I figure now that I'm almost in the 2nd trimester, I should actually put something on this page! My husband and I are expecting our 1st child June 13th 2008 and we are very excited. We decided to get advanced degrees before we started our family, so I'm very thankful that it was able to work out that way. I will be done with school in February. I'm appreciative of this website and the opportunity to 'chat' with other women who are also expecting.

Above is a picture of me, my husband and our current "baby," Theo the cat. We hope he won't be too jealous of the new arrival in June!

Monday, 3 Dec
I feel like I should clarify my above entry... I said I'm pregnant with my 1st child, but I really meant I don't have any living children yet. I did have a miscarriage earlier this year. So really this is my 2nd pregnancy. I felt the need to clarify, because when I re-read my entry, I felt that I was being disrespectful to the child I lost. It was a very painful experience to go through, but somehow I've made it through. It helped that I was able to get pregnant again right away.
I'm feeling pretty good these days, nausea is pretty much gone, although I'm still pretty tired. I think part of it is just being emotionally drained from thinking of the exciting changes that are ahead!
I've managed to stay out of maternity clothes so far, but I don't know much longer that'll last. I feel like my tummy is sticking out more than usual. I've also tried to hold off on buying baby clothes, but I think I'll be breaking down soon!
Best of luck to everyone!

Had my 14 week appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat again! S/he apparently likes to lay on my right side, since that past 3 times that's where they've found the heartbeat. I'm feeling really great these days, just waiting for my belly to 'pop' one of these days!
Now that I'm done with finals I have told most of my friends our big news, but I still haven't told my work. I'll probably break down and tell them soon. For some reason I'm finding it hard to picture walking around and telling all of my co-workers that I'm pregnant. Not quite sure why, since I've loved being able to tell everyone else.

We had our level 2 ultrasound today and were so relieved to hear the doctor say that everything looked just great! There wasn `t a single sign of any type of birth defect or anything else concerning. We were so relieved. I drank a bit of coffee before I went, and the baby was moving around like crazy! S/he would kick at the ultrasound wand when the tech would dig it into my abdomen. As my husband said, it looks like s/he is already a bit feisty, just like mom! :) We were just so relieved to see that everything went well. In fact, they actually decreased my odds of having a baby with downs or other abnormalities because everything looked so good. I also found out that I `m probably not feeling much movement yet because the placenta is directly in front of my belly button, so it `s covering the area where I `d feel the kicks. I `m also measuring at about 20 wks, 2 days, but they `ll still keep my due date the same for now. Now I just can `t wait to meet him/her!

Thursday, 21 Feb
Had my appointment today & was pleased to hear that everything seems to be going well. Heartbeat was 16O, which is the highest it `s ever been! My dr also commented that `he ` is very active... we were not trying to find out the gender, but everyone keeps saying he! I had my ultrasound done at a different place, and they said they don `t include the gender on the info they send my dr, so I have no idea if that was just a `guess ` on her part, or a `slip. ` Oh well, we `ll find out for sure in June! The only concerning thing for me is that I `ve gained 2O lbs. I think it really is mostly in my belly, but it `s pretty hard to hear that I `ve gained that much, and I `m not even 2/3 of the way done! Oh well, all for a good cause!

Thursday, 28 Feb
Well, I just spent the last 2 days taking the bar exam and I `m soooo happy it `s over! Taking the bar isn `t a treat regardless of the circumstances, but it was especially challenging being 24 wks pregnant. S/he was kicking me all throughout the exam which was just making me giggle. Of course I hope I passed, but more importantly I `m just happy to be done and able to finally focus on `baby-stuff. `

Monday, 10 Mar
Our good friends gave us their crib and changing table last night, and we set it up in the nursery. It really made everything feel so real - I found myself thinking that I couldn `t believe there `s going to be a baby in there in a few short months! It `s very exciting. Some other friends brought over some toys and other supplies, so I feel very lucky to have so many friends who are helping us out.I `m feeling pretty good these days, though sleeping is getting a bit more challenging. I `m feeling kicks pretty consistently, but I do still feel them more strongly some days than others. I look forward to feeling them on a regular basis.

Friday, 21 Mar

Passed my GD test today - thank goodness! I was really nervous for it, mainly because I feel like all I eat these days is sweets. The funny part is that s/he is literally laying sideways! No wonder my belly is oval-shaped. The doctor thinks the pressure I `ve been feeling under my left ribs is its little butt! It `s laying kind of bent over. They said there is plenty of time for it to turn so it `s not concerning at all. I have a feeling we `re in for quite a ride once s/he arrives... s/he is already marching to the beat of his/her own drum!

Thursday, 1 May

We had an appt today to find out why my fundal height was measuring so far ahead. I had an u/s first, and couldn't believe that my husband wasn't there by the time they called my name. I was starting to get worried because it's not like him to miss an appt. He's a teacher, and it turns out he had a big fight break out in his room just as he was about to leave for the appt, and he had to stay & suspend a few kids. He missed the whole u/s. He felt horrible too. I think the tech felt bad that he couldn't be there, so she threw in a few 4D pics of the baby's face. It just melted my heart! S/he is soooo cute already! S/he has chubby little cheeks, and the tech said s/he already has some hair! It's just amazing what they can see.

Then we met with the dr. She confirmed that the baby is very large, and she estimates it's about 6.5 lbs at this point. Yikes! If I went full-term, it'd probably be minimally 9.5 lbs. Depending on how much longer s/he stays in there, I may need a c-section. At first I was terrified at the idea, but then my dr explained some of the risks associated with vaginal birth with a baby that large, and I decided I'm just fine with the c-section! Nothing is set in stone yet, so we'll see what happens. I'll do anything to make sure s/he arrives here happy and healthy!

Hi again! I agree that fatigue is starting to catch up to me again too. One night last week I actually went to bed a 6pm! I didn't mean to, figured I would nap, but woke up after midnight and figured I may as well stay in bed. After work, I'm usually too tired to cook as well! So maternity leave will be nice but it may slow time down for me being off everyday- oh well.

Yesterday we set up the crib and started washing baby clothes. Now that there are little baby things hanging to dry and folded in drawers, it makes it feel like the baby really lives with us. And the crib is next to our bed in our room. Wow, does that ever make it real too!

I'm looking forward to leaving this job in some ways. I like my students, but not some of my coworkers, including the head teacher at my school who is such a sarcastic meanie who is hard on everyone but lazy himself (know the type?) I can't wait til I don't have to hear his voice anymore!!! (He's giving another teacher a hard time as I write this even). Oaf! Sorry, had to vent that :) Happy Mother's Day by the way :)

Thank you, and a very happy Mother's Day (to be) to you!!

Hey sweetie, I don't know what's wrong with my friend. I guess there are some people who just enjoy making or trying to make others feel bad. My cousin is like that too. She makes comments on how big I am and how I'm not going to lose the weight. My weight has flucuated since I was 21 years old. I go up and I go down but I've pretty much always been a size 10. Even after I hit 30 and my body started to change I still didn't go past a 10. If I'm bigger after the baby, then that's a small sacrifice to have this beautiful baby.

The lady at your church is sad. She's doing her best to make you feel bad about being pregnant. And you are doing the right thing by not acknowledging her behavior. Just keep on being positive and happy and loving even to her.

Yes she has a son a year older than mine. He's 17 and she's short and not fat but kind of heavy.

Hey,
I wanted to tell you congrats on passing the Minnesota bar! I am originally from Minnesota. My fiance took it last August and failed by 1.2 points! Anyways, he is orginally from Texas so we moved here now and he just found out he passed the bar here last week. I wanted to give you a huge congrats I can not believe you are pregnant and graduated law school and studied and passed the bar you are an amazing woman! Congrats!

Hey, your hubby is so sweet :) And yes, I am planning working until my water breaks. Everyone at my work is wonderful too. They are always asking if there's anything they can do for me. It's nice. I know what you mean about your job. Glad you have it, but being SO pregnant right now just a complete distraction. And I think I told you this. But when I was pregnant with my daughter, I was at work calling daycares to get on the waiting list or get information. I would just sit there and cry. It's heartbreaking, but they do fine. And yes, you do what you have to do. Arrgghh!!! And I remember being terrified of labor/delivery, but it's actually a rather calm experience (or at least it was for me). The nurses just let me labor in the room with my hubby. They checked on me every now and then. But no one freaked out, rushing around acting a fool. I don't know why I expected that anyway...kind of dumb. But once it was time to push, there was just one or two nurses in the room and my hubby. The doc came in after they starting seeing the head. It was just a normal, natural setting. I hope the same for this one since it will be a different hospital this time. My daughter was born in Charleston, SC. Well, I better get going. We have a Mother's Day luncheon to go to (my mom, myself and my 4 year old daughter). I am sure I will talk to you later since I am at my parent's and able to relax a little. Happy Mother's Day!!

newmamabear - Thursday, 8 May
hahaha...I had a friend comment on one of my u/s pics too, saying "What is THAT?" One of the younger viewers thougt it was a picture of a rabbit! :)

christelle - Thursday, 8 May
Hi! Just checking in to see how you're doing? I've got one more week left of work before maternity leave! Yay! (I think I saw you started a new job right? Sorry if i'm wrong. Will they pay you mat. leave??) The baby has the been most active ever in there today- and for the first time it kind of hurts! I know he doesn't have much room though so I think he's stretching or something- ow! Glad he's moving though, yesterday I guess he slept all day and I was getting worried! Have to keep telling him "Don't play with mommy's ribs now!"

jillb - Thursday, 8 May
You don't EVEN have to start explaining GRUMPY to me. I am right there with you. I have been that way the past week too. It's horrible. I just went ahead and told the people at work today, "I am just over being pregnant and was hoping to be a more graceful pregnant lady, but it's not working out for me. I wanted to reserve this whole conversation until about week 38 or 39, but I can't wait that long. I want you all to know I am offically over this!" Then I turned and walked away and they thought that was funny :) I know what you mean about the comments too. You are right, I am sure no one meant any harm by the comments but only you and your doctor can decide what you and YOUR body really need to do. And I am sure whatever happens will be the right way. I was thinking about you the other day and thinking the same thing you said...starting a new job and having a new baby is terrible timing, but oh well. It's all going to work out and your sweet little baby will be here SO soon. It's so hard to see out of this cloud right now, but it's VERY WORTH IT! I am sure you already know that. Nothing can top the moment you see your child for the first time. You're life will never be the same, and you are so thankful for that. Don't worry about being a downer. I have a feeling I am going to be a major downer from here until the end. I try to be positive (and it sounds like you do too). But truthfully right now, I do what I have to and take it one day at a time. ALMOST THERE!!! Keep those feet up and rest, rest, rest :)

KariLynn - Thursday, 8 May
Hey there. LOL about the registry! I do the same thing, though according to the registry no one has bought anything, but that doesn't mean anything. Just wish it did lol. Do you get hot a lot? I find that I get warm so easily! Especially now that its nicer outside I just get warmer. I know already I am greatful not to be pregnant in July and August!! I wish I had more time to write, but its almost time to go home and I can't wait to put my feet up!! Have a great night :)

jillb - Wednesday, 7 May
Oh, no, no, I understood exactly what you were saying :) I did see a lot of people post about you not needing to jump to conclusions on the C-section (or something like that). And I was thinking, "Well, she didn't say she WANTED one!" I know you would much rather have it vaginally. I hear ya on the C-section though, especially if there's a chance that you physically wouldn't be able to deliver vaginally. I wouldn't want to take any chances either. And about Alabama, the part I live in is beautiful. I am originally from Mississippi but lived in Charleston, SC for 4 years. I love Alabama more than both of those. It's so beautiful here and family oriented. Charleston didn't have that at all. I love the South, it's just too HOT sometimes. Well, I said I was going to bed, but I just can't seem to make it off the couch :) Okay, I think I will go now...

raynbowmami - Wednesday, 7 May
I just hope you get to deliver naturally. My neice had a 9lb baby. She delivered naturally. I couldn't believe it. For as big as I am down there the idea of having and even carrying that size baby wow. I give you credit. As much as I pout now, I couldn't take it.

The quarter ends on the 18th. I'm so happy. I don't go back until August. I am ready for a break. I have two quizzes, 2 finals and one paper and it's OVER!!! Well for the summer. I can focus on getting the house ready for little mama to get here.

I read that you started a new job. Congrats to you on that. But yes I am working until my water breaks. Good thing everyone at my job is real cool and they pretty much let me get away with anything. So I can take naps and come in a little late and leave a little early. They know how tired I am.

jillb - Wednesday, 7 May
Hey there, congrats on starting your new job! I saw your post on the main page, and I wanted to congratulate you. That's SO nice that you get 12 weeks after the baby is born, even though you just started. And yes, about the heat. Oh my gosh!! I live in Alabama (basically in Birmingham), and I think it was almost 85 here today. It's actually been pretty pleasant the last couple of weeks, but this week, HOTTER. I was outside talking to someone today in the hot parking lot, and my feet were just swelling as I stood there. Geesh! And don't worry, people say the same thing about me and my belly. They say I won't see week 40...gosh I am hoping they are right too. If I made it to 39, I would be happy with that. I didn't know they did amnio to check lung development. I can understand you being scared. I would want to deliver on my own too. But after reading all the posts of women who had large babies, I think I would try a vaginal birth. I think you will be fine. But I am sure they are going to check his/her weight again closer to time, and that will give everyone a better idea. My daughter was 7lb.11oz., and she was born 39w2d. I am definitely carrying more "out-front" with this one, so it just makes me a look SO much bigger. Who knows, he may actually be a lot bigger. Oh help me! :) I have everything ready, except maybe the crib mobile. Do you have one? I don't need it right away, but I definitely want to get one. Sorry to hear about your heartburn...I have had some but not too bad. I better go try to get some rest before another fun work day. I swear, every day I wake up, I tell myself, "I don't feel like working today." Then I just get up and get ready, and I am much better. I can't believe I have 27 work days left. I even subtracted Memorial Day. Counting the days makes it so much slower, but I just can't stop thinking about it. Well, g'night. Have a great day at work tomorrow. Take care :)

KariLynn - Tuesday, 6 May
Hey :) Its so hard to get prepared for the baby, I am finding that out more and more everyday. The shower for me is on Sunday, they are sending out invites and everything lol. Which I find very funny but a must considering all the men coming work together and you know how men can be. I don't want to be selfish, but I can't wait to see what I get get lol. Ok what the baby gets :) Thats crazy about your mil. Mine lives in Indiana and won't be here. Which I am bummed about, but Dan has a 13 year old son that will be here the weekend of the 17th of May and will stay for the summer. That I am so excited about, but really nervous. A 13 year old boy and an infant all a month apart. Talk about my world a changing! Are you getting nervous. I feel like when it comes to getting ready for the baby, I don't think we can ever be completely prepared, ya know! I have been soo soo busy at work today. I have been here for 4 1/2 hours already and really this is the first time I have had to sit down a second. Thats what I get for working at an rv dealership! It really helps the time fly by though! How is the new job??? Kind of an interesting time for a job change :) Well I have another customer, talk to you again soon :)

newmamabear - Tuesday, 6 May
What will your bedding look like? It is a good idea to wait til after the shower. We ALMOST bought the changing table we wante, figuring nobody would purchase anything hat big from our registry...but sure enough...we got it! It was just delivered to our home! So far the foil thing has been working with Gabriel (our cat). Now if only I could cover my laptop with foil....

mommi2b - Monday, 5 May
Same here - I just want her to get here safe and healthy! I can deal w/ whatever...HOPEFULLY! lol
Things are good - had my doc appt this morning and lil Maddy is doing great :) I go back in 2 weeks. I have my childbirth class this Saturday but I'm going to see if I can attend another one cuz my hubby' gonna be outta town this weekend and that's the one class (besides the tour next week) that I want him to come w/ me. Then I have my Infant Care class on Monday which I don't care if my hubby comes or not. Are you taking any classes?

laddgirl - Monday, 5 May
I pray all works out fine. WoW! 34 weeks already. How time seems to fly. I remember when we first met on the site in Nov sometime. I am soooo happy for you. Your little one will be here in no time. From what I read s/he will make a grand appearance into this world. I will keep you in my prayers. Soak those feet, rest your back, take it real easy, and most of all...be blessed.

mandalou81 - Sunday, 4 May
I'm soooo ready!! I spoke to one of my friends yesterday and her sister her baby.... 10.5 POUNDS!! My mouth dropped! I didn't think they even got that big!! I'm with you, I just want a healthy baby!!

raynbowmami - Sunday, 4 May
Wow my neice had a 9lb baby. I said she had a toddler. The girl is big and already trying to walk. She is 8 months old. She refuses to crawl. And not only that but she says words. WOW!!! And not only that, she didn't have Gestational diabetes and she had her naturally. Girl give me an even 7lbs and I'm happy. I do hope you will be ok with all that weight.

Oh school is great. I'm almost done for the summer. 2 more weeks and I'm free. I'm doing ok in my Econ class too. My religion class I expect an A. So I'm happy.

The baby is behaving. I guess lol. She has her moments. She was super quiet yesterday during the shower. Then at church this morning she was having a field day. She's funny.

newmamabear - Saturday, 3 May
At least you know your baby is healthy. I would LOVE another ultrasound. I can't wait to see her. Don't you feel like this is all happening so fast? It is really starting to hit me now that we can be mommies at the end of this month! I'm very excited and a little nervous too that I am forgetting something or haven't prepared enough!

KariLynn - Saturday, 3 May
Congratulations on being sworn in to the bar. That is so awesome. And yikes on the baby and their size lol. The c section will be nice though, cause you will know when to expect the little bundle of joy :) I don't know the size of the baby yet, and with so many other people knowing its kind of driving me crazy. Doc said at the next appt she will schedule my last u/s and check the babies position. Then I asked her how long she would let me go past 40 weeks, she said no longer than 42. So I decided to explain to her that my parents were going to be here only until the 18th or so, and my dd is the 12th. So she said that if she had to so could induce me as early as 39 weeks. I really don't want to be induced but really want my mom to be here during birth and a few days after. So its nice to know the situation though!! I am so excited for my baby shower! The lady that has already bought me tons of stuff is actually the one putting it on for me! She has done so much already, but feel so fortunate for her. Looks like it will be a beautiful day!! I just wish I didn't have to work. Good times. Well I should get back to work. I will talk to you soon!! I hope your baby doesn't decide to get too much bigger lol. :)

raynbowmami - Saturday, 3 May
Hey doll, how you holdin up?

mandalou81 - Saturday, 3 May
Because there were no immediate concerns with my ultrasound my next doctors appointment isn't until next week! I let you know what he says!! I'm so in two worlds atthe moment... I want him to be born so badly but I also want him to wait until he is full term... I guess there isn't really any point thinking about it though... he'll come when he's good and ready!! I bet the next 6 or so weeks are very exciting!! As far as baby prep is concerned I have everything all set up for now. We'll be sharing a room for the short term so the bassinette and everything is set up and ready, we also have everything we could possibly need as well as a good supply nappies and wipes and everything. I can't believe how soon it will be - even if I do go full term 6 weeks is not a very long amount of time!!

knockoutmom - Friday, 2 May
oh wow! 6.5 lbs! at least you know if she was born early she would be healthy. i was 10lb 4 oz when i was born and broke my collar bone coming out vaginally. there are definitely a lot of risks when they are that big. im trying to come to terms with the fact she could be born c section and i think im ok with it. the numb thing isnt gonna be too fun but if you think about it, it takes just a few minutes to get them out and after that all your thinking about is the baby. that sucks your husband got caught up! crazy kids. youll have the post the 4d pics! i had an u/s too, just a regular one, but she did it so quick that she would hardly let me see. she did tell me she had a cute little face though, so that made me smile. we're full term in 3 weeks! this month!! i cannot believe it! i have to take some belly pics and post them. its been a while!
