MAISIE PAULINE

Due Date: June 13th, 2008

Born: May 30th, 2008 at 6:34 am

Stats: 7 lbs, 4.9 oz -- 19 3/4 inches

She's a gorgeous girl with a little dark brown hair and blue eyes... she stole mommy and daddy's heart from the first moment we laid eyes on her!

ONE MONTH:

Whew! What a whirlwind month it's been! Maisie is a really good baby and we're so happy she's a part of our family. Dan and I have studied her from top to bottom and have concluded she's perfect. :) She seems to have mom's dark hair, eyes, and toes, and dad's mouth and temperament. Overall she looks a bit more like dad than like mom.

Maisie has pretty much smiled from day one. She's a very happy little baby who, like all newborns, likes to eat, sleep & cuddle with mom and dad! She loves bathtime. She often does the "Popeye-eye,"" which is when she opens one eye first when she wakes up. When she's hungry and I put her over my shoulder, she bobs her head back & forth, like a bird does when they're looking for food. It's so cute! Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the world, and I'm loving every moment of it!

TWO MONTHS:

Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen! At her two month checkup she weighed 10 lbs, 5 oz. It's funny because that's about the size they thought she would be when she was born... now she's just reaching that weight at 2 mos of age. It's amazing how wrong the ultrasound technicians were about her size. But since she was such a little peanut when she was born, she definitely looks like she's filling out a lot now. Her little face is a bit pudgier, and her arms and legs have a few little rolls on them. So cute! Her hair is getting just a bit thicker, and she still has beautiful blue eyes.

She's also been interacting with Dan and I more and more each day. She imitates our facial expressions. Dan sticks his tongue out at her and she does it back. I tend to smile at her with my mouth wide open and she smiles the same way back at me. She definitely knows who I am too. She follows me with her eyes when Dan is holding her and I am walking throughout the room. Melts my heart! She also turns her head toward my voice when I walk into a room.

I'm still breastfeeding and enjoying that, even though it is a bit time consuming. I have no idea how I'd do it if I had another child in the home. Speaking of which... I swear I'm already ready to start trying for #2! Dan isn't anywhere near that point, so we'll be probably waiting at least a year. Actually if Dan had his way, Maisie would be an only child. We'll see where life takes us!

THREE MONTHS:

Maisie turned three months on August 30th. I see why people say they grow up way too fast. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. But then I look at pictures of when she was firstborn, as compared to pictures of her now, and I just can't believe how much she is changing. She's still a very happy little girl, and a very calm baby, which we are so very thankful for!

She began reaching for toys and grabbing things several weeks ago. I took her to Iowa to meet her great-grandparents and she laid on their floor and suddenly reached over and grabbed a little toy. She'd been trying for a long time, but that was the first time she was successful. So cute! She loves to bury her little head into my chest when I hold her, which just melts my heart. She hasn't rolled over yet, but she's working on it like a mad woman. If she could just get the upper part of her body to communicate with the lower part, she'd be a rolling machine! :) She was twelve pounds, two ounces as of last week, so she seems to be growing really well.

I started back at work last week, which has been a tough adjustment, but we're getting through it. Maisie is still at home with Dan, so that has helped the transition. I still miss her like crazy when I'm at work, and I hardly put her down between the time I get home and the time she goes to bed! I just love her to pieces.

September 7, 2008 -- Yay for Maisie! I'm such a proud mama... Maisie rolled over for the first time this evening! I had brought her over to my grandmother's and she was laying on the floor, working so hard on rolling over, but she just couldn't figure out what to do with her shoulder. We put her back on the floor after we got home, and she worked and worked at it until finally... she did it! She looked so cute laying there, grunting and tensing her muscles... I am so proud of her!

September 11, 2008 -- Maisie laughed for the first time when I was blowing on her tummy! Sooo cute!

September 15th, 2008 -- Maisie started rolling from her back to her front last week, but today she kept on rolling, and rolled from her front to her back! My little girl is growing so quickly!

FOUR MONTHS:

It’s hard to believe my little girl is already four months old! Maisie continues to grow like a weed and amaze Dan & I every day. At her four month checkup she weighed 13 lbs, 13 oz and was almost 24 inches, which put her at about the 50% for height and weight. She started rolling over last month, and now she’s basically obsessed with being on her stomach. It’s made diaper changes a bit challenging! She’s still smiley as ever and giggles when we play with her. I just can’t wait to come home after work each day to see her. It melts my heart when she gives me that big gummy grin when I walk in the door. Now if only I could get that hair on her head to grow a little… I swear she had more hair on her head when she was born! She’s still adorable with her little cue-ball head. Life is good... J

FIVE MONTHS:
Maisie is still the cutest little peanut I've ever seen. She's a really happy little baby who just goes with the flow. We did our first overnight trip with her a few weeks ago, and she did just great. Hardly made a peep as we toted her around from place to place. She's finally consistently sleeping about 11-12 hours at night, which has made me very happy! She's rolling both directions, and is really good at grabbing things... and of course putting them straight in her mouth once she gets them into her hands.
I'm actually still breastfeeding, though we've had to introduce formula due to my milk supply decreasing since I've been back at work. I think I'm finally burning out on pumping during the day, and will likely just start breastfeeding her in the morning and evening.
Maisie was a flower for Halloween. Truth be told, she wasn't too excited about having a flower hat on her head. But she was a good sport about it anyway, and let Dan & I take her around trick-or-treating. She fell asleep in my arms before I could even get her costume off. Too cute...

November 9th, 2008 - I felt Maisie's first tooth popping through! She's been drooling a lot, but other than that I wouldn't have even known she was teething. She hasn't been any more fussy than usual, or anything like that.
See Maisie in action!

Oh wow. I can't believe that happened to your computer! I don't know how you were able to deal with that. I think I would've curled up into a ball and taken a long nap. Lol. So you can't recover anything? That's so great that you're feeling more movement! I can't figure my little guy out. There are days when he moves non stop and days where I barely feel anything. He must be changing positions or something. I don't like it when I can't feel him! When is the bar? Is it 2 or 3 days where you are?

*star* - Monday, 18 Feb
Hey! Thanks for making me feel better. I haven't been to a doctor yet after I drank that so I've been feeling awful. And yes it was over the caffeine limit because it was one of those big Amp Energy drinks. So I overdid it that day yes...but since then I have been extra cautious and mostly only drinking water. How is your pregnancy going??

padow - Monday, 18 Feb
Not at all! March is plenty of time. You can get one registry done in a day! And the 1st isn't until April...take your time! And the names...you have until June (or late May, the latest), so no worries, huh?? Just get through the bar--yeah, YIKES! That is so fabulous! I will pray that it goes well! :)

Good, I'm glad your feeling your little one kicking again! :)
I've been feeling little Madison constantly - I love it! I still haven't felt again outside....she still stops as soon as I put my hand on my belly! LOL

Hi! Thanks for the post and the lemon tip I will for sure try that. I am not for taking alot of meds and being preganat the thought still crosses my mind is this safe even tho my doctor say so, but you never know anymore. I have been feeling alot better and I hope you are as well. Have a wonderful day!!!

Hi, hope all is well with you. As I read about measurements in one book, the most accurate results for due date are from u/s done early, like 9-12 weeks. The further into the pregnancy, the less accurate it becomes. That is why, if they already determined due date early, they will not change it late even if a baby measures bigger. They have concerns only if a baby a lot bigger then it supposed to be, because it may indicate some problems like diabetes. But f it is just a bit, like in my case, and I assume in yours also, they just believe it will be bigger at delivery. My husband is not very tall, but he is a bit overweight. may be baby will be plump too:) Anyway, I would prefer smaller baby:) But it is a boy, so maybe this is why he is bigger:)

Yes, I remember that you wanted to find out after he/she is here. I think that's great. I think that we might have waited too, if we weren't moving a month after she's here, but then again--we might have just wanted to know! I've started to look at bedding, and if that wasn't overwhemling enough, I tried the online registry thing. Ummm...no. Not a good idea. I'll need to sit with a friend to even get started! I am going to be having a few showers, as well--so just putting some things on a registry will be helpful. We are very excited about our little girl, though! So, how have you been doing lately?? R U feeling movment??

JillB - Saturday, 16 Feb
Hi there! It's funny that I posted that because I hadn't had movement for about 4 days, then all of a sudden he decided to make mommy feel better. He's moved more and more every day. But next week could be a completely different story. And with both of us having m/c right before this pregnancy, it makes it really hard not to worry. I am with you too on not taking anything for granted. WE ARE 23 WEEKS! I am so excited!! Have a nice weekend!

mommi2b - Friday, 15 Feb
Awwww...that's the cutest thing, those little socks! :)
Good luck on your dr. appt. - mine's next Friday. I'm the same way...I always feel so much better once I hear my little one's heartbeat is nice and strong!...and I always get so scared and nervous when sometimes it takes them a minute to hear the heartbeat...seconds feel like hours!!! I start freaking out! lol

mommi2b - Friday, 15 Feb
PS - I was just looking at your pics you have posted, and you look great for being 22 weeks! I have to post some new pics of my belly...just haven't gotten around to it...

mommi2b - Friday, 15 Feb
That's awesome! Good for you! I hope I start feeling from the outside soon...so far just the one time.
Sounds like you had a nice relaxing Valentine's Day. So are we. We both worked all day - so we just ordered some pizza. I got him a few silly gifts like a singing monkey and love boxers and candy and stuff. He got me beautiful flowers and a really nice card....and I made him some Valentine's brownies today.....plus we will have our bedroom time! :)
I also gave him a card from our little Madison that said 'Having a Daddy like you is every princesses dream come true!' w/ a picture of Cindarella on it - it nearly brought him to tears!!! I think that's the sweetest thing ever!!! That's the best V-day gift ever!

LOL that's too funny! I can't wait for my hubby to feel our little one! :)
Ya know, I haven't really felt her move today either. I felt her last night when I was in bed, and a little bit this morning - but I haven't felt her since. I am not too worried yet, though...she's probably just being lazy today! But I know if I don't feel her by tonight I will start to worry..
How are u feeling otherwise? I've been feeling pretty good - just get very easily frustrated and then get angry easy. I feel better today, though - not raging as much!...maybe just cuz it's Valentine's Day! lol

KariLynn - Thursday, 14 Feb
I am sure you are right. When it comes to naming your baby, its hard to do, until you see it! Unless your like some women who have their baby's name picked out since forever :)

wisdomfey - Wednesday, 13 Feb
Thank you so much all of you for your advise! As soon as I get a grip on how to work this stuff here i wil be able to better reply!

KariLynn - Wednesday, 13 Feb
I am glad that you are feeling better!! And am sorry about the heartburn. I have been very lucky as well. Though I have noticed a little bit of discharge a couple of days, but I am kind of not worried about it, cause it happened a week a part. Other than that doing good. Do you have some names picked out yet. We are working on it, but haven't come up with the first name, only the middle. Well I will talk to you later, I should get back to work! Have a great day!!

ellasmom - Wednesday, 13 Feb
I always have awful leg cramps.....awful!!!! Bananas were my salvation as well. It's the potassium. My dad told me to eat bananas...how funny that a man would know that???? Good luck!!! And I'm glad that the bananas are working for you too....:-)

mommi2b - Wednesday, 13 Feb
Oh yeah - it's so reassuring! It felt awesome!!! But I haven't felt her kick again from the outside. Every time I feel her inside, and I put my hand on my belly she stops! lol

SophieSoph - Wednesday, 13 Feb
Hi! How did the mock exam go? Not too much fun, huh? Your message about blood pressure just cracked me up. You're so right though. Should we get more stressed & eat more salt? lol. My mom's blood pressure was where yours is. It sounds so low but I guess the docs know what they're talking about right? I'm curious what mine will be next month. I also saw your post about cramping and bananas. It totally works. I've been eating bananas for a couple of weeks now and my cramping has gotten better. A trick my husband told me about (our husbands seem to be full of good ideas!) is that when the cramping starts you should flex your foot so it stretches the muscle in your calf (if that's where your cramp is). I find that my cramp goes away instantly. He used to play soccer pretty regularly and those guys run so much they cramp all the time and that's what they do. Are you feeling your little one more? Mine has been so active the last couple of days it's crazy. I can sit and stare at my stomach when he gets going and he really puts on a show. It's gotten to the point that if I have something loose on and he gives me a good kick, the thing I'm wearing will move. I'm just constantly amazed by this whole pregnancy thing. So miraculous! Well, I hope you're doing well and feeling better. Take care of yourself!

knockoutmom - Tuesday, 12 Feb
me too. and people keep saying stuff like 'oh my gosh your only 22 weeks and your that big? imagine how big your gonna get!' so thats my new fear also!! haha!

knockoutmom - Tuesday, 12 Feb

JenPregWIth3rd - Tuesday, 12 Feb
