Hi everyone and congrats to all of you mommies-to-be! I'm Veronica and I've been married to my husband Stan since October 7, 2006. We live in Indiana where we both grew up. Although Stan is 13 years older than me. He does Marketing for a living and I work in Payroll. This is our first baby so we are so excited but also nervous. Neither one of us know anything about babies so this should be an adventure. We normally spend our time riding motorcycles and hanging out with friends who's children are almost grown. This will definitely be a big change for us. I hope we can keep our sanity. :) Fortunately a couple we are very good friends with just had a baby in September so we are already learning a lot from them.
I wish you all the best of luck and hope we can all learn a lot from each other.

Well, I'm 31 weeks and I can safely say I'm feeling the pains of pregnancy. My freaking stomach is so sensitive. It's almost like I'm stretching so fast my skin can't keep up. It just hurts and aches with every move. Even clothes hurt sometimes. Thankfully no stretch marks have arrived yet. Also, my boy keeps punching my round ligament and it just feels like a knife is stabbing my side. I just can't seem to get relief from the pain and discomfort these past few days. I guess maybe this is just my body's way of getting me used to pain gradually. Ugh...

February 13, 2008

So we had our second birthing class tonight. This was the first one my husband went to. I hate to admit this but I think he might drive me crazy during labor. He's just not very attentive. And he was so figity in the class. He has to be out of town for the next two classes so my mom will go with me. As much as I want my husband to be my "coach" It's looking like my mom will most likely be more helpful. It's just not in the poor man's nature to deal well with these things. It's a little disappointing because I would love for him to be all about it. But I also know back when I was born, men were hardly involved at all.

On a cheery note, my showers are just around the corner. One on the 23rd and one on the 1st of March. I have to admit, I've been peeking at my registries! I can't wait! Next Dr. appt is Friday.

February 19, 2008

Alright, I'm going to use this page to vent my a$$ off. This must be my week to ride the emotional rollercoaster. My husband is not a sympathetic person at all and treats me as if I'm just as fit as I was before I was pregnant. Not once has he thought to help me more around the house or with grocery shopping or anything for that matter. He just left for 3 days and didn't change the bottle on the watercooler after I asked him at least 3 times to do it before he left. Now I have to go get some bottled water. I did laundry all weekend and he never once offered to carry the baskets up or down the stairs for me. I asked him if he could clean up after dinner last night since I was still doing laundry and paying bills and he just completely ignored that I even asked him. I've asked him to come with me when I do the grocery shopping because now days it wears me out. But no, he won't go with me and doesn't help carry them in when I get home. I don't think he's being this way on purpose, I really think he's just freaking clueless. I just want to knock some sense into him. I hope the baby takes a big crap on his laptop and throws up on his remote when he gets here. I know I sound awful but I'm just at that point today where nothing seems to be going right. Can't sleep, can't poop, insurance issues, dogs are on my nerves, sick of working, housekeeper quite with no notice and my husband is a slob, snow is moving in tonight and heartburn now attacks me nightly. AGGGHHH! Lord, please let this mood pass QUICK!

February 25, 2008

Thank goodness my terrible mood has passed. I'm just full of excitement these days. I've had my first shower with one more to go this Saturday. So strange seeing all of the baby items in my house. At times it seems like the time is going fast then at other times it seems like it's taking so long for him to get here. I'm just really excited to meet my baby boy. His movements are so pronounced now. I do have moments where I fear something will be wrong with him. Things like Downs Syndrome or various other things. I have no reason to be fearful but it is in the back of my mind at times.
Sleeping has become a chore these days which makes for a miserable day at work. And eating is no longer fun since I get so full so quickly and burp up everything for an hour afterward. Other than that I don't really have any major issues thank goodness. Just some common aches and pains. All in all I have to say I have enjoyed my pregnancy. I feel so blessed that things have gone so well. So many people, even close friends of mine, have had so much trouble and heartache with pregnancy. We are truly blessed. Just five weeks to go now. I hope they are as wonderful as the past weeks.

Thank you very much. The doctor said he isn't sure that this is why he isn't gaining weight. He is so small, only 15 lbs 7 oz. I am pretty worried about him. I wish he would gain...

is your little one feeling better? I've given Michael Pedialyte twice at the nurse's suggestion when he's had an upset tummy. Just a few ounces at a time to make sure he keeps it down, but he didn't have any problem with it. He looked at the bottle kinda funny when he realized it wasn't formula, but he drank it right down! I gave him the apple flavor.

I'd like to have a family picture taken next month also. I want my mom and dad and sister with her baby too. I don't know if I'll get Jacob's picture with Santa or not. He's actually afraid of people with gray or white hair these days, so I think it might traumatize him! My mom and dad's poor neighbors who just want to see or hold him, but if they have really white hair, he just bursts into tears.

I used to love the theme to Hogan's Heroes when I was little! I taped it on a tape recoder. That and the theme to Big Valley.

What a cutie pie Mersey! I have the same picture of Claire with one eye open and her hand in her mouth. I just love it! Aren't they just amazing! :D

Thanks so much! I hope my mom gets teary eyed too! I actually got a little choked up myself, it is just crazy how much my little baby has turned into more of a little boy.

That sounds like a fun trip. I don't know if we'll take Jacob or not. The trip was originally planned for this past May when I thought I'd go there when Jacob was only 6 weeks! Ha! Can you imagine? We get a good airline rate at the Ritz Carlton there and they have the Itsy Bitsy Ritz rooms designed for babies. But now that I'm all paranoid about what kind of mattress he sleeps on and all that, I wouldn't even care what they provide because I wouldn't use it. But still, we really fell behind when I wasn't working. I don't see the Ritz in our future anytime soon. I know what you mean about wanting an assistant! I actually found a great lady on care.com who came to our house on Mondays and cleaned all of the bathrooms, vacuumed, and she would mop the tile in the kitchen for $25 a week. Pretty good compared to what the services cost. But then her dad hurt himself and she went back to CA for a couple months. I hired her in preparation for going back to work, so now I'm flying my trips and coming home and trying to get everything done. I've also been looking on care.com for someone to come as a mother's helper even just for a couple hours a week to watch Jacob while I get things like bills done and stuff, but I haven't found anyone yet. "Sink Reflections" is the name of an organizing/home book by Marla Cilley who is known as The FlyLady. When Jacob was 4 months and our house was a total disaster, I started following the lists and routines in her book. She's really big on taking it just a little at a time. So it took a few months, but I got us out from under the horrible mess we'd created. And I was so organized right before the baby! But it was all ruined within three days and I never fully recovered. So yeah, I hate feeling fat, disorganized, and like it takes all day just to get going and never finishing up anything. But the book helped me out a lot and our days and weeks have a general order to them. You can look her up online under Fly Lady. She's always featured in magazines and stuff. I'm trying to go through everything on my desk right now. Jacob is asleep and there are so many papers and lots of mail to go through. I was just taking a computer break. Anyway, let me know if figure out any other tips that have worked for you. I thought I'd get some things done while flying and during all that hotel time I get, but all I did was read and watch TV. I think I'll have to learn to manage my time on the road to get bills paid and phone calls made. That's quality time I shoudn't waste.

mommyinthesky - Saturday, 1 November
Hey, Just read about the time management issue. It is a problem. I started getting up at 4:30am to run, got really motivated, ran a 5K, kept up the running, and after all that I lost maybe 1/2 a pound. I've been reading my Fly Lady book Sink Reflections again because it really helped for awhile, but so hard to keep up. It seems like Jacob needs so much attention during the day, I can't get anything done and now being gone and coming home to mountains of mail and laundry, it takes the whole time just to catch up. We'd wanted to go to Cancun in May for our anniversary, but I don't know if I'll work enought to make what we need for the trip. Are you guys going alone or bringing Garrett?

kbpc3949 - Tuesday, 21 October
Oh that will be great!

kbpc3949 - Tuesday, 21 October
Hey, Natalie from Studio N will be in Indy today. She's not coming to see you is she? :)

babydane - Tuesday, 21 October
Thank you
How is your little man doing?

mommyinthesky - Tuesday, 21 October
Ever since I had the baby when my period comes it comes and goes, just like that. Like it kind of started 3 days ago, then nothing, but today was heavy and then the past few months I won't have anything and then it will be heavy nothing for 2 days and then heavy again. I wonder if that's how it will be from now on.

bluebeanz - Tuesday, 21 October
Kind words of advice to follow - Use ALL of the cream on him. Trust me. I'm still dealing with a yeast issue with Claire and it's been 2 months. It won't go away!!!! Tomorrow I'm going to get yet another cream. AGH! Poor baby. :( The first time she got a cream the dr. at the hospital I went to (we were out of town) told me to only use it for 10 days. Well when I went to see my dr. she said you are supposed to use it all! Treat it aggressively! Good luck.

babyharris - Saturday, 18 October
Hang in there honey and stay pleasant! I would feel the same way as you! Shedding dog hair...that's gross! Just remember it will be over soon and have a talk with hubby letting him know about the dog issue so they don't bring the dog next time...because there will be a next time. Good for you if you were qble to handle the in law visit without getting edgy, I alwayss have a tough time trying to act as if I'm OK when I am really ticked off inside.

coliflower - Saturday, 18 October
Ha! I feel your pain my in-laws are here right now too and they are staying here for another two nights. They always leave my house looking like a crack house I end up cleaning for like the whole day after they leave.
