My husband and I are expecting our first baby any day now...over a year and a half ago a doctor told me that I would have a really hard time conceiving and that I would need surgery to remove endometriosis lesions from my uterus if I wanted to get pregnant. We decided to think about the surgery in a year or two and kept an international adoption as an option in the back of our minds.

I decided to return to school in hopes of becoming a midwife. Two months into classes and I come down with the "flu" and realize I'm pregnant. Even though the baby could be here tomorrow we're both still in a state of shock--we can't believe we found each other let alone that we're having a baby!!

Last week my midwife told me I needed to stop working since my blood pressure is on the high side, so I've been relaxing at home, nesting up in our little apartment. Maternity leaves are horrible here in the States so I'm hoping she gets here sooner than later so I can spend as much time as possible with her before heading back to work.

my husband and i brought our little girl to the cardiologist today. she had an ekg & ultrasound. the doctor said that her heart murmur is "benign." nothing to worry about (just like everyone said...) thank god. i cried in the parking lot. i don't know how parents of sick kids do it.

Well, my girls were born on Sept 25th - quick copy and paste of my "birth story" will follow. Hope all is well with you!!!
*********
Well, my baby girls were born on Sept 25th. I was 33 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I had NO clue that they were coming that day! I had been taking a bath and stood up to shower off and saw blood everywhere. Of course I totally freaked and called up the hubby to take me to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital @ 11:00 in the morning. My doc showed up about 15-20 minutes later, checked me and I was dilated to 4. Karissa's (baby B) placenta had ruptured so I was taken immediately to have an emergency c-section. Breanne was born @ 12:13 and Karissa followed @ 12:15.
I was in the hospital with them for 5 days total, and they are still there. Both babies are doing wonderful though! Breanne was off oxygen the first night and Karissa followed the next day. I cannot wait to bring my beautiful baby girls home!!!

I feel the same way at times when I'm really exhausted.. I just want to give up but I'm trying to keep at it. It helps that I don't own any bottles or formula lol.

stcy2113 - Monday, 29 September
This is my 2nd week back to work, and it is a little easier. I know how you feel. I have a big pic of my baby on my desk and look at her every few mins, I call the sitter 10 times a day, lol. Hope your 2nd week is a little better. :)

roseplus1 - Monday, 29 September
You should leave it in the and ask her how she feels about using it. Is she the only infant? If so she might be more inclined to use it.

vickiessecret - Saturday, 27 September
Hey thank you for your comment, she feeds like crazy, and it seems like shes never satisfied, I hope it gets easier. She's 2 weeks in just a few hours. I can't wait till she does 15-20 mins on each side and then is good for 3-4 hours that will be nice. Well at least I'm not the only one that has experienced this, thank you for commenting back :)

tana - Friday, 26 September
totally awesome -wyatt has one poking through too.

kelly714 - Friday, 26 September
You so totally are not over reacting. It seems like if they'll leave another baby crying right in front of you, that they might do it to your baby or do other crap when noone's around. You should ask them about it if you go back. Maybe there's a situation with that other baby where the parents know the baby cries when sleepy or something and they let them cry it out? I personally would be horrified though. I feel so bad for you, it must be soooo hard :(

roseplus1 - Friday, 26 September
I know it is rough. Sometimes I walk in and can take one look at her and know that she has been crying all day. Why I understand that they can not attend to them as soon as they cry if they are dealing with another baby. I just wish they could hold her all day. It gets better for them and for us as they adjust.

michelles - Thursday, 25 September
i can't wait til the day it no longer hurts. it's getting better, i think that I have improved the latch quite a bit in the last few days so once this cracked one heals we should be good to go. thanks again for the advice...

roseplus1 - Thursday, 25 September
Thanks. And you are welcome.

Mountainmama--I breastfeed and my son takes about 4 1/2 -5 oz of expressed milk for his very first feed in the morning after I'm gone to work (that's the only time he would take more than 4 oz), then two 3-4 oz bottles of expressed milk until I come back in the afternoon. I am told by our sitter that he doesn't even finish 3 oz some afternoons. He is 88% percentile. I pump twice and get about 12-13 oz during the day when I'm away from him (10 hr) and that's what he gets to eat the next day.. and we dont' have to supplement with formula..he even has some left over milk in the fridge. Do not worry, they get what they need.

mommad - Wednesday, 24 September
I had surgery last week and couldn't nurse for 24 hours. I had pumped and had made 4 oz bottles for my hubby to give my baby, but she only took 3 oz.

roseplus1 - Wednesday, 24 September
Well, mountainmama, I was goig to say that my baby does not eat a lot at one sitting either when fed breast milk in a bottle. Angiepangie helped explain why to me too . My baby nurses all night when she comes home though, I think they have to get used to bieng away from us.

Oh, some one told me that our bodies make what they need. So I always assumed whatever I pumped was what she would eat. Thats only about 12 oz in a 9 hour time frame.

Amandarekkedal - Tuesday, 23 September
Hey there lady! Just checking in! Hope all is well

phonics - Tuesday, 23 September
Tanks! My baby is 11 weeks and should be around 13 pounds right now. She was gaining an ounce a day and at 9 weeks she was 12 pounds and 1 ounce. She was 23.5 inches at 8 weeks. I am beginning to wonder about this weight stuff that they have for clothing because everyoneI know has babies that are heavier than that.

Your baby is beautiful!

Thanks!

stcy2113 - Tuesday, 23 September
Thanks for the comment. I feel better talking to other moms in the same boat. How was your 1st day away? I hope it gets easier!

mommyxs3 - Monday, 22 September
It can take as little as 2 hours or up to 4 for your food to make it to your milk. :) Thats what I was told so that I could monitor any reaction she has to what I've eaten. So far so good. ;) Hope that helps!

roseplus1 - Sunday, 21 September
Well, she is now taking only one bottle at daycare. While I am perfectly content to keep breastfeeding her, I would love to go out sometimes and have someone else watch her. We are trying again today. Wish us luck.

tana - Sunday, 21 September
 i love this pic....

roseplus1 - Saturday, 20 September
I tried the adiri bottle today no luck yet, I was going to pick up the first year breast flow but did not..I am wishing I did. Maybe I will have better luck tomorrow.

tana - Saturday, 20 September
I read your post on teething, my son is also teething and he is 3 months old. All of my children had teeth by 4months old. ttyl

Amandarekkedal - Friday, 19 September
Thanks! I have a lot to learn about breastfeeding... will be nice to have an "experienced" person to talk with!

The girls are due 11/10 - however, since there are two, my Doc said they are considered full term at 37 weeks. I believe I will be scheduling the c-section soon, and it will be mid October they come! Hopefully 35-36 weeks (before my Doc leaves for a convention!) Of course, that is all subject to me not going into labor before then. I am currently off work trying to keep em in there! (this house business is not much fun either! I keep staring at the same walls all day... very much looking forward to the end!)

roseplus1 - Friday, 19 September
I had to order the bottle and it has not come yet. I was thinking about trying the first year brand I saw someone with it this week. If the Adiri does not work I will try the first year. I tell you children are way to expensive :)

I am sorry that you have to send the baby to daycare, it sucks. But there really isn't anything like the anticipation all day of seeing her at the end of the day. I love the picture of her. She is so cute.
