GOOD LUCK!!

BabyBennett - Tuesday, 8 July
I am breastfeeding, which has been going really well, but as of today she is slightly disinterested, so we'll see what plays out there... I'm hoping we can pull through it. As for the hospital bag - I'm a bad one to ask. :) We ended up leaving ours in the car and didn't even think about it until after she was born! The only things I wanted after the fact was some hot chocolate that I had brought (for breakfast), her baby book for foot prints, and some clothes for baby to wear home. A note – the “newborn” outfits that I brought were way too big for her. She was 7lbs 7oz and swimming in the 5-8 lbs clothes. The only things that fit her at this point are the Gerber 0-3 month onesies that come in a five pack at pretty much every store. They are TINY compared to the newborn and 0 – 3 month clothes from every other company, and I almost returned them, but am grateful now that I didn’t. Oh, I did bring some old pajama pants and sleep shirt that I wore instead of the hospital gown after things had calmed down. OH – and a nursing bra. I forgot one (and I HATE not wearing one except for sleeping), and wore my regular one which was a pain. As for sizes, I’m still wearing the same size bra that I wore throughout the end of my pregnancy (which was a regular one that was slightly too large of a cup size, but barely…). I think my milk has come in because it is a solid white color, but I haven’t experienced the pain and engorgement that everyone speaks of, so I’m not sure if this will be my final size or not. Oh, a cell phone charger. Our phones were constantly searching for signals, and the batteries died a few times so we were fortunate to have the charger for them. Also, as a side note, make sure someone is assigned to take pictures throughout the whole first bath/diaper changing/etc. session. Not the quick cleanup after birth, but the session where they do the sponge bath, the dad does the diaper change, and such. I’m already looking back and loving the pics and she’s only 4 days old! I’m sure I forgot a ton, but feel free to ask away. Total labor was 12 hours with 4 hours of pushing, but to be honest, once I had the epi - time flew! Once they cut off the epi and I was "natural" everything was in 2 minute increments and really did not seem like hours because you are so focused on pushing and recovering your breath for the next push.

I just had my little girl last night and tore on the inside which I didn't even know was possible. It makes sense thinking about it now, but it never occurred to me before. My little girl was 7lbs 7oz, so not that big, but she still tore me. I'm loving the ice at the hospital now, but they said at least a week of burning.... :(

Any child rearing advice you want to throw my way would be appreciated - this is our first little kidlet, so we have a LOT to learn!

The best advice that I have heard so far is to have some ready made ice packs in your freezer (1 cup rubbing alcohol 4 cups water mixed, and then divided into ziplock bags) so that if you have any ripping or tearing you can slide them into your pants and sit on them to ease the pain and burning. I always double bag the ziplock bags since I'm not a fan of having things leak and with the pressure of sitting on them, they may. They will not freeze solid, and conform to your body shape. Another friend told me that she put this mixture in condoms and tied them off and placed them where she needed them as well. I've always had a towel between myself and the bags, so I"m not sure how well that would work, but she swears by it! Other friends have said to fill a diaper with ice and sit on it, but I like the ice bag idea better as I don't want to have to sit in a pool of water!

I am good, c-section is not all that bad yea recovery time sucks but the only advice I can give is try try and try again to keep moving dont' sit around and say you can't do anythign because the longer you baby it the longer it will take to heal from it, but just don't over do it know your boundries and try to keep walking a little at a time it will all be over with soon and you will have your Beautiful baby boy in your arms to hold forever keep head up and just remember if it has to happen it is for a reason good luck and best wishes
