I figure now that I'm almost in the 2nd trimester, I should actually put something on this page! My husband and I are expecting our 1st child June 13th 2008 and we are very excited. We decided to get advanced degrees before we started our family, so I'm very thankful that it was able to work out that way. I will be done with school in February. I'm appreciative of this website and the opportunity to 'chat' with other women who are also expecting.

Above is a picture of me, my husband and our current "baby," Theo the cat. We hope he won't be too jealous of the new arrival in June!

Monday, 3 Dec
I feel like I should clarify my above entry... I said I'm pregnant with my 1st child, but I really meant I don't have any living children yet. I did have a miscarriage earlier this year. So really this is my 2nd pregnancy. I felt the need to clarify, because when I re-read my entry, I felt that I was being disrespectful to the child I lost. It was a very painful experience to go through, but somehow I've made it through. It helped that I was able to get pregnant again right away.
I'm feeling pretty good these days, nausea is pretty much gone, although I'm still pretty tired. I think part of it is just being emotionally drained from thinking of the exciting changes that are ahead!
I've managed to stay out of maternity clothes so far, but I don't know much longer that'll last. I feel like my tummy is sticking out more than usual. I've also tried to hold off on buying baby clothes, but I think I'll be breaking down soon!
Best of luck to everyone!

Had my 14 week appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat again! S/he apparently likes to lay on my right side, since that past 3 times that's where they've found the heartbeat. I'm feeling really great these days, just waiting for my belly to 'pop' one of these days!
Now that I'm done with finals I have told most of my friends our big news, but I still haven't told my work. I'll probably break down and tell them soon. For some reason I'm finding it hard to picture walking around and telling all of my co-workers that I'm pregnant. Not quite sure why, since I've loved being able to tell everyone else.

We had our level 2 ultrasound today and were so relieved to hear the doctor say that everything looked just great! There wasn `t a single sign of any type of birth defect or anything else concerning. We were so relieved. I drank a bit of coffee before I went, and the baby was moving around like crazy! S/he would kick at the ultrasound wand when the tech would dig it into my abdomen. As my husband said, it looks like s/he is already a bit feisty, just like mom! :) We were just so relieved to see that everything went well. In fact, they actually decreased my odds of having a baby with downs or other abnormalities because everything looked so good. I also found out that I `m probably not feeling much movement yet because the placenta is directly in front of my belly button, so it `s covering the area where I `d feel the kicks. I `m also measuring at about 20 wks, 2 days, but they `ll still keep my due date the same for now. Now I just can `t wait to meet him/her!

Thursday, 21 Feb
Had my appointment today & was pleased to hear that everything seems to be going well. Heartbeat was 16O, which is the highest it `s ever been! My dr also commented that `he ` is very active... we were not trying to find out the gender, but everyone keeps saying he! I had my ultrasound done at a different place, and they said they don `t include the gender on the info they send my dr, so I have no idea if that was just a `guess ` on her part, or a `slip. ` Oh well, we `ll find out for sure in June! The only concerning thing for me is that I `ve gained 2O lbs. I think it really is mostly in my belly, but it `s pretty hard to hear that I `ve gained that much, and I `m not even 2/3 of the way done! Oh well, all for a good cause!

Thursday, 28 Feb
Well, I just spent the last 2 days taking the bar exam and I `m soooo happy it `s over! Taking the bar isn `t a treat regardless of the circumstances, but it was especially challenging being 24 wks pregnant. S/he was kicking me all throughout the exam which was just making me giggle. Of course I hope I passed, but more importantly I `m just happy to be done and able to finally focus on `baby-stuff. `

Monday, 10 Mar
Our good friends gave us their crib and changing table last night, and we set it up in the nursery. It really made everything feel so real - I found myself thinking that I couldn `t believe there `s going to be a baby in there in a few short months! It `s very exciting. Some other friends brought over some toys and other supplies, so I feel very lucky to have so many friends who are helping us out.I `m feeling pretty good these days, though sleeping is getting a bit more challenging. I `m feeling kicks pretty consistently, but I do still feel them more strongly some days than others. I look forward to feeling them on a regular basis.

Friday, 21 Mar

Passed my GD test today - thank goodness! I was really nervous for it, mainly because I feel like all I eat these days is sweets. The funny part is that s/he is literally laying sideways! No wonder my belly is oval-shaped. The doctor thinks the pressure I `ve been feeling under my left ribs is its little butt! It `s laying kind of bent over. They said there is plenty of time for it to turn so it `s not concerning at all. I have a feeling we `re in for quite a ride once s/he arrives... s/he is already marching to the beat of his/her own drum!

We had an appt today to find out why my fundal height was measuring so far ahead. I had an u/s first, and couldn't believe that my husband wasn't there by the time they called my name. I was starting to get worried because it's not like him to miss an appt. He's a teacher, and it turns out he had a big fight break out in his room just as he was about to leave for the appt, and he had to stay & suspend a few kids. He missed the whole u/s. He felt horrible too. I think the tech felt bad that he couldn't be there, so she threw in a few 4D pics of the baby's face. It just melted my heart! S/he is soooo cute already! S/he has chubby little cheeks, and the tech said s/he already has some hair! It's just amazing what they can see.

Then we met with the dr. She confirmed that the baby is very large, and she estimates it's about 6.5 lbs at this point. Yikes! If I went full-term, it'd probably be minimally 9.5 lbs. Depending on how much longer s/he stays in there, I may need a c-section. At first I was terrified at the idea, but then my dr explained some of the risks associated with vaginal birth with a baby that large, and I decided I'm just fine with the c-section! Nothing is set in stone yet, so we'll see what happens. I'll do anything to make sure s/he arrives here happy and healthy!

What will your bedding look like? It is a good idea to wait til after the shower. We ALMOST bought the changing table we wante, figuring nobody would purchase anything hat big from our registry...but sure enough...we got it! It was just delivered to our home! So far the foil thing has been working with Gabriel (our cat). Now if only I could cover my laptop with foil....

mommi2b - Monday, 5 May
Same here - I just want her to get here safe and healthy! I can deal w/ whatever...HOPEFULLY! lol
Things are good - had my doc appt this morning and lil Maddy is doing great :) I go back in 2 weeks. I have my childbirth class this Saturday but I'm going to see if I can attend another one cuz my hubby' gonna be outta town this weekend and that's the one class (besides the tour next week) that I want him to come w/ me. Then I have my Infant Care class on Monday which I don't care if my hubby comes or not. Are you taking any classes?

laddgirl - Monday, 5 May
I pray all works out fine. WoW! 34 weeks already. How time seems to fly. I remember when we first met on the site in Nov sometime. I am soooo happy for you. Your little one will be here in no time. From what I read s/he will make a grand appearance into this world. I will keep you in my prayers. Soak those feet, rest your back, take it real easy, and most of all...be blessed.

mandalou81 - Sunday, 4 May
I'm soooo ready!! I spoke to one of my friends yesterday and her sister her baby.... 10.5 POUNDS!! My mouth dropped! I didn't think they even got that big!! I'm with you, I just want a healthy baby!!

raynbowmami - Sunday, 4 May
Wow my neice had a 9lb baby. I said she had a toddler. The girl is big and already trying to walk. She is 8 months old. She refuses to crawl. And not only that but she says words. WOW!!! And not only that, she didn't have Gestational diabetes and she had her naturally. Girl give me an even 7lbs and I'm happy. I do hope you will be ok with all that weight.

Oh school is great. I'm almost done for the summer. 2 more weeks and I'm free. I'm doing ok in my Econ class too. My religion class I expect an A. So I'm happy.

The baby is behaving. I guess lol. She has her moments. She was super quiet yesterday during the shower. Then at church this morning she was having a field day. She's funny.

newmamabear - Saturday, 3 May
At least you know your baby is healthy. I would LOVE another ultrasound. I can't wait to see her. Don't you feel like this is all happening so fast? It is really starting to hit me now that we can be mommies at the end of this month! I'm very excited and a little nervous too that I am forgetting something or haven't prepared enough!

KariLynn - Saturday, 3 May
Congratulations on being sworn in to the bar. That is so awesome. And yikes on the baby and their size lol. The c section will be nice though, cause you will know when to expect the little bundle of joy :) I don't know the size of the baby yet, and with so many other people knowing its kind of driving me crazy. Doc said at the next appt she will schedule my last u/s and check the babies position. Then I asked her how long she would let me go past 40 weeks, she said no longer than 42. So I decided to explain to her that my parents were going to be here only until the 18th or so, and my dd is the 12th. So she said that if she had to so could induce me as early as 39 weeks. I really don't want to be induced but really want my mom to be here during birth and a few days after. So its nice to know the situation though!! I am so excited for my baby shower! The lady that has already bought me tons of stuff is actually the one putting it on for me! She has done so much already, but feel so fortunate for her. Looks like it will be a beautiful day!! I just wish I didn't have to work. Good times. Well I should get back to work. I will talk to you soon!! I hope your baby doesn't decide to get too much bigger lol. :)

raynbowmami - Saturday, 3 May
Hey doll, how you holdin up?

mandalou81 - Saturday, 3 May
Because there were no immediate concerns with my ultrasound my next doctors appointment isn't until next week! I let you know what he says!! I'm so in two worlds atthe moment... I want him to be born so badly but I also want him to wait until he is full term... I guess there isn't really any point thinking about it though... he'll come when he's good and ready!! I bet the next 6 or so weeks are very exciting!! As far as baby prep is concerned I have everything all set up for now. We'll be sharing a room for the short term so the bassinette and everything is set up and ready, we also have everything we could possibly need as well as a good supply nappies and wipes and everything. I can't believe how soon it will be - even if I do go full term 6 weeks is not a very long amount of time!!

knockoutmom - Friday, 2 May
oh wow! 6.5 lbs! at least you know if she was born early she would be healthy. i was 10lb 4 oz when i was born and broke my collar bone coming out vaginally. there are definitely a lot of risks when they are that big. im trying to come to terms with the fact she could be born c section and i think im ok with it. the numb thing isnt gonna be too fun but if you think about it, it takes just a few minutes to get them out and after that all your thinking about is the baby. that sucks your husband got caught up! crazy kids. youll have the post the 4d pics! i had an u/s too, just a regular one, but she did it so quick that she would hardly let me see. she did tell me she had a cute little face though, so that made me smile. we're full term in 3 weeks! this month!! i cannot believe it! i have to take some belly pics and post them. its been a while!

newmamabear - Friday, 2 May
Aww... your baby has hair already! That is so amazing to me. I wish I could get some pics of mine. As for the weight, I didn't really think 9lbs was thay big. I've known of petite women who have given birth to babies that size. My best friend Michelle is 5 feet like me and her daughter was over 9lbs. Of course her husband is HUGE. But do whatever you feel most comfortable with! Either way...your little one is coming soon! :)

jillb - Friday, 2 May
Hey there lady!! I signed on just to see what you found out. I am VERY happy to hear the u/s went well. I know you weren't sure what to expect, so I guess it's nice to hear your buddha baby is quite healthy :) And I do understand how you would feel about having a large baby vaginally (not a pleasant thought). But also not wanting a C-section. But I am with you, if they told me I was having a large baby and I didn't know how much larger he/she was going to get, I would settle for a C-section any day!! Yes, my spotting has stopped. It actually didn't continue past Sunday (and that's when it started). The doc said on Monday that she did see the spotting, when she checked me, but not to worry. And look at you!! $180 gift card. I am SO jealous!! I don't even need that much to finish me up. But I am lucky to have enough Wal-Mart gift cards to get me through. I think I can get most everything else I need from there. I had a VERY pregnant day...just swollen feeling, tight fingers and puffy feet and did I mention HOT!! I can't get cool no matter what! Ugh!! I am sitting here watching "The Office." It's hilarious, and I needed this today! Well, I better get off here and get some rest. I am SO glad to hear that you are well and your bean is tucked away and healthy. Keep me updated :)

mommi2b - Friday, 2 May
I'm sorry, but it's better baby's a little too big than not big enough, ya know? Cuz if he or she was too small then that could cause all kinds of problems w/ the baby after birth. Know what I mean? I would definitely have the c-section too. In fact, I think I would rather have a c-section that vaginal birth anyways! :)

mandalou81 - Friday, 2 May
HI there! My doctor did ring me to say that there were no immediate signs of concern with my ultrasound so I will have to wait until my next appointment to discuss it with him more. I am actually a little apprehansive in asking him about the size... do I really want to know?? What if he says he's big but still wants me to give birth naturally??? I want a natural birth as opposed to a c - section... but what if he is big?? It might just be better to be a bit in the dark really! Did they measure your baby in terms of weeks?? The ultrasound technician didn't discuss it with me so I don't know if what I saw was correct but I'm pretty sure the head was 37weeks... his belly might have been 35weeks and the femur was maybe 34weeks... like I said I may have seen the wrong thing and will have to wait to ask the doc but it would be good to have an idea so I can compare with your little one!! Like you I just want my bub safe and healthy in my arms! However he gets here it wont matter long term as long as he's safe and well!! Are you starting to get nervous though??? How are all your baby preparations going??

jillb - Thursday, 1 May
Good luck tomorrow. I will be thinking of you. Message me when you find out what's going on. G'night!

denee85 - Thursday, 1 May
I feel better now that I've eaten nothing but toast and dry cereal for the last couple of days!
At least this is going away-when I had Morning sickness I had it day and night for about 4 weeks-ugh..Of course this pregnancy was tons better as far as MS-with baby #1 I had it super bad for the first 20 weeks and I had to have IV's a few times to re-hydrate me..So,yeah,having the flu can seem a little less awful since it only lasts a couple of days..But still having to take care of another little one on top of being pregnant it can deffinently wear you down fast!!Thanks for your comment:)

knockoutmom - Thursday, 1 May
ughhh so guess what? i had my checkup today and they found that my little girl is breech!! im so nervous now that im gonna have to have a c section! im freaking out! i cannot lay on a table numbed up and not have a HUGE panic attack. i just cant. if they knocked me out then thats different, but they dont do that. they said at next visit if she hasnt flipped then theyll discuss my options with me which are c section or something called a version where they manually turn the baby. i dont trust that though. im trying my hardest to look at c sections in a good light. i would be able to have her within a few minutes which is nice. but recovery sucks! im sooo nervous!! let me know how your u/s goes tomorrow.

mommyblessings - Thursday, 1 May
Hello! Just wanted to say hi & say how excited I am for you guys!
I will be 38 years old in June & I am due June 23rd with our 2nd son.
We also have a son who turned 9 this month.
We had to wait 5 long years to get the go ahead to try for another child due to my arthritis and some other health conditions, but I am doing really well! :) Just very ready to have him. I am very uncomfortable now & the heartburn is killing me!
Just wanted to say congratulations to you both!
Blessings

mandalou81 - Tuesday, 29 April
Thanks for your message. I'm trying not to worry... I am however finding myself constantly thinking about it!! I'm going in circles with my own theories and driving myself crazy! It's even strange because the reality of it is that it would be silly to worry about him being big cause it's not even something that I can control... if he's big he's big... I just hope he's healthy!! And anyway I was just talking to my sister and her friend was even enduced last year because they told her that her baby was too big and he turned out to only be 6pounds!! Fingers crossed for us all over the next few weeks!!

mommi2b - Tuesday, 29 April
Good luck! Let me know how it goes! :)

KariLynn - Tuesday, 29 April
Hello, lol about the snow. It really is the winter that will never end! We are supposed to have another front from Alaska the middle of the week, I hope the temp stays up and we just get some rain. But May as well bring in May with some snow lol. I did find out that I will get somewhat of a baby shower. The company my boyfriend works for the main bosses wife, who has bought me almost everything that I need, well she wants to have like a party-bbq for me with all the employees and spouses. I am so excited, but really don't like being the center of attention lol. But am really happy they are doing something for us. Its helps since I am so far from home. Just over 6 weeks to go..OMG!! So much to do lol. Well I should get back to work, are things going well for you? Are you doing better since the unfortunate day passed by?

Nursey - Monday, 28 April
I don't mean to make you nervous...every baby is different! But I was totally unprepared as to do with a newborn baby that wouldn't sleep! We don't have any family with babies, so we just had to roll with it! I thought that my job would prepare me for the sleep deprivation......wow....was I ever underestimating that! But like I said, every baby is different.....my friend's baby slept +++ and always has. Don't worry about it until it comes, love!

sophiesoph - Monday, 28 April
Oh, wow! Congratulations on the new job!! That's amazing. Sounds like a pretty great gig. It's so rare to find an employer willing to take on a seriously pregnant woman. Have you started yet? I'm still pretty much paranoid about the cord around the neck. I broke out my fetal doppler all weekend each time it had been a couple of hours since I felt the baby move. I hate feeling so afraid. You're totally right though, how the heck am I supposed to know what all this is supposed to feel like? One of the things my doc told me to be on the lookout for is increased fetal movement (as well as decreased). I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with that info. Each time the baby moves a lot I think, is this it? So frustrating. My husband is really worried too. This morning I woke up to him touching my belly to see if he could feel the baby moving. It actually melted my heart but I wish he were doing that out of happiness & excitement instead of checking to see if all is well in there. Ugh. I have an appt with my regular doc on Thursday so I will be grilling her on all this. I just wish I could fast forward a few weeks. I'm still working and plan to for about another month I think. I may be able to swing it so I can do some work from home. I would gladly take that over having to do this brutal hour long commute to & from downtown L.A. every day. How are you feeling? Have you had your shower yet? Your appt to check on your little one is this week, right?
