This is a saguaro cactus in Tucson...looks like its pregnant too!

3-18-08

Pregnancy...I've always wondered what it would be like and now I'm knee...no chest deep in the sensation. I like it, its weird and interesting and an awesome feeling all at the same time as being a bit painful in my back and joints and completely exhaugsting. I saw myself in a window today as I was walking and thought 'oh my God! I really look big!' because I had just spent the morning thinking that my sweater hid the bump pretty well...not that I'm trying to hide it. I spend the first moments after I wake up humming to my little bean. My humming always gets it moving and it feels like a form of communication. I really like that time and it makes me wonder what the babe will do after its born and I hum and sing to it. I can't wait to find out.

3-13-08

So this little bean is 3.8lbs! Which makes me a little worried, even though I've been told your baby won't get bigger than your body can handle. I can't wait to see this kid, the ultra sound last week made it look exactly like my husband...even though it was hard to see everything, I could see the similarities already. I'm more excited about it each day. Although I went to a friends house, who has a 2 month old...and now I'm anxious at the same time. I feel so unprepared for crying baby at 3 in the morning. Hopefully the hormones will take over and I'll not care too much! The baby shower is next weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing what we get so I can go shopping and get everything we need. I'm officially nesting now. I'm sewing a diaper bag and a baby sling this week!

3-5-08

I just came back from the Nurse-midwife and everything is looking great. I love to hear the little bean's heart beating. I've gained 30lbs...which seems like a lot, but I guess I'll just be more in tune with loosing it later. I'm not really worried about how fat I might look after the babe comes, more like how fat I might look 9 months after the babe comes! Taking my dog for a walk is definately becoming more taxing, poor dear. He is having to suffice with slowly and around the block only, instead of jaunts across the whole neighborhood. My husband is dealing with all the changes in very good humor and is good at reminding me when I am just working myself up over nothing. Which seems to be a good thing to remember these days. I can't wait to see what this little bean is gonna look like and act like. Its so much easier to imagine now that I know its growing well and that everything will work out okay...not that I'm a pessimist or anything usually, I just didn't want to get my hopes up over things that could have gone so wrong...Maybe I've just seen too much at the hospital. But I'm feeling good and excited, and the baby shower is just around the corner so I'll soon be able to see what else we need to buy! I'm starting to nest I think!

2-25-08

I'm amazed to see how far I can stretch my abdomen...Its a strange feeling to have so much weight in front of me and I find myself swaying a bit when I walk. This past week has been way too emotional for my liking. I find myself getting anxious when I look at the calendar and see how close the due date is. I'm so excited about it, but at the same time I just don't feel ready. Its such a big change coming our way, its good that we have 9 months to get use to it before a screaming babe comes out. I know that everything will be ok, and even great, I guess its just the hormones making me feel this way. Maybe next week will be better.

I'm at 23 weeks today. The little bean is kicking away right now, which makes me happy and tells me its doing well. Things are not fitting anymore...I thought these maternity pants would last the whole pregnancy! Its hard to get enough sleep with hip pain and having to roll over and get up to pee. Although, I feel good and healthy so I've not got much to complain about. It won't be long now and I'll feel really uncomfortable and ready for this to be over with...so I'll just enjoy it for now!

1-23-08
I'm 22 weeks pregnant and getting use to all the new changes in my body and mind. The little bean is kicking away in there, making its presence known a couple times a day. I can't wait to see what the next coming weeks will bring in the changes to my body.

dedra40 - Friday, 9 May
Yeah I hope they go away. So she says thats what makes them come up-- all the estrogen? Seems weird but makes sense I suppose. Good luck with your pregnancy and thanks for commenting. Good to know I'm not the only one. I'm not even gonna tell hubby about it.. lol. Take care!

missannie - Friday, 9 May
thanks for the response :) it's definitely taking a toll on me emotionally though, as if i wasn't already a mess!!! i suppose that's true about the fat on the baby... i guess my only concern/question is that the actual measurements of the baby are all about 41 weeks right now, and as the u/s tech said "wow, the head is measuring off the scale!" GREAT. haha. so if i go to my due date, i'm curious how big everything else will have gotten!!! i'm just hoping that the baby comes out on it's own soon.... then we'd ALL be happy!!! but thanks again... how are things with you? everything going ok??? take care!

Thanks Mintea- I feel much better now that I was able to catch up on my rest. I have to go back to that place on Friday morning, but this time I am packing some lunch. I have learned my lesson, also I think I just really miss my regular doc. She was a sweet heart!

I am glad I could help - cloths aren't as bad, hard or "as expensive as disposibles" as some may try to convince you they are. If you prepare them all or a bunch in advance like have the liners already in them and ready to go it is just like have disposible ones anyways... and another lil' tip - buy those giant freezer zip lock bags... stick a few in your newly sewn diaper bag along with some extra diaper liners both cloth and disposible. Sometimes a change of the diaper is really only a liner or two, and when you do need to hold on to something like the washable liner/diaper roll it tight and you can fit 2-3 used/soiled diapers in ONE ziplock baggie. To wash it if you want just put some bleach and hot water in the bag, close it shake then rinse, turn inside out and let air dry. Or if not, just toss it (or recycle it) b/c their cheap and there are plenty in a single box! : )
Good luck to you and your family... congrats too!
Let me know if you have any other questions - I am more than glad to share my insights or advice.

Thanks so much for you response. I guess I want a natural childbirth, but I don't want to be one of those woman on a baby story that scream their guts out. I would like to take in the pain and try to breathe and relax. I will try reading that book. Some other people have suggested it as well. Thanks!

janellk - Friday, 14 Mar
thanks so much for posting on my page. I agree with you about losing it afterward. it is just very frustrating because I am not used to being big!!! lol

hotcaligirlz - Friday, 14 Mar
Thanks for the advice. My husband actually called today and spoke to the Dr. He was a lot more direct with her and she was completely understanding. Total 180 differnt. And she put me out! Yess! No more 12 hour work days and being scared of something happening from that!

shezzapochin - Sunday, 9 Mar
thanks for the posting on my page. If I remember correctly from my 1st pregnancy,I found the last 3 months to just drag on,and on, and on.Thanks for trying to make me feel better though!

Hi, Thanks for your posting on my page. On Monday I will start to do some calling around to find out what my insurance will cover as far as different birthing options. Thanks for the book titles, I am checking them out. It seems that the key to all of this is the mother being well informed about what her options are. I plan on enjoying the whole experience of my child birth. Take care, and thanks again.

elysec - Sunday, 2 Mar
Yes, I am pretty big so far. I think the baby would be given steroids (or I would!) if I were to deliver too early. I am not on bedrest or anything...should I be worried?

ering8r - Saturday, 1 Mar
I picked up the book, thanks. I'm not ruling anything out when it comes to childbirth, but I just want to be educated. Thanks for all the info!

ering8r - Friday, 29 Feb
Hi again, so if I get an epidural, I will most likely have to be laying down as my legs will be numb? Hmm, that definitely is something to consider!

ering8r - Thursday, 28 Feb
Hi Mintea, regarding your response to my post, that's another thing I questioned during the movie: Why does the hospital make you lie flat on your back? It's so counter-intuitive and doesn't work with gravity. How much flexibility is there in a hospital, will they let me change positions? Can you have a doula or midwife attend your birth at the hospital, or do they only do home births?

bdubb - Thursday, 28 Feb
I agree it is so funny how much my belly has grown over the past few weeks. I remember wanting to have the pregnant look and then bang all of a sudden youve grown a basket ball down there! It is kinda of strange getting used to the new look and feel. I walk past the mirror and have to do a double take it is like wow that is me.
