Hi, my name is Lesa and this is my story. I have a 3 and a half year old son. He is the light of my life and I enjoy every moment with him. When I was pregnant with him we lost his twin at 10 weeks. I was upset but at least I had my little boy to look forward to. It was almost surreal because I still had one baby and I had no idea I was having twins. In July of 2006, my husband and I tried to have another baby. We got pregnant right away but sadly we miscarried on my birthday in August. I was devastated. I really wanted that baby. I couldn't really try again until January of 2007. We got pregnant again in March and again, I miscarried.

In July of this year we were blessed with our fourth pregnancy. I started spotting again when I was six weeks. I went to the ER and they did bloodwork and an U/S and they told me that there was no heartbeat and to go home and take pills that would help my body miscarry naturally. I was devastated. I cried and cried. I thought it was different. The miscarriage was different because I stopped bleeding. I still felt pregnant. I just laid on the couch unbelieving that it happened again. I kept running to the bathroom waiting for the real bleeding to begin. I got to the point where I told my husband to go the the drugstore and get the pills. He came home and told me that he didn't think that I should take them. He told me to research what had happened. So, I did. What I found out shocked me. A fetal heartbeat does not start until 5 and a half weeks and I was just 6 weeks that day. I could have been 3 days off my calculations. I then went to my Doctor and told him to prove to me that this baby was dead. I asked for bloodwork to compare to the ones taken in the ER. He did, and low and behold they were going up instead of down. He then ordered another U/S. I thought the baby was gone but I needed the proof to move on. While I was having the ultrasound done, the tech turned the screen toward me and said "there's your baby." I then asked "is the heart beating?" she said yes. take a look. Sure enough there it was. I was so happy I cried.

So hear I am in my 23rd week and feeling as if this is my little miracle. My baby is a fighter. I am so thankful to my husband for not letting me take those pills. I just wish that the ER would have just known that a heartbeat could start within the week and told me to come back in a week instead of telling me to go home and miscarry. It could have caused me a little less stress.

Well, that is my story and I am looking forward to sharing the rest of my journey with you.

January 1st 2008,

Wow that is so weird to write that! We spent New Year's Eve with my brother and his wife. Not too exciting but we had good food and good company. I guess my new year's resolution is to eat healthier. Not to lose weight but to have a healthier body for me and my baby. I know that I have gained way too much this past month. I go and see my doctor on friday and I am dreading getting on that scale. I know the baby is getting bigger but so is my butt. LOL

Happy New year everyone!! May God bless you and your families in 2008!!

See how my baby is doing

Yesterday, hubby and I went pricing cribs. When my son was born we had the family crib but it got passed on to my brother who is expecting again in February so they still have it. Therefore, we need a new crib. We were only supposed to price them but we ended up buying one. Yay!! It is antique honey and is a convertible crib made by Ap industries. I really wanted white but my husband said that if it was a boy then he wouldn't want a white dresser when he got older and he is probably right. Now I have to find dresser/changing table combo in the same color. Oh boy!
I had my doctor's appointment today and he told me that I might not make working until march. I have been having real contractions for a couple of weeks now but nothing that is making me dialate. He is going to keep an eye on me and see. Hopefully, it stops and I can continue my pregnancy without any more problems. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat today. It is at 144 BPM. My idiot doctor always has the hardest time finding the heartbeat. It always worries me when he can't seem to find it. I gained 5lbs over the holidays eeek. So now I am back to my original weight. Not sure how I calculate how much I have gained. Do I calculate from my original weight or do I calculate from when I started gaining??? I am not sure about that.
Only 16 more weeks to go and about 11 more weeks of work, then I will have a whole year off with my son and baby!! Yay! I am so excited about that. Well hope to chat soon.

I have been back to work for a week now and my contractions are getting worse. It is very difficult to teach 8 and 9 year olds when I can't even stand up. LOL Anyway, I saw my GP today and he put me off work until we can get my contractions to subside. I am very worried and I cry a lot. I am so scared that my baby will come early. My husband has been great and has done all the laundry and cleaning. It is such a great help. I hate taking time off work but if it is what the baby needs then I will do it without complaint.
Love and prayers to all of you moms and babies!

This is day 2 of my official bed rest from work. I feel so guilty being home. I still have contractions when I move around too much so I try not to do too much. All I seem to do is surf the internet and eat. Dear lord I hope I don't gain too much weight. Grrrr. I see my OB/Gyn on Wednesday so I will know more about my situation then. Hopefully, my cervix is still closed tightly and still long and thick. I am really frightened because my sister went into labour at 29 weeks and had to stay in the hospital for 5 weeks and she had a 13 month old at home. I really do not want to go down that road. I had such a smooth pregnancy with my son. This baby is sure letting itself known. It is much more active than my first and it has worried me from day 1. It must be a girl LOL
Anyway, keep safe all you mommies and lots of love to all of your babies!

January 21, 2007

I just had my GD blood work done today. I went to the blood lab and there must have been 30 people waiting ahead of me. Then after waiting all that time I had to have my finger pricked to see what my blood sugar was at that time. I hate having my finger pricked. My grandmother had diabetes and used to prick us all the time to see our sugar levels. Just that clicking sound brings me back. Anyway, it is a good idea to check our blood sugar before we have the test. The technician said that they used to just give the test without checking the blood sugar before and it was spiking women's results really high and it was dangerous to give women more sugar when their levels are already high. So anyway, I drank the orange drink then waited an hour for them to take my blood in 30 seconds. I think I was at the hospital today for over 3 hours. Grrr. I love having free healthcare but I hate the line ups. I wasted my whole day. Okay now I am done ranting. I hope everyone is having a great day.

January 23, 2008
I had by OB appointment today. We discussed me going back to work and he said it was ok as long as I took it easy and watched myself. He also said he would monitor me every 2 weeks to make sure that my contractions don't do anything to my cervix. As of right now, my cervix is still closed so that is good news. yay!
I am so excited to go back to work. So all worked out well. Keep safe Mommies and lots of love to your little ones.

February 2nd, 2008
My husband and I went for another ultrasound on Friday and we caved in and found out that we are having a little girl. I thought that I didn't want to know but I am having so much fun shopping for her and getting her room just so. We still haven't decided on a name yet. I am kind of getting stressed out over that because I am still just calling her baby or "her". I hope she doesn't get a complex. I like the name Ella Grace but my husband doesn't seem to agree. I am sure that we will agree on one before she gets here. Which isn't too far away. Yikes

February 23, 2008
Well, I am back off work. My doctor put me off on Wednesday due to my cervix shortening to 2.2cm. I am concerned and scared. I have to lie down at least twice a day to get the baby off my cervix. She is already engaged and her head is sitting on my cervix. (Which is very painful) My contractions are still coming quite frequently but hopefully, with less stress and more rest they will stop.
On a much happier note, my brother and sister in law had their baby yesterday. It is a beautiful baby girl. They named her Audrey June. She has very black, curly hair and both my brother and his wife and their other little girl are very blond. It is a shock to see that beautiful head of black hair on the baby. She is beautiful and weighed 6lbs 11oz. I am quite happy to be an aunt again. It also made me think about my time is coming really soon. (Hopefully, not too soon.)

March 5, 2008

I am at my mom's this week because we are refinishing our floors at home and my son and I cannot be in the dust and fumes. I thought I would have a great little break but I am feeling a little more stressed out and I am starting to contract more. I keep thinking about all I have to do when I get home. My house is totally torn apart and I know that I will have to pester my husband to put it back together. It will be very difficult to put it all back when I am supposed to be on bed rest.
Also, while we are at Nannie's house, my son is acting more spoiled due to Nannie and Grampie giving him everything he wants. This stresses me out as well. I am trying to keep him in line. He seems to be more irritable thanks to the extra sugar and less sleep. Just 4 more day. LOL
On a little lighter note, my mom is throwing me a baby shower while I am here and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. I just hope I don't kill my mom before then. Ha ha Just joking. I do love her and understand that she loves to have her grandson around, I just wish I wasn't so hormonal.
Thanks for listening to this girl rant and rave.

Happy Easter Weekend Everyone. (March 20th, 2008)

Our renovations are still going on. My baby's room is a mess. My husband assured me it would be done by next week, so I am hoping that by next week my doctor allows me off my butt and I can put it together. LOL

This week I have been having a lot of contractions and severe pain in my nether regions but by reading everyone's post is sounds as if this is normal. That is good to hear. I want to keep my little girl inside as long as possible. (Just not until 42 weeks) I would rather go into labour around 39 weeks. That is a good time. If only we could order it just like that. Like everyone else I am not sleeping well, my back hurts, my hips are numb and I can't walk or get into bed due to severe pain in my woohoo. I loooove being pregnant. Next time I think I will have my husband carry it as he is such a know it all in this category. Ha ha

I go to my doctor next Tuesday so we shall see if things are still stable. I just want to be able to help around the house. My nesting instinct is just about in overdrive and I cannot do anything about and to see my house turned upside down has me itching to put it back in order.

Well I hope that this week is treating everyone well and I hope that the Easter Bunny brings lots of chocolate.... I of course will be "enjoying" my Easter Supper/baby shower!!

March 25, 2008

Easter went well. We (I mean my husband) spent most of the time renovating. He painted the baby's room and our living room and hallway. It looks amazing. We then went to his parents for Easter dinner on Sunday. They live about two hours away and I contracted the whole way there. My contractions were five minutes apart and I was beginning to get nervous. Well, I made it through the baby shower/ Easter supper. LOL It was still awkward but everyone seemed to have a good time, especially the men. They had never been to a baby shower before. Ha ha We spent the night at my in laws and thankfully by morning my contractions subsided. I think we did a little too much this weekend. Plus my son got put way off his normal schedule and now we are paying for it. He fell asleep before supper tonight and now I am not sure if I should wake him or let him sleep. If I wake him he will certainly be up all night again. Grrrr

Today, I had a dr.'s appointment. I am 1 cm dialated but I am not concerned. Women can be dialated for months. He said that he doesn't think I will go within the next two weeks so I am happy about that. It is still too early to have this little munchkin, although I am anxious to meet her. The baby's head is sitting very low and that is the reason I am having so much pelvic pain. If it is not one thing it is another. Oh the joys of pregnancy. Why oh why didn't I remember all of this before I got pregnant again. LOL I guess that is the great thing about giving birth, all of this fades into the after glow of holding our child for the first time. Now if only these few weeks will fly by so I can see her beautifu
l face. :)

Thank you so much hun,
I feel really sore and bruised today, but the contractions subsided, as long as I don't walk around too much, then I feel a lot of pressure down below, so rest is imperative. The ob said that my uterus was irritable after the knock to it.
Thank you for the congrats on our baby girl, we are over the moon!

Hi sweetie, it is so lovely to hear from you, I have had a bit of an eventful night last night, I had a really bad fall, and am bruised quite badly. I started having contractions, and I was admitted to hospital and given an emergency scan. I have placenta previa, and they were worried that it was rupturing, thank God, it wasn't, and my baby was fine, and my prayers were answered, I am carrying a little girl!! I just couldn't believe it, until he showed me her little bits.
I am on meds to stop contractions for a few days and I was allowed to go home, they will monitor me carefully, but I may need a caesar, as the baby is transverse, and can't go down into the lower part of my uterus due to the placenta being there, making things very uncomfortable for me, but hopefully things will come right.
Hugs and kisses
Niki

Yes... I've been feeling down lately, it seems like any stupid little thing makes me soooo sad, and I feel so guilty thinking it's affecting the baby, you know, hormones and stuff. But then out of nowhere everything is great and I am happy again. Major mood swings. But I feel sad quite frequently, not always sad, but like I want to be alone, don't feel like talking, kinda really introspective, and reflective, and I feel like talking to my husband about it, then I go... nah. I blame it on the hormones and all this super intense roller coaster of emotions we go through, especially since this is my first pregnancy. I guess I am nervous, anxious, scared, over sensitive, worried, excited, all at the same time. Just hang in there, in a few weeks this will all fade away!

mom3boys2out1in - Friday, 29 Feb
That's a great idea to use some day care time, with my second, i stayed at my mom's for a week, i needed that, hopefully hubby can be a big help when he's not working, ;) are you as excited as i am :)

~*GardenMommy*~ - Friday, 29 Feb
Well just make sure you take good care of yourself too. I know what you mean about taking care of toddler and yourself, I had to do that two weeks ago. I hope your son gets well soon that's all. That's great news that the baby is doing good, just a few more weeks. Keep telling the baby that and hopefully he will listen to mommy and stay in your belly alittle while longer. Hang in there ;-}

mom3boys2out1in - Thursday, 28 Feb

I'm sorry I made you cry. At least I hope it was a happy cry. Believe me, I get that alot too. I meant every word, you show true strenght in your words, and we all need strenght during pregnancy, that's why these sites are so wonderful. The support helps each of us, and you are one of many new people I've met that I truely admire. Thanks for your comment, and I still wish you all the best. ~* I hope you have a wonderful day! ;-} BTW, I wish you luck with your appointment, and I know what you mean about all the snow. Just stay safe, and make sure everything is progressing the way it should. I hope it's good news at the doctor today. Good Luck!

mavy143 - Wednesday, 27 Feb
Awesome... Congrats on your cervix!!!!

mavy143 - Wednesday, 27 Feb
Yes, I know I have never said or written CERVIX so many times in my life!!

Well, I measured a bit longer at 1.9 vs the 1.7 last week..I still have a lot of funneling that the Dr is not pleased with, so i am still on bed rest and still on meds...

How are you feeling?? any more contractions?

mom3boys2out1in - Wednesday, 27 Feb
just dont worry, worry causes stress, stress is bad for baby let me know what the doc says

andreacoleman - Tuesday, 26 Feb
I read your story and I was so touched. That just proves that you always need to trust your instincts. It took my husband and me 3 years to conceive. I was signed up to go and see a fertility doctor in November but after a lot of tears and prayers i found out i was PG in October on my Dad's birthday. I was preparing myself for the grueling fertility test but thankful I didn't have to go through that. It took my parents 10 years with every doctor telling them they would never have children, but instead they had 2. Sometimes patience makes things so much better. I have been paranoid this pg since this is my first and i don't really know what things should feel like. I am pretty sure I feel her moving but other people's descriptions aren't like what I feel. I go back this friday so I am excited to hear her heartbeat again. I have already had my 2 U/S but I would really like another one at 30 weeks. Still undecieded. Thanks for listening.

I am from Moncton and currently live in Calgary. I went to UNB for a year. ya, I am not too sure where St. George is, but I have heard of it before:) Are you done work yet?

dmtheria - Tuesday, 26 Feb
Your story is amazing! I am very happy for you and your husband! I am from NB too! Where are you from?

dmtheria - Tuesday, 26 Feb
Hey! Just a suggestion, you should put up your names without the middle names with them and I bet you will get a better response. I am sure you middle names mean something to you but is hard for a stranger to know that. I think all your names are sweet:) Good luck!

newmommie25 - Tuesday, 26 Feb
i read your blog and i am so happy for you and your husband! that really is a gift from god! hope all stays well with you!
