He Came 7 Weeks Early

Gage Michael Is Here!!!!

Birth Story Is Below-Check Out My Photos

May 15th

~ First off let me start by saying Congrats to all the expectant Mothers!!!! Here's a little about me- My name is Laura and I have been with Dean for 5 years he proposed to me in December and we have been busy planning our May 26th wedding. I will be 30 this summer and we knew that we wanted to have a baby right away. I have been on the pill for 8 years and had read that it takes a while to get pregnant, so we decided I would go off the pill in January. On February 22nd I found out I was pregnant. We were shocked that it happened so fast and excited that we were going to have a little bambino!!!! This experience is new to both of us and so far my pregnancy has been pretty easy. I'll be honest the first trimester sucked because I didn't feel like doing anything and I could barely keep my eyes open, because I was tired all the time but luckily no throwing up, so I can't complain too much. We are excited to find out if we will be buying PINK or BLUE clothes. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

May 16th

~ I still have yet to feel any movement and I'll admit it's a little frustrating, it seems like every pregnant woman I run into has been feeling her baby move since 13 weeks. Last night I layed real still and tried to concentrate and I even said out loud to the baby that now would be a good time to show me that you are okay and after 30 minutes-absolutely nothing!!! Hopefully something will happen soon enough. I go back to the Doctors on Monday and am anxious to hear the heart beat again, that always puts my mind at ease. I have been busy putting the finishing touches on our wedding (May 26th). I can't wait to go on our honeymoon, we've got a great house on the beach for a week. I'm looking forward to some much needed rest and relaxation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 21st

~ I went to the Doctors today and everything went fine. We got to hear the heartbeat (150) and the baby moved and made this loud noise on the Doppler and the Doc said that she thinks it's a boy, because he's always so active. They also canceled my 20 week Ultrasound, they want to send me to a specialist at the Hospital to check on things. I have a Uterine Fibroid on my Uterus and it has increased in size since I got pregnant, it is pretty big, but luckily nowhere near the Placenta, but just as a precaution they want me to go there. I'm just patiently waiting for them to call me and let me know when they can get me in. I can't wait to find out what this little bambino is. I also had blood work done today to check for Down Syndrome and am awaiting those results as well. The Doctor also said not to worry about not feeling any movement and that most women don't feel anything until the 20th week. I feel alot better and am just playing the waiting game. At least I have all the last minute details of the Wedding to keep me busy!!!

June 4th

~ Well, I'm back from my honeymoon and it was perfect. The weather could not have been better and I have a pretty nice tan. The wedding was beautiful and stress free for the most part. I'm feeling pretty good!!! Still not feeling any movement, but hopefully that will come soon. I'm hoping to post some pics from the wedding/honeymoon soon!

Our Wedding Pics!!!! May 26, 2007~ It was a beautiful day

June 13th

~ Okay, so last week i'm sitting at work reading an e-mail when I felt this weird poke, I didn't think much of it and then it happened again and I just knew that it was the Bambino. I wanted to make sure so I called my Mom and she said that's it and we both started crying. I called my husband at work and he announced it to every one. Now he's constantly coming up touching my belly in hopes of feeling something. I had been so worried about not feeling any movement and it happened. It made it seem more real. It was the coolest feeling ever!!! We find out what the sex is on June 25th and I can hardly stand the wait. I'll be 22 weeks then and I can't believe how fast time flies. I go back to my Doc on June 18th and I'll give an update then.

June 18th

~ I went to the Doctor's today for my regular visit and this was the first time they measured me. I'm measuring 25 weeks as opposed to what I am which is 21 weeks. She said that the reason my uterus is so big is because of the Uterine Fibroid. She also told me today that it looks like I will be having a C-Section and that they will probably schedule it 10 days before my due date. I was a little disappointed but I know that it's the best thing for me and my Bambino. We got to hear the heartbeat and it was 140 today, and like always you could hear the baby kicking on the Doppler. Dean asked the Doc if they sounded like boy or girl kicks and she said she's guessing a boy. We can't wait to find out next Monday. I hope this week goes by fast.

June 25th

~ It's a Healthy BOY!!!!!!! (1 Pound 2 Ounces) The heart beat was 133. We are over the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out the 4-D pics they are amazing!!! He has Mama's lips for sure!!!!!

July 9th

~ Well, I had an eventful weekend! Thursday night I wasn't feeling too good and thought maybe I was getting a bladder infection and my left side was hurting me pretty bad as well. I called my Dr. Friday morning and they told me to come in right away. Sure enough I had a bladder infection that was causing my uterus to contract and with me having a huge Fibroid on my Uterus they were worried about me going into pre-term labor. They put me on meds and strict bed rest for 48 hours. I'm happy to report that baby and me are doing good and I am back at work today and feeling a trillion times better. At least with bed rest I was able to catch up on some missed tv and read all the good Hollywood gossip mags.

July 16th

~I just got back from the Dr.s and today I met with the BIG Doc and he said that with the size of my Uterine Fibroid that he wants me to take it easy and that this is a critical point in my pregnancy and that I don't want to go into pre-term labor. He said that it was a miracle that I even got pregnant. I am so blessed and will definitely follow his orders, i just want my little boy to be okay.

August 15th

~I went to the Dr.'s yesterday and am measuring at 29 weeks right on target! The Dr. is anxious to see the results of my next Ultrasound on 8/20 to see if my Fibroid "FIREBALL" has gotten any bigger. I hope that it hasn't. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous about some of the things he told me could happen if I have to have a C-Section. I just pray that my little boy has enough room to move down on his own and I can push him out! I'm going to stay positive and just take each day as it comes and see what happens. I have a strong feeling that everything is going to be okay!

August 20th

~Just got back from my Ultrasound appointment and the good news is that my "FIREBALL" hasn't gotten any bigger this time. The baby weighs 3 pounds 2 ounces!!! I can't wait to hold him!!! 30 Weeks-WOW it's hard to believe that in 10 weeks I'll be a Mama!!!

August 27th

~I had my Baby Shower yesterday and it was amazing! Pics are posted in the photo section. I got everything I resistered for. I have no idea where we're going to fit everything. Everyone had a great time! I hope my little boy realizes how lucky he is to have such a loving and thoughtful support system.

August 30th

~Late Tuesday night I started having contractions every 10 minutes and my husband took me to the hospital. They thought I was dehydrated and gave me an IV. It looks like my Fibroid/"FIREBALL" caused the contractions. The Dr. checked me (which was not pleasant-at all) and I was not dilated. After an hour they were 5-7 minutes apart and they gave me a shot in the arm to stop them. They stopped and I was finally able to go home early Wednesday morning. Now I can't do anything again and it SUCKS!!! I have to cut back my hours at work and when not at work be in bed. The Dr. said if I can just make it to 36 weeks then we'll be out of the woods. I'm just glad that my Baby Boy is okay!!!!

October 13th

Well I know it has been some time since I've updated, but I have had an eventful last month. On September 13th I lost my mucus plug and went to my Dr. and he sent me to the Hospital to be monitored. I was having contractions and they stopped them and kept me overnight. The next day they said that they did a blood test and that it showed that I would not go into labor for at least another week. I was not dilated, but just kept having contractions off and on. I was sitting in the bed and had a couple contractions when all of a sudden my Husband took off running out of the room and came back with the nurse he pointed to the monitor and said does that look normal as he pointed to the Baby's heart rate which had dropped down to 50 beats. The next thing I know she jumped on my bed threw the Oxygen mask on me and started hollering over the intercom for help and to page my Dr. About 12 people came running into the room and the alarm was going off and lights were flashing. They were flipping me from one side to the other and I saw blood on the table. I was screaming and crying, I was so scared and I thought I was losing him and couldn't believe what was happening. My Husband was holding my face telling me everything was going to be okay. My Dr. came in and said lets get this baby out now. I kept saying it's too early, but my Dr. said it's time to move. I remember looking at the clock and it was 12:30 and they wheeled me into the Operating Room and Gage Michael Hawkins was born at 12:47. He weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces and 19 inches long. I was so happy to hear that he weighed so much but unfortunately he stopped breathing and was put on a Ventilator in the NICU. I didn't get to hold my Son until the third day of his life and it was the hardest thing that I have ever had to face. Words cannot describe what my Husband and I went through those first few days. It was gut wrenching to see my little boy hooked up to so many machines, catheters, and IVs. He has had to endure so much in his few short weeks here. He is officially my new hero! We had so many family and friends coming up and praying for our family. It was amazing to see so many people rallying around us and rooting for Gage. Because of my Fibroid (which has caused extreme pain and complications) I had to stay in the Hospital for 2 weeks and Gage a week longer after I came home. I'm happy to report that my little boy is doing great and we are both happy recovering at home. I will post some pics soon. I hope that everyone is doing well with their pregnancies and all of you have safe deliveries. Thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers and I will update as soon as I can.

November 20th

~Took Gage in yesterday for his 2 month shots. I am so happy to report that he now weighs 9 lbs 3 oz and is 21 and a 1/2 inches long. The Dr. was very pleased with how he's progressing. When he got his shots he barely even cried and Mommy and Daddy were so proud of him. I'm also back at work and am missing my little guy ALOT!!!!

January 15th

~Gage went for his 4 month shots yesterday! He weighs 12 lbs 5 oz and is 25 inches long. The Dr. said that Gage is very alert and is holding his head great and is doing things that most 4 month old babies do and really he would only be 2 months old so she was very pleased. She could tell that Daddy and I are constantly talking to him and she said that makes a huge difference. She gave us the go ahead to start giving him a little cereal and some fruits and veggies from the jar. My little guy is getting to be a BIG BOY and we couldn't be more proud of him!!!!!!

Aww, poor Gage, I hope he feels better soon! Ryan is sleeping much better! Within the last week, he is only getting up once, usually at 2 or 3, and then his normal time of 8:30. I can handle that!! He is turning like a champ now!!! We got him a walker from Babies R Us, and he loves it!! I put him in the kitchen and he moves around alittle. He is starting to talk alot!!!! and say alot more syllables...it so cute! He is drooling like crazy, that I have to put a bib on him or his shirt gets soaked, maybe I'll see a tooth soon....Let me know what happens with Gage! Take care.

Thanks for your comment re: slkeeping babies. I have seen that FP aquarium so now I will for sure get it! Thank you. I love your pictures and that pic of all the babies born into your families in the last 5 months is so adorable. It reminds me of an Anne Geddes shot!

Thanks! Love your pics, too! You have a beautiful family. Take care!

Yes, she is really a blessing. In regards to the weight loss I am glad to say that I am down 10 lbs... HURRAY!! I know it is all because of the fast; I didn't respond your question about the fast it is basically- Water only, no fast foods or fried foods, no beef or pork, no breads and no sweets. I will write more tomorrow at work. -Rosie

Ok, so I am back at work. Friday was really good, everyone was very glad to see me and someone even gave me another gift for Damiani. My mother in law is awesome with the baby and with helping out around the house. She has been washing clothes and dishes, cooking etc... Thank God we have always gotten along; I will truly miss her once she leaves. Not sure if I told you but I am very happy to hear that Gage got such a good report at his dr's last visit. Gotta run, talk to you soon.

I saw your comment on my son's picture and decided to check out your page. OMG! YOU HAD SUCH A SIMILAR BIRTH EXPERIENCE! I to had the emergency C, I also didn't hold my son til day 3, he was on a beathing machine and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT... We were going to name our son GAGE!!!! We have had the name picked out since the early 90s but changed at the last minute. Our son was in the NICU for 18 days. He was born 3 pounds 5 ounces. Congratulations! Jen

Hey! Thanks for the comment. I'm definately going to my moms for the first week and I think I'm staying the whole 6 weeks. My ex has the option to come over to her house and see Brylie any time he wants, and if he does well with that then I'll think about going back tp the apartment. If it dpesn't work I'll stay home for good. *sigh*

you baby is beautiful! what hospital did you have him at?

Laura,
I have the best of both worlds!!! I work from home part-time and if or when I need to go into the office Hubby watches Ryan. My Hubby is self employed so he makes his own schedule. I love being home with him. If we want to snuggle all day we can...hehe!! I think I'm gonna buy an exersaucer now!! I don't have one, out of all the toys he has!!! That will complete his list...hehe!!!

Blessed2BPrego - Thursday, 17 Jan
Hi all is well; I start back tomorrow & my computer should be set up and I will update you then. But all is good so far, kinda nervous to go back to work isn't that crazy!! Talk to you soon. ;) Gotta run and finish my still to do list before I go back tomorrow.

babybugs - Thursday, 17 Jan
The travel system I bought has extended length and weight carseat!!! Up to 35 pounds...so he fits in his carseat nicely. You may need to buy a new carseat...one of those convertible ones. like the Britex, not really sure. I have the jumperoo too, I put Ryan in it the other day, of course I was supporting him in the seat, but I can already tell when he is ready he is going to love it... I too need to get an exersaucer!!! Since he can hold his head pretty good, I'd feel confident that he would be ok in it.

babybugs - Thursday, 17 Jan
Ryan is wearing size 1 diapers, he has a small waist...and size 0-3 clothing although some of the pants are too short cause he is so tall. Have you used the bumbo chair yet??? I put Ryan in it the other day and held the back of his head just in cause, he loved that he was sitting on his own!!!

Braden is doing great. He's going for his shots tomorrow. They're a little late b/c he's been on steriods the past 2 weeks. He's had bronchitis and whooping cough, so dr. wanted to wait. Last Wednesday he was 13lbs6oz and 25 in. He's growing so fast. It's sad to see my baby growing up. I seriously think I'll have one more b/c I know once Braden starts school I will be sad that all my babies have grown up! :( I'm glad to hear that Gage is doing great! My other two were preemies and by the looks of them now you'd never know it! :)

babybugs - Wednesday, 16 Jan
Gage is doing great, he is long just like my little Ryan...Ryan was 24 inches at his 2 month check up!!! I am guessing he weighs about 12 to 13 pounds...he has been putting on some weight!! He is sleeping through the night!!! Yah for him, we put him to sleep around 9:30, he wakes up for a quick feeding at 3am and back to bed until 8:30am!!! I need to update his picture, so check back soon!!! What size clothing is Gage wearing? What size diapers is he wearing? Take care.

TexasTammy - Tuesday, 15 Jan
Hey good to hear from you. It's great to hear that Gage is growing so much! Wow that's great. Jack doesn't go back until around Feb. 16th - 2month check up. I can't wait to see what he weighs, but not looking forward to the shots. Hubby and I are getting ready to go on a trip to Atlanta leaving Sunday coming back on Tuesday. I haven't left Jack yet and I'm a little nervous. Brian's work is having their annual kick off meeting and spouses are invited to attend at their expense. They are paying for a spa day on Monday and I get a 90 minute massage. I'm so looking forward to that! I just couldn't turn down the trip! I've been pumping like crazy for the last month trying to get enough milk for the grandparents while we're gone. I actually think I'm going to have enough. I've been supplementing with a little formula - usually 1 bottle a day and it's working fine. I got my hair cut today. I'm feeling kinda sexy and I can't wait to have a glass of wine in Atlanta!

mavy143 - Tuesday, 15 Jan
Thank you so much for your comment. It has been tough being on bed rest...but worth any inconveince and all the aches and pains. I love this lil one so much...I can't wait to meet her...yet I will wait as long as I need to, to make sure she is ready.
Thank you for your prayers for my friend. Her baby is a little fighter!!

Congrats on your little boy!! He is beautiful!!

Blessed2BPrego - Thursday, 10 Jan
Hi there sorry for the delayed response. I've been trying to do last minute things before my mother in law gets in tomorrow. All is going well; I've been sticking to my plan & I believe I am seeing a difference. I don't have a scale in the house for over 2 years now, but I can still notice the change with my clothes etc. I have only been drinking water since the 2nd it is part of our church fast for this month. It helps to put a slice or two of lemon in my water and it has to be at room temperature for it to go down. I find it easy to drink an entire bottle first thing in the morning. Have you been able to do your walks yet? Truthfully I haven't made the effort and I noticed last Sunday when we had to park far from the church, I was huffing and puffing pushing the stroller, mind you Damiani is at 13 lbs. 7 ozs. I can barely lift him up in his carseat any longer. :( They really grow fast! How is Gage doing? Damiani just got 4 shots on Tuesday but has been awesome, no crying since we left the drs' office. Hope you have a wonderful day, I am going back to bed now, I have to enjoy only one week left before I head back to WORK!!! ;) -Rosie

Bek 30 - Thursday, 10 Jan
Hi Laura, how did ure little one like his jolly jumper? a bet his liking it. I know Katelyn enjoys it more everyday, especially when she figures out she can all these different things. I usually set my'n up in front of the tv, and I either have cartoons or video hits on, and when she gets all excited she really gets moving in it. Somedays I also put it out on the verandah and let her go to town in it. It really keeps them entertained for a while. I also put Katelyn in her walker, but I make sure her feet don't touch the ground... she loves it when she can hit all the different buttons on her own...it's just to cute...lol.

miniJK - Tuesday, 8 Jan
Thanks! Your baby is absolutely adorable and I love his name! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Take Care!
