01/01/08 New Years Eve in Bend OR

2 Days Prego (aprox) and have no clue!

12 weeks later

I am so excited to be having my first baby! I am 36 and never had much of a desire to have children. Everyone said I would change my mind and when I hit 30 I started thinking about it. Partly because my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer and partly my age (tick tock). I wasn't even sure if we could conceive after his chemo and didn't want to set myself up for disappointment by wanting something I couldn't have. Well it was a tough decision with my hubbys uncertain future but I stopped my birth control 3 months prior to conceiving and wah lah, I-am-pregnant and so excited. It is amazing that a few months ago I wasn't sure if this is what I should do and now I want it more than anything!

I am so impressed with some of you girls pages, I don't know where you find all that stuff and how you get it on your page but it sure is cute and interesting. I took my second belly pic today but I just got a new puter that doesn't have an SD slot so I'm going to have to find a cable to connect my camera to post more pics. I bought more stuff for my nursery today :) .So fun. I am doing a rainforest room that I woulod love to look like the rainforest cafe (for those of you who have been there). If you havn't been to one you can look on youtube.com at travelers visits to one or go to Disneyland, it is such a fun place, I can't wait to take my child to a Rainforest Cafe' (and Disneyland of course). Ayways, I got some containers for toys that are made out of some jungly looking stuff. I also recently bought a big bamboo area rug and these HUGE floor to ceiling plants (fake, but they are really nice not fake looking) I got them at Costco and people were wanting to help me load them because they thought they looked too heavy for me to lift on my own. ha ha. They are actually light since they are not real. Go Costco, I love that place. I also put up bamboo string lights and got some cute little froggy outfits and receiving blankies. Cute cute cute! I love decorating. 12 weeks along and I've gained 5 lb's already, this is very scary for me. I think part of it might be because I didn't have any morning sickness (praise God) so I
didn't have any problem with apetite all this time but I was severely fatigued and therefore I layed around for weeks eating and getting no exercize. I'm 5'7 and started out at 129 which I was happy with. Now I'm 134 and super nervous about putting on too much weight. I think this 2nd trimester will be a really good opportunity to reign in the weight gain though because I am feeling more energy already and will be getting alot more exercize. Yay!

Week 14 March 24th

Well I've gained 10 lbs and am officially freaking out! Aghhh! I know I've been pushing it a little but I didnt think it was that bad! I'm feeling huge! Too much ranch dressing! I was fortunate enough to never have MS so maybe when everyone else appetites were stifled, mine was full speed ahead. Anyways, Must slow it dow!

Ok, I'll try to focus on something else for a min. I haven't felt the baby kick yet. I can't wait. I feel for it now and then but nothing so far. I was tired today and thought I'd lay down for a few and woke up 2 hours later. That was niiice. Been stressad the last couple of days and I'm not sure if it's hormones or legit but I'm suspecting the hormones are making me over react. I experienced one of those pains I keep hearing about where you sneeze and it hurts in the uterine area, ouch. That was fun:) Still loving being pregnant. Starting to get concerned about labor though. Totally freaked out about childbirth, always have been. I'm not worried just not knowing what to do. EPI or no EPI? If no epi then water birth or no water birth? childbirth classes or no childbirth classes? the list goes on and on, so many decisions. Well thats about it for now. Cant wait to find my camera cord so I can download some belly pics. I feel monstrous, lol.

Baylee Marie - Monday, 22 September
My doctor noticed I had a small pelvis at 32 weeks in my first pregnancy and told me to read up on c-sections. I ended up having to be induced at 41 weeks, went through 18 hours of labor and then had an emergency c-section. Even at 41 weeks my baby was 6 lbs 14 oz. My doc wanter to give me the opportunity to try natural labor, but kind of knew it wasn't gonna happen. I also had GD that I managed really well with diet, but was on bedrest and ended up with pre-eclampsia. This pregnancy, my second, I stayed active, ate right and I've only got 1 lb. left to loose to be back at pre-pregnancy weight! This time- I checked into the hospital at 10am, walked into the operating room at 12pm, and had my second son at 12:36 pm. The recovery has been amazing. I'm not going to lie, it was hell the first time around, my body was so exhausted after labor, pushing and then surgery. On the bright side, both times, the baby was pretty much the only thing I was allowed to lift. Just know, that if labor does end in a c-section, the hospital stay is longer and you'll definitely need help. If you have a sister, mother, mother-in-law that can come stay for a bit, esp. the first week home from the hospital, it makes a big difference. My mom was awesome with my first, she let me take care of the baby and really just left me alone, but made sure I got breakfast and lunch and that the laundry was done. and when hubby got home from work she'd make us both dinner. This time around she did the same, but also occupied my almost 2 year old son, which was a huge help. The baby will be 2 weeks tomorrow and I've already done a couple days on my own with the two boys- so far so good!
I wish you all the luck in your labor and delivery. No matter how baby comes into this world, you'll love her just the same. Just make sure it's safe and healthy for both of you!

It worked for me too!! I was having mild irregular contractions but I started in w/the nipple thing and BAM my contraction got really intense and if I kept doing it I kept having contractions. If I stopped doing it the contractions stopped....

LoL Here here! And cheers to all that. I was supposed to have my appointment tomorrow (Tue) but my BF HAS to work all day, ugh, so I remade it for Wednesday, and it's with a dif. doctor because there are like 4 of them in that particular practice and the one I have been seeing is only there on Tuesdays. I'm nervous because I hope she isn't worse or as bad as my doctor I've been seeing, lol.. Either way though that's what Mike's going for, MORAL SUPPORT. lol, this way she can't gang up on me and try to convince me how her ideas are the best, right ideas..(ex: foley cathedar ) Like I said as far as I'd be willing to go this week is a "membrane sweep" I guess.. but other than that I am DEFINATELY feeling the 42 week waiting.. it IS give or take a week to ten days I think anyway when they GUESSTIMATE your "due date" (stupid to have just one day anyway) they need to seriously change that, lol I agree, then everyone would maybe chill out! But if there's no die hard life or death reason to try and schedule me an induce date I'd like to wait it out as close to the 42 week point, GOODLUCK with your doctor, and yes hopefully they will come on their precious own very soon! P.S. On a fun note as I was typing this I was reading just to the left one of your posts on your page, LOL the Rainforest Cafe ROCKS and YES lol, I can not WAIT to take her to Disney Land!!I know she's going to be too young to have a clue as to what's going on, but in the next few months we're going to take baby and visit my mom in LA and Mike and I were just talking last night how we are going to go to Disney Land as long as we're so close, Woohoo! Very excited, lol. Somethin' to look forward tooooo.. Happy Thoughts!!

Thank you! I didn't know that we were going to name Gavan until the night before I had a c-section. Even then, we spent some time with him first and then I looked at my husband and said "Gavan Matthew?" and he said yes. For me, I liked first names that are a little different (not weird!) and very traditional middle names. My first son, Asher, has my fathers name for a middle name, Daniel and Gavan has my best friends name for his middle, Matthew. We didn't have girl names this time around because I was seeing a perinatalogist and knew almost the whole pregnancy I was having a boy. I like my younger sister's name, Melanee Ann. My cousins daughter is London Olivia, I also like London Marie. We actually did a pilot for a tv show that centers around naming a baby and the premise was I was having a girl- we did it in April, but some of the names that we discussed were- Harper, Kennedy, and Ailee (eye-lee). I baby sat for a family of 9 and their girls are Samantha Diane, Marki Ann, Tatum Michelle and Charli Elizabeth. Marki was supposed to be Mark Jr., but the just added the I dropped the jr. and viola! She was also a class member on the show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" and she'll be on an episode of "Medium" this fall- check out IMDB.com search Marki Ann Meyer if you want to see her pic. I also like Caroline. Hope that helps! :)

Hey thanks for your comment in week 40. Made me feel better.. as much as it can! True though my doctor was looking at me last week all like "We better start talking induction next week because 0 progress is being made down there" when she checked me nothing has happened yet. I've been trying to avoid coming on here lately because everyone whose had their babies, especially if they were induced just for nothing, are making me sick. lol. Oh well, but I'm glad I caught your comment, damn she's just barely due, it could happen at any moment so wtf! Reading all of those stupid posts just makes me more anxious, dumb bit**ez, seriously, stay away with your new babies, that's why there's a damn baby forum! Thanks for letting me vent.. LABOR DUST. I'll be happy chattin with ya baby talk when our bundles are 'here'.

zavana - Sunday, 21 September
yes, just that wait of WHEN?? its going to happen is starting to kill me..but i know i can wait longer, ive waiting this long so far so im sure a few weeks wont be that bad! HAHA,

zavana - Friday, 19 September
why is the Dr making you feel uneasy about being late? thats silly!!
im doing good, just sitting here waiting but not stressing haha
its kinda funny to think back when i was like 20 weeks or so and wishing my due date would hurry up as ill give birth close to it, and now that its here already, im in no hurry to give birth unlike all these other ladies that scream to get induced. Im loving being pregnant at the mo! and like you said your body knows when the time is right so why try to go against it?
i weighed myself today, i have put on 15kgs! im amazed, but dont really care how much it is really as its made my baby!!
Oh keep forgetting to ask, any names yet? im still in the boat of no-names haha

zavana - Thursday, 18 September
thanks! GOOD LUCK to you for your up coming labour if i dont talk to you before then..
Went to see my midwife 2day and she said if i havent had him by the 3rd that ill end up having a scan and get an induction date which would be likely the 7th Oct. Hopefully he comes by then.
Im making sure im staying fit and well aswell as not trying to think of giving birth and the pain..think postive..wont be long till we get to hold our much awaiting babies...YAY!!
How are you? keeping well??

pixiekate - Wednesday, 17 September
baby yet?

beckyh - Wednesday, 17 September
Yeah, I have considered the statistics. Roughly 30% of inductions end in c-sections for one reason or another. The one thing I have going for me is that she's already head down, so we don't have to worry about her being breech. The biggest concern is that I'm fairly small (5'2"). I don't have the narrowest pelvis in the world, and I have a history of back problems, narrowing discs, and an old compresssion fracture in my lower back from the military. (The same incident that caused the fracture caused half of my pelvis to shift out of position, so there are additional concerns there as well.) to make matters worse, my little girl appears to have my husband's big ol' pumpkin head and current estimates of weight are between 8.5 and 10 pounds.

We've been trying to balance the increased risk of c/s from induction with the increased risk of the same result if she gets too big. My cycles were like clockwork, so we're pretty certain that my due date is on the money, plus or minus one day or so. At this point, the longer she stays in, the greater the risk I won't be able to deliver naturally.

So many girls seem to be having problems with their doctors. Luckily, mine has been an absolute angel. She gives information, but never pushes an agenda. Even with not wanting my to go past the due date, everything she said was qualified with a reason why, an explanation of pros and cons, and plenty of time for me to think it over and make up my own mind. Maybe that's why I feel comfortable in accepting this outcome, even if it isn't exactly the dream scenario. I would rather this situation while there's still a chance for a natural delivery than wait too long and lose all chance whatsoever!

newmom08 - Wednesday, 17 September
Birth story on my page... check it out!

zavana - Tuesday, 16 September
Dont be sorry at all!
Do they just want to check you to see how things are looking or something? I dont get that here unless i get induce in which i dont want too.
ok if its average of 8 days over, ill be trying to have bubs on the 27th or 29th going by my first due date that was given..haha, the time will come. Im trying to keep positive lately coz i know its going to happen whenever, and im already starting to get people saying oh you will be begging for drugs, oh its going to hurt ( i know that!) blah blah, yet i dont need any of that negative stuff hanging over my head. I want to go inot labour feeling on top of the world, knowing that i can do it how i want and give birth to him like i want..gosh here i am going on about myself..
Must be painful if you pulled a muscle in your belly..and also having the replacement that is causing to extra stress! Not what you need right now!!

zavana - Sunday, 14 September
your down to less then a week now!!
SO EXCITING ISNT IT?

MikeysGirls - Thursday, 11 September
=) Thanks for that.. You too! LoL Yeah I'd swear sometimes I'm readin' week 42, not that it's EASY carryin' her around so much as it seems more convenient.. kinda! lol

jae - Thursday, 11 September
i woul def reccomend kneeling on the floor or standing cause the force of gravity helps alot i had loads of braxton hicks last night. my midwife wouldnt let me sit on the bed but im glad she never cause it was soooooo much easier bent over lol.

ashawee08 - Tuesday, 9 September
lol.. thanks!! yeah i've read up on it.. it scares me alot and i dont want to do it and the only reason i'm doing it is because my fiance is being deployed in the first week of october and he was crying to me because he wants to see his son born.. and wants to be able to spend time with him before he leaves... if he wasnt leaving i would just wait it out...

ashawee08 - Tuesday, 9 September
lol... thanks!! yeah i know.. he's a really good doctor.. he didnt tell me he was going to induce me.. i told him that my fiance was leaving to go to iraq when i first found out and i talked to him about it before thats why he told me he would do it.. i dont want to do it but my fiance really wants to be here for the birth of his first son soo that's why i'm doing it.. thanks though hunnie!!

zavana - Tuesday, 9 September
GOOD ON YOU! :)

pixiekate - Sunday, 7 September
so glad you are feeling good! i hated walking when i was pregnant:-(, and any exercise besides swimming....which is strange because normally all is do is work out! you are very fortunate to not have any complications....this should make your birthing experience wonderful. i remember really focusing on not having fear of birthing, to challenge the pain and think of the millions of women who gave birth prior to me. anyway! i know, i haven't written any blogs because i don't have time anymore!!! i really would like to start writing again. well, keep me posted on everything, i am so excited for you! xoxo

pixiekate - Sunday, 7 September
OMG! i can't believe you're 38 weeks!! how do you feel??? i'm so excited for you to have this baby!
