PHPT on 2/20/08!
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 1/2 years. I miscarried last year at this time. We then went to a fertility specialist. I have been on Letrozole for about 1 1/2 years. I had one IUI, but it didn't take. So needless to say we are thrilled!
2/20/08 - hcg level - 38
2/22/08 - hcg level - 130
2/25/08 - hcg level - 592
2/28/08 - ultrasound - We saw the gestational sac and the yolk sac. Estimated I was five weeks. The doctor started me on Progesterone. 100mg twice a day.
3/7/08 - ultrasound - saw a heartbeat and slightly heard it! 6wks and 1 day. My due date is 10/30/08. My next appointment is 4/7/08. The doctor was glad she had put me on progesterone because my cyst that produces the progesterone shrunk.
4/7/08 - Heard heartbeat on doppler. Heart rate was 166. Everything looks great. My next appointment is 5/12/08. They will take me off the progesterone at the end of week 13.
5/12/08 - 15 wks and 4 days. No weight gain, yet. Heart rate on doppler was 144. Ultrasound showed that I was having a baby boy! Next appointment is 6/17/08.
6/17/08 - 20 wks and 5 days. Jace Weston (we have already named him) measured 21 wks and weighs about 14 oz. I have gained about 6lbs so far (up to 148). He is very active and likes to kick his mother. We are half way through! Next appointment is 7/21/08. (Glucose test.)
7/21/08 - 25 wks and 4 days. I barely passed the glucose test. It had to be under 140 and I was 139. They said as long as it was under 140 that it was ok. I am anemic so I have started taking an iron supplement. I have gained 4 more pounds totaling a whole 10 pounds(up to 152). He measured 24 wks which is normal. His heartrate was 147. 101 days to go! Jace is constantly moving. I love it. Next appointment is 8/18/08.
8/18/08 - 29 wks and 4days. I gained 6 pounds this month! Yikes! I am up to 158. His heartrate was 148 and he measured 28 wks. Everything looked good. I am going on vacation in two weeks for 10 days so she discussed what to and not to do while gone. I am starting to go to the doctor every two weeks now, but with vacation in two weeks it will be three weeks until my next appointment. 73 days to go. Jace is definately getting bigger! Next appointment 9/8/08.
9/8/08 - 32 wks and 4 days. I gained 5 pounds in three weeks! I'm up to 163 now. His heart rate was 138. They did a few tests to make sure is amniotic fluid wasn't leaking including an ultrasound. He has hair already! Everything looked fine and he still is a boy. Whew! I bought him so many clothes on vacation so that is a big relief. 52 days to go. They didn't measure him this week, but I go back in two weeks. Next appointment 9/22/08.
9/22/08 - 34 wks and 4days. I gained 7 pounds in two weeks this time! I'm up to 170. I think it is just water weight or that is what i'm telling myself anyway! His heart rate was 144 and he measured 33 weeks. I have 38 days to go. That does not sound long! I go back in two weeks and then start my weekly visits. My next appointment is 10/7/08.
10/7/08 - 36 wks and 5 days. I gained 2 more lbs this week bringing me to 172. 30 pounds in total. Heartrate was 132. I was dialated 1 centimeter and 75% effaced. He has dropped and is head down ready to go. They are going to induce me the 22nd if I don't go before. I go back to the doctor the 14th to see if I have dialated any more. If not I will go to the hospital the night before, but if i have dialated to 2 or 3 then I will go the morning of the 22nd. Next appointment is 10/14/08.

Have you decided on any names for your baby boy? How have you been feeling lately? I feel good other then the darn headaches nearly everyday. My big ultrasound is on Thursday and I cannot wait to find out what we're having. I'm thinking boy. Just wanted to check in with ya and make sure everything is going well for you and your baby!

Thank you! Congratulations on having a little boy. Most of my friend that I know that are due in October are all having boys too. I think it would make my husband's day if we find out that we are having a boy. We have our ultrasound appointment this Monday the 9th at 8:00 a.m.

I feel down a freakin hill walking my dog!!! Baby was fine, but it scared the hell out of me. The Dr. said that the baby is still so protected at this time. If I was further along, it would have been worse. Be careful!!

I have bad allergies every day, i just cope but My friend takes garlic capsuls you can get them any where that sells vitamins she says they help and there are no additives. and even if they end up not helping garlic helps with everything from the flu to indigestion to athsma.

I am also due on Oct 30. My husband and I tried for awhile too. Thats so cool you already found out what the sex is! I have to wait until 20 wks, my u/s is scheduled for June 12. I cannot wait to find out and start planning baby's room. How have you felt through your pregnancy so far? Are you showing yet? Have you felt baby moving yet? I just like to talk to other first timers! Not trying to be nosey ;-)

I don't know if you have gotten your answer about using a Doppler yet, but I have one and was able to hear the heartbeat for the first time at 9 weeks 3 days. I am 14 weeks 2 days today. If you are using it correctly, you will probably hear your own heartbeat more than the little one's. Depending on how high your uterus is sitting in your belly and what position the baby is laying in, at this point you will hear it about halfway up the length between the pubic bone and belly button. Start by putting ultrasound gel in the middle of your belly or on the end of the Doppler. If you are using a machine that didn't cost much money ($20) you probably won't hear it until about 20 weeks or so. I spent $110 on mine on Ebay. Anyways...starting in the middle, angle the Doppler head slightly towards your pubic bone and start moving it towards your hip bones, first one side and then the other. Move slowly, cuz once you get the heartbeat, you will find it in about a 1-inch location surrounding that spot and depending on the angle of the Doppler, it will sound louder or softer. If you hear a very loud wooshing sound, one either side of your belly closer to your pubic bone, you are too far and are hearing your iliac arteries that run through your hip bones to your legs. Move closer towards the center of your belly and try lower then higher. You WILL know the sound when you hear it. It might sound like galloping horses or a choo-choo train. Coolest thing in the world. You'll be able to locate it within seconds every time you listen after that. Good luck!!!

I have heard that you can use it as much as you want! That is completely up to you. From what I understand this is just a really high tech stethoscope and some women will use them their entire pregnancy.

Once you figure it out you will love it!! i have used it 4 times since I have gotten mine and found it right away...I never realized it would be soooo low! I watched a couple of youtube videos and realized that i was way too high on my belly, that it's not right under your belly button like you would think. Good luck!

It took me forever to figure out how to use it...so I will give you a hint!! Think LOW! LOL, i was shocked how low I had to go...I was at the beginning of my, well, pubic hair...sorry TMI!! LOL, right in the middle and I have to tilt it down a tad too...take your time...go slow and I promise you will find it!!

We have the same due date! Yeah! I was on progesterone as well! I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks and after my first blood test my doc put me on it! At 12 weeks I was able to ween off of it becuase my doc said it may cause spotting?? Non of that though and I have stopped taking it for about 10 days now! So don't worry it did the job!

I am also on the same amount of progesterone and following the same protocol, my doctor said to stop at 12 weeks, use only 100 mg daily on week 13 and then completely stop, I am scared of it...I know the tiniest spot and I am going to go nuts. It's a relief to read that the placenta should be doing its job by now...so no need to worry...Hang in there

I was on progesterone from about 4 weeks. At 8 weeks, I chose to stop taking it - a really difficult decision, but I've had hyperemesis and my OB said that was a sign that I had enough hormones on my own. If I had not stopped at that time, I was already scheduled to come off of it at 12 weeks...
While the placenta is developing, the ovaries are responsible for secreting the hormones that sustain the pregnancy, the most important of which is progesterone. By 12 weeks, the placenta is completely formed and has taken over for the ovary. Once the placenta is doing the job, supplemental progesterone is unnecessary.

im confused about the whole trimester thing too, but from my understanding, the first trimester is up to the end of week 12, so when u reach week 13 u r then in the 2nd trimester!! i think thats right anyway!!this is my first pregnancy and im having my first scan on thursday. im guessing that ur from USA? U guys all seem to have had loads of scans/listening to heartbeat etc really early on! im from England and have literally not had anything apart from a chat with my midwife so am very excited but nervous about this scan!!!

Hey, I feel exactly how you do with no m/s but no appetite to really eat anything. I lost about 5 pounds and the doc wasn't concerned. I try to find something healthy to munch on, I like baby carrots, and if you want something that isn't very health go for it because its better to eat something than nothing. About the fatigue, personally I am VERY busy but I do try to sneak in a nap here or there when I can. Hope it all works out for you and keep in touch, Angie

Hello..I got to hear the heartbeat at 10 weeks 2 days...that was my first dr. appt. We couldn't find it at first then there it was! LOUD AND CLEAR! JUST AMAZING! I got my doppler at Babybeat.com....It has a read out of the heart rate beats per minute too....It is $46/month....There are a lot of others out there that a cheaper I'm sure...Just go to google.com and type in fetal doppler....You'll get a ton of websites...It's just so nice to be able to hear it when you want! I LOVE IT! My next appt isn't until Apr 22....My next ultrasound isn't until second week of June(SO FAR AWAY)!!!
That cartoon was ME the first 5 1/2 weeks!!! I am not kidding either!!! I wasn't sick with my daughter but this time....OH MY GOD! At least it is much better now! I can eat again! YEAH! Well keep me posted and anytime you want to chat I am here...Take care. Tracey

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY! Hope you are doing good! Any morning sickness? I had it from 5 weeks to 10 1/2 weeks...It FINALLY is GONE!!! LOL! I'll be 13 weeks tomorrow...Hearing the heartbeat is the BEST! I just got a doppler online and I get to hear my LITTLE PEANUT'S heartbeat everyday! What a way to start the day! I LOVE IT!
