My pregnancy was doing really good but on December 20th (I was 20 weeks) I started to spot a very little bit. It was just a little tinge of blood when I wiped but hardly anything. Well, it only happened maybe once or twice a day and one day there was not a trace of blood at all. Since it was Christmas time and it was busy I just thought it would go away. I had been on my feet a lot and doing a lot of shopping and things to get ready for Christmas. On the day after Christmas, December 26th, it still had not changed at all. So I called the hospital because my ob/gyn was not in the office. They told me that it was normal but if I didn't want to wait until the next day to talk to my ob/gyn to come in and they would check me. I said I was ok that I would wait but about an hour later I started to bleed. It still wasn't a lot of blood but it was much more then just spotting. So I went to the hospital and by the time I got there I was bleeding a lot. They did an ultrasound and checked me. They said my cervix was starting to open and the baby was funneling down toward my cervix. So they kept me in the hospital and said I could only get up to go to the bathroom.
The next day, December 27th, the bleeding had slowed down a lot and my ob/gyn said that I had an incompetent cervix and he wanted to do a cerclage but would have to wait until the bleeding stopped. So, I was still on bed rest in the hospital.
December 28th, I got up and was getting ready to get into the shower. I blew my nose and had the wierdest feeling (down there) I have ever felt. I felt down there and it was the amniotic sac coming out. I could actually feel it with my hands. It freaked me out. So I called the nurse and got back in bed. It went back up but I could tell it was still down way to low. My ob/gyn came in to examine me and said that I was dilated to 4cm and that he could feel the babys foot. I was only 21 weeks at this time and he said if the baby was born now she would die because they won't even try to save them until 24 weeks. So he said he would do an emergency cerclage but there was only a 50 percent chance the baby would make it through the surgery and if she did only 20 percent chance she would make it to 24 weeks. I told him to do what ever he could. I later found out that the ob/gyn didn't really think I would make it the week but did what he could because I asked him to.
The surgery went well, but because of the trauma to my cervix it put me into labor. I was having very strong and close together contractions. They were awful. The nurse gave me a shot in the arm to try to get them to stop. That didn't work. So she gave me another shot. That didn't work. Then I was given a pain med in my IV. That didn't do anything for the pain and I have a very high tolerance for pain. So I was started on Magnesium Sulfate. That finally eased them up. They kept getting a little easier and easier as the day went on.
By the next day, December 29th, I was only having maybe two or three contractions an hour. So at ten am they took me off the Mag. They gave me another ultrasound and said that I was no longer funneling as much and the cervix was starting to get longer. I am feeling a little better and finally got my shower I was getting ready to take on FridayJ.
Sunday, December 30th, I was only having contractions every few hours now. I am still bleeding a bit but the doc said that was normal. So, I got to go home on bed rest. By Wednesday, January 2nd, my bleeding had stopped and I had not had any contractions since the day I came home.
I went back to my ob/gyn on January 4th. I had an ultrasound and he said that everything looked great and he was very happy with how well everything was going. He wanted me to go to OSU medical center to have a high risk specialist look at me.
January 10th, I am now 23 weeks, I went to OSU and they did an ultrasound and said that everything looked great. They said my ob/gyn did a heroic cerclage. That the cervix was even longer, I think they said it measured 2.7 now but was also funneled to the stitch. When they did the ultrasound on the baby they were concerned because there was not very much amniotic fluid around the baby. I only measured 4 and they said I should have 15. So they put me in OSU hospital this time. They gave me a shot that night and then one the next day of steroids to help the babys lungs develop incase she had to be born soon. They still don't know what happened to the fluid. I had not leaked or anything. I was still not bleeding or cramping or anything. So on January 12th, they did another ultrasound and the fluid stayed the same. It was still at 4. I wanted to go home so bad. I was an hour away from Columbus so they really didn't want me to but I was miserable there. So I went home and they wanted me to come back that Tuesday for another ultrasound.
We went back Tuesday, January 14th to check the level and Praise the Lord it went up a little bit so now it is at 6. So we are going in the right directions. We go back Wednesday, January 23rd for another check. So please pray that the fluid level is back to normal or at least going the right way.
So that is my story so far. I have a lot of faith it is going to be ok. I have a lot of people praying and this little girl is a fighter. So I will keep this up dated and if you are in a similar situation or have been I would love to hear from you.

Back to the doc today for another ultrasound. They said the fluid level was back to normal!!! Yippie!!! PTL!!! It was at 13. They also checked my cerclage and said that there was no change since the last time they checked it on Jan. 10th. Which they said was good. So great news today!!!!! I don't have to go back now till Feb. 13th and they will do a growth check on the baby and do a Biophysical Profile.

Went to my regular ob/gyn today and they are very happy with how everything is going. He called her my miracle baby because he said he didn't really want to do the cerclage and only did it because I asked him to and he really didn't think the baby was going to make it the first week but the power of prayer is an awesome thing! Cause here I am week 27!!

Had a Biophysical Profile done today. Everything looked great. The baby was doing very good. She now weighs 2 pounds and 10 ounces. After they were done checking everything on the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech let me have a quick 3D ultrasound. Needless to say little Kaylee was not co-operating. She had her foot and hands all in her face. We did finally get a picture where you could see one eye, her nose and her mouth. You can see her little piggies up by her face. It is so cute! Then they checked my cerclage and said my cervix is still short but that it keeps just hanging out there and nothing is changing. So that is really good too. I am still on bed rest but if that's what it takes that's ok with me. When the peri came in she said that everything was going great and that I would not need to come back to see her and was releasing me back to my ob/gyn!!! It was a great doc visit and it was so cute to see Kaylee in 3D and to know she is growing and doing so good. Never give up and never stop praying!! God is an Awesome!!

March 10, 2008 - 32 weeks
Had another ultrasound done today. Baby was doing good. She weighs 4 pounds 4 ounces now. She's head down and the fluid level is still normal. The doctor checked my cervix and said that it was still closed and the stitch was holding good. He did say I had protein in my urine so I have to collect my urine for 24 hours (how fun is that) and take it to the hospital. When I take it in they will also draw blood. He said it was probably nothing because my blood pressure is still normal. He just wanted to be on the safe side.
March 17, 2008 - 33 weeks
Went back to the doc today. He said that my blood work and my urine came back normal and that nothing is wrong. He said I did not have protein in my urine. The baby's heartbeat was very good. Now I don't have to go back until April 11th when I should get my stitch taken out.
