It's A BOY!!!!!! 11-16-07

We had our ultrasound today. Our little man was showing himself quite obviously. We asked the technition if he was sure and his exact words were "oh ya, I'd bet my house and kids on it!" So, guess we will have to come up with a boy name now :-) Also, As I have thought all along, they moved my due date from the 13th of April to the 9th. I estimated around the 8th from the first ultrasound....I knew the ultrasound couldn't be 2 weeks off so I figured if I gave a week of conception time...It would be around the 8th. I knew I know my body better than they did :-)

Well, I posted my story once but it got deleted a while back. So here it is again. After struggeling for a year to get pregnant with our first daughter and two years and fertility treatment for our second daughter, we decided no more treatments and figured we had completed our family. We took in my 6 month old neice for a few months for my sister and bought a perfect little two bedroom cottage in the country to raise our girls. A month after buying our house, and one month before my neice turned a year old, my sister decided she wanted her back. I was devistated. God had a plan though. Within a week I discovered I was pregnant again. It was a tough pregnancy but we were so excited. We were even more excited when we learned we were finally getting a son. He was born the spring of 05 and is now 2 1/2. He's such a wonderful joy. Before he was born we decided our family was complete and my husband went in for a vasectomy. When the procedure was being performed the dr was unable to complete the second side. There was scar tissue and he could not find the tube to snip. He advised my hubby to come back for his 3 month check to be sure but he didn't think that side had ever worked which made sence due to our fertility issues. He told us if that side did turn out to work he would schedule surgery in the hospital. That did not sit well with my husband and he never went back.

Our little cottage began to get a little cramped but nothing we couldn't handle. This summer my husbands cousin had her children taken away. One of them needed a home. She's an adorable little girl the same age as our son so we decided she'd make a great addition to our family and took her in. We are hoping to adopt her next summer. Well, a month to the day after she came to live with us, we got the suprise of our lives....WE ARE PREGNANT AGAIN! We were floored! Needless to say my husband WILL be going in for surgery. We love our location and do not want to move so are sitting tight in every sence of the word untill we can knock down and build on our property.

Although this was a huge suprise that took the past couple of months to adjust to, I am now getting very excited to have a new little addition to our family. Maybe my poor littel sister surrounded son will get a brother. We are hoping to find out Nov. 16th. I will update as soon as we know.

Wow, Our little Sammy is almost 2 months old and we are begining the adoption process for Maddie. I can not believe how much our life has changed from just one year ago! One year ago I was thinking that my life was getting a little bit dull, I had three very well behaved children and was wondering how I could get just one more without having to be pregnant. God instead blessed me with two children! I did have to be pregnant but after the initial shock, it was a pretty easy pregnancy in comparison to the other ones and Sam is a wonderful joy! He's a bit spoiled and likes his attention but is a pretty easy going little guy now that we have the feeding and stuff figured out. For a while it looked as though Maddies dad may re gain custody and that we could lose her but both parents rights have now been terminated and we are on the path to making her ours. As each month passes we are realizing just how much damage was done to her due to the neglect but have her in therapy and are progressing slowly. Live never seems to slow down with 5 very young children in the house. Our 8 year old is a huge help. I don't know what I would do without her. I am anxiouse for them to all be her age and begin doing less care taking and more enjoying and interacting with them. I feel like all I do is prepare food, wipe bottoms, pull little ones out of places they aren't supposed to be in and break up arguments between the bigger ones. I can't wait for the day we can all load up and take a trip to the beach without having to pack 20 changes of clothes and to just be able to say "eveyrone get in the car" and not have to take 20 min to put shoes and socks on them and stop to nurse and take potty breaks eveyr ten minutes becasue 3 year olds have bladders the size of apple seeds. I love to see them hold hands as we walk thru the zoo, or see the big girls reading stories to the little ones. Wow, I just can't get over how full my life has gotten in such a very short time!!!!

Well the myth of sugar wiring them up is just that a myth when it comes to ADHD kids. Now red dye like red licorise or kool aid will definitely do it! Oh my gosh makes them mad! INSANE! Give her a diet coke if you are worried about the sugar. I always gave Christina small cup of coffee that was sweet from creamer. You might want to consider some kind of daycare for the summer, get her on meds then pull her out stating you changed your mind to wait til Fall. Well good luck with this process. I still have issues with the doctors at times. There are doctors that think that the meds are to much for my kids and want to take them off. I get mad! I say no you aren't! I have done this for enough years to know that we aren't even close to "to much" right now. The doctor that just replaced the last at the counseling agency is loons and wants to take Christina off her meds because she thinks they are making her hyper! Haha thats funny. Chrisy told her you wouldn't say that if you spent an hour with me with out my meds. Well I hope you are enjoying your little man! Erin is in bed for the night. I was going up after a bath to get dressed. She was fussy so I thought heck I don't wanna go to bed but I should so she can go to sleep. I decided to lay her in the bassinet as I was getting dressed. I put the pacifier in her mouth and tucked her in tight. I of course knew I would be picking her up in a minute from her crying...SHE FELL ASLEEP INSTANTLY! OH MY GOSH!!! I stood there in shock, finally turning on the monitor and coming down stairs. Yeah!

Caffiene is not a stimulant to a adhd child. It is the oddest thing. You give a person with an adhd brain speed and they sit still and mellow out...give speed to someone with a normal brain and they are running in circles. I am sure you were fine! Let me know though. Hope you are having a lovely sunny day.

Hey hows it going? I only have a minite....but give a 8 oz cup of coffee. One cup is not to much either unless you make it like espresso. Good luck hunny. I am having issues in the house so I have to go tend them. Hope to talk to you soon.

I enjoy my job and it can be very rewarding. Of course now that I'm a mom I wish I could stay home with Julia but at least I will have had almost 5 months with her by the time I return to work. I am thinking about starting Julia on solids very soon because she just doesn't seem satisfied anymore and she eats a ton. The other day I gave her a bottle of pumped milk and she ate 7 oz. with no problem. Also, the last two nights she has woken up at 4:00 in the morning despite the fact that she has been sleeping through the night for quite a while now. I am just hesitant because they recommend you wait until 4 months and she still has another 10 days or so and I'm worried my pediatrician will get upset with me :(

I had seen something about it on TV a few years ago, and I picked some up. Like I said, I've always had eczema. It's gotten much worse after being pregnant with the hormones and such. They said on the TV show (I think it was that John Ratzenberg's Made in America) that it would clear up just about everything. It is the only thing that works on my kids. I used other diaper creams on my 2nd, and they made it worse. (She has extremely sensitive skin, skin allergies, etc.) This has always worked like a charm! It is expensive, but it lasts a LONG time. I'm glad to help anyone I can...eczema is no fun!

Maddux - Friday, 4 July
Hi, I was shocked to ehar that you can have milk that long after you wean! I guess I just figured once I was done I wouldn't have to worry about milk anymore. To answer your question, I am starting to wean because I have to return to work at the end of August (I am a teacher) and I just can't do the pumping hting at my job, I teach students with disabilities and am lucky to even get a lunch break sometimes so trying to pump at work is not going to happen. My goal when I had Julia was to give her breastmilk for at least 6 months if possible. She will be 4 months old on the 12th and I plan to be feeding her for at least a few weeks longer since I am gradually reducing my feedings but after that I have about 450 ounces of milk frozen (yes I know, I'm like a Dairy Queen) and in all honesty I wasn't planning on quitting quite this early but I have run out of room for milk LOL! Plus I figure that she will soon be on solids so I won't feel quite as bad about weaning a little early. What age do you typically start your little ones on solids?

I feel ya with the ca thing! Last year we took in a stray and it turned out she was pregnant. So we had 4 little kittens locked in our bathroom for about 8 weeks! They were little terrors! I didn't want to let them go either, it was really sad! I would have kept them but I already had 3 other cats! The momma kitty was really sad and meowing for a while and sniffing around, but I just gave her lots of love! Hopefully yours does ok!

Maddux - Friday, 4 July
Hi, thanks for the advice, I will keep with it. Its just hard to be patient sometimes when I get uncomfortable but I'm sure just quitting cold turkey would be worse. I will stick with it.

People can be so mean. I don't know if they truly understand how hurtful those kinds of comments are. To imply that you failed at breastfeeding is just cruel. All we want are healthy babies and lots of healthy babies drink formula. I was lucky to breastfeed for 2 months, but I had to stop. It doesn't mean I've been a bad mom for the past month.

crazyeights - Wednesday, 2 July
Hi, tell your friend it isn't her fault. I WAS nursing Nathan and he got really sick with an allergy to milk protein AND horrific jaundice AND dehydration...the list goes on. I thought I was doing what was best for him by nursing him. By the time they finally figured out what was wrong and told me I could breastfeed him again I had no milk!! (2 doctors said no breastfeeding, 2 said yes, nice huh?) I tried so hard to get my milk back for him. I think it's really bad when moms who are doing their best get made to feel bad for their choices. Like we all don't carry enough "mommy guilt". I'm sorry for your friend. Sometimes you just need to give some kind words even if you don't agree with her choice either. You know??
