BABY Journals

08/06/08

So I started out on this website at about 16 weeks pregnant, worrying about every little thing my body was going through and if the baby would be okay because I lost two pregnancies early on last year and was scared to death of feeling that pain again. Before I knew it I hit that 40th week and suddenly there I was in labor for the 3rd time in my life and so incredibly excited to meet my little boy. On July 30th I finally got to hold this little person in my arms who I had worried about and cared for nine whole months prior to this day.I held him close to me, stroked his hair and looked at his perfect little face and I knew I was meant to be a mommy again. And so begins another one of lifes journeys, raising baby boy number three, my son Cameron.....

08/29/08

I can't beleive it, Cameron is going to be a month old tomorrow, where has the time gone? I remember thinking back after having my other kids how fast the time went. It seemed like they were born and I blinked and suddenly they were walking and talking and having birthday after birthday. Knowing that, I have been trying to take everything in with him every chance I get. Even though I am dog tired getting up all night with him, at the same time I am enjoying it as crazy as it sounds. The sound of his little cry, the sweet smell of his hair and skin, holding him close while he listens to my heartbeat, I just want to remember every bit of it so I don't feel like I missed anything. My husband and I said this would be our last one but now I'm not so sure and even he is again asking me if I'm sure we won't try again later on for our little girl. I ended up changing my mind about getting my tubes tied, I'm going back on the pill so that way nothing is set in stone. I wouldn't want any regrets a few years from now. ;)

09/05/08

So my oldest two kids started school a couple days ago and now I've had all this one on one time with my new little bundle of joy and I'm really enjoying all this special "getting to know him" time. I'm getting his crying down now, like which cry means I'm hungry and which one means I'm overtired, etc. He is such a little snuggler, I put him over my shoulder to burp him and he just wraps an arm around me and nestles his little head right up against mine , soooo cute! And oh my goodness I cannot stop taking pictures, it's like I want to capture every single minute of his little life so I don't miss anything. Yep, I do beleive I'm in love lol...:)

10/12/08

Oh boy, Cameron has been battling thrush for almost 3 weeks now and it is getting so frustrating. He tried Nystatin, two full treatments of it for two weeks, and it just came right back. Then they gave him some other liquid stuff to take for 10 days and guess what? Yep it's still there. Ugghhhh what to do what to do. We've been boiling his nipples in between feedings, we've been taking a q-tip and applying the meds directly to his tongue, and nothing works! I'm going to have to call the doctor back this week and tell him that once again this thrush problem persists. I know he mentioned one other thing we could try that dyes their tongue like a purple or bluish color? I'm desperate at this point I just don't know what to do.

10/14/08

So the doctor mentioned the last time we were in that Cameron has a mis-shapen head. I can't beleive I never even noticed it until he pointed it out to me, what kind of mother doesn't notice her baby's head is shaped wrong? I feel awful! I'm so worried because if it doesn't correct soon he will have to wear a helmet. I went looking up some info online and apparently if a baby's head is too mis-shapen they have to do surgery to correct it. I can't even imagine my little boy having to have surgery, I'm just praying that this problem will go away soon and that it won't come to that.

PREGNANCY Journals

Hi everyone, I'm 28 years old, married, and currently have two boys ages 5 & 8. My husband and I ended up having two "blighted ovums" last year, causing me to lose the pregnancies at 7 & 9 weeks along which was tough but we got through it. Needless to say I was given another chance and am now doing just great with this pregnancy. Even though we both really wanted a little girl, we found out at our ultrasound that we are again having a little boy. I have to admit I felt a little disappointed being that this was going to be our last baby, but I love my little peanut regardless. The tech said he looked very healthy and everything looked normal so I am grateful for that. The baby has also started to move quite often now, or should I say kick me quite often lol. This is my favorite part of the pregnancy because it makes it seem real. I am excited to start shopping for baby things and I am currently trying to come up with a name. Best of luck to all the moms out there, I look forward to getting to know you and sharing our pregnancy experiences! :)

Feb 29th

Wow I'm so excited, tomorrow I will be 19 weeks and it seems like it has gone pretty fast so far. I am finally over my worrying and am actually starting to enjoy this pregnancy now. The baby is moving a lot now and I can usually feel it at least 3 or 4 times a day so that is really reassuring! The only physical complaint I have right now is the hip pain I've been experiencing over the last week or so, wow it wakes me up right out of my sleep OUCH! I am going to talk to my doctor about it at the next appointment but that isn't for another couple of weeks so in the meantime I will be seeing what magic I can do with an extra pillow. Other than that we are stuck trying to decide on a name. All the ones I like my husband doesn't like and vice versa. The only two we can agree on is Kayden or Aiden, I so want this baby to have a name so I can stop calling him "the baby". :(

APRIL 21st

I've been having the hardest time deciding on a name. I've changed my mind 3 times now and I'm finally down to just two options but I cannot seem to decide! It never took me this long with the other two, I think I've just had to name too many boys now lol. On another note I've really started getting things in order, I've already got both car seats, the bathtub, enough clothes to last at least 2 months, blankets, bottles & some hygene stuff. Now I just need to get some diapers/wipes and the crib but I'm not going to get that until the very end because he won't be sleeping in it until he's about 2 months old. It's been 5 years since my youngest was a baby, I almost forgot how many things there are to buy for such a little peanut but I love every minute of it and can't wait for him to get here!!!!

May 2nd

April is FINALLY over, I am so glad to be entering another new month because that's one more month that gets me closer to July!!! I swear the first 3 months of pregnancy go by so fast but the last 3 months take forever to get through! Anyway things are going pretty good for me, I'm happy to officially be in my 3rd trimester now (28 weeks wohoo!) This little boy sure made me nervous the last few days though, he went from being very active to very lazy. I know he's just fine because I still feel him moving, it's just not as often and not as fierce. As for me I have officially hit that stage where I am in so much pain all the time. I'm still working full time and when I get home my feet are so sore and SWOLLEN. My back burns from standing up all day, uhhhh, it's just getting to the point where I'm sore all the time and all I want to do is complain lol. On a good note I can say I'm very excited, just 4 more days and then I get to have my 3D ultrasound done. I'm really excited about this because I've never had one of these done before, I've always just had the 2D style. I also go in to have my glucose testing done that day and I get the rhogam shot (not looking forward to that part :( but all in all it should be an eventful appointment. So I suppose I will post more after I get all my results back and my pictures taken! :)

May 21st

Well I haven't written for a while so here's the update... I am officially uncomfortable for the majority of the days now. My back is killing me, just burning like crazy and no matter what I do I can't get it to stop. I also feel like a whale, just like I doubled in size overnight lol. My feet aren't giving me too many problems yet but sometimes my ankles just throb, I don't know if this is because I have sprained my ankles so many times before but it is not fun. Other than that, I get these achy cramps in my lower stomach, usually on the bottom right but sometimes also on the bottom left. If I try to get up suddenly or too fast it tightens up and it hurts so bad that I can't even move-OUCH! On another note my husband and I are still going through this headache of trying to agree on a name. We finally decided that we would put up all the names we talked about on a poll and whatever name was ranked at the top come June 1st is the name that we're going with. I so hope it's one of my top two picks!!!!!!

June 24th

Wow I haven't written for quite a while so I figured I was overdue for a new post. Let's see, I'm now 35 weeks along and feeling every bit of it! My ankles are a total mess, so swollen and literally painful to the touch, (it even hurts to put on my socks!). My legs are loaded with spider veins, I'm pretty sure I will never wear shorts in public again, it is so bad I can't beleive it! Hmmmm....what else can I mention? Oh I've gained 40 pounds already and still have 5 weeks to go (ooops!!!) My doctor said my swelling could be a lot of it though because it's a lot of retained fluid so we'll just go with that hehe ;). I've been having a lot of Braxton Hicks when I'm walking, I don't remember having this with my other two. Matter of fact I don't think I ever had any Braxton Hicks with my other two at all. My next appt is on July 1st and I am going to have my strep test and my doctor is going to check my cervix too so I can't wait to find out what's going on in there, I have so much cramping and pressure! Other than that I am still working full time, my last day will be July 18th (my youngest son's birthday!) Otherwise we have everything we need, we're just waiting on baby now. :) Oh and on another note tomorrow is my birthday, another pregnant birthday experience lol...

How`s my pregnancy doing?

I realized the same thing in my son recently and asked my Dr at his 2 month appt and she said to do everything mellowyellow just said. If was hard the first coupld of days since he does not like to look to the left... but he is getting used to it and will actually turn that way on his own now... it just takes some insistance and my Dr assured me its an easy fix. =)

Hi Mommy. My first born had a misshapen head which was identified at around 8 weeks. He had a problem turning his head to one side due to a tight muscle in his neck.
We went to physiotherapy and had some exercises to do to help stretch that tight muscle.
THISLL BE A LONG MESSAGE CUZ ILL TYPE OUT THE INFO I GOT!

> When he is asleep turn his head to his non preferred side
>when awake encourage him to be on his tummy to encourage stronger neck muscles
> Make sure lots of colourful things are around to encourage him to turn his head both ways I wedged a colourful toy at the side of his cot to make him turn towards his non preferred side.
>change bubs posititon in cot so you vary their view of the world. I swapped ends of the cot regularly putting him at a different end each week.
>Vary the way you carry bubs. easy as throwing them over the other shoulder or laying them along your arm.

If bub already has a flat spot turn his head to the bulging side when he is asleep. I also laid my bub on his side if I was able to watch him constantly during a nap. I would lay him in the bassinet and prop a rolled towel behind his back then sit down with a cuppa n put on the tv n kick back for an hour (any excuse!)

I hope this helps. Mild cases will remould over the first year of life. In severe cases the skull shape tends to improve over time but you could see a specialist fro remodelling.

That is a 'synopsis' of the pamphlet I received about misshapen head syndrome. The most important bit tho is this:
IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON A BABYS BRAIN DEVELOPMENT.
My son still has a fairly 'square' head shape but it is uniform now. When he was little he was very obviously flat on one side of his head. All good now!

Hope this helps!
Mel

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

I think the parents choice formula is wonderful. We have been using it for about 2-3 weeks now and he is going just fine on it. My ped asked what kind he was on and when I told him he said its just as good as the others. I love that I feel like I am getting such a good deal. Have you tried the parents choice diapers, they work just fine for us, he does not leak through them at all and they are cheap as well.

MommyWonder - Saturday, 4 October
Thanks so much for your comment on my blog. It is an awful position to be in, but I'm praying through it so hopefully we will be able to start our healing process soon.

I use Similac Advanced and usually make it with room temp. water. I don't know... I just noticed that sometimes there are little clumps at the bottom of the bottle. Someone suggested using a bit of warm water to mix it so it disolves better. I might try that.

Glad to hear Cameron is a little better. Tristan woke up his normal happy self. He doesn't seem to be bothered by it today. He's fussed a few times but usually it's because he's tired and he doesn't want to go to sleep... he might miss something!

I actually do put the water in first, but it still seems to clump. Hmmmm....

Angelia - Wednesday, 1 October
Tristan was miserable in the evening and early part of the night. We just kept the Tylenol going every 4 hrs and then let him snuggle or nurse all he wanted. He was in such agony that although he was hungry and wanted to nurse he wouldn't/couldn't latch on and suckle until his Tylenol had kicked in to give him some relief. His little eyes were rimmed red until this morning.

How sad you little isn't getting any relief from the Tylenol and he's running a fever. One of my daughters would do the same thing. I used to use warm compresses and move her legs to help get the shots absorbed. Once the meds are absorbed into the muscle then it doesn't hurt them as much.

Angelia - Wednesday, 1 October
Today Tristan also got his 2 month shots, except he had to have 5... all in one leg because one of his legs is in cast (club foot correction.) I CRIED when they gave him the shots. His screams were agonizing for me. The nurse gave me tissues and then asked if we would be ok watching both of us crying as she walked out of the room. Immunizations suck.

annabelle77 - Wednesday, 1 October
Has he always been like that, a big eater? I was wondering if it was just a long growth spurt or something. I get my baby weighed on Friday and will see if she has gained an enormous amount of weight. Let me know what the results were!

cadesmommy - Tuesday, 30 September
I was asking because if you still were breastfeeding you would need to be treated or you could pass it back to him. Some people dont even have symptoms so I just thought I was make sure you werent. The only advice I have for bottle feeding is to make sure all his bottles and pacifiers are boiled every day for 5 minutes. My son had thrush twice back to back and that was advice his doctor gave me. Good luck! I know its horrible

cadesmommy - Tuesday, 30 September
I read your Q and A about thrush? Are you breastfeeding?
