting to the point where it sort of weighs heavy on my mind, but it's not really bothering me. Is that weird?? She's gong to be making her debut in like 4 weeks, --YIKES!! I guess next week would probably be a good time to get the nursery in order...
How do you work up the energy to start a task like that when you still have xmas totes lying all over the room b/c your hubby hasn't stored them, and you are working a 40 hour a week job??
My son, hubby, and I just moved into our house this past November. Things have been a little hectic, to say the least. I'm having my baby shower this weekend-can't wait, I love being the center of attention- even if I do resemble Shamu!!!
If I were having another boy and they were close in age I probably would not be having another shower. That child had EVERYTHING. But it just wasn't practical to store his stuff for seven years, and I knew after him I would NOT be having another anytime soon. Not to mention I handed alot of stuff down to my little nephew. I have managed to save alot of money picking up things second hand that I didn't have to put on a registry this time, or buy brand new. Things like newborn layettes, gowns, onesies(alot of these my mom found at yard sales still in the wrapping brand new!!),a swing, a cradle, a crib, a breastpump (check out my pics!!).
A family can go broke buying new stuff for the new baby if you're not careful.
Course, my girl will always have and wear nice things, I just don't give into the temptation of buying everything new anymore!!
So two more weeks of work, then I'll have 2 weeks to get everything in order before out little girl arrives, how exciting!!!
I am so nervous, but most of all excited to finally have her in my hands wriggling about instead of my belly!! Best of luck to all new and expecting moms out there!!!
jan9-
had a check-up today. No dialation, and the cervix is slightly thinned. Doesn't really matter beings that I have elected for my 2nd c-section. They also did the GBS, and that was negative- so all systems go!! Also they finally set the date, it's official-- Feburary 14th at 7:00 am they will bring our girl into this world. I get all teary just thinking about it!!
My mil calls me today and says she found a dress for me to bring her home in from the hospital- all I wanted was a pretty little warm gown and cute little knit hat. My mother and I are more of the practical side of the family. My mil, on the other hand wants a dress and frill and lace and leggings. The dress she found from this little shop is like $40-45!!! Good God, I just don't see spending that kind of money on an infant dress just to come home in. Then she was like "she can wear it home for everybody to come over and see her in it. Hello, do you think I want a bunch of people bombarding me on the first day I come home?! I think not. The dress is white with little red rosebuds embroidered in it-- fitting-- beings it will be valentines day and all. But it won't be v-day when she comes home. So I will humor her and let her buy a fru-fru dress for my daughter, but I draw the line at leggings.......
jan6th- Whew I am exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so the gap is narrowing, and I am so frigging excited. I have like 37 or so days to go. I am a little nervous but I know when feb 14th gets here all of my worries will seem petty. I have definitely gotten into the nesting phase, but my poor tired feet just won't last any longer than an hour or so. I still have two more weeks until my shower- Hopefully this little girl holds out till after that. I don't even know when my last day of work's going to be. That's when it'll hit me I think...once I take maternity leave, God I cannot wait for that! I think it'll be like friday the 25th, if I can even make it that long!!
Jan 2nd
so I managed to get through Christmas without any major problems. I went just this past weekend and registered at a few local stores--that was fun-- me, my mother, and my mother-in-law. Can you say all day affair?! We had a blast! After the first store, my feet were aching so darn bad I got a motorized wheelchair in Target.
I know I must've looked retarted trying to steer that thing, but it saved my ankles from swelling up. Our last stop was Babies R Us- and to think I wasn't gonna register there-hah! That's place is AWESOME!! Nothing but baby stuff as far as the eye could see- and so well organized, it put the other two places to shame.
Our Christmas in the new house was great!! My son got everything he asked Santa for -including the Nintendo Wii that we ordered brand new off Ebay One week before xmas(God did we luck out!)
New Years Eve was fun, my brother-n-law and his fiancee had a few people over at their house. Nothin like stayin sober around a bunch of drunks all night long, all they wanted to do is feel the pregnant girl's belly, and ask "is she kickin?" It was still fun tho. Two more weeks till my shower, yay! They're so much fun especially when it's thrown in you and baby's honor. I'm scheduled for a c-section on February 14th--awwww isn't that the sweetest??? Now if I could just stop procrastinating on gettin that nursey done.....

.....It's A Girl!!

Good for Peyton! Doubling her weight! That is great. I still b/f a little, but he is mostly on formula now. I just don't produce that much and I struggled for a few months and now I've come to peace with the fact that I'll give him what I can, but I know its not enough.
The shower was lots of fun. They blind folded me and my mom and then had us try and feed eachother pudding at the same time. All she did was get it in my ear and my hair and my neck and a little in my mouth! It was fun and funny, but my aunts had to break us up when we were about to tackle eachother. ha! Riley got a high chair and a couple pack n plays. We left one at my parents house since they don't have anything for sleeping and my sister is also due in October. And Ri got some pretty cute clothes too. But really, it was just great to see everyone and set off a bunch of fireworks. How was your 4th?

onelove - Thursday, 3 July

Awesome pic! I just love how their personalities are already coming out! We are doing just fabulous. We get to go visit all my family for the 4th (6hour drive) and we are so excited! They are actually giving us a baby shower since they haven't gotten to do that yet. Its great because he is starting to grow out of all his clothes we have so we will hopefully get some more at the shower! Either way it will be great to see everyone. You doing anything fun for the 4th? Peyton have a festive outfit? How is everything going with you guys?

YolandaLee - Friday, 27 June
can't remember but i think it is something like Baby Led feeding ??? we're watching it again in a few weeks ... I'll let you know! How is your little Valentine going? You were saying she is like Caden with her night time sleeps? After going to sleep school I realise it could be a lot worse than a few night nibbles, so I think we'll stick to what we're doing and just wait till he sleeps longer to move him to the cot!

onelove - Thursday, 26 June
Hey Chica!

Gage went through that same thing-heck he still sometimes wakes up. He woke up last night at 3:30 and cried for a few seconds then back to sleep THANK GOD!!!! He didn't REALLY start sleeping through the night until around 6-7 months old. Gage has a kiddie pool we got him and he LOVES the water too. I've been thinking about getting him into swimming lessons but I can't find any place around here that does it with Babies. I need to go too! Maybe I'll find a Mommy and Me one. Although I don't forsee me sporting a bathing suit anytime suit. My belly looks like I got shot 5 times with a Bee-Bee gun!!!! I think Gage might be getting an ear infection-UGGHHH! The past couple days he's been pulling at his ear although no fever runny nose or coughing and he's happy and eating-maybe it's cause he's teething. I'll keep an eye on him and see how he does! I hope that Beautiful girl of yours starts feeling better soon!!!!

AWWWW Mason't at bible school-don't you just love seeing your kids follow in the same path as you? I can't wait to experinece all the fun stuff from my childhood with Gage. Dean and I are already talking about making a trip to Disney World when Gage is 4 or 5. He loves Mickey Mouse especially that show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. His eyes stayed glued to the TV it's so funny. I finally broke down and bought him the DVD and he freaks out when he hears the music-I mean shaking, jaw drops to the floor and he starts squealing-it's a sight to see-TRUST ME!!!!

That's so great that you have continued to Breastfeed! Wish I could have. We might have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for formula. Thankfully he'll be a year old in 3 months and then it's onto the real thing!!!!

I'm so happy the 4th is on Friday AWWWWW YEEEAAAHHH 3-day weekend here we come!!!! Got any plans? We'll probably go to my Aunts over in Smithfield for her annual cook out and then home to relax!

It was great to hear from you!!!! 2 more days till the weekend woooo hooooo!
~Laura

crazyeights - Tuesday, 24 June
For sure, when your counting weeks, that's right. I think the confusion is in going from weeks to months. Some months have 4 weeks and a few days and some have 5 so it's confusing. I always just found it easier to go by the actual date of the babys birth. :)

onelove - Monday, 23 June
Hey Chick!

Thanks again for checking in on me! I'm getting around better each day! I'm over feeling like poo but hopefully by next month I'll be good as new. I read your Father Time post-I hear ya!!! I don't know where the heck i would be if it weren't for my family!!!!!!!!!

I hope you and your family are all well!!!!! Time is flying by-if only life had a pause button!!!!! I'll be 31 in August and I remeber thinking that 30 was so old-it's hard to believe how far we've come since middle school and the days of NKOTB-HA HA!!!!!

Let me know how things are going! Take care!
XOXOX

dannie - Friday, 20 June
Hey there! Ryland only had two days where he was eating cereal for breakfast and he loved it. Ryland had no problem eating off of a spoon, but if a spoon doesn't work, use your finger. I made his more on the pastey side and mixed formula with it. He had no problem swallowing it and I was surprised by how little he spit out. Now that you mention it, I have noticed that Ryland has been extremely gassy, it never occurred to me that it was probably from the cereal. However, over the past 2 weeks or so, he has not been eating as much formula. Most of the time when I go to feed him, he will only take in 2 ounces at a time and it is a huge fight. I read that babies should get the majority of their calories from formula and since I don't want the cereal to fill him up and take away from him drinking his formula, I have decided to wait a little longer before adding it back in and wait until his appetite comes back. Several other women are also experiencing the same thing I am with Ryland not wanting to eat and we think either they are teething or just not in a growth spurt and not needing as much to eat. Everyone tells me to stop worrying because babies always let you know when they are hungry or need something. Get the camera set when you start the cereal!

dannie - Thursday, 19 June
Hey there! How is you Valentine's girl doing? Have you started her on cereal yet? Ryland had his first taste of it 3 days ago and loves it, boy does he chow down. If I take too long to get the spoon in his mouth he cries. I am glad he is liking the cereal because I am having a hard time getting him to drink much formula at each feeding. I love your update on Peyton!

Addyson mommy - Wednesday, 18 June
my friend picked my jumperoo up at a garage sale, it is normally $100 and she paid $25 I just washed the seat and used lysol wipes to wipe it down, so keep an eye out for that, or even a used child's store sells them cheaper.

Addyson mommy - Wednesday, 18 June
that's funny as I am reading it she is in her jumperoo laughing. Once she figured out how to use it she loves it but only last about 10 -15 minutes in the jumperoo, but will last longer in her exersaucer. I personally thinks she has alot more fun in the jumperoo however.

Addyson mommy - Wednesday, 18 June
Thanks for the advice on the cereal feeding, I fed Addyson again this morning and she did much better, she was actually opening her mouth when I brought the spoon to her, her tongue was still in the way a bit but she is geting the hang of it. She didn't even take all of it and there was only 2 tsp of cereal and 4 tsp of formula, but I think she is still learning.

mayasmom - Tuesday, 17 June
I did the fenugreek and it caused me to gain weight (I googled it and saw its an appetite stimulant in other parts of the world). I haven't heard of anyone else having this experience, so maybe I might try again and see if it makes a difference. They do use fenugreek to flavor fake maple syrup...not a bad sife effect, I suppose. There are worse things to smell like! Anyway, breastfeeding is exhausting...all the thinking about it, really. I'm going to do it as long as I can, but it isn't easy. I nursed my daughter for 15 months (with formula supplements at times). Good luck!

mayasmom - Tuesday, 17 June
I just talked to my daycare and they are thinking Ian needs more like 6 ounces per bottle (now it is 4-5). I know I can't pump all that, so I'll have to give him more formula! Are you supplementing, or able to pump everything she needs? Your kids are gorgeous. Isn't the spacing of age nice? Maya is sucha little helper. How did I take care of an infant (her) when I didn't have an 8 year old helper??? Everyone needs one!

mayasmom - Tuesday, 17 June
oops, my shields have a small number on the inside. Yours are probably 24, I think that is standard size. Some of mine don't have a number, and they are 24. I got all of mine at the hospital for free. Due to being premature, I think they wen't to heroic efforts to ensure I nursed him, including giving me free stuff even though I never asked for it. That, or they billed my insurance. The bigger ones I paid for through my lactation consultant (she has an office at a local medical building). They were $12 I think?

mayasmom - Tuesday, 17 June
Sorry I wasn't very clear! The bigger the number, the bigger the size. I have DD boobs, and the 27's apear to fit very weel, but the 24's get more milk, maybe because they are squeezing my breasts more. the lactation consultant tells me they should never hurt, so if it does, it is the wrong size, but the ones that felt better weren't doing the job! I work full time and here is my schedule:
I nurse Ian at 6:30 a.m.
I pump at 9:30 and get about 5 ounces
I pump at 11:30-12:00 and get 3 1/2 oz.
I pump at 2:30-3:00 and get about 3 oz
I breastfeed at 6:00 after I pick the little guy up and then nurse of and on all evening until he goes to bed at 9:00.
Ian is 4 1/2 months old, but a preemie, so adjusted age is 2 1/2 months. I always supplement with one bottle of formula while he's at daycare. Get in touch with a lact. consultant if you don't have one already...they are so helpful and supportive!

mayasmom - Tuesday, 17 June
Hi there. Yes, I have the standard size 24 shield (same pump as you), but I was using 27 and even 30 for a while, but went back to 24 and see much more milk now. The lactation consultant sold them to me, but you could look on-line. Proper fit is very important. Good luck!

ladobruk - Sunday, 8 June
Thanks for your suggestions. I will try the ambesol. I think I am finally getting this yeast infection under control because today breastfeeding wasn't so painful.

onelove - Tuesday, 3 June
Update and pics on my page!!!
~Laura

lovealways - Tuesday, 3 June
Yeah, I did get advice from La Leche...I went and got the fenugreek and started to take it yesterday. We will see how that goes. She is still taking 2 bottles of formula a day besides nursing becuase even though she is gaining good weight, she still screems and sucks her hands silly if I don't give her that those additional bottles. Oh well, atleast she is getting more of me and only a total of 4 ounces of formula a day...Lets see if the Fenugreek helps...I hope you and baby are doing well and thanks a bundle for chatting with me...

onelove - Monday, 2 June
Hey there Melissa!

Had a great vacation but am happy to be back home. You know how it is when the WHOLE family gets together. Gets a little tiring after a while.

AWWWW Miss Peyton will be rolling over soon. How exciting!!! I'm glad you had a nice 3 day weekend.

Gage has started saying Da-Da. Darn it I was really hoping for Ma-Ma!!! Oh well!!!

~Laura

mommytograce - Saturday, 31 May
Hello, good to hear from you. Grace is doing well. She is laughing (kind of ). She smiles real big but it doesn't sound like a regular laugh, its like a silent laugh. She talks or tries to talk all the time, it's so funny the faces she makes. She has discovered her hands and objects, but she's not really holding them too much. When i put her on her tummy she gets frustrated but she'll bring her knees up like she wants to crawl or something, it's funny. Everyday i can't wait to come home to be with her. I tell her all the time that soon I'll get to spend the whole day with her. Keep nursing girl, i wish i could have, it
so much cheaper! I get the generic formula and it's still expensive. I would have more pics but our camera got stolen when she was like a month old. bummer. I'm glad to hear your angel is doing so well. We should schedule a play date this summer. well take care and we'll chat soon!

lovealways - Thursday, 29 May
HI, and thanks for writing back!! Well my little one keeps me guessing. Last week she only gained one ounce and she had me convinced that she was not getting enough breast milk from me specially since everytime I pumped I could not even get one ounce out. Like I told you last I started to suppliment only giving her two/ 2 ounce similac bottles a day,but now I find out from the doc today that she gained 1pound 4 ounces in 6 days! Apparently by adding the formula i am over feeding her, but she loves it. when I try not to give her the bottle she cries and keeps opening her mouth and acting like she is hungry. And she cries to the point her voice gets horse... AHHHH, I don't know what to do..As far as pumping, I still can't get more than half an ounce when I pump...Its so frustrating I feel like crying...Today she has been crying all day, I think she has colic, because the doctor said she is healthy...It breaks my heart not to see her happy. She seems not satified and unhappy. She was so much happier in my belly!
