Hello!

Thanks for visiting our site. My life-partner (of 8 years) Deona and I are ecstatic about becoming parents in May 2008. We feel especially blessed that we only had to try 3 times to become pregnant (via IUI). We are ever so grateful to have the love and support of both families and a multitude of friends.

A day of "Firsts"

The day started off with Everett needing a diaper. Well, lets just say it was best he have a bath shortly thereafter. He's continued having sponge baths since his belly button stump fell off. Today would be a different day, no more sponge baths. Instead, he got to have real big-boy bath, in a giant inflatable yellow duckie he got from his aunt Dondi AND it has a beak that quacks! Later in the evening, we headed out for our very first swim in our pool. The temperature (air & pool) was perfect. Mama walked Everett into the pool wearing his swimmy diaper and bathing suit Speedo. :) I think we're going to have a swimmer...Little E loved it!

Everett is 6 weeks old today! Our baby boy is growing up so fast!

DEVELOPMENT
Everett is now able to support his own body weight on his little legs (thats with us holding him for balance, of course) and he's using his arms to push up during tummy time. His movements are becoming smoother and less jerky.
This week, Ev has also started copy "coo"ing. :) SO CUTE!
No more newborn outfits, our baby boy is too big now. He's also outgrown his pack-n-play cradle topper.

FEEDING
Currently little E is eating approximately 5-6 oz, every 3-4 hours.

SLEEP
Everett continues to enjoy and sleep in his crib; however bedtime has been pushed to 9:30 or 10:00 p.m. He is completely content lying awake, listening to music for an hour before bedtime. Because hes eating more, he is sleeping longer through the night. Last night, we only had to get up once at 3 a.m. Yeah!!!!

ACTIVITIES
Everett's continues to enjoy being held; in fact, hes getting a little spoiled. :) His favorite activity is being rocked in the glider.
He's not very fond of the toys that hang off his car seat, however he does enjoy his puppy dog activity mat Grammie and Grampy got him for Christmas. Its been fun watching him on his mat; he gets so excited his little arms and legs get to kicking so fast.
He makes us smile.

Bye Bye Umbilical Cord Stump!

Everett lost his umbilical cord stump this morning. It must have fallen off with all the leg kicking he does, because we found it loose inside his onesie when we changed his diaper.

June 10, 2008

Everett is 4 weeks old today!

We're amazed how fast Everett is growing.
In four short weeks, our baby boy has changed so much.

DEVELOPMENT
Everett now has more control of his head and raises it when lying on his stomach.
His eyes are focusing and he recognizes our faces and voices.
Mommy enjoys tapping his nose lightly, as he's now responding with big smiles.

FEEDING
Currently little E is eating approximately 4 oz, every 2-3 hours.

SLEEP
Everett has been sleeping in his crib since week two. Bedtime is around 9:00 p.m., whether he's sleepy or not. He's pretty happy in his crib and falls asleep on his own, provided he has a full belly. :)
He wakes up, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, between 6 or 6:30 a.m.
Both Deona and I take turns getting up to feed, burp and change him, every three hours or so.

ACTIVITIES
He is discovering bright colors and enjoys playing with his toy rattles.
Everett enjoys being sung to, listening to his lullaby CD's, sitting in his swing and Papasan. His favorite activity is cuddle time with mama or mommy.

PHYSICAL GROWTH/APPEARANCE
Our next doctors appointment is July 21st, so we dont know how much he has actually grown. We've considered taking him to the post office to weigh him on the postage scale :). We're fairly certain he has surpassed the 10 pound mark, and we're sure he's at least 22" in length.
He is officially out of newborn diapers, however, he still hasn't lost his umbilical cord stump.
Everett's eyes are still blue and his hair is changing to a lighter shade of red.
Grammie discovered a dimple on the right side of his smile.
Check out 6/13 pics in "Everett"'s album, for

May 27, 2008

Everett is two weeks old today.
His first doctor's appointment was going back to the the hospital for his 2 week heal prick. :( So sad. He cried for 5 seconds or so, but his bottle pacified the situation. Mama and Mommy had a harder time watching.
After a healthy :) lunch at Taco Bell, we set off to his 2 week appt at the pediatrician's.
Since last Tuesday (5/20), Little E has gained 13 ounces!!!
Sweetest baby boy, ever.

May 16, 2008

He's here!!! We'll be posting all the details as soon as we settle in. Everett is perfect and we love him more than anything!

May 12, 2008

IT'S TIME!

We went to the doctor today. Deona's blood pressure had gone up (after a weekend of resting lots), so Doc decided to induce tomorrow! Soooooooooo...we will be heading to the hospital tomorrow morning (Tues. 5/13) sometime between 5-8 am to start the process. This means that Everett will hopefully have arrived by late afternoon or early evening. This is probably the last you will hear from us on the website for several days, but we will try to pass information this week. If all goes well, we should be bringing him home on Thursday. :) Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support.

May 10, 2008

The Dr. appt. on Thursday went really well. Deona's blood pressure was still a little high, but not as bad as last time, but there are still proteins in the urine which is still an early sign of preeclampsia. Our doctor decided to do a sonogram to check all the baby's vitals and fluid surrounding him, etc. Everything looks fantastic (and he's currently estimated to be 7 lbs 11 oz!), so at this point she says we can wait a bit more before inducing. Deona's last day at work was Thursday, so she is now taking it easy and resting lots until he arrives. Our next appointment is Monday morning...unless he chooses to go ahead and come this weekend. :) It's all kindof day by day at this point. We'll update with new news as often as we can.

May 07, 2008

Lots to update, so i will be brief.
At our 38 week visit (Monday, 5/5), Deona's blood pressure read a little on the high side (134/91) and urine test came back positive for protein. Not a good sign, as these are definate signs of preeclampsia.
Doc also drew blood which which would determine whether or not Deona would need to be admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. Tests came back good, so no early hospitalization.
Deona's next doctor's appointment is Thursday @ 3:30.
If all progresses as planned, Everett will be induced this weekend (39 weeks), unless doc says Thursday's the day.
Check back Thursday for the latest updates!

Congrats to you. Wow you are super close. i can't wait until June gets here. I'm so ready. We've had the first of 3 baby showers. Our second is this weekend and then then the 3rd is next Friday. My partner has spent an extremely large amount on clothes and other stuff. It's crazy. I've told her not to buy anything else.
Good luck

How are you two doing? Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. It has been a crazy few weeks. We went into labor 1 week earlier then my scheduled induction and had Ellie Sophia on 4/2. My birth story is posted on my site. She is doing great and is sooooooo cute. We can't stop staring at her. I had a tough time the first week and a half. I went through the baby blues and that was very unexpected. I am doing great now and happy to be getting back to normal. How are you doing? Not much longer!! How exciting!! Hope to hear from you soon

hi
your birth plan sounds great..... from what i've heard, flexibility is essential. If you get your self set on one way, something is bound to happen and you'll be dissapointed. Your idea about doing whatever it takes for it to be a memorable experience is very wise i think.
do you have a plan as to who will be present at Everett's birth? Is it just you two, or parents/family/friends too??
We are just planning for the 2 of us as it needs to be a c-section and they wont let more people in the OR. Even when we were hoping for a natural we only wanted us two. We wanted it to be calm and peaceful and a private thing between the two of us. I can see why people want family and freinds there though. Our family will come when tracie is back from recovery and has seen her babies..... She does not want everyone to see and hold her babies before she does..... and i feel the same.
Our next doctor appointment is on tuesday. We are going every week now (twice last week because of the PUPPPs). We really enjoy the visits, and seeing our babies on the ultrasound. Hopefully she will tell us what day she has been able to book the c-section on.
Good luck with making it to May18th,...... you have not mentioned anything about early labor, so hopefully, so far so good.
Hope all goes well for the sinus surgery

MissZazy - Saturday, 19 April
hi
yeah, we can save cord blood here, but it is not that common and very expensive..... we dont plan to save it..... there are just too many expenses and we are skipping that one.
tracie's belly is very tight and very big. she's finding it hard to get up and move around. she definatly waddles now!! hehe
we are both getting very excited about the birth... only a few weeks to go :)
What are you ladies planning for Everett's birth day??? Natural, medicated, c-section??

MissZazy - Saturday, 19 April
hi,
i see you're online now
how are you?

aubreyd08 - Wednesday, 16 April
Thank you for your comment - I just got back from the doctor. My blood pressure is slightly elivated - but not too bad. No protein in my urine. There's no real explanation as to why I keep seeing spots - he told me to stay off of my feet and we'll keep our eye on it... The baby's head and shoulders are engaged so that explains the hip and pelvic pressure... as well as the baby's slowing of movement. Doc says she can only move her legs now so it's normal to not feel her move much. We officially scheduled induction for May 13th with the hospital. I go in at 5PM on May 12th to be admitted... Not much longer now!

MissZazy - Tuesday, 15 April
Hi,
nice to hear from you..... I like the new pics. mama is beautiful.
You are good sorting out all that legal stuff already. We were told by a lawyer that in australia you can't do any of that legal stuff until the child in question actually exists (must be born). Well, we could do wills and things, but then we'd only have to update them when the kids are born to include them, so there isn't much point doing it yet. We have to wait.... and then once we lodge the paperwork we have to wait again for a court date. The lawyer says it takes about 6-9months. Terrible isn't it. I hope nothing happens in that time.

Sal has organised 5-6 weeks of annual leave that she will take once the babies are born. It is set for 3 weeks away..... so we're hoping that they dont come early!!!

We dont have the exact date for the c-section yet, but it will be when tracie is 37weeks (3 weeks away). It would be amazing if our boys were born in the same week. We will find out the exact date in a few days.

Hope all continues to go well

Sal and Tracie

Yay, family! I get excited too. I wish there was more family around here having babies... but alas, we're about it. Congratulations on your baby boy... and you two are adorable.

us-n-kenzie - Sunday, 13 April
I dont think anyone is ever actually ready for the baby to be born and to come home. I know when I was on the way home with my older daughter, I kept going over everything in my head to make sure I had done everything, even though I had made and checked off SO MANY lists to make sure. When we got home, I found that I had somehow completely forgotten about putting together the swing, had no batteries for the bouncy chair and never washed any of the bottles. I felt like I had failed and we had only had our daughter home for 5 minutes. This time I think I went overboard with getting everything together too early. I am almost 29 weeks and it is all nearly completed. Though I still have not washed the bottles..lol. I also decided that NOW would be the best time to get that puppy I had been wanting for the last year. Yes, now at the beginning of the third trimester I am housetraining an 11 week old GSD puppy. People think I am insane. I think I am insane...if not yet, I will be soon. She is adorable, and I keep telling myself that the 3 trips I take her on outside during the night are only preparing myself for when the baby comes. I am only hoping she will be housebroken by the end of June. Doog luck to you all!!

misszazy - Sunday, 13 April
Hi there,
how are you ladies. Sounds like all is well from your last update.
I can't believe Deona's only gained 7lbs, what an amazing effort..... that means she's lost weight with the extra weight of the baby, placenta, fluid and uterus. How did you manage that?
Monica, do you still think Everett is going to make an early entry into the world? Do you have a predicted birthday?
I can't believe Deona's got 4 more weeks of work left? Did I read that right? I hope her job allows her to take it easy or he will definatly make an early entry!!!
How exciting that you guys have just over a month to go.
We have about 3.5weeks to go. They will do a C-section by 38weeks if Tracie hasn't delivered by then. There is not enough room for twins after that point and it is more beneficial for them to be on the outside. We are both very excited about the day our boys are born. Tracie is extremly uncomfortable a lot of the time, but says she is still enjoying being pregnant. The boys wriggle lots. Is little Everett an up and coming soccer star with lots of kicking?1!?!?!
Hope everything else is going well.
Best of luck for the next month. Kepp updating and keep in touch

Sal & Tracie
