01/01/08 New Years Eve in Bend OR

2 Days Prego (aprox) and have no clue!

12 weeks later

I am so excited to be having my first baby! I am 36 and never had much of a desire to have children. Everyone said I would change my mind and when I hit 30 I started thinking about it. Partly because my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer and partly my age (tick tock). I wasn't even sure if we could conceive after his chemo and didn't want to set myself up for disappointment by wanting something I couldn't have. Well it was a tough decision with my hubbys uncertain future but I stopped my birth control 3 months prior to conceiving and wah lah, I-am-pregnant and so excited. It is amazing that a few months ago I wasn't sure if this is what I should do and now I want it more than anything!

I am so impressed with some of you girls pages, I don't know where you find all that stuff and how you get it on your page but it sure is cute and interesting. I took my second belly pic today but I just got a new puter that doesn't have an SD slot so I'm going to have to find a cable to connect my camera to post more pics. I bought more stuff for my nursery today :) .So fun. I am doing a rainforest room that I woulod love to look like the rainforest cafe (for those of you who have been there). If you havn't been to one you can look on youtube.com at travelers visits to one or go to Disneyland, it is such a fun place, I can't wait to take my child to a Rainforest Cafe' (and Disneyland of course). Ayways, I got some containers for toys that are made out of some jungly looking stuff. I also recently bought a big bamboo area rug and these HUGE floor to ceiling plants (fake, but they are really nice not fake looking) I got them at Costco and people were wanting to help me load them because they thought they looked too heavy for me to lift on my own. ha ha. They are actually light since they are not real. Go Costco, I love that place. I also put up bamboo string lights and got some cute little froggy outfits and receiving blankies. Cute cute cute! I love decorating. 12 weeks along and I've gained 5 lb's already, this is very scary for me. I think part of it might be because I didn't have any morning sickness (praise God) so I
didn't have any problem with apetite all this time but I was severely fatigued and therefore I layed around for weeks eating and getting no exercize. I'm 5'7 and started out at 129 which I was happy with. Now I'm 134 and super nervous about putting on too much weight. I think this 2nd trimester will be a really good opportunity to reign in the weight gain though because I am feeling more energy already and will be getting alot more exercize. Yay!

Week 14 March 24th

Well I've gained 10 lbs and am officially freaking out! Aghhh! I know I've been pushing it a little but I didnt think it was that bad! I'm feeling huge! Too much ranch dressing! I was fortunate enough to never have MS so maybe when everyone else appetites were stifled, mine was full speed ahead. Anyways, Must slow it dow!

Ok, I'll try to focus on something else for a min. I haven't felt the baby kick yet. I can't wait. I feel for it now and then but nothing so far. I was tired today and thought I'd lay down for a few and woke up 2 hours later. That was niiice. Been stressad the last couple of days and I'm not sure if it's hormones or legit but I'm suspecting the hormones are making me over react. I experienced one of those pains I keep hearing about where you sneeze and it hurts in the uterine area, ouch. That was fun:) Still loving being pregnant. Starting to get concerned about labor though. Totally freaked out about childbirth, always have been. I'm not worried just not knowing what to do. EPI or no EPI? If no epi then water birth or no water birth? childbirth classes or no childbirth classes? the list goes on and on, so many decisions. Well thats about it for now. Cant wait to find my camera cord so I can download some belly pics. I feel monstrous, lol.

THANKS SO MUCH!!! My mom is doing better. My parents got their power back after not having it for a little over two days. My mom was down to only having 1 tank of oxygen. There are so many familys that lost so much. I hope to take some pictures and post them so you guys can see. I'm to thankful that my family is ok now. I hope to get on often so I can catch up on everything. CONGRATS to those of you that have had your little ones and I thinks its great that I have such awsome friends on this site. THANKS again. hey hun, i just read your post on the birthing classes. my husband and i started them last week. i have to tell you, for me, it is way too much information. they show you videos and go through breathing techniques (which im not into) we have 3 more left, with next week being the tour of the hospital, i will do that one and probably not go to the last two. im just better not knowing too much. also, as far as what you want, make sure you go over it with your OB and then have a birth plan with you to go over with the nurse that is taking care of you. they will respect your wishes and do what you ask. they know very well not to mess with a pregnant woman!!

Hey there... I'm not sure where you are exactly but here in canada.. ON here for me, the nurses and Dr can tell you what needs to be done if necessary but as far as the rest of the birthing process no matter what they trow at you and advise they give it all comes down to you... annoying as it may be to have people throwing options your way its nice to know you have them... just make up your mind. I wouldn't go tot the classes but I would go to the hospital and find out about what your decisions and choices are based on. I did this with my first and they actually had a 10 dollar tour where they took you around, told you your choices and actually had you fill out a form about some of the options you would like available to you and those you did not... it was great. Best of luck!

Okay, yes I can see where cervical checks at your doctor's office might not be needed. And esp. where I see so many women asking for their docs to "strip their membranes" to hurry along the labor. I'm a big fan of, when she's ready, then she'll be here! When I was in labor they decided to break my water to "move things along" and frankly I had been making good progress and didn't really feel the need to hurry things up. Once done, the contractions took my breath away! As for monitoring, I did have to have my son monitored with a one of those probes on his head, but the timing was closer to his birth and it was important as he was starting to show signs of distress. My plan is to get to the hospital early and walk around the atrium for as long as possible before actually checking in. Last time I didn't have an IV and I will refuse this time as well (they do it more for convenience to the nurses... just in case they need a line). I'm going to try not to use pain relief again, it wasn't easy, I hyperventilated (bring a small paper bag with you) but in the end we were both alert and better for it. As far as my "no's" go... I am planning on breastfeeding so my first no is 1. No bottles! Not all nurses agree with this so it can be hard to enforce. The second is 2. No Hep B vaccine. Unless I'm positive for Heb B, which they will check prior to delivery, there is no reason to have this vaccine at birth. You can start the series at your first well-baby visit. The vaccine can cause some side effects that frankly I wouldn't want my little to have to handle within the first few hours of life... breathing is hard enough!!!

No they don't to be honest And I am annoyed with my DR. she was on vacation all last week...so I couldnt get any help from her or her "nurse" I assume if its not my liver they will say its PUPPPS and tell me to deal with it. Which sucks b/c I am scratching so hard I am cutting my skin open and I am afraid I will get infected...my husband wants to get me the mittens like little babies have lol.

Hi Michelle, hope things are going well for you. I just read your comment and would like to ask you a question or two and offer some advice. First, I am aware of the pros and cons of epidurals, but what's your reasoning behind not wanting to be monitored or to have cervical checks? Just curious. As for getting what you want at the hospital... you need to talk with your OB about things like birth position, IVs, etc... make a plan but be flexible, things can happen that derail our best intentions and ultimately what's most important is that baby and mom are healthy when all is said and done. Let me know your thoughts and then I'll share with you two of my "absolute nos" that I know will cause the hospital staff a headache :)

I hope to get the results on the liver test today when i go to the DR. I have been calling all week and the results wernt in yet.

I'm trying to catch up on all my messages. Sorry I havn't been on much nor for very long we had a really bad wind storm and my parents still don't have power. Ours has been working its been an off and on thing. It might be a little while when I can sit down and catch up but I will do my best. Please keep my mom in your prayers her name is Mary and she's on oxygen and is running low and she needs power and soon. Alot of homes had alot of damage from the 90 mph winds we had MANY trees have been up rooted.

as an experienced mom and "nurser" they usually tell you to go in at about 34 or 36 weeks to get fitted for a nursing bra and YES you do get bigger!! Most places are trained in knowing how much bigger they will get and can size you BEFORE you have the baby and your milk... but I did that with my first and it turned out to STILL be smaller, and I had to buy more in bigger sizes. I'd wait until a week after the baby is born before you get a nursing bra... besides who needs one at home?? haha take care and hope this info helped!

MrsSoller - Tuesday, 15 July
One of my friends had a baby last year, but I wouldn't hold him much cause i thought i would hurt him, and when i did hold him, i would get all hot and sweaty from being so nervous. But before that... I hadn't been around babies in almost 10 years. What about you... .how is your new born experience?!!
