MAISIE PAULINE

Due Date: June 13th, 2008

Born: May 30th, 2008 at 6:34 am

Stats: 7 lbs, 4.9 oz -- 19 3/4 inches

She's a gorgeous girl with a little dark brown hair and blue eyes... she stole mommy and daddy's heart from the first moment we laid eyes on her!

ONE MONTH:

Whew! What a whirlwind month it's been! Maisie is a really good baby and we're so happy she's a part of our family. Dan and I have studied her from top to bottom and have concluded she's perfect. :) She seems to have mom's dark hair, eyes, and toes, and dad's mouth and temperament. Overall she looks a bit more like dad than like mom.

Maisie has pretty much smiled from day one. She's a very happy little baby who, like all newborns, likes to eat, sleep & cuddle with mom and dad! She loves bathtime. She often does the "Popeye-eye,"" which is when she opens one eye first when she wakes up. When she's hungry and I put her over my shoulder, she bobs her head back & forth, like a bird does when they're looking for food. It's so cute! Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the world, and I'm loving every moment of it!

TWO MONTHS:

Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen! At her two month checkup she weighed 10 lbs, 5 oz. It's funny because that's about the size they thought she would be when she was born... now she's just reaching that weight at 2 mos of age. It's amazing how wrong the ultrasound technicians were about her size. But since she was such a little peanut when she was born, she definitely looks like she's filling out a lot now. Her little face is a bit pudgier, and her arms and legs have a few little rolls on them. So cute! Her hair is getting just a bit thicker, and she still has beautiful blue eyes.

She's also been interacting with Dan and I more and more each day. She imitates our facial expressions. Dan sticks his tongue out at her and she does it back. I tend to smile at her with my mouth wide open and she smiles the same way back at me. She definitely knows who I am too. She follows me with her eyes when Dan is holding her and I am walking throughout the room. Melts my heart! She also turns her head toward my voice when I walk into a room.

I'm still breastfeeding and enjoying that, even though it is a bit time consuming. I have no idea how I'd do it if I had another child in the home. Speaking of which... I swear I'm already ready to start trying for #2! Dan isn't anywhere near that point, so we'll be probably waiting at least a year. Actually if Dan had his way, Maisie would be an only child. We'll see where life takes us!

Maisie at two months:

Maisie

THREE MONTHS:

Maisie turned three months on August 30th. I see why people say they grow up way too fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. But then I look at pictures of when she was firstborn, as compared to pictures of her now, and I just can't believe how much she is changing. She's still a very happy little girl, and a very calm baby, which we are so very thankful for!

She began reaching for toys and grabbing things several weeks ago. I took her to Iowa to meet her great-grandparents and she laid on their floor and suddenly reached over and grabbed a little toy. She'd been trying for a long time, but that was the first time she was successful. So cute! She loves to bury her little head into my chest when I hold her, which just melts my heart. She hasn't rolled over yet, but she's working on it like a mad woman. If she could just get the upper part of her body to communicate with the lower part, she'd be a rolling machine! :) She was twelve pounds, two ounces as of last week, so she seems to be growing really well.

I started back at work last week, which has been a tough adjustment, but we're getting through it. Maisie is still at home with Dan, so that has helped the transition. I still miss her like crazy when I'm at work, and I hardly put her down between the time I get home and the time she goes to bed! I just love her to pieces.

September 7, 2008 -- Yay for Maisie! I'm such a proud mama... Maisie rolled over for the first time this evening! I had brought her over to my grandmother's and she was laying on the floor, working so hard on rolling over, but she just couldn't figure out what to do with her shoulder. We put her back on the floor after we got home, and she worked and worked at it until finally... she did it! She looked so cute laying there, grunting and tensing her muscles... I am so proud of her!

September 11, 2008 -- Maisie laughed for the first time when I was blowing on her tummy! Sooo cute!

September 15th, 2008 -- Maisie started rolling from her back to her front last week, but today she kept on rolling, and rolled from her front to her back! My little girl is growing so quickly!

FOUR MONTHS:

It’s hard to believe my little girl is already four months old! Maisie continues to grow like a weed and amaze Dan & I every day. At her four month checkup she weighed 13 lbs, 13 oz and was almost 24 inches, which put her at about the 50% for height and weight. She started rolling over last month, and now she’s basically obsessed with being on her stomach. It’s made diaper changes a bit challenging! She’s still smiley as ever and giggles when we play with her. I just can’t wait to come home after work each day to see her. It melts my heart when she gives me that big gummy grin when I walk in the door. Now if only I could get that hair on her head to grow a little… I swear she had more hair on her head when she was born! She’s still adorable with her little cue-ball head. Life is good... J

FIVE MONTHS:
Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen. She's a really happy little baby who just goes with the flow. We did our first overnight trip with her a few weeks ago, and she did just great. Hardly made a peep as we toted her around from place to place. She's finally consistently sleeping about 11-12 hours at night, which has made me very happy! She's rolling both directions, and is really good at grabbing things... and of course putting them straight in her mouth once she gets them into her hands.
I'm actually still breastfeeding, though we've had to introduce formula due to my milk supply decreasing since I've been back at work. I think I'm finally burning out on pumping during the day, and will likely just start breastfeeding her in the morning and evening.
Maisie was a flower for Halloween. Truth be told, she wasn't too excited about having a flower hat on her head. But she was a good sport about it anyway, and let Dan & I take her around trick-or-treating. She fell asleep in my arms before I could even get her costume off. Too cute...

November 9th, 2008 - I felt Maisie's first tooth popping through! She's been drooling a lot, but other than that I wouldn't have even known she was teething. She hasn't been any more fussy than usual, or anything like that.
See Maisie in action!

awww look at you! you look GREAT! hah, it makes me think back to when you and i would comment eachother complaining about not showing. look at us now!

knockoutmom - Monday, 14 April
the feeling of walking into the nursery and actually seeing it come together really is great! it definitly makes it real. my shower was amazing! i hardly got any clothes, too which was a surprise to me. im having another shower on the 26th with friends so im sure ill get clothes at that one. i think all we need now is a swing, dresser, another car seat, an activity mat for play and tummy time, and a few other things. not much at all left! we have this kids consignment store here called once upon a child and it has some really gently used baby items for a fraction of the price. its insane how cheap these things are and how the condition is like new! i hate to buy hand me downs with my first one but these baby things can really add up if you think about it! have you had a baby shower yet? i think i remember you saying you did, im not sure though.

copmom2b - Monday, 14 April
My bed rest is almost over thank goodness! I feel good, my contractions feel like that have stopped which is very good news. Although I did have a nephew born at 30 weeks and he is 18 months now and completely caught up developmentally so that was a comforting thought, but thankfully that isn't a concern right now. As far as your fetal movement goes, I know how concering that can be. My doctor said that I need 3 movements per hour and I'm good, I've read diffrent things that say 10 so I try to find a middle ground there. I think most movment has to do with perception. I don't think we preceive the movement as we should in the middle of our busy lives, but it's usually there. Hopefully your little one is punching and kicking the day lights out of you now to put your mind at ease!!! You don't know what you're having right? Any pressure to find out?

preciousangels2 - Sunday, 13 April
Thanks! With my first son I had gone to L&D to be monitored due to lack of movement and everything turned out to be fine. I've actually been laying down most of the day and have hardly felt him move at all. Maybe 3 times... I wasn't really so worried about that as I was the cramping and severe lower back pain I was having. It was like I almost couldn't move. I decided to eat a little something and when I was finished, I had a contraction. Couldn't move or talk it hurt so bad, but that isn't the first time that's happened. Strange though. It only happens once, for about a minute, sometimes two and it's right after I eat. I just decided to get up and my back isn't hurting so bad and I haven't had any cramping for a little while but still haven't felt Cayden move. If this goes on all night I might give my doc a call.... I don't know... :/

mamabare30 - Friday, 11 April
hiya, thanks so much for the message! I hate that i came across as such a jerk but i was in such a state of the dumps that i couldn't help but moan and groan all my frustrations!! I'm glad to hear that you had a similar case and that it was just a matter of evening out for you. I'm just really anxious to get into the 2nd trimester so i can eat normally and feel more normal, hopefully then my body image will make more sense to me :)
Thanks again for the words of comfort and good luck to you too!

copmom2b - Friday, 11 April
That's so awesome to hear about your shower!! I can't wait until my little one has some things that I can play with!!! I'm still waiting for my stupid furniture to come in! I ordered it the first week in February and it should have arrived the middle of march, but a few things are on back order and should be here in the next week or so. Everything is painted, the border and curtains are up so now we are just waiting for the rest to get here. I'm growing anxious b/c the past two days I was having some heavy duty pains in my belly and I went to my regular appt and she sent me to L and D b/c she said that it wasn't normal for me to be that uncomfortable. When I got to L and D they hooked me up to the monitoring equiptment they said that I was contracting every 3 minutes!!!!!!! I drank a boat load of water and there was no let up so they determined that they weren't Braxton Hicks, but rather pre-term contractions. Thankfully they were able to get them to stop and now I'm on bedrest for the next week.! Arrggghhhhh thankfully, the little one is okay and my cervix is closed. Thank God for that!!

KariLynn - Friday, 11 April
I am so glad that you went in. I do go in more now that I am preggo, otherwise you almost have to pay me to go to the doctor. With the exception of strep throat, I have never been diagnosed with anything, ever. They tell me there is nothing wrong with me. Its like you know, I wouldn't be here if I were healthy!! Drives me crazy. I hear you on being exhausted. Most nights I am ready for bed by 8. I can't sleep if Dan is in bed. Luckily we are fighting right now, so I can get some decent rest ;) Getting up in the A.M. is never easy eithor. As for the vidoes, im not squemish when it comes to that sort of thing, mostly because its a movie, ya know. Even though I know its the real deal. Did you get some snow? I know up to a foot was expected in the area. My dad was supposed to fly into MPLS today from Baltimore. I am glad to be on this side of it lol. One more hour, I am so ready for the day to be over with!! I am so tired. Well have a good night. I will talk to you later:)

SurferBabyGirl-on-Board - Thursday, 10 April
Thank you so much for your message, it makes me feel better to hear other women's symptoms just stopped. I called my doctor who said it was normal...Thanks!

Andais - Thursday, 10 April
My MIL does the same crying thing too. and she just expects us to cave every time! Screw her!

mandalou81 - Thursday, 10 April
Yeah that does sound like we have similar babies. I'm having a boy!! He's learnt a cool new trick - Kicking me in the ribs and headbutting me in the bladder at the same time! Do you get that??

KariLynn - Thursday, 10 April
Hi :) I am glad to hear that things are ok. It's always better to be safe than sorry! Especially when it comes to your baby. My aunt lost her baby at 7 1/2 months. So as we are closer to that point I am real careful too! Not to scare you, but she went in because of lack of movement of the baby. Well the cord ended up being wrapped around the neck and didn't make it. So if I noticed a change in the baby, I too would go get checked out right away! Like you I would rather it be nothing and me be paranoid, than something. Again I really wasn't trying to scare you. I had some braxton hicks on Monday morning well the doc confirmed it. Its so weird. Kinda scared now for the real thing lol. Have you watched any birthing videos at all? I am contemplating wheather or not I want to. It could just make it so much more scary. Things are coming together for all the baby necessities at my house. I just hope I don't miss anything that I am supposed to have. I guess I could just ask my aunt to send me what I need since she has all kinds of money lol. J/K :) Sorry it took me a couple days to get back to you! I have been so busy at work and still don't have a computer at home. Really wish I did though. Well I should get back to work. Take care and I will talk to you soon!!

majad - Wednesday, 9 April
Oh hello!!! I am feeling better this week. Last week i was "drying" from sinus infection. I felt misserable, but at the end i gave up and went to the doctor to get some meds. I feel guilty for taking them, but it was truly terrible. I am sure my baby is thanking me :). Other then that, i am getting bigger and bigger, swollen like never in my life, and just over all heavy and ready for delivery. I hope you had a great time for your baby shower!!!!!!! I decided on not to have one as i have literally everything :) This week i will go to see my baby in 4d. it is what i call it a fun ultrasound, where they provide your with photos, and a DVD :) Cant wait!!!! check it out http://www.prenatalvision.com/

Andais - Wednesday, 9 April
No worries about the long post. I actually like reading the long ones! You made such a great point with the whole her family should throw a shower if she really wants her people to be there. My sisters are throwing this one so they invited my family which just the women consisit of over 30 people! I think I'll point that out to her while she's here. I'm trying so hard not to think about her coming to town, because it LITERALLY makes me sick. and the stress level definately affects the baby...I can feel it. : ( She just expects to move in with us for a whole month after my dauhter is born to help raise her! My husband and I are going to sit her down and say that will never happen while she's here. We've decided not to have anyone stay here when we bring her home but us and our son. Sort of a bonding experience. Anywho, I've talked your ear (or is it eyes) off long enough. Have a wonderful day!

breya- - Wednesday, 9 April
ohhhh yes my son had HUGE hiccups all through my 3rd trimester ....he was so easy going in utero i just figured i would have an easy baby hmm well i guess he was until he started crawling at 4 months old ! he walked at 10 and hasnt stopped since ,hes so excited though to meet his sister whom he insist on calling Baby angel (her name will be Olivia Journey....Liv for short) that he comes up to me a million times a day to rub or kiss my belly ,im glad for that but i still feel like he has no clue lol, My brother just had a baby girl in Jan .and she was hiccupping on the way out lol .She was also so overactive in utero that we were nervous that she would be a crazy lil thing but she is the sweetest smilest little girl in the world so we will see ......good luck and congrats !!!

mommi2b - Wednesday, 9 April
I'm so glad everything's okay. Almost the same thing happened w/ me too - the other day she hadn't moved all morning, and usually she's kicking like crazy while I'm having my morning coffee until I eat breakfast, then she settles down about 1/2 hour after I eat. But I wasn't feeling her at all. I called my hubby freaking out and he told me she's probably just tired. So I ate breakfast early hoping to feel her and she finally started kicking and moving around in there. I was sooooo relieved! What a panic! And I don't wanna call the doc unless I know something may be wrong, ya know?...I don't wanna annoy them. Seems this past week or two I've been worrying about so much w/ my lil Maddy...I called the doc freaking out about BH contractions I was having, and I had these really bad painful cramps...totally stressing out. But I don't know what's normal and what's not, ya know? It's not like I've been thru this before....

RaynbowMami - Tuesday, 8 April
Well he hasn't decided if he is coming or not. I want him to come but he may not. So we'll see.

I do have a babysitter picked out. I have no family here that I could leave her with.

majad - Tuesday, 8 April
Such a cute photo! You both look very excited.

knockoutmom - Tuesday, 8 April
awww that must have been so scary not feeling your little one move! im so paranoid about that. the second i cant feel her i freak out. thankfully so far shes been pretty consistent with the movements. i feel absolutly huge! we took a few pics at the beach so ill have to post them as soon as we hook up the digi cam wire. our new place is great! its definitly a lot more room. we even have a garage which is a nice addition. i just wish we could have purchased it. renting is such a pain! so far the nursery is just a random box room which is stressing me out. zach doesnt seem to be in a hurry to buy baby things like i am. we could possibly have our babies in mid may you realize! we're full term then! ahh! thats next month! i cant believe how much life is going to change in just such a short amount of time. im ready but im just so scared at the same time! hows the weather up there?

knockoutmom - Monday, 7 April
hey, how are things? ive been crazy! first we moved, then on the day we actually got to really moved in i got sick and threw up 20 times i think from taco bell, then friday we went to myrtle beach and on top of all that my braxton hicks and fatigue are killing me! i literally just cannot keep my eyes open at work anymore. i want to try to work til i can, too. when will you take leave?

sticker - Monday, 7 April
Thanks for your message. I went to an outlet mall last Saturday and those BH contractions got pretty strong after all that walking I did. After about 5 hours into our shopping I got a very strong contraction, it was so scary, I even sat down to catch my breath. I'm trying not to think about labor, but with these BH contractions I can't help but think about it. When I drink water and relax the contactions seem to fade away nicely so I guess it's like my DR said, make sure you drink water throughout the day to avoid dehydration.

KariLynn - Monday, 7 April
Hey I am glad that you had a good shower. Stuff is really expensive. I am so lucky, I have so many hand me downs, and a generous lady who bought everything else that i needed. My aunt who is kind of a b..... said to me ya I guess when you dont have any money it is expensive. I was so mad at her for making that comment. I know she will help me out a lot and will admit I like that, but I wish she could keep comments to herself. I mean I thought it was so rude. I just wanted to say to her, well at least I have a job unlike her daughter with 2 kids. Ugh, sorry. Oh to the venting lol. Have you had any braxton hicks yet? I think I had some this morning, but don't know for sure. I have an appt in 4 hours, so I guess I will figure it out :) Well I should get back to work for now, but will talk to you soon. Have a great day :)

RaynbowMami - Monday, 7 April
Well my son lives with my parents in TX. I only see him during the summer. I'm hoping to have him here when I give birth. I want him in the room with me. He'll probably chicken out though. I didn't raise him so it's ike this is really my first child.

My work situation is tricky. I work for a small company so I only get paid for two weeks. That's my sick time and my vacation time. Then I'll take two weeks off with no pay. After that I'll work from 8am to noon for another two or 3 weeks. Then after that I go back to work full time leaving her with a baby sitter. I don't really like my daycare choices near my house.

deerwendy - Monday, 7 April
I can't believe your at week 30! Where has time gone? How are you feeling? Have you found out what you are having? We are having a boy and I am thrilled!

Keep in touch when you can!

mommi2b - Monday, 7 April
Hi! I'm so sorry I haven't gotten back to you - been sooo busy this past week w/ work and everything. It went good - the orange drink wasn't bad at all...actually I think was kinda good! LOL Tasted like really syruppy orange soda. Then had to wait an hour and get my blood taken. I have to call my doc office tomorrow, cuz I check my test results online and I'm not sure exactly if they are the results from the glucose test. All it says is my labwork is normal and that my blood count is normal. So I don't know if that means my glucose test or what.

Anyways - how are you feeling? How was your weekend? Do anything special?

laddgirl - Monday, 7 April
Hey, thanks for checking in on me. Makes me feel special (hehe). I am doing ok right now. I have my d&c on Tuesday. As sad as it may sound, I'm ready to move on to the next chapter of my life. I yet expect to have children(twins) in my future. It was prophacy from God so I know it will happen...I just have to seek God on when that time will be. My husband wants boys. I want one of each. I have two girls now from a previous marriage. One each with my husband will just be a joy to me. How are you holding up. I checked out your pictures.......No, you can't complain about not having a baby belly anymore. You look great though. Congrats on your graduation from law school. I am after my BA in Business w/Human Resource. Sorry to be so long. It helps talking with you ladies. I may not have my own story to tell right now, so I take a whole lot of joy sharing in you alls. Thanks. Talk more soon.
