BIRTH STORY:
Sunday, Feb 10th, I had to be admitted to the hospital (37.4 weeks) because I started swelling everywhere really bad and started being dizzy and it turned out I developed preeclampsia. I stayed there over night while they monitored me and gave me Magnesium Sulfate. By morning time, my blood pressure has not gone down and nothing was changing. I was actually getting worse because then I developed a none stop migrained, which was probobly from the Magnesium Sulfate drip. So my doctor decided to start and induction since I was considered full term and she didn't want me going on with such high blood pressure....

So around 10:15 a.m, I was given a Cervadil to help my FULLY CLOSED and NONE EFFACED cervix open up. I was told that it doesn't always do the job well quick. But by around 2p.m, I was already 2cm dialated. Not only that, but I started having regular contractions 5 minutes apart. I was feeling so horrible, bad head ache, nausea. Not to mention I haven't eaten a thing since Sunday afternoon and was told I couldn't have anything not even water, until after I delivered. Time was going by so slow for me, but according to my husband and doctor, I went from 2cm dialated to 3.5cm dialated in about an hour. Pain, pain, constant pain was taking over my body, and I was shaking uncontrollably from the extremley high blood pressure. I was really scared and nervous because I wasn't expecting to get induced tonight. Around 4 cm dialated, I asked for an EPIDURAL. My contractions were already 3 minutes apart by this time and were way too painful for me to handle along with the head ache and nausea, and I wanted a little rest. It kicked in for about, hmm, 20 minutes until it stopped working completley and I was back in the same crucial pain again.

The anesthisiologist did not understand what happend and why it stopped working, they determined that the catheter fell out or something. So I had to wait for a little bit until another one could be done. So another one was done, and to my surprise and everyone elses, it also DID NOT WORK. This one though, only worked for 5 minutes, unlike the other that worked for 20 minutes. What on earth??!?! I was dying of pain!!! So then they decided to give me STADOL, I didn't know what it really would do, but I was told it would help me sleep and rest for at least an hour. Nope. The pain of the contractions over powered it. So no sleep, no rest for me. I had a really hard time around this time....

So we decided to wait a while after the 2nd epidural and try a 3rd time. That didn't even work for a minute on me. I was so upset and scared of delivering this baby without any pain medication. So they asked if I wanted another shot of STADOL, I said no, number 1, it didn't do anything to me except make me feel high, and number 2, it made the baby high too, so no way.

I was trying to get a hold of my body, and managed to control pain as best as I can, and tried to reassure myself that this is a natural process that the body CAN handle. I can't honestly say that thinking positive like that took the pain away, but it eased my emotions a bit.

Moaning, and groaning, and at times being quiet loud at 7cm dialated, I was so wishing it would fly by faster. It felt like forever. Finally, I was at 9cm dialated and it felt like I had to push, and honestly, I wasn't pushing, just the pain was so bad it was such bad pressure, that my body just felt like it was pushing down anyways. I was already screaming for my doctor. But she wasn't at the hospital yet. So I had to wait for her a half hour holding this baby in. Finally she runs in the room, and my eyes brighten up with happiness. I thought to myself, it will all be over in no time....

Honestly, when the pushing was started, it didn't hurt that bad. The contractions are the worst part of labor and delivery. I felt everything since I had no meds, I then knew myself when to push and when to not push. When to hold my breath, when to let go. I pushed for about a half hour...the only part that started hurting was when the head was almost out.

Nathan Alexander was born at 11:55 a.m Monday morning on February 11, 2008. Weighing in at 6lbs 3.5oz. 19 1/2 inches long!

He wasn't breathing at first which scared me to death because he had mucuous in his throat. But he started breathing and I heard the first cry, my husband was so exstatic he had tears in his eyes, and so did I. I have never seen anything so precious in my entire life.

I didn't tear at all. Which I was so happy about, but I did have a very low platelet count, so I'm slowly recovering. My blood pressure is still a bit elevated, and my swelling is slowly going down.

Nathan is doing really well. Although I didn't get to take him home the day I got discharged due to him developing a slight case of JAUNDICE, I got to take him home the next day on VALENTINES DAY! What could be better than that?

Nope...not mean at all. I asked my hubby to put the bassinet together. I did most of the swing and then he came in to help towards the end. Some of those instructions are meant for the man's mind! LOL

Aren't showers fabulous??!! Have fun putting everything together and getting the nursery set up. For me, besides bringing the baby home to it, that was the BEST part!!

Thats cool I didn't read about the hand held one so i didn't know that you could hook it up to the t.v. so that's pretty neat you've got the best of both worlds!! :) Anyways do you have your baby's room started yet? I've been really busy so all that's in her room is her bed, dresser, and lots of clothes. Gonna wait till i have my last shower before i finish it. Lots of fun, thinking it will give me something to do while I wait for her to arrive in those last weeks that everyone keeps reminding me will seem like forever!! :)

Hello...wow so this must me your lil' miracle bundle of joy...he'll be even more special to you :o) Well as long as they continue to do those test and they show the baby is good then is ok, risth?... Yeah I'm high risk because of my weight only (nothing else that I know of lol) but I just really don't like how they generalize SO MUCH! but whatever as long as the baby is fine then I'm ok too don't care how many tests I get lol yeah I see the doctor every week and they do a NST every week as well... they've all been normal thank God! As far as babyshower... I was just complaining yesterday around noonish that I'm going to have a late babyshower (Feb 23) but because I'm in a long distance relationship, it was my turn to come see him so my boyfriends family and friends surprised me yesterday with a huge babyshower...got SO MUCH STUFF! I'm really happy and appreciative of everything...but I am getting another one Feb 23 from my family and friends... hopefully I'll be all set for the first year LOL Did you have a babyshower yet?

Hi Mizzsnazzy... I was wondering why you were high risk... I'm considered high risk too but because of my weight and the last u/s I got was Dec 28... I wouldn't mind another one LOL

I don't really know if more calcium will help or not, while I am pg I have been taking tylenol (which for me doesn't do much), I have two hand braces that I wear if it gets too bad. I have had it for about 9 yrs so when I am not pg I take ibuprofen cause it's an anti-inflammatory, I'm sure your doc has told you NOT to take it during pg though. Most cases of carpel tunnel that are caused by pregnancy, go away after delivery, mine didn't because I had a 5 month break between my first two, and so it stuck around. If you still have it after the baby is born and it is really really bad then I think there is a procedure they can do to relieve the pain. I hope that yours goes away. How is your pregnancy going? Mine is okay, some days are better than others, I am on restricted activity right now and my hubby says no housecleaning. I'm stubborn but I need this baby to stay in a few more weeks at least. Good Luck.

What is the sex of your baby? Any updated photos of the belly? Any names? Sorry for so many questions but you don't have this info on yourr page already! Congratulations!

Medications that are considered safe in pregnancy are those that have been used extensively in humans and don't appear to cause any major birth defects or other problems (they also have been shown not to cause birth defects in animals). The FDA classifies these drugs as Category B. Treatment with Category B medications is considered 'probably safe.' Category C medications are somewhat more likely to have some complications for mother or fetus, or there isn't enough research to draw conclusions about their safety. These medications come with the warning that they should be used only if the potential benefits outweigh the possible risks. Category D medications are those that clearly have some health risks for the fetus but still may be used under certain circumstances.Category X drugs have been shown to cause birth defects and are not to be used in pregnancy under any circumstances.

Hello! how are you! Thanks for leaving a note on my page! =) We had a great time yesterday.
I just started working on my nursery!!! It really took me long this time. With my boys it was ready by the time I had 4 months into pregnancy! Now time is flying by and I had to get my nursery ready.
I still have to paint it, but I will work on that at the beginning on January.
How are you doing???
Congratulations on your baby boy! Boys are a lot of fun!!! So enjoy!
And have a wonderful X-mas!

Hello and THANK-YOU for stopping by and thinking enough of me and Midnight to leave a message. My pregnancy is going well, right now I am just dealing with the loss of my Midnight. Hopefully I will begin to feel better soon. Thanks again and I hope that the rest of your pregnancy goes well and that you deliver a healthy baby boy.
