MAISIE PAULINE

Due Date: June 13th, 2008

Born: May 30th, 2008 at 6:34 am

Stats: 7 lbs, 4.9 oz -- 19 3/4 inches

She's a gorgeous girl with a little dark brown hair and blue eyes... she stole mommy and daddy's heart from the first moment we laid eyes on her!

ONE MONTH:

Whew! What a whirlwind month it's been! Maisie is a really good baby and we're so happy she's a part of our family. Dan and I have studied her from top to bottom and have concluded she's perfect. :) She seems to have mom's dark hair, eyes, and toes, and dad's mouth and temperament. Overall she looks a bit more like dad than like mom.

Maisie has pretty much smiled from day one. She's a very happy little baby who, like all newborns, likes to eat, sleep & cuddle with mom and dad! She loves bathtime. She often does the "Popeye-eye,"" which is when she opens one eye first when she wakes up. When she's hungry and I put her over my shoulder, she bobs her head back & forth, like a bird does when they're looking for food. It's so cute! Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the world, and I'm loving every moment of it!

TWO MONTHS:

Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen! At her two month checkup she weighed 10 lbs, 5 oz. It's funny because that's about the size they thought she would be when she was born... now she's just reaching that weight at 2 mos of age. It's amazing how wrong the ultrasound technicians were about her size. But since she was such a little peanut when she was born, she definitely looks like she's filling out a lot now. Her little face is a bit pudgier, and her arms and legs have a few little rolls on them. So cute! Her hair is getting just a bit thicker, and she still has beautiful blue eyes.

She's also been interacting with Dan and I more and more each day. She imitates our facial expressions. Dan sticks his tongue out at her and she does it back. I tend to smile at her with my mouth wide open and she smiles the same way back at me. She definitely knows who I am too. She follows me with her eyes when Dan is holding her and I am walking throughout the room. Melts my heart! She also turns her head toward my voice when I walk into a room.

I'm still breastfeeding and enjoying that, even though it is a bit time consuming. I have no idea how I'd do it if I had another child in the home. Speaking of which... I swear I'm already ready to start trying for #2! Dan isn't anywhere near that point, so we'll be probably waiting at least a year. Actually if Dan had his way, Maisie would be an only child. We'll see where life takes us!

Maisie at two months:

Maisie

THREE MONTHS:

Maisie turned three months on August 30th. I see why people say they grow up way too fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. But then I look at pictures of when she was firstborn, as compared to pictures of her now, and I just can't believe how much she is changing. She's still a very happy little girl, and a very calm baby, which we are so very thankful for!

She began reaching for toys and grabbing things several weeks ago. I took her to Iowa to meet her great-grandparents and she laid on their floor and suddenly reached over and grabbed a little toy. She'd been trying for a long time, but that was the first time she was successful. So cute! She loves to bury her little head into my chest when I hold her, which just melts my heart. She hasn't rolled over yet, but she's working on it like a mad woman. If she could just get the upper part of her body to communicate with the lower part, she'd be a rolling machine! :) She was twelve pounds, two ounces as of last week, so she seems to be growing really well.

I started back at work last week, which has been a tough adjustment, but we're getting through it. Maisie is still at home with Dan, so that has helped the transition. I still miss her like crazy when I'm at work, and I hardly put her down between the time I get home and the time she goes to bed! I just love her to pieces.

September 7, 2008 -- Yay for Maisie! I'm such a proud mama... Maisie rolled over for the first time this evening! I had brought her over to my grandmother's and she was laying on the floor, working so hard on rolling over, but she just couldn't figure out what to do with her shoulder. We put her back on the floor after we got home, and she worked and worked at it until finally... she did it! She looked so cute laying there, grunting and tensing her muscles... I am so proud of her!

September 11, 2008 -- Maisie laughed for the first time when I was blowing on her tummy! Sooo cute!

September 15th, 2008 -- Maisie started rolling from her back to her front last week, but today she kept on rolling, and rolled from her front to her back! My little girl is growing so quickly!

FOUR MONTHS:

It’s hard to believe my little girl is already four months old! Maisie continues to grow like a weed and amaze Dan & I every day. At her four month checkup she weighed 13 lbs, 13 oz and was almost 24 inches, which put her at about the 50% for height and weight. She started rolling over last month, and now she’s basically obsessed with being on her stomach. It’s made diaper changes a bit challenging! She’s still smiley as ever and giggles when we play with her. I just can’t wait to come home after work each day to see her. It melts my heart when she gives me that big gummy grin when I walk in the door. Now if only I could get that hair on her head to grow a little… I swear she had more hair on her head when she was born! She’s still adorable with her little cue-ball head. Life is good... J

FIVE MONTHS:
Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen. She's a really happy little baby who just goes with the flow. We did our first overnight trip with her a few weeks ago, and she did just great. Hardly made a peep as we toted her around from place to place. She's finally consistently sleeping about 11-12 hours at night, which has made me very happy! She's rolling both directions, and is really good at grabbing things... and of course putting them straight in her mouth once she gets them into her hands.
I'm actually still breastfeeding, though we've had to introduce formula due to my milk supply decreasing since I've been back at work. I think I'm finally burning out on pumping during the day, and will likely just start breastfeeding her in the morning and evening.
Maisie was a flower for Halloween. Truth be told, she wasn't too excited about having a flower hat on her head. But she was a good sport about it anyway, and let Dan & I take her around trick-or-treating. She fell asleep in my arms before I could even get her costume off. Too cute...

November 9th, 2008 - I felt Maisie's first tooth popping through! She's been drooling a lot, but other than that I wouldn't have even known she was teething. She hasn't been any more fussy than usual, or anything like that.
See Maisie in action!

copmom2b - Sunday, 6 April
Hey there, just wanted to check in with you. I saw that you had a shower yesterday. That is so awesome! I'm only having one and I haven't had it yet, but I'm sure that it's right around the corner. My sisters are planning it for me and they want it to be a surprise despite the fact that i hate surprises!! Did you get a lot of good stuff? Anything off of your registry? I've heard from al ot of my friends that people tend to buy whatever they want instead of getting you the stuff that you really need (and registered for). Anywho...good luck with all your new stuff and I hope to talk to you soon. BTW are you washing all of your baby clothes before you put them on your little one? I'm up in the air about that one in case things need to be returned.

jillb - Sunday, 6 April
Hi there! I had my first shower yesterday too, and it was went well. We got a lot of gifts, but I had so many clothes. I can't remember if I told you but a family friend gave us SO many clothes 0-36 months. We don't need anymore clothes. We are blessed. I am not complaining. I ended up taking some things back and getting gift cards. Those will come in handy. How was your shower? And yes, I went to the doctor this past week, and she seemed to think he was head down based on where she picked up the heart beat. But she didn't act concerned. I kind of wish they seemed more interested in giving me details about anything, but they don't. They are a very non-chalant kind of practice. And I know EXACTLY what you mean about being an emotional wreck. When I was pregnant with my first (daughter) child, I had to "shop" around for day care before she was even born. That was miserable. I was making those calls while I was working, and I remember just sitting there crying. The good thing about having a second is that I am much more relieved. They don't know any different, and they adjust to whatever environment you put them in. However, it's heartbreaking to leave a little newborn at a school or daycare without his/her parents. Trust me, I know that feeling. It's gut-wrenching the first week or so. But you will do great. While I was at the shower yesterday, I think I overdid it. My feet/ankles were so swollen when I got home last night. We had to travel a couple of hours each way for the shower too since it was at my parents house. They live about 2 hours from me. I still haven't recovered today. I don't think the car ride was helpful. Oh and by the way (for what it's worth), I looked at your 30 week pic, and I think it's a girl!!! :) I am definitely carrying different this time around. I had a girl the first time and a boy this time. I know you and hubby can't wait to find out!! Well, I better run. Let me know how you are doing and how your shower was. Have a great Sunday!!

raynbowmami - Sunday, 6 April
Well my GF has bought a ton of stuff. But we still have 3 baby showers to go through. I have no idea where this stuff will go. We have no room now. It's super frustrating because she keeps buying stuff but won't help me get it organized. I've put her on punishment but to no avail. She just sneaks stuff into the house.

I have nothing left from my son because he's 16. My neice has sent me tons of stuff from her little girl. She had a 9.5 lb baby girl so she's growing out of her stuff faster than Alexis can buy it. I get a box every other week.

What I need now is a swing and we still have no baby bed because we have no room. I hate being unprepared for stuff. it drives me crazy.

Well I'm 5'10 and the bus drivers GF is 5'11. He said she is wayyyyy bigger than me. I think I'm bigger now than I was with my son. I'm still just all belly though. That's good. I think with my son my breasts weighed more than he did.

KariLynn - Saturday, 5 April
Good morning :) just wanted to say hi. Haven't been online all week, and I really missed the sight. The changes are kind of crazy. How are things with you?? Going good with me. Except Thursday night, I woke up on my back and coudn't manage to roll over any too easy. I almost had to wake up Dan for the help lol. I hope I don't grow too much more in the next 10 weeks! It is snowing here again!! I am so sick of it. I just want Spring here right now! I am getting impatient, and since I am pregnant I think I have the right to be lol. How are you coming along wiht the name thing? I just can't find a name to fit. I go through them left and right, I just can't make one stick. Its driving me crazy. I had one name that I was leaning twards, but my friend who had a baby last Tuesday used it lol. Just my luck, and we hadn't even discussed any names with each other. Since you don't know what you are having I am sure that its even more difficult. I know I don't have to name him until he is here, I just really want to go into the hospital with some ideas. Well thanks for the vent : ) I will talk to you soon :)

raynbowmami - Saturday, 5 April
I feel you on turning over in bed. it is a process. LOL Some days I just have to get out of the bed and start over. She's looking at me like What are you doing?? LOL

Well you know Marta is full of entertainment. Unfortunately it's been rather mild. I'm disappointed. I need to laugh. There is always some extremely inconsiderate person on their cell phone filling the enitre bus or car with their dramaticly ghetto story. *sigh* I find myself staring at them like "are you serious?" They never get it. LOL just dumb.

The bus drivers GF is pregnant and is due June 30th. He said she is WAYYYYYY bigger than me and we are the same height. I feel sorry for her cuz she has an extra two weeks to go after us.

preggiebelly - Saturday, 5 April
thank you so much. that is such wonderful news and just what I need to hear right now. Congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm so happy for you. Take care of yourself and thank you again for the message. I truly appreciate it. Hopefully we'll be just as blessed as you and your husband.

padow - Thursday, 3 April
Hey there! I am doing really good. Feet do hurt at the end of the day and I have heartburn almost every day, which I have never had in my life. That's all right, though! Other than that, excited and anxious about getting things ready, showers, etc. When is your first shower? I totally understand about getting off your feet--that's not really me, either. Makes it difficult to remember and comply with! So...what was the news with the bar?? And r u still working? R U planning on working after he/she arrives? What do you think of this new setup on the website? I am just seeing it for the first time (busy week), so I am getting familiar...hope you are having a great day! Keep in touch with me, please!!

raynbowmami - Thursday, 3 April
yeah Marta is NOT smarter. I hate it. But I do have to admit it's very entertaining. I get to see so much funny stuff that it makes it tolerable.
Today I was smart. I didn't drink too much water and I made sure I used the bathroom 3 times the last hour of work. Then walking from the bus stop I didn't walk too fast. I just causually strode home. it worked. I convinced myself I didn't have to go as bad and I made it with no complications. I'm so happy. Yesterday was a HOT MESS!!!

I've got two pillows in my bed. I have a long body pillow on one side and a regular pillow on the other side. One between my legs and one to keep me from laying on my back. When I lay on my back this child acts like she has no home training. It's been working pretty well. I just hate that it's about to get warm and my air conditioner is broken. Lawd help me.

My car should be ready next Friday. I'm so hoping it is. Only good thing about Marta the weekly pass is $13 my gas per week is about $56. Yeah I know.

RaynbowMami - Tuesday, 1 Apr
Lmao @ you breaking into a sprint. I'm so small sometimes I forget she's in there. *shrugs*

Speaking of preggo brain, a few months ago I ran into a school bus. Well not really ran into it but I scraped the side of it. I broke my mirror, dented my door and tore off some panel thingy that went over the tire. So I had to drop my car off yesterday to get fixed. I decided to save gas by taking Marta (public transit) for the next two weeks. Well low and behold it's supposed to RAIN all damn week long WTH. Girl I was like this is a C.O.N. spiracy!!!!

Oh I grew up in Champaign, Illinois. I also lived in Chicago, Gary IN, Tulsa OK, Vegas, Texas and St. Paul (don't ask me where cuz I don't remember). All of these places were after I graduated from high school.

musicis4thesoul - Monday, 31 Mar
OH my goodness and they hurt so bad! I'm going to try as hard as I can to eat less sodium, which contributes to the swelling. I'm on my feet 8 hours a day and I'm only allowed to sit for 2- 15 min. breaks, which I don't even sit the whole time, because you have to walk to the brake room etc. Good luck and if you find something that works, hit me up!

mommi2b - Monday, 31 Mar
Thanks! That does help :) I can't wait to hear my little Maddy's heartbeat tomorrow! I LOVE hearing her heartbeat! I wonder if I'm going to get any more u/s's...I have to remember to ask the dr about that tomorrow...I hope I at least get one more :)
I'm going to schedule one of those 3D/4D u/s's at one of those places. My hubby thinks it's freaky looking but I wanna see our little baby in there! Have you done one yet or are you going to?

raynbowmami - Monday, 31 Mar
Girl I'm from Illinois. Trust me I remember those days. I'd be PUMPED that it was 50 degrees. I'm like oh yeah spring is comin spring is comin!!! But after living in Atlanta for the last 6 years girl no one has time for this back and forth crap. I just need it to be warm and stay warm before we all end up sick again. It's going back to the 70's midweek. Just crazy. I had to turn my heat back on tonignt.

mommi2b - Monday, 31 Mar
Thanks! I will let you know tomorrow - if I get the results back right away...?
One more question and I hate to keep bugging you about this! My dr appt is for 8am tom morning so I won't have time to call them and ask, but did you have breakfast before?...are you allowed to eat or are you not supposed to eat before?
(Last question, I promise! ) :)

mommi2b - Monday, 31 Mar
Actually I'm really nervous about it now. Cuz usually I eat pretty good - Romaine lettuce, grilled chix, oatmeal, whole grains, blah blah blah. But this week has just been almost all junk. Been eating A LOT of choc ice cream, cheese fries, soda.... :(
So I'm worried that I'm gonna fail the test now or something cuz how I've been eating this week. Do you know does that have anything to do w/ it???

lilgracie - Sunday, 30 Mar
Instead of a victory lap I just read through the instructions booklet and took a nap, lol. One of my best friends actually gave it to me. She had a single for her first baby and then upgraded to this fancy shmancy one for the second and they've decided to stop at two so she gave it to me. I've read all of the warnings of using a used breastpump at length. We actually have a lactation consultant who is a friend of the family and she told me not to worry about the used breastpump just buy all new replaceable parts.

Nursey - Sunday, 30 Mar
Hey Minneapolis!

I've been so busy......terrible! I feel badly that I have not been on-line! Things are good, just t-i-r-e-d and the sciatic back pain isn't fun, either. My 18 month old son doesn't understand I can't be lifting him at all times....and work, well, sometimes I have no choice but to do some heavy lifting! Lucky for me, I work with fantastic people who really try to keep my lifting to a minimum. They are so considerate!
Yay! We are less than 3 months away! My C-Section will be on June 5th, this is only 9 weeks away. My goodness, I have so much to do yet! My last day at work will be May 17, but we'll see what my back and fatigue have to say about that!!! What about you?
So ya passed the GD test! Wasn't that orange drink sweet and refreshing (puke puke). I go for mine on April 11 - I told my husband he should drink it, as for with my first pregnancy, as I was drinking it, he said it doesn't look so bad. My ass!!!!!
Well, I suppose I should catch up on my reading on this site..... Take good care!

amygirl22 - Sunday, 30 Mar
Thanks! My mom is sooo worried about everything. LoL. I was told to not worry unless it turns red or if there is alot of cramping. I've had some cramping (not today tho) but I was told that was normal also.

mommi2b - Saturday, 29 Mar
Hi! That's great you passed the glucose test. I rescheduled my appt for Monday morning. Had too much work to get done today. So I'll let you know how it went on Monday! :) Hopefully good ;)

laddgirl - Saturday, 29 Mar
I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I however will not be going into the next trimaster, I found out today that once again my little one did not make it. God will keep me through this trial as well and I will be ok. I don't think I will be trying again any time soon, if we do at all. Take it easy and be blessed. Enjoy the gift you have inside.....it is such a precious one. Take care.

KariLynn - Saturday, 29 Mar
Hey :) Oh the swelling!! I am lucky so far. Like you I have a friend who had a lot of swelling. I haven't really had any, maybe just a little bit. I do drink lots of water. I walk at work, but thats about it...oops. I really want it to miss me. I really have been lucky so far, so I suppose something will probably come my way. My baby is having a lot of fun with my bladder!! Last night I got home from work feeling like I had to pee like no other. So I sat trying, for like 5 minutes or so, and NOTHING HAPPENED! LOL It was soooo annoying. Sorry if TMI! I was like I love you baby, but please get off my bladder :) He is definitly getting bigger, I feel him all the time. And I don't think he likes it when I push on my belly to play with him lol. Do you play with your baby like that? Its almost just to get a reaction mostly I think. Well I should get going. I need to close tonight, and really should get started!! Hope you have a great night if I don't make it back online :) And I shall talk to you soon!

knockoutmom - Saturday, 29 Mar
oh trust me, i made him go and buy me some ice cream today and some munchinks to make up for being so mean! yea i actually should be packing right now but i just cant seem to find the energy! everythin g will be moved in thankfully by the 1st though so at least thats coming up! we have about 6 people helping us move, too so that will work great! my 3 hour test wasnt so bad. they gave me the remote to the tv so it actually went by quick since i had something to do! i get the results back next week. ill let you know how i did!! how are you feeling?

Christelle - Thursday, 27 Mar
Hi! I didn't feel like it worked again so I decided to try and invite you instead to see. (The same thing happened as last time, just went to the intro page of this site when I clicked ok). Maybe they are having trouble with it? Hopefully it'll work this time! Just back from a brief trip so I'm going to read all the weekly comments now.

KariLynn - Wednesday, 26 Mar
Hey :) I am jealous of the ice cream, expecially twice in one day lol :) Did you have a good Easter, well you must have if you had ice cream...yummy!!! I have actaully been sick, so haven't really eaten much at all the last couple days :( Slowly starting to feel better, didn't work yesterday, wish I would have stayed home again today! I would not like for the MOA to be 'my' mall. Way too many people. One trip every couple years is good for me. My mom said they are supposed to get snow in Sioux Falls hopefully it will miss you, i bet you are wishing. Well I am going to get back to work, but maybe ill catch you later :) Have a good day and I will talk to you soon!!

mommi2b - Wednesday, 26 Mar
FL was awesome! Weather was great - got a nice tan goin on now! :) It hasn't been bad here in CT since I've been back. It's mostly been sunny...it snowed last night but didn't stick. I think it's supposed to get stormy and colder the end of the week though - which sucks :( I just can't wait until I can walk around in my tank tops and flip-flops again!
I have my dr appt this Friday and I think I'm doing the glucose test thing then. What do they do? I heard it's like a 4hr test or something???...and you have to drink some nasty drink?
