So I read ur post in birth control... My advice is JUST SAY NO TO DEPO... I'm on it now... I hate it I'm testing tomorrow To see if I'm pregnant which I doubt... And if I'm not then its this shot & I've gained weight that to Ppl who see me often notice... There's like a million side effects... I've heard and never believed til now . & my doc had told me Hair loss Not as in bald spots but noticeable in some;; yea I've noticed it... Soooo I say pick anything but depo.

Well, thanks for the info. I like hearing from other people about what they've experienced. I did stop exercising when they diagnosed me even though they said I could keep doing it...didn't want to risk it.

He is so gorgeous. What a lovely calm little expression he's got.

Thank you so much for responding to my post. This happened at 15 weeks and I am now 17 1/2 weeks. How many weeks were you when you were diagnosed. I'm concerned b/c my ob made it sound like it was no big deal. She told me to rest for a couple of days and then resume normal activities. The only restriction she gave me is sex. I also have hypothyroidism so it's double the stress for me. Were you having any pain?

I just wanted to tell all of you thank you for all your support, comments, prayers, positive thoughts, and friendships. The ladies on here are great and I don't know if I would've been able to stay sane during this pregnancy if it wasn't for all of you and your wisdom, faith and support!! Me and baby are still pregnant and trying to stay that way for as long as possible!! hope everyone is doing well!! big hugs from us

He's doing amazingly isn't he! I think it's so lovely that having his blanket might make the milk come better - it's magical almost.

Also I bet you never thought you'd hear yourself be happy about doing housework! I'm hoping the bedrest will do the same for me and I'll turn into some sort of domestic goddess once I'm finally back to normal...I'm not convinced it'll work though - I'll probably get back to my moany old self quickly enough.

Thanks for what you say - you have such a great ability to stay positive and I know it's worked well for you so I'm trying to learn from you!

A lady just posted me (she's also posted on the IC forum) the saddest story. I'm so fed up & shocked with the way IC is dealt with. I wish it was more widely understood and acted on. I'm seriously thinking that when my little one is a bit older I might spend some time trying to make people more aware of it. I know the danger is it will scare ladies that don't need to worry about it - but in the UK we get 2 scans as standard....one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. At the moment they don't bother to check the cervix at all during those scans. If they just added in a check on the cervix both times it may catch just some of the IC cases. I know it wouldn't catch everyone (me for instance - I didn't show up till 23 weeks) but even just a few would make such a difference. It seems mad to me that it isn't done as standard already. Do they check the cervix in the US in normal pregnancies?

I know what you mean about no more pregnancy. This was my last try anyway after all my miscarriages. Somehow she must have known she had to stay put!

The breast feeding thing is tough. I remember going through such traumas with it. And there are so many things they tell you that stress you out. I was told by my nct teacher that if he had a single bottle in the first few days that would be it - he would refuse the breast. When I was in hospital one of the nurses gave him a bottle while I was sleeping and I went bonkers as I was convinced she had scuppered my chance of breast feeding....of course that was not the case and all was fine - but you tend to believe everything they tell you when you are a new mom. I do hope you have a good lactation person help you out - it'll make such a difference. They may have a different pump they can recommend. To be honest I always found expressing difficult and never seemed to produce much at all when I did (and panicked that he wasn't getting enough when I fed him)....but the fact is he put on weight beautifully so despite my lack of success at expressing, it all seemed fine when he was drinking directly! So try not to lose faith in it...it may well be the same once he's big enough to drink for himself!

I am amazed I made it this far (and you were a massive inspiration for me when I first found out I had IC)....it's so weird actually because a few ladies on the IC forums have been told by their drs that cervix can't lengthen - and mine has. Not sure why they are being told that as I've read other people say the same...I am worried about my next appointment though (fri) as I'm so scared it will have changed for the bad again - I'm such a stresshead.

I know you are loving your little chap right now and I know you probably can't believe it but it gets even better. Boys are so much more affectionate than girls (I know that is a massive generalisation but I had lots of friends with girls born at the same time as my little boy and they all agreed)...you won't believe the number of kisses and hugs and flowers they give you. My little boy is 5 now and he is such a little charmer. I keep waiting for him to grow out of wanting to cuddle but he hasn't yet and I'm not arguing. I'm sure there will be a time some day when he thinks it's not cool to give mummy a hug at teh school gate...but it's just so lovely right now. Enjoy

Blimey - what a long ramble! Sorry!

Love to you and the little chap.

Hx

CONGRATS!! i really need to check this site more often, i didn't know you had him till today, lol. he is BEAUTIFUL!! how are you doing? everything is pretty good here, still pregnant, dr says i could go any day, she hopes i'll make it to 35 weeks though. she said even if i have her tomorrow she will be ok though, she looked great in my last u/s and i already had the steroid injections so she shouldn't have any problems!! would be nice if she stayed in a couple more weeks though, out of all 3 kids it would be nice if at least one of them actually got to come home with me!! don't worry about you milk supply, it will come, trust me. when i had my first i could barely pump anything out in the beginning and the next thing i knew i could have nursed the entire NICU and then some. guess i got a little carried away with the pumping, lol!!

That's soooo great!!! Congrats!!! My nephew was born at 30 weeks and spent 41 days in the NICU. Our son spent a total of a month there and he was born at 32 weeks. Just keep your spirits up!!! Let me know if you ever want to chat.
