January 9, 2008:
I haven't written on here yet so I thought I better and fill in on what's going on in my life. We are a little less then 6 weeks from our due date. We are trying to get ready as best we can but there is still much to do. The nursery is painted but it needs furnished yet. I also haven't had any baby showers yet so we have practically nothing "baby" yet. I am excited to finally have a baby shower and take all the little things home in anticipation of little ones arrival. We don't know the gender and so we have two names picked out for a girl and one for a boy - we'll see what God has in store for us - a girl or a boy!? We have our last birthing class this Thursday. We took the Bradley Method which focuses on natural, drug-free childbirth and husband coaching. We learned a lot of awesome stuff about nutrition, exercise, relaxation (which helps labor progress), etc. and we feel as prepared as we can be. I am a little nervous about the "big day" but then I remind myself that this is how God designed it and many women for many centuries have gone before me - I'm not the first one to give birth for goodness sakes - I can do this!! I finally started to get cravings - only within the last month or so. My downfall - vanilla milkshakes. I figure, "Hey it could be worse. At least I'm getting my calcium this way! ;)" So far I've only gained about 16 lbs. but baby seems to be doing splendidly so I guess all is well. I'm just a little one I guess - everyone keeps remarking on how small I am with comments like, " Well, we can finally see you might be pregnant!" Believe it or not I believe comments like this are just as annoying as someone telling yu that you look like you could pop any day now. I love to tell some of those people, "Mind your own belly!" Anyway, this is how the Lord thought I should be shaped I guess so why should I worry if my belly bump isn't the same as the next girls!
PS: Check out my photos: I finally uploaded my "belly gallery" pictures and a picture of our nursery. Let me know what you think.
January 21, 2008:
Today I had an appointment and got my Group B Strep test done. Hopefully, next week will provide a good sign and I'll pass that without a problem. I am not real thrilled about the idea of being hooked up to an IV during labor. Yesterday, the doctor asked if I had been feeling regular, steady movement. Because I'm almost done with work (last day is Jan. 31) I have been pretty busy at work training a new guy to take my place so I hadn't really felt the same amount of movement yesterday - but I figured probably just because I wasn't paying attention to it. Then when the OB measured me she said I was measuring small so she ordered an ultrasound and fetal monitoring. I was glad to be doing this just to be safe but after spending almost 3 1/2 hrs. in triage at the hospital I wasn't too excited! Everything came back, as the nurses reported "perfect - couldn't get a better score!" This was relieving but I was so hungry by 8:30 - I had not eatten supper yet! Anyway, baby is head down position which is great and is moving actively today! Thank God. I am excited to meet our little one but I certainly would much rather have it come in God's timing and naturally instead of because of complications. We've tried our hardest to be low-risk and healthy so we can hopefully have a natural, drug-free labor. Though I'd just update everyone on how I'm doing.
