Friday, 8 August Hey Girl! Wanted to let you know that our switch to gentle ease formula has gone wonderfully. It does not smell nearly as strong as the AR. It actually kind of reminds me of the smell of potato chips! But the baby is MUCHHHHH happier now. We are using the target brand which is $14 for a 24 oz can. smurfwxmama -
Monday, 4 August Thanks for the info, unfortunately Ethen decides what's gonna work! At first it was the swaddling, now it just seems to be sleeping on mommy! And he loves to fall asleep when I put him down to try and get some tummy time, not too surprising as my hubby and I love to sleep on our bellies and Madison was all about her tummy too, as soon as she could roll over she was sleeping on her tummy no matter how many times we put her on her back.
The one thing that is annoying is that I'll swaddle him and he'll do fine for about 10 mins but then he's trying to stretch and making so many grunting noises he wakes himself up and then doesn't want to go back to sleep! smurfwxmama -

Friday, 1 August I just read on the BF page that you were wondering if you being sick was going to harm baby if you breastfeed...just to let you know that it's better for them if you do breastfeed while your sick...because your body will be fighting the infection and making anti bodies towards the infection you have...then these antibodies go through into your breastmilk..and help the baby fight off the illness to..the likelyhood that your baby will catch whatever you have caught is quite high seen as your going to be in close contact with them anyway(wherther bottle or breastfeeding) and it's better that they get the antibodies to help fight it off..just be sure to be clean..wash your hand regularly and try not to kiss them too much..just to help stop it spreading..if you had anything majoy like Hiv..then it's not a good idea....common colds and bugs are fine...hope this helps..oh i've been breastffeding my son for almost a year now..so any questions about it ask..and I may be able to help..good luck and congratulations..Xx nmck -
Thursday, 31 July I will let you know how it goes! However, I pumped for my son the whole time he was in the NICU. I can tell you that all formulas stink compared to breastmilk. Also, breast milk is sweeter than most formulas. Your son is bound to prefer you no matter what. I see you posted a lot of comments about fussiness. Hang on girl. They are bound to outgrow this phase and I am with you. Maybe we are earning some super laid back babies for the next round!!! homebysunset -
Thursday, 31 July My sister-in-law uses Enfamil AR for her baby with reflux branbug -
Thursday, 31 July No it didn't smell bad at all. Maybe ask your pediatrician for a sample. I know mine carries samples for that one and several others. :) that way before you buy it you can see if that works. mountainmama -
Thursday, 31 July thanks for replying. it gives me hope!! i also just read that milk supply can be lower in the evening...maybe that could be it, too. she'll be 5 weeks tomorrow already. how fast it has gone already. branbug -
Thursday, 31 July Also my step daughter used Nutramagin and that worked great for her...but it's one of the most expensive ones out there!! So i'd try Good Start first. :0)! branbug -
Thursday, 31 July The only thing that worked for him and it was a charm was Good Start Soy!! :0) it is great andyou can sign up at www.goodstart.com for coupons for whichever formula you decide on...they will send you gift checks in the mail montly...my daughter uses the good start supreme DHA and ARA and never spits up...i tried enfamil and similac with both kids and Good Start for my family is so far the best...2 of my friends and a cousin uses good start as well. Good luck and let me know what you decide!! nmck -

Wednesday, 30 July Yeah, I know pacis are not bad at her age but us waking 22 times in the night to pop it back in was not good for anyone - that was why we removed it altogehter, I am happy to say tonight she settled relatively quickly with little fuss - this is our 3rd night without it and it seems it is getting better. As for gas, I stopped drinking juices and it has worked a treat! I had no idea juice could be bad for them, and it seemed it was the culprit. She still gets gas every now and then, but not as severe nor as painful for her (and us)! x

Tuesday, 29 July Thanks, I never even thought about that. Thanks for the tip! SmurfWxMama -
Tuesday, 29 July Thanks for the info/encouragement. Last night lil man was up for about 6hrs and was eating for about 4 1/2 of those, I know he cleaned me out a few times, not sure how there is anything left to feed him with right now but just like you I know he's getting plenty cause he has gained tons of weight already. at his 2 wk check up he'd gained a pound from when we'd left the hospital at 4 days...now if I can only get him to sleep that would be great! Monday, 28 July Hi, my little girl has reflux and I am supplementing with Enfamil AR. It is specifically for babies that have reflux problems. I have also used Enfamil gentlease (for colic) and did okay with that as well. HDugan26 -
Monday, 28 July try similac sensitive! My little man hated soy too...which was good for us as the smell is wretched! But he reacted very well to the sensitive, which is still milk based! shannon13 -
Saturday, 26 July Our Ped had us use prevacid--which dissolves in water and apparently he liked water because he looked forward to taking it! Also, the reflux peaked around 4 months and things got so bad that he wouldn't let us put him down ever! So our Ped added another med (can't remember what it was, but it treats the symptoms). Those both helped a decent amount, but what really changed things was when he learned to sit up on his own at 5 months--so introducing a baby bumbo as soon as it seams appropriate may help also. He also used to really do well sleeping in swings, carseats, stroller, other upright positions for naps. He is 8 months and still prefers to take naps in a carseat! I am not looking forward to when he outgrows his infant seat. MilMom2Be -
Saturday, 26 July NP, if you try the soy let me know how it works for you! johna -
Friday, 25 July Just the regular goodstart, it's in an orange can. They make all kinds though, for different needs. Daisy04 -
Friday, 25 July monica i feel for ya..alimentum is the most vile tasting of all the formulas...the rest dont tast bad at all...its a miracle to get any baby to take it...mine has been on it from the start so he dosnt know any different. Maybe you could try the similac soy one...it tastes alot better and is closer to breast milk tasting apparently. Im hoping to switch my baby to the soy and off the alimentum when he get to 12weeks. Apparently thie tummies can take about anything at that age. There is also a similac sensitive that tastes nice and milky too...my baby loved it buy it gave him the runny poops...hopefully when hes 12 weeks. But seriously...the alimentum tastes disgusting...ewwwww. Good luck to you..xxx babyboysmama -
Wednesday, 23 July Sorry it took so long for me to respond...the gripe water I use is just the fennel and ginger it's made by Little Tummies and I get it at CVS....I do exactly what you do with the feeding...Mayson BF's at 5pm, 9pm, and 5am and at 10am our nanny gives him a bottle with breastmilk and cereal in it, his 2pm afternoon bottle is only breastmilk...when do you plan on trying to feed some of the cereal on a spoon? kelly714 -
Wednesday, 23 July I really hope I can have the same happy ending as you! Im so tired of pumping and I keep getting so close to quitting trying to nurse him. I cant get my nipple close to the top of the shield? Ive tried 2 different sizes and cant get it all the way up even after pumping a little to get it sticking out? I dont know what to do at this point, I guess Ill just keep trying until I/we cant take it anymore! MilMom2Be -
Tuesday, 22 July Thank you! I feel better about trying it now..
