It's A BOY!!!!!! 11-16-07

We had our ultrasound today. Our little man was showing himself quite obviously. We asked the technition if he was sure and his exact words were "oh ya, I'd bet my house and kids on it!" So, guess we will have to come up with a boy name now :-) Also, As I have thought all along, they moved my due date from the 13th of April to the 9th. I estimated around the 8th from the first ultrasound....I knew the ultrasound couldn't be 2 weeks off so I figured if I gave a week of conception time...It would be around the 8th. I knew I know my body better than they did :-)

Well, I posted my story once but it got deleted a while back. So here it is again. After struggeling for a year to get pregnant with our first daughter and two years and fertility treatment for our second daughter, we decided no more treatments and figured we had completed our family. We took in my 6 month old neice for a few months for my sister and bought a perfect little two bedroom cottage in the country to raise our girls. A month after buying our house, and one month before my neice turned a year old, my sister decided she wanted her back. I was devistated. God had a plan though. Within a week I discovered I was pregnant again. It was a tough pregnancy but we were so excited. We were even more excited when we learned we were finally getting a son. He was born the spring of 05 and is now 2 1/2. He's such a wonderful joy. Before he was born we decided our family was complete and my husband went in for a vasectomy. When the procedure was being performed the dr was unable to complete the second side. There was scar tissue and he could not find the tube to snip. He advised my hubby to come back for his 3 month check to be sure but he didn't think that side had ever worked which made sence due to our fertility issues. He told us if that side did turn out to work he would schedule surgery in the hospital. That did not sit well with my husband and he never went back.

Our little cottage began to get a little cramped but nothing we couldn't handle. This summer my husbands cousin had her children taken away. One of them needed a home. She's an adorable little girl the same age as our son so we decided she'd make a great addition to our family and took her in. We are hoping to adopt her next summer. Well, a month to the day after she came to live with us, we got the suprise of our lives....WE ARE PREGNANT AGAIN! We were floored! Needless to say my husband WILL be going in for surgery. We love our location and do not want to move so are sitting tight in every sence of the word untill we can knock down and build on our property.

Although this was a huge suprise that took the past couple of months to adjust to, I am now getting very excited to have a new little addition to our family. Maybe my poor littel sister surrounded son will get a brother. We are hoping to find out Nov. 16th. I will update as soon as we know.

Wow, Our little Sammy is almost 2 months old and we are begining the adoption process for Maddie. I can not believe how much our life has changed from just one year ago! One year ago I was thinking that my life was getting a little bit dull, I had three very well behaved children and was wondering how I could get just one more without having to be pregnant. God instead blessed me with two children! I did have to be pregnant but after the initial shock, it was a pretty easy pregnancy in comparison to the other ones and Sam is a wonderful joy! He's a bit spoiled and likes his attention but is a pretty easy going little guy now that we have the feeding and stuff figured out. For a while it looked as though Maddies dad may re gain custody and that we could lose her but both parents rights have now been terminated and we are on the path to making her ours. As each month passes we are realizing just how much damage was done to her due to the neglect but have her in therapy and are progressing slowly. Live never seems to slow down with 5 very young children in the house. Our 8 year old is a huge help. I don't know what I would do without her. I am anxiouse for them to all be her age and begin doing less care taking and more enjoying and interacting with them. I feel like all I do is prepare food, wipe bottoms, pull little ones out of places they aren't supposed to be in and break up arguments between the bigger ones. I can't wait for the day we can all load up and take a trip to the beach without having to pack 20 changes of clothes and to just be able to say "eveyrone get in the car" and not have to take 20 min to put shoes and socks on them and stop to nurse and take potty breaks eveyr ten minutes becasue 3 year olds have bladders the size of apple seeds. I love to see them hold hands as we walk thru the zoo, or see the big girls reading stories to the little ones. Wow, I just can't get over how full my life has gotten in such a very short time!!!!

Ahhh the infamous teeth! Hopefully you get another peaceful night. How cool you and Leahsmom met up! I admit I am jealous! :)

Oh that is good news. She will feel like she is a blessing to someone and not a burden. Sounds like there is no shortage of people who love her so that's cool. I feel for this preschool teacher. I know how hard it is to try for that long. It really makes you appreciate when you do finally have a child! I am just so grateful for my little man! You'll have to keep me posted on you. Going to go and have some breakfast before the house wakes up lol.

Your story is amazing and you have a big heart. You are a natural mother. I was actually applying to adopt a baby (just doing the paperwork to even be considered as an adoptive parent for any six to twelve month infant) when we discovered we were pregnant. We had done more than ten thousand dollars worth of ivf and asst treatments and tried for eight years. I was amazed. I actually had a mc the first time and i thought I'd blown then only shot I'd had in eight years but three months later I foudn out I was pregnant again and it was with my son Slade who is now 5 months old! We might still apply to adopt one day but here the babies need to be two years apart atleast. :-) You have a great story and those kids are lucky to have someone who loves them so much!

I am now giving breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can't believe how much Cole wants to eat. My sitter misunderstood my instructions this morning and only gave him a half jar of applesauce and his bottle and he was P.O'd. I told here I packed him cereal too and to give that to him! Let me know how it went for you last night! Hope you got some sleep!

Thanks. I called the dr and left a message, I guess I'll hear back Monday. I think it's probably just one of those weird things babies do, but it's always better to know!

Hi there, yeah I hear ya! Matthew doesn't fit in very many 6-9 months clothes. He is fitting most comfy in 12-18 months stuff! =) We are doing great though, I saw an ad at our local market (we live about 20 mins out of the city) and it was for a trailer but it was for 6500$ which I didn't have. I was afraid to even call the guy but I did and I went and looked at it and he asked when I could take it and I told him my situation. I said I can put 2000 down and pay 500 a month( thinking he would say no for sure!!) but he said he would talk to his wife and then I got a call back saying she said ok and that I could have it!! It's a two bedroom 2 bath trailer thats 60ft x 12 which is pretty perfect for all of us! No more of 4 us all in one room! SO I am super excited about it and just got to get it moved over here at my parents and get it all set up. So thats the update here, how is your family doing? Did your kids start school yet?

amywithbaby - Friday, 5 September
Thanks so much for responding. It's a bittersweet situation. I think his sleeping with us bothers other people more than it does us. I don't know why we care what others think.....If I do find a good solution I'll let you know!

Yeah, I know! I actually can't wait for Leah to enjoy shopping with me. Joel has a job so he spends his own money on clothes. I do get him a couple of things here and there if they are on sale. Luckily he hasn't gone through a growth spurt lately and most of his stuff from last year still fits. I am a total bargain shopper too. I have bought most of my stuff lately at good old Freddy's half of clearance racks! I like Marshall's and Ross too. I am trying to get Joel to be more money savvy but I guess if there will ever be a time when he can spend on himself, it is now.

Thanks for the comment on water. I'm glad to hear that it can be done because outside of my family, I haven't met many others are big water drinkers.

Thank you so much.

I totally didn't take offense at all! I love hearing everyone else's stories. Too many on this site take things personally. I've upset someone before without meaning to and since then I take everyone's comments as just that - comments. No one wants to hurt anyone. The time I inadvertently upset someone I cried because I so didn't mean to. It was awful to know that someone I'd never met thought I was being a bitch! Anyway, keep posting and never fear!

Today was the first day for students. It went fairly well. It's always crazy though. I love the skinny jean story! I was at Streets of Tanasbourne with the boys this weekend. I ended up getting Alec some swim shorts at REI (half off clearance!)but nothing else. I guess I'll have to take him out again later. My oldest, Joel, looked in every store I swear, for a jacket and shoes. We ended up going over to the Rack and he found shoes there. I guess, as I stand for hours in Pac Sun and Zumiez... with a baby and an 8 year old, I am getting payback for all the shopping I put him through when he was little and hated it!

kbpc3949 - Wednesday, 3 September
How is it going with your neice these days? Any better?

leahsmom - Wednesday, 3 September
Monday at 9am would be perfect. I have to drop Alec off at 8:45 at his school. I was just asked by one of his classmate's moms if I wanted to meet at BJ's around that time for a FG Mom's group get together. So, they'll be there too. I might just have to pop over and say hi. I don't really know any of them... I don't think I do anyway. You know how it is in this small town!

I like to cook so I think it's fun and the fruits and veggies are pretty easy- Just peel, chop and cook them in the microwave and puree in the blender. Since they freeze well you can prepare a month's worth in about an hour or so. I did chicken this weekend and it was a little more involved but turned out well. I put a little in her veggie last night and she liked it okay. I was reading that they are starting to recommend meats as one of the first foods at 6 months, especially for breast fed babies since their stores of iron are depleted around that time and they must get it from their diet. It said just to give small amounts each day until they are around 8 months. I guess too much protein can be hard on their kidneys. I'm going to give her a teaspoon or so with her evening veggie and see how she does with it.

I thought about trying the Kirkland diapers but you have to commit to using them for a while when you buy one of those big boxes! I saw the earths best baby food there too. I have tried some of the first foods and they seemed about the same as Gerber to me. They are just organic. I wonder how the $$ compares. I hate spending so much money on baby food! When my first was little they were 4/$1. With my second they were 3/$1. Now they are 2/$1.25. I'm cheap- ha ha! That is another reason I am into making Leah's food.

Should we plan a coffee date for BJ's? I could do next Monday or Tuesday or the following week on Monday or Tuesday.

Brenda

Thank you. My husband is the only weak one in the house for her. I'm from a family full of females so she's just part of the mix for me Him....well we'll see how he does.
Hey, how's your sister? Still keeping the family shaking their heads and you laughing? You're sister stories kept me laughing to tears while I was pregnant.
