My husband and I are expecting our first baby any day now...over a year and a half ago a doctor told me that I would have a really hard time conceiving and that I would need surgery to remove endometriosis lesions from my uterus if I wanted to get pregnant. We decided to think about the surgery in a year or two and kept an international adoption as an option in the back of our minds.

I decided to return to school in hopes of becoming a midwife. Two months into classes and I come down with the "flu" and realize I'm pregnant. Even though the baby could be here tomorrow we're both still in a state of shock--we can't believe we found each other let alone that we're having a baby!!

Last week my midwife told me I needed to stop working since my blood pressure is on the high side, so I've been relaxing at home, nesting up in our little apartment. Maternity leaves are horrible here in the States so I'm hoping she gets here sooner than later so I can spend as much time as possible with her before heading back to work.

We can't wait for our summer together...

my little girl has a heart murmur. she saw a pediatric cardilogist at 4 months and they did an echocardiogram, or whatever its called. she is now 10 1/2 months old and her follow up appointment will be in september, so i shall see then. it doesn't hurt her, or cause her any problems, and it SHOULD correct itself. until you follow up on it later on in your baby's first year, i would just not think about it :-)

Hi...I think I wrote a blog on my son's 2 month experience with a heart murmur...my son did the cardiology visit...and everything...I was told that...babies still develop outside the womb...and not to worry...most babies have murmur..which goes away in time.

No problem, good luck to you and your little girl! I know it is scary but this is a very controlable issue!

I had to feed very often for first 6 weeks. Now he is 12 weeks and eats every 3 hours. Sometimes it takes a little to your body to adjust to baby needs. Watch weight gain, if baby is gaining weight well you have enough milk (I got scale from Amazon for $70 but you can just weigh yourself with baby every 4 days to gen an idea).

I didn't last too long with on demand deal. When he was 5 days, I started on every 2 hours schedule and offered paci if he screamed. Now he is over 14 lbs (at 10 weeks) so he is huge :-) good luck.

Isabella did that and continues to cluster feed at almost 8 wks. I found that pumping in the morning and giving her that milk at her fussy times works and lets my breasts fill up a little more and also get some rest! That way she gets satisfied before bed. Works for us!

Thank you for your response. :o) I had almost no swelling at all during the pregnancy, so that's why now I'm like, what is this?? I agree with you about the water...I used to drink a ton of it, but I got out of the habit in the last two weeks. I probably need it now more than ever! :o)

The rash looks like hyves. They start of as itchy spots then turn into hyves. It is absolutely horrible! I started developing PUPP 6 weeks after delivery, it is very rare but it does happen. Starts at you belly then spreads to your arms and legs. Wish you all the best and hope you will find something that helps you

I just saw your post asking about gdiapers. I have been using them since my son was born and loved them. However, he is 6 mo old now and they are leaking quite a bit. I think the inserts aren't absorbant enough for him anymore. Still really liked them though.

Oh good so you tried the California baby stuff? I didn't know anyone that had. That is good to know and now I can consider it:) a calm baby is worth its weight in gold i hear

I have the Lansinoh double electric, and I like it, but if you do have the extra money I would recomend getting a medela. I didn't think the noise would bother me, but when my baby is sleeping I don't want to disturb her, a medela is quieter and has alot more accesory options. With the Lansinoh you cannot get different size breast shields, so if you have smaller or larger breasts it can be a pain. I do like it tho, but I wish I had spent the extra $75 for the Medela...

I'm now wondering if the bath and body works stuff is just natural and not necessarily USDA organic. I guess I could do a search online to see!

Thank you, I knew it wasn't painless but I wasn't quite sure . . .

Thanks for your suggestions on organic products for baby care. I also found Method in BRU - the ingredients look to be natural. I might try that initially, but I will def check out the ones you mentioned. Someone else told me that they sell organic baby care products for babies at Bath and Body Works. I haven't checked it out yet though. Just fyi!:)

Lol...my husband thought I was nuts to even try it, but we (baby & I) managed to get him warmed up to the idea. And yes being tuned in with baby, wearing baby & basically making baby an extension of yourself (which is the nuts part with 4 other kids) was always a challenge at the beginning, and hopefully more success this time around, although it may not happen & thats cool too
Whatever you decide to do will be the best thing for you & baby & daddy, parenting in itself is the most challenging thing anybody could possibly go through & yet here we are.
Good luck with everything Mountainmama, god bless & all the best x
