OUR BABY IS BORN!!!

Slater Matson is here and very loved!

What an adventure this was! My only regret is that it has ended, never to transpire again. My womb aches for another, yet my family is complete. Slater is a joy and blessing, and I can't wait to get to "know" him more!

Well, 5 times is not a charm! Expecting 5th boy...my husband was the only boy in his family, so I guess he REALLY wanted to make up for it! Still, baby is healthy and that is all that truly matters. He will learn all sorts of stuff from his many brothers, who already say "hi" to him and can't wait to meet him! We are really excited to be pregnant again, as I lost two babies late 2006. This time around, I find I am a nervous wreck though! Every little thing has me concerned, so thank god I am feeling awesome!

Oh I know that feeling! My babies just loved to me held and nursed, so doing stuff one-handed became normal when they were little! I'm looking forward to that again. It can get wearying, having no time to yourself, but so worth it, and yeah, as you say, those months and years pass so fast.

My mother's always criticizing me for doing so much for my kids (she thinks if they can do it themselves, they should) but I enjoy making their beds for them and if I'm not too busy, making them a sandwich or whatever. They are expected to keep their rooms tidy, and to help by doing whatever is asked of them, whenever it is asked, without complaining about it, but I don't ask them to do much or very often. Guess they're a bit spoiled, but I enjoy it.

I do know just what you mean about not ever wanting to feel like wishing I'd spent more time with them. Absolutely. They're such great kids, and I love every minute with them. All back to school today after their 2 week holiday, except little Tycho of course. He's such a cutie, but misses them bad when they're all at school.

I had no problems taking the glucose test. The drink was really cold, but otherwise not unpleasant at all. The blood test was nothing. Doctor says I passed, but didn't tell me what the score was - he's not very good at giving out information. I have to ask so many questions to find out anything. It's quite annoying. But at I passed, and he also did a full blood count and everything was fine, which is also good news - no anemia or anything.

I'm with you on the "girl" friends issue. Most women I know are not people I chose to actually get friendly with. Guys are nicer and a lot more easy-going, as a rule.

I like to get up in the mornings about a half hour before the rest of the family, and that gives me time to do a load of laundry, feed the cat, make a cup of tea, and get on here and catch up with everyone and that's my "me" time for the day. From there, I'm happy to be with the kids and hubby. I love school holidays when they can all be home all day. Shopping: we very rarely all go anywhere together, as the older boys prefer to avoid the shops and are old enough to stay home alone. So I don't get the "are they all yours?" comments so much anymore, but I used to with the four eldest ones close together. Now it's usually just me and Tycho who hit the shops, sometimes one or other of the girls come along, and on Saturdays hubby is with us, too.

Anyway, hope you have a great weekend. Take care! x

Yeah, I'm very proud of my kids. They're all completely different to each other, but all just wonderful people, who I love spending time with. Nice thing about the older ones is that they do become more interesting as people. Jason and Charlie are often very insightful as well as witty and funny. Teenage boys are pretty easy. Our eldest girl is only 13, but I've seen a lot of teenage girls (I was a high school teacher for many years) and they can be really bitchy to each other. I don't expect any problems like that with my two, but they have to put up with a lot of it from their peers at school. I remember that age from about 13 to 15, and girls can be really nasty creatures.

I seem to've been getting clucky every 2 to 5 years, but we really can't have any more kids, so yeah, I'm hoping that 5 years or so from now, my eldest might be thinking of making me a grandchild!! :P

Hope you're having or have had a great day. I'm off to the doctors this morning for my 28wk antenatal and to get the results of my glucose test. Wish me luck!

I know a family of all boys, and the atmosphere is pretty cool. But I understand you wanting a little girl. Anyway, you're only 31 - surely you're not completely ruling out having another?

Teenagers are funny. The age creeps up on you, though. Even Jason, at 17, is still my baby. And I'm very proud of all my kids. Regardless of their school achievement their teachers are always full of praise for their behavior and attitude. They're respectful, sensitive, responsible caring people. Can't ask for more than that! The other day, our next door neighbor came over asking to use our phone (they don't have one) as his house-mate was dead and he had to call an ambulance. He was really distraught. Well, my little Becki (13 year old) sat down and patted his arm and sat with him while he cried and I made him a cuppa while we waited for the ambulance. He was so touched by her empathy and kindness, he bought her a little box of chocolates yesterday to thank her.

Some teens I've seen are nothing but headaches, of course, but I think a lot depends on how you treat them and what expectations you have. Mine are adorable!

Wow, 5 children and you're only 31. Doing great, hon! And don't you look beautiful!! Baby is a sweetie, too!

Our current pregnancy and 5th baby were not exactly planned, but well, you know, things happen... We're VERY happy. Ours are very widely spaced, unlike your brood. Our eldest boy will be 17 this Friday. My husband commented, you know, when Penny turns 17, Jason will be 34!! Uggh!! Makes me feel old!! Our girls and 5 year-old boy are very excited about the new baby. The girls are 10 and 13 years old, and will be excellent baby-sitters, which is great, because hubby doesn't really "DO" babies before they can walk! Never has bathed one and only changed a diaper once when I was in hospital having another one AND he couldn't make it in to the hospital to have me change it!!

Boys are great, aren't they! I'm so proud of mine. Did you hope for a girl? Baby girls are fun because of the pretty outfits you can buy, but there's something about boys... You're very blessed.

I have not compared her to any of my boys cuz every pregnancy I have had has been completely different from one another. The only thing the same with her brothers is that Dru's placenta was in the front also and I didnt' feel him for a along time either. Thanks for the message. :) I know girls are smaller which causes me a little concern because I have a tendency to deliver early but my babies have always been fine cuz they were big for their birth age but they were all boys. We shall see. :)

Yes, it was...the boys thought it was so neat.

I am glad to hear they are still being helpful.
Yes, this is my natural color, Since the day I was born. I am getting ready to get a haircut...a little nervous cuz it's been so long for so long. But I think I might add layers.

I am doing good. Still can't believe I am having a girl. well at first with all the sickness it was completely different I was sooo sick, now that that has passed, it seems the same as the boys. I get side pains and aches like my first pregnancy and my placenta is in the front like my last pregnancy so I don't really feel her much and when I do it is very soft. But all is going good so far, I go in for my Big Target Ultrasound on monday, they do that one in 3D so that will be cool.
Wow, don't these babies grow so fast. 2 months old already, wow I bet he is just wonderful, are the other boys still being big helpers or has that worn off...hee hee. I'm glad you stopped by and left a message, good to hear from you.
