MAISIE PAULINE

Due Date: June 13th, 2008

Born: May 30th, 2008 at 6:34 am

Stats: 7 lbs, 4.9 oz -- 19 3/4 inches

She's a gorgeous girl with a little dark brown hair and blue eyes... she stole mommy and daddy's heart from the first moment we laid eyes on her!

ONE MONTH:

Whew! What a whirlwind month it's been! Maisie is a really good baby and we're so happy she's a part of our family. Dan and I have studied her from top to bottom and have concluded she's perfect. :) She seems to have mom's dark hair, eyes, and toes, and dad's mouth and temperament. Overall she looks a bit more like dad than like mom.

Maisie has pretty much smiled from day one. She's a very happy little baby who, like all newborns, likes to eat, sleep & cuddle with mom and dad! She loves bathtime. She often does the "Popeye-eye,"" which is when she opens one eye first when she wakes up. When she's hungry and I put her over my shoulder, she bobs her head back & forth, like a bird does when they're looking for food. It's so cute! Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the world, and I'm loving every moment of it!

TWO MONTHS:

Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen! At her two month checkup she weighed 10 lbs, 5 oz. It's funny because that's about the size they thought she would be when she was born... now she's just reaching that weight at 2 mos of age. It's amazing how wrong the ultrasound technicians were about her size. But since she was such a little peanut when she was born, she definitely looks like she's filling out a lot now. Her little face is a bit pudgier, and her arms and legs have a few little rolls on them. So cute! Her hair is getting just a bit thicker, and she still has beautiful blue eyes.

She's also been interacting with Dan and I more and more each day. She imitates our facial expressions. Dan sticks his tongue out at her and she does it back. I tend to smile at her with my mouth wide open and she smiles the same way back at me. She definitely knows who I am too. She follows me with her eyes when Dan is holding her and I am walking throughout the room. Melts my heart! She also turns her head toward my voice when I walk into a room.

I'm still breastfeeding and enjoying that, even though it is a bit time consuming. I have no idea how I'd do it if I had another child in the home. Speaking of which... I swear I'm already ready to start trying for #2! Dan isn't anywhere near that point, so we'll be probably waiting at least a year. Actually if Dan had his way, Maisie would be an only child. We'll see where life takes us!

Maisie at two months:

Maisie

THREE MONTHS:

Maisie turned three months on August 30th. I see why people say they grow up way too fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. But then I look at pictures of when she was firstborn, as compared to pictures of her now, and I just can't believe how much she is changing. She's still a very happy little girl, and a very calm baby, which we are so very thankful for!

She began reaching for toys and grabbing things several weeks ago. I took her to Iowa to meet her great-grandparents and she laid on their floor and suddenly reached over and grabbed a little toy. She'd been trying for a long time, but that was the first time she was successful. So cute! She loves to bury her little head into my chest when I hold her, which just melts my heart. She hasn't rolled over yet, but she's working on it like a mad woman. If she could just get the upper part of her body to communicate with the lower part, she'd be a rolling machine! :) She was twelve pounds, two ounces as of last week, so she seems to be growing really well.

I started back at work last week, which has been a tough adjustment, but we're getting through it. Maisie is still at home with Dan, so that has helped the transition. I still miss her like crazy when I'm at work, and I hardly put her down between the time I get home and the time she goes to bed! I just love her to pieces.

September 7, 2008 -- Yay for Maisie! I'm such a proud mama... Maisie rolled over for the first time this evening! I had brought her over to my grandmother's and she was laying on the floor, working so hard on rolling over, but she just couldn't figure out what to do with her shoulder. We put her back on the floor after we got home, and she worked and worked at it until finally... she did it! She looked so cute laying there, grunting and tensing her muscles... I am so proud of her!

September 11, 2008 -- Maisie laughed for the first time when I was blowing on her tummy! Sooo cute!

September 15th, 2008 -- Maisie started rolling from her back to her front last week, but today she kept on rolling, and rolled from her front to her back! My little girl is growing so quickly!

FOUR MONTHS:

It’s hard to believe my little girl is already four months old! Maisie continues to grow like a weed and amaze Dan & I every day. At her four month checkup she weighed 13 lbs, 13 oz and was almost 24 inches, which put her at about the 50% for height and weight. She started rolling over last month, and now she’s basically obsessed with being on her stomach. It’s made diaper changes a bit challenging! She’s still smiley as ever and giggles when we play with her. I just can’t wait to come home after work each day to see her. It melts my heart when she gives me that big gummy grin when I walk in the door. Now if only I could get that hair on her head to grow a little… I swear she had more hair on her head when she was born! She’s still adorable with her little cue-ball head. Life is good... J

Good luck! Let me know how it goes! :)

KariLynn - Tuesday, 29 April
Hello, lol about the snow. It really is the winter that will never end! We are supposed to have another front from Alaska the middle of the week, I hope the temp stays up and we just get some rain. But May as well bring in May with some snow lol. I did find out that I will get somewhat of a baby shower. The company my boyfriend works for the main bosses wife, who has bought me almost everything that I need, well she wants to have like a party-bbq for me with all the employees and spouses. I am so excited, but really don't like being the center of attention lol. But am really happy they are doing something for us. Its helps since I am so far from home. Just over 6 weeks to go..OMG!! So much to do lol. Well I should get back to work, are things going well for you? Are you doing better since the unfortunate day passed by?

Nursey - Monday, 28 April
I don't mean to make you nervous...every baby is different! But I was totally unprepared as to do with a newborn baby that wouldn't sleep! We don't have any family with babies, so we just had to roll with it! I thought that my job would prepare me for the sleep deprivation......wow....was I ever underestimating that! But like I said, every baby is different.....my friend's baby slept +++ and always has. Don't worry about it until it comes, love!

sophiesoph - Monday, 28 April
Oh, wow! Congratulations on the new job!! That's amazing. Sounds like a pretty great gig. It's so rare to find an employer willing to take on a seriously pregnant woman. Have you started yet? I'm still pretty much paranoid about the cord around the neck. I broke out my fetal doppler all weekend each time it had been a couple of hours since I felt the baby move. I hate feeling so afraid. You're totally right though, how the heck am I supposed to know what all this is supposed to feel like? One of the things my doc told me to be on the lookout for is increased fetal movement (as well as decreased). I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with that info. Each time the baby moves a lot I think, is this it? So frustrating. My husband is really worried too. This morning I woke up to him touching my belly to see if he could feel the baby moving. It actually melted my heart but I wish he were doing that out of happiness & excitement instead of checking to see if all is well in there. Ugh. I have an appt with my regular doc on Thursday so I will be grilling her on all this. I just wish I could fast forward a few weeks. I'm still working and plan to for about another month I think. I may be able to swing it so I can do some work from home. I would gladly take that over having to do this brutal hour long commute to & from downtown L.A. every day. How are you feeling? Have you had your shower yet? Your appt to check on your little one is this week, right?

jzwillis - Monday, 28 April
Thanks for the advice

My baby shower, at work, is Tuesday, and I can't wait. I, especially, can't wait after this scare today. I was just thinking this morning, "what if I am going into labor?" I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING READY! I wasn't planning on packing my bag until at least 36 weeks (since my daughter was born at 39w2d. I am thinking, "I have plenty of time." And I may, but you just never know. You are right about the gifts though. People should be grateful for everything, even if it wasn't on the registry. You never know when you might need something that wasn't on the registry. Your u/s is coming up, and I am hoping you just have a lot of fluid too. I am sure that's what it is. I will say a prayer :) And about the twins comments, 4 PEOPLE!! They need something else to do. Even if you think someone is having twins, you don't say that. Geesh!! Well, I am going to get ready for the grocery shopping trip. I will pray for no more spotting. Have a great and restful Sunday! Bye for now :)

Hey to you too! Yes, I know what you mean about the "old blood." I had that too earlier in pregnancy, but you know women like us (previous miscarriage) freak out when we see something like this. I want to call them, but I really don't want to have to pay the emergency room co-pay (if I don't have to). If I really felt like we were in danger, I would call (who am I to know for sure though). But I am not even spotting right now. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS TO ME ON A WEEKEND!!! I am going to give it a couple more hours and see. We are going grocery shopping in a bit, so that will be the true test, being on my feet. Since my daughter has been at my parents all weekend, I have slept and rested A LOT! So, I haven't been over-doing it. I will keep you posted :) Thanks for the reply...hope you are doing well.

angel435 - Saturday, 26 April
I have done the same with the onesies I figured it could hurt just to wash all them up. My problem is that most of the outfits that I have where gifts and I don't have the receipts or even know where what stores they came from. So I guess I may as well go ahead and wash them all. It just seems like such a waste if she is to big for them! The doctor seems to think even though I passed my 3 hr test my body is not breaking down the sugars like it should and going straight to the baby. I wonder if its possible they could have my due date wrong. Well I hope everything is going good for you. Let me know what you find out with your u/s.

copmom2b - Saturday, 26 April
Congratulations!!!!! You are definitely blessed! I'm always so nervous about being pre judged b/c I'm pregnant, married or not!. You are so blessed to have found such a great job so early on. And good for your hubby for taking paternity leave! That's so great. My hubby would LOVE to do something like that, but he's an I.T. consultant so when he doesn't work he doesn't get paid so he can take a week off, but nothing more than that, so good for your hubby. That will be really nice bonding time with him and the baby. My husband is so afraid of getting lost in the sauce and not bonding b/c he doesn't have that time with the baby so the night time feeding (before bedtime of course) and story and P.J. time will be his time alone with the baby. Hopefully when the baby gets here all that will fall into place!!!!

KariLynn - Saturday, 26 April
hello :) I understand not wanting to respond, I find that I just don't always have the time to top it off. I am glad your hand is better, but don't think the store has any type of idea how much trouble they could have gotten in if somone really wanted to be a crank about it. I hear you have had some nice weather your way. I am so jealous. I am so sick of winter, it seems to snow every other day around here lately. I have so much to do, so much laundry to catch up on plus all the babys stuff. My goal is to have pretty much everything done by the 36th week. Are you getting closer? Well I should get going. I will talk to you soon :)

mommi2b - Friday, 25 April
That's awesome you get another u/s! I wish I was getting one. I have to ask my doc next appt when I'll get another one - or if I even do. I think I'm gonna schedule one of those 3D/4D ultrasounds for sometime in May. That way we can see our lil one again - - and this time in 3D! I wonder who she looks like more, me or my hubby. My hubby thinks the 3D/4D u/s's are really freaky, but I wanna see her!
Let me know after you have your u/s! When is it next week?

laddgirl - Friday, 25 April
I was just stopping in to say hello and see how you were doing. I hope you're feeling good. Take it easy.

heather7399 - Friday, 25 April
Hello yes it been great! i can't belive only 7 weeks left! I can't wait to see our new little man.

sophiesoph - Friday, 25 April
Good to hear you're doing well. Maybe your little one will make an early appearance if s/he is on the bigger side? That would be so great. I'm so ready to have a hopefully healthy baby in my arms and to be done with this pregnancy. I had an u/s yesterday with my perinatologist and he told me that the cord is wrapped around my baby's neck twice. I'm beyond freaked out right now. He told me to not be too active and to monitor movement more closely and if I notice any decrease or increase (like the baby is struggling) to go straight to l&d. I've just got all the worst case scenarios running through my mind. I just want a healthy baby (like we all do) and I feel like at each appt I'm given bad news. Ugh. I feel so down. Sorry to dump that on you. Let me know how your appt goes next week if you get a chance. Take care!

wowwowmomma - Friday, 25 April

jillb - Friday, 25 April
Okay, I shouldn't have bragged about wearing heels because now my feet are even more puffy and my right ankle was so swollen when I got home today. And I am not on my feet every second of the day. I am on my feet a lot, but I have an office type job. I am actually sitting here with mine propped up on the couch hoping the swelling subsides by morning. Thankfully, tomorrow is casual Friday, so I am wearing flip flops :)
Yes, that's a nice surprise that you get another u/s. I am kind of jealous, but I will die if they tell me I am having a 10lb. baby. Oh my!! They could just go ahead and schedule a c-section. Yikes!! Good luck with your u/s. I hope he/she had just hit a growth spurt when they measured last time. Let me know what they find out.
And about the baby showers. It IS annoying when people don't buy off the registry, but I am thankful for everything I have gotten. I sat here and wrote out about 45 thank you notes last night from my previous shower. So, I am blessed to have people who are so generous. You are right, there are so many people who aren't fortunate enough to get a shower. I think everyone should be grateful for anything they are given. It's one less thing they have to buy.
I hope your hubby is feeling better. Food poisoning, believe it or not, has been very common here in the last couple of weeks. Weird!! Does he have a cold or "pukies"? Either way, try to take care of him :)
I meant to tell you that I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage (in August). I read your post the other day and meant to message you about that. I also had a miscarriage August 7th, so I know how you feel. My due date was March 1. I had to have a D&C, and I was not at all prepared for it, emotionally. It was the nearly the hardest thing I have been through. I am tearing up now just thinking about my little angel...wondering what he/she would have been like. The hardest part was my daughter (at the time she was 3) knowing she had a little brother/sister on the way, then having to tell her that God had to bring it to Heaven with Him because it was sick. Oh my gosh, that was so horrible! So, I just wanted to tell you that I went through that about the same time you did. We must be fertile myrtles to have both gotten pregnant again in October.
Well, it's late, and I am tired!!! My daughter is with my parents for the weekend, so it's time to rest. Have a great weekend if I don't talk to you again. G'night and take care of yourself and hubby :)

copmom2b - Friday, 25 April
Hey there, I saw that you passed the bar!!!! Congratulations mplsmama Esq!!!!!

Nicole2216 - Friday, 25 April
Thank you so much! Its so wonderful to have people respond back to you. It seems like sometimes people just want to respond if someone loses their baby or something horrible! I just needed a little advice. I get jealous when i see some of these women talk about how much they feel their baby all the time.. of course they are the SKINNIEST things in the world or whatever.. I just get nervous because this is my first pregnancy. And boy i have been through so much!

christelle - Wednesday, 23 April
I was so sorry to read your comment on week 32. I think it's nice of you to remember that baby. I hope with time, that will get easier. In my case, I think I believe that the first little has come back as your second little that is in you now. That makes more sense to me.

Missourifolk - Wednesday, 23 April
HeyI went through the same thing....I had a miscarriage last summer and my due date was Jan. 9th. Knowing this little babe in my tummy would have never had life if my first little one did....made me see things in a better perspective and am just so incredibly thankful for the one to come! Blessings to you on this day! Rejoice in the new babe to come!

Nursey - Tuesday, 22 April
You've been called to The Bar - Congratulations!!!
That's great that you are able to stay at home with baby (well, between the two of you!) for 6 months! I can't imagine going back to work 6 weeks after having my baby! With my first baby, it wouldn't have been safe for me to do so....I didn't get any rest day/night! In a 24 hour period, I was lucky if my son slept 8 hours Total! He'd usually nap for 30 min to 1 hour, then be up for another few hours. He just was not a sleeper. Man, it was hard! But now, he sleeps well (he's 18 months). Well, here we go again!
As for this pregnancy, I have a lot of back pain - mainly sciatica. My job doesn't help the pain, either (on my feet for 13 hours). But my last shift will be May 17 - not too far to go! I'm also getting up a lot at night to pee - yay 3rd trimester!! It doesn't matter how little I drink in the evening before bed, I'm going constantly!!! Very hard to get rest!
Well take care....glad that other than a little feet swelling, things are good! xx Nursey

pregnantwithmythird08 - Tuesday, 22 April
Thank you :)

sophiesoph - Monday, 21 April
Oh wow!!! Congratulations!!! You must be on cloud 9. I haven't been on this site for a couple of weeks and just logged on and saw your news. That is just wonderful! One less thing to worry about. How have you been feeling? I've been a little down the last couple of weeks but I'm starting to feel better. I found out I have gestational diabetes - that was a blow but I've been to several appointments learning about how to control it and that seems to have helped my mood. Other than that we've been getting the baby's room ready, going to birthing classes, and getting mentally prepared. Hope you've been well!
