It's A BOY!!!!!! 11-16-07

We had our ultrasound today. Our little man was showing himself quite obviously. We asked the technition if he was sure and his exact words were "oh ya, I'd bet my house and kids on it!" So, guess we will have to come up with a boy name now :-) Also, As I have thought all along, they moved my due date from the 13th of April to the 9th. I estimated around the 8th from the first ultrasound....I knew the ultrasound couldn't be 2 weeks off so I figured if I gave a week of conception time...It would be around the 8th. I knew I know my body better than they did :-)

Well, I posted my story once but it got deleted a while back. So here it is again. After struggeling for a year to get pregnant with our first daughter and two years and fertility treatment for our second daughter, we decided no more treatments and figured we had completed our family. We took in my 6 month old neice for a few months for my sister and bought a perfect little two bedroom cottage in the country to raise our girls. A month after buying our house, and one month before my neice turned a year old, my sister decided she wanted her back. I was devistated. God had a plan though. Within a week I discovered I was pregnant again. It was a tough pregnancy but we were so excited. We were even more excited when we learned we were finally getting a son. He was born the spring of 05 and is now 2 1/2. He's such a wonderful joy. Before he was born we decided our family was complete and my husband went in for a vasectomy. When the procedure was being performed the dr was unable to complete the second side. There was scar tissue and he could not find the tube to snip. He advised my hubby to come back for his 3 month check to be sure but he didn't think that side had ever worked which made sence due to our fertility issues. He told us if that side did turn out to work he would schedule surgery in the hospital. That did not sit well with my husband and he never went back.

Our little cottage began to get a little cramped but nothing we couldn't handle. This summer my husbands cousin had her children taken away. One of them needed a home. She's an adorable little girl the same age as our son so we decided she'd make a great addition to our family and took her in. We are hoping to adopt her next summer. Well, a month to the day after she came to live with us, we got the suprise of our lives....WE ARE PREGNANT AGAIN! We were floored! Needless to say my husband WILL be going in for surgery. We love our location and do not want to move so are sitting tight in every sence of the word untill we can knock down and build on our property.

Although this was a huge suprise that took the past couple of months to adjust to, I am now getting very excited to have a new little addition to our family. Maybe my poor littel sister surrounded son will get a brother. We are hoping to find out Nov. 16th. I will update as soon as we know.

Wow, Our little Sammy is almost 2 months old and we are begining the adoption process for Maddie. I can not believe how much our life has changed from just one year ago! One year ago I was thinking that my life was getting a little bit dull, I had three very well behaved children and was wondering how I could get just one more without having to be pregnant. God instead blessed me with two children! I did have to be pregnant but after the initial shock, it was a pretty easy pregnancy in comparison to the other ones and Sam is a wonderful joy! He's a bit spoiled and likes his attention but is a pretty easy going little guy now that we have the feeding and stuff figured out. For a while it looked as though Maddies dad may re gain custody and that we could lose her but both parents rights have now been terminated and we are on the path to making her ours. As each month passes we are realizing just how much damage was done to her due to the neglect but have her in therapy and are progressing slowly. Live never seems to slow down with 5 very young children in the house. Our 8 year old is a huge help. I don't know what I would do without her. I am anxiouse for them to all be her age and begin doing less care taking and more enjoying and interacting with them. I feel like all I do is prepare food, wipe bottoms, pull little ones out of places they aren't supposed to be in and break up arguments between the bigger ones. I can't wait for the day we can all load up and take a trip to the beach without having to pack 20 changes of clothes and to just be able to say "eveyrone get in the car" and not have to take 20 min to put shoes and socks on them and stop to nurse and take potty breaks eveyr ten minutes becasue 3 year olds have bladders the size of apple seeds. I love to see them hold hands as we walk thru the zoo, or see the big girls reading stories to the little ones. Wow, I just can't get over how full my life has gotten in such a very short time!!!!

Hey there! I hope you and your family are doing well.. Thanks for the message. Yes, Paizley slept 11 hours straight, daycare will do that to you. She comes home exhausted. She's too nosey to take a good nap at daycare. I also make sure she's warm enough. She sleeps in a sleeper w/ 2 blankets. Thank you for your comment on Paizley's name. Her dad came up with her name. We wanted something different.

I can't believe what a big boy Sam looks like in those pictures. As I was scrolling up I was wondering whose baby he was. I didn't even recognize him!

I hope they will work this time...for some reason it does wonders for addy. About the puppy's I don't know how old they are, they really encourage letting the mama dog nurse strickly for at the very least 3 weeks- try not to supplement, because like us with our gland supply and demand-the more they suckle the mor the mom will produce- make sure to give the mama dog plenty of water- every 2 hours so she is hydrated enough- you could even mix it with a supplemnent of milk so she will keep her strength up. We supplemented one puppy with milk ( got it at the pet store- they will recommend which one is best) Then when he was strong enough we would soak his dog food in the milk and blend it...we did that for all the pups at first- so it kind of looked like oatmeal, but it allowed the pupps to learn to open thier mouths. It's such a hard job- but in another sense it is such a beatiful thing!!! Let me know how everything goes!

Oh Poor little guy! Do you think it's teething? Have you tried Hyland teething tablets? That usually puts my daughter right out! there is some natural herb that is very relaxing...Well I hope you get some sleep soon! Don't you just love the little puppies?? It's A LOT of work though, I don't know how you are holding up! When my dog delievered she wasn't the most nurturing mother- actuially I was the one that had to tear the sacs open- she wouldn't do it and she only nursed for about 3 weeks! Well I wish you the best of luck with your son and those adorable pupps!!!

Oh, poor guy. Leah was feeling a little better today, I think. You know how the tail end of a cold goes though with the goopy nose, eyes and barkey cough. She was kind of a mess but her attitude was better... for the most part. We'll try the zoo trip again. I know Leah would love it.

leahsmom - Sunday, 16 November
I HOPE Leah is feeling well by Tuesday. She seemed to just have a little cold the past couple of days but she is really droopy this morning and now that she is sleeping I can hear that unmistakable croupy cough. Ugggh. I hope she does not get it too bad. Alec had it as a toddler and had to go to urgent care, got an inhaler and the whole deal. I keep thinking maybe she'll wake up feeling better but I'm just not sure.

We would love to meet you at the zoo if she is at all up to it. I wouldn't want her to expose Sam or others if she's contagious. I'll keep you informed so we can just give you a tentative confirmation on the date right now.

How are the puppies?

I am free Tuesday as far as I know. Is the weather supposed to hold out? We could do the zoo if it's going to be nice.

I finished my book this morning too. It took so much longer than I thought it would. Mostly my changing and editing everything over and over. I am anxious to see it. If it turns out good, I am going to get one together for Joel of all his sports photos and certificates from Little League on. It would be a nice graduation gift for him I think.

Thank you so much for your advice! I'm going to try the saline drops and tylenol tonight and tomorrow the steam shower if this doesn't work.

I love this age so much! They are so curious about everything! They love exploring anything and are thrilled with what they find. If you don't mind me asking, how do your older kids do in regards to keeping it safe for him around the house? I have an older daughter (she is 9) and I am worried about her leaving little things around (pet shops, barbie shoes, etc.), the door to the bathroom open - it's a few steps away from our living room, etc. She has never had to worry about these things before!

Thanks for looking. My concern is that in some cases the symmetry of the face doesn't align. For example, the tech today said that one ear pushes out further than another and the same for one of his cheeks. So I was concerned with the alignment. I would hate to have him teased in school over something that could have been fixed. I taught middle school and it is disgusting how these kids find anything to make fun of someone for. I told me hubby, if he had crooked teeth,I would get him braces. If he had acne, I would take him to a derm. so thats is all on the sme line...things that are considered "shallow", yet people still would want to treat. My issue was I didnt think it looked that bad, and then the tech today said it was a seven and I am shocked. I guess I just dont feel comfortable about the whole thing...and I dont think its a seven! But thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate you taking the time to look :)

Thanks, he loves it! He put it a little off to the right to leave room for another handprint. :)
I have been bugging him to get a tattoo, but he always said he wanted something with meaning...well it doesn't get anymore meaningful!
I don't know why, I just love tattoo's although I have never been brave enough to get one myself.
I have been pondering the idea of getting all of our birth stones, the actual stone. I just don't know where I would put it. We'll see, maybe one day.
