Welcome, Teagan Rose!! August 29, 2008 @ 4:42pm

My name is Aimee, and I am currently about 16 weeks pregnant with my second child. It has been 8 years since my first was born, so this is almost like the first time again - I've forgotten alot about how pregnancy is, and I'm 8 years older so I know I'm not as resiliant as I was back then. I have been married for about a year and a half to my wonderful husband Mike, and this is his first baby. We're very excited, as are our families, to welcome our new addition!

April 5, 2008

I realize I'm starting this late into the game - but better late than never, right? I've been too sick the last few months to really feel like broadcasting my trials and tribulations, so now that I'm FINALLY feeling better, I'll do it all at once!!

The road up to today has been winding and bumpy - but here we are! First off, this pregnancy was an unexpected suprise. Obviously someone way more important thought it was the right time for us, because my body played some tricks on me that caused us to be less than careful - and suprise!!! But that's ok - as I mentioned, for the first few months I was battling all day sickness. Oddly, I was only physically sick a couple of times, but the nausea was so bad all day long that eating was not very appealing. Also, in week 8, I ended up in the ER due to bleeding and was diagnosed with a small subchorionic hematoma which is what caused the bleeding. Scary words, but the dr. didn't seem too concerned, aside from limited physical activity I was in the clear to proceed on with life. Aside from that and feeling sick everything has been normal. Now here I am at about 16 weeks, feeling MUCH better, and holy cow - in the last week I have surely popped!! With my daughter I was close to 7 months before I had to wear maternity clothes, and up to my 6th month I was still wearing my regular sized clothes. So it's been quite shocking to be rubber banding my jeans closed and shopping for maternity clothes this week - and seeing how "round" I am. Mike loves it - I wanted my bump, but now I'm thinking I still have a lot of months to go - I'm going to be HUGE!! Perhaps I'll get a picture of the current expansion to post - maybe I'm not as big as I feel.

Anways, it's now nap time - have a great day!!!

May 12, 2008

Happy Birthday to me!! Well, I had my ultrasound a week ago. Aside from baby looking like skeletor (which has affectionately become baby's new nickname) all went well. They moved my due date up a week from 9/21 to 9/13. I'm not sure how that makes me feel. Of course I want to see my baby asap - but I'd like to have as much time as possible to prepare as well. Oh well - the little one will come to us in it's own sweet time.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Hey there!! O WOW see we are in the same boat. I was on the magnesium too but after I had the baby when I went back into the hospital. That Mag stuff really helps you lose the weight. I haven't lost it all but I have lost 34 lbs already. Only 12 more to go. I am really not so concerned though about the 12 lbs because I am a small girl and being 112 lbs right now is good and healthy. The meds are workin really good right now. I only have 3 more days on them and then we will see how I react after I get off of them. Hopefully my blood pressure stays normal off of them!! I am crossing my fingers. Well it is good hearing from ya and def keep in touch!!

Hey there!!! Just seeing how you are doing!! I see you had your little girl! Congrats. So what is the story? I had my little girl on September 3 after 16 hours of labor!! Fun times : ) Anyways you will get a kick out of this one. So after I had the baby my Blood Pressure got even worse. I was back in the hospital 5 days later with "preclampsia" They kept me for 2 days and flushed my body of some of the fluid. They sent me home with blood pressure pills and I went back to the doctor the day after I got out of the hospital and my blood pressure had went up even more. It was 200 over 100!!!! Sooo she sent me straight to another hospital to the ICU to see the high risk pregnancy doctor. They kept me over there and pumped with more stuff to get rid of the water in my body. They used another blood pressure medicine and that has been working ever since!!! CRAZYYYYYYYY how I got worse after the baby came. Owell but she is here and she is fine!! : )

Hey there, hope you're doing ok. I actually had my baby last week on Thursday. The high risk doctor (not my ob who wouldn't quite belive how high my bp was) told me I was at risk for heart attack or stroke and had to deliver that day. The baby was fine thank God--he was in the N ICu for a few days but that had everything to do with the C-section and retained fluid in his lungs and nothing to do with his preterm status. He's fine now and we're home but I've been thinking of you and want to make sure you're ok.

angel8l200 - Friday, 22 August
OMG IS all I have to say!!!!! I can not believe what is going on with your situation!!!!!! Yeah that is prob why your blood pressure is through the roof!!! My blood results came back and all of them are normal and my blood pressure was 133 over 87 today so doctor was not to concerened. She said she will prob have me deliver before my due date though because she has a "buisness" trip a week before I am due. SOOO I was like FINE BY ME!!! So I will prob have my baby first week of September!! YES only 2 more weeks. As for you they prob should be taking that baby out earlier. I still can not believe you have not been induced yet. UHHHH You better make your husband and sis yell at those people. Def keep me updated!! GOOD LUCK!!!

professorpreggers - Thursday, 21 August
He told me it can be either way. It would only HAVE to be a C-section if it became an emergency. I was already scheduled for a c-section so the decision was simple. I'm dying to find out if I'm having the baby this week! Hope you're feeling better.

angel8l200 - Wednesday, 20 August
Well I am glad someone finally is listening to you!!!! GEZZZZ did they ever run blood test on you? My doctors did and that is what they are going by instead of the blood pressure results. Def keep me updated and I wish you luck!!!

professorpreggers - Wednesday, 20 August
oh, and 140/90 is not normal. My Dr said that's the starting point for where there are supposed to start getting worried about PIH or Preeclampsia. I hate residents--I've had my fill of them.

professorpreggers - Wednesday, 20 August
yes, that really sounds more like it. My diastolic numbers are lower than yours so your first bp at the hospital should have really been enough for more aggressive care. Even if your urine comes back normal (as mine did) don't let anybody tell you how are you are feeling—one of the high risk consults I had basically told me the same thing—that they weren’t worried unless the numbers were over 140/90. Well my diastolic doesn’t go higher than 90 but my systolic goes upwards of 180 and it makes me feel absolutely rotten. Those are very high diastolic numbers you are getting--you should make them come up with some plan for your care, either treatment or delivery but don't let some resident tell you how you are feeling. I go to a teaching hospital and there are some really dumb residents kicking around there. I go to another high risk Dr (who wanted to deliver me on Sunday) so I'll know if he's planning to deliver next week or not. Take care and let me know how it turns out. I know this isn't the most pleasant way to spend the last weeks of pregnancy.

Hi there... just read your post about your pop and nausea, etc... it sounds like a migraine to me. I've been getting them more often in this last trimester. Staying hydrated seems to keep them at bay. The bloodpressure could be a result of the experience itself... its very frightening when you have your first as you don't know what's going on... must be even worse when your pregnant. Still, if your ob hasn't done a protein check on you, it could be pre-eclampsia. You must insist that they check and, if you're feeling any lack of confidence in your ob, consider switching ASAP. Call your insurance provider for a reccommendation, go meet them immediately. If its too late to switch, consider hiring a mid-wife or doula to help make sure your doc doesn't turn out to be dud when the big day comes. Best to you and your little one...

I'm so sorry about how you feel. i completely understand you when you are telling the drs something and they act as if they know more about your body than you do. It's not like you haven't had a baby before, which is my case, but you are experienced and you know when something is going on. I pray that you and your baby will be safe.

professorpreggers - Wednesday, 20 August
Even if they did one set of labs, it's pretty routine to do several sets of blood work and to do it again over several days. Did they order a 24 hour urine collection at least? This is so standard for blood pressures a lot lower than yours. I would go buy a digital blood pressure cuff and monitor yourself--that's what I'm doing. My bp sneaks up quite high even with bed rest--don't know why they didn't put you on that either. They are about $30 and worth it. I can chart what my numbers are doing and tell the Dr about it. You can also tell what's going on before you get another one of those headaches. Just based on the headache alone, a high risk doctor at the hospital wanted me to deliver last week and they will probably deliver next week just to be on the safe side. Take care of yourself and try to find a way to keep an eye on your bp.

angel8l200 - Wednesday, 20 August
Hey there!! OMG i just read your post!!! YOUR DOCTOR IS AN IDIOT!!!! I am sorry!!! Your blood pressure is way to high and the headache and dizzyness is not a good sign. If I was you I prob would have strangled the doctor!!!!

professorpreggers - Wednesday, 20 August
I just read what you wrote on week 35. I can't believe they didn't run any labs on you---to me that's just insane! I went to the hospital over the weekend with 178/90 and a severe headache and they kept me in triage for two nights under constant observation and then ty sent me to the maternity ward for another day where more labs were done and today they sent me home on bedrest. The Dr wants to deliver at 37 weeks just to be safe. I really find it shocking they didn't keep you for observation and labs. Please go get another oppinion especially if this headache continues. This could be really serious PE and it's not to be messed with. I would demand bloodwork! I'm sorry you have to go through this and hope everything turns out ok for you.

Hey there!! I am having the same blood pressure problems like you. My blood pressure has been on the rise at every appointment. I went in on Friday and it was 137 over 83 so just boarderline. The doctor has me going back in tomorrow (Monday) to check it again to see if it is the same or if it went down since this is the highest it has been. They took some blood and checking that out. I am also swollen all over and have gained so much water weight from it. 7 lbs in two weeks NOT GOOD!!!! Anyways they told me as long as there is no protein in your urine then that is a good sign. I did not have protein on Friday and they are checking again tomorrow for it. Did you have any protein in your urine?

All of the ultrasounds I have had are due to a medical condition.... and very much needed, I'm going to need another one ( to make sure he is breathing right, and they wanted to check to see if he is swallowing correctly but I told him no to that one.... but i'll have to have another one to make sure he is still growing and make sure my fluid levels are going down or at least not increasing.... i am considered high risk.... i'm at the doc ever Monday and Thursday for NST. I noticed that they file the NST as surgery.... not sue why... and i've tried to appeal the charges of the ultrasounds, but it didn't do me any good. Well thanks for trying to help.... i'll never understand insurance!!

I hope this helps! I did a google search with 3d ultrasound illinois in the search area and below is what came up. Some of them even have web sites with prices. I made an appointment to go get one done in Springfield (Capital Imaging) and their prices start at $50 for gender determination and go up. Seems like a great facility too.
