Wednesday, 23 July Thanks for the comment. It was really hard at first, but every day it gets a little easier to deal with. She was absolutely beautiful though, that's for sure. summerisis -
Wednesday, 23 July Hi everyone! Aloha from Sierra. She had her 4-month Well Baby visit on Monday and weighed 13 pounds 9 ounces (50th percentile). She's long and lean at 23 1/2 inches (75th - 90th percentile) but has a peanut head (25th percentile). Overall, she's doing splendid.
We're on the plane right now - heading to California to see the family. It's rather exciting except that the oil filter on the plane has to be replaced so rather than revving the engines and taking off, we headed back to the gate for a repair. It's a little scary if you ask me and we've successfully missed our transfer flight. At least the kid is chill! So, if you hear about Flight 92 crashing, you'll know who was on it! I hope you all have a good day. We'll post some pics shortly. Dunno if I can do it from my cel. Tootles and Aloha! Jeni and Sierra jamuna -
Wednesday, 23 July i am waiting until my daughter is 2 to start vaccinations, and then we are only getting immunized for the most serious illnesses. check out 'generationrescue.org'. they have 2 alternate vaccination schedules. and fyi: the chickenpox vaccine doesn't protect you for life; if you end up getting it as an adult (after your vaccine has worn off) it is much more serious disease. i had chicken pox as a kid, and yes it sucked, but now i can never get it again. it is way less serious an illness for kids.
i realize vaccines are a touchy subject; i'm sure you will figure out the right decision for you and your baby. ladobruk -
Wednesday, 23 July Chicken pox can cause other illnesses later in life and can also be very serious if you get them as an adult, especially a pregnant woman. gabymom -

Saturday, 12 July I don't really know what is considered good either but Jamison usually sleeps 11 hours with 1 night waking to eat that lasts about 5 to 15 minutes. It sounds like your baby is doing almost that, it doesn't seem too bad for me. tatianamommy -
Friday, 11 July Your welcome! I hope it does work for you. Let me know if you have any questions! :-) tatianamommy -
Thursday, 10 July I have Caleb (8weeks) on a 2.5 hour cycle. He wakes up, eats, plays for a bit, naps then wakes up to eat all within 2.5 hours. So we wake up at 8:30am and he will nurse for about15-30 min (9am). We then play, sing, talk or whatever. By 9:30-10a he will start to get sleepy and nap. I make sure he sleeps util the cycle ends which would be 11am (2.5 hours from 8:30a). At 11a the next cycle starts...he will eat for 15-30 min (11:30a) stay awake for another 30 min to an hour (12-12:30). then nap from 1 to 1.5 hours depending on how long he stayed up but he needs to sleep until at least 1:30....that is 2.5 hours from 11am.
So here is our day: (Sorry for the book!!)
------------------------------------------------------
8:30am - wake up - I will start by nursing him in bed and talking to him. Then we go and change his diaper and get him dressed in daytime clothes. We then will stay awake for another 30-45 minutes or so and we sing, watch baby einstin or something.
9:30am - Nap Time - Around 9:30ish, he goes in his swing for a nap. He normally will nap until 11am. If he is still sleeping by 11am, I wake him up.
11am - Nurse - he will then play for a bit and we sing and talk then I will bring him in his crib (we don't use the crib at night yet) and lay him in there and turn on the mobile. I'm hoping that by 12ish, he falls asleep.
12PM - Nap -
1:30Pm - nurse - if he sleeps past 1:30, I wake him up and we do the nurseing...play...getting sleepy thing until 2:30ish
2:30pm - Nap - Swing or crib, depends on the day.
4:00pm - Nurse
5pm - Nap
6:30 -Nurse
7-8:00 - Nap...maybe...
8:30 - Bath. If he was sleeping, we wake him up for his bath, give him a massage, put his P.Js on then lay down in bed to nurse
9pm - Nurse- then hubby will put him in the bassinet with his pacifier, play his bed time music and leave the room. Within an hour, he is asleep!
---------------------------------------------------------------
So you can see that caleb has 4-5 naps a day. The more the baby sleeps during the day the better they will sleep at night.

Thursday, 10 July Oh yeah, I also don't let Jamison nap for longer than 2 to 2 1/2 hours at a time. How does your baby sleep at night? mom2boy -
Thursday, 10 July I wouldn't keep your baby awake for more than 2 hours at a time. I would even nap her sooner if she is acting tired. I also would feed her at least every 3 hours if she is breastfed. Jamison takes his first morning nap 1 hour after he gets up. I nap him as soon as he acts tired. I recommend the book "Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child" ABCMommy -
Thursday, 10 July For the first couple weeks of life you don't want the baby to go more then 3 or 4 hours with out eating because the blood sugar drops and they can have a seizure. Your baby is old enough now that it can sleep as long as it wants, He/she will wake up when it wants to eat so don't worry. I wouldn't worry about nap times right now, that's just silly! It's still a new baby! There's no reason to stress yourself out over it and even more the baby, at that age they are more sesptible to getting sick the more they are stressed. I don't plan on forcing nap times until she's running around and wanting to stay awake all the time and still getting cranky. When she get's cranky, we take a nap but until that age comes, I let her sleep when she likes, the only thing I'm strick on is keeping the lights off at night (she wakes up and wants the lights on so she can see, So I let her be awake if she likes but will not turn the lights on cause she has to learn that it's night time) anyways...totally getting long, hope something in that helped! :-) katiebaby1434 -
Wednesday, 9 July YES! I'm still sore and I'm 11 weeks pp, I don't think I will ever have sex again =( DANNIE -
Wednesday, 9 July Get the book The 90 Minute Baby Sleep Program By Polly Moore www.pollymoore.com It is a great book and has really helped me with my son. cate -
Wednesday, 9 July I was wondering the same thing! My daughter will be 7 weeks on Sat, and it seems like she's always sleeping. Like you said, way more than 3 naps a day. But when I try and keep her up, she just gets fussy, so I let her sleep.
Maybe they're just having a growth spurt or something? monica9 -

Monday, 30 June My baby had a heat rash of tiny read little bumps that went from the top of her eyebrow and all the way back to the middle top of her scalp. The doctor did verify the heat rash and said that it would go away on its own. I was worried because she had had it a couple of days and I finally took her in. I think it lasted a good week or two.
