February 13, 2008

Well, I am 29 years old and the mother of 3 beautiful children. 11 year old boy, 8 1/2 year old girl and a 3 year old girl. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and due October 18th. All of my babies are quite large when born so this one being large won't be a shocker. My son was a week late and weighed 9.9 and was 23 inches long. Daughter was induced a day early and was 8 lbs and 20 1/2 inches. Youngest daughter was 3 days late and induced, weighed 9.4 and was 21 1/2 inches long. Just once I would like to see what it felt like to have a small 7 lb baby. Oh well! I'm blessed with no morning sickness for any of them so I can deal with the big 'uns!

A little more about me. After my second daughter I had a tubal ligation which was reversed 4 years later. It obviously worked and I got pregnant for my beautiful 3 year old daughter. We got pregnant on the first try even though we were told it may take up to a year.

Since my reversal, I am considered high risk for ectopic pregnancies due to the surgery on my tubes. I found out I was pregnant with this one on 2/6 (I was due for my menses on the 7th). I have not had an ultrasound with this one yet, but we did have lab work done and my levels nearly quadrupled in two days. My labs were done on 2/8 and then on 2/11. They went from 330 to 1290..so that is a good sign that it's not ectopic. I go to the dr Monday, 2/18 and hopefully will have an US to confirm it is in the uterus.

Thanks for listening!!!!

Well, I went to my Dr's appt and it confirmed it was in the uterus...all is well. I go have another ultrasound on Wednesday, March 5...I will be 7 1/2 weeks when I have this one done. This time to see and hear the heartbeat. YAY!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 5, 2008

I had my u/s today and got to see and hear the baby's heartbeat. All is well. The little beans heartbeat was going at 162 bpm.

I found this website from another mom-to-be on this site. I thought it was pretty interesting. This is what my reading said...can't say it is correct but the size of the kid would fit right in with my others. LOL

http://pregnancyandbaby. com/pregnancy/baby/Madame-Zaritska-predicts-your-birth-experience-736. htm

Madame Zaritska, our resident clairvoyant, wants to help you prepare for the arrival of your child. Here she does her best to predict certain aspects of your labor and birth experience.

What she senses for you
The day you deliver, outside will be windy. Your baby will arrive at night.

After a labor lasting approximately 6 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 10 pounds, 6 ounces, and will be 19 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and be almost bald.

But there is more. I sense that there are some ideas and emotions you cannot quite put a finger on. I suggest you read through a few of these pregnancy diaries to see how other expectant mothers have felt at this special time.

I went for my Dr's appt today. I actually have lost weight!!! YAY me! According to my second appt-where I had gained three pounds that my husband and I attributed to the heavy clothing I was wearing because it was cold...I have lost 4 lbs from that time....1 lb if you go by what I weighed at my first appt though.

The dr couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler. She could hear mine, so I told her if she doesn't find the baby's soon the one she does here is going to get a lot faster. She still couldn't so I told her to check my blood pressure because I was getting nervous. She said she would let me have an u/s to ease my mind. Before I went we talked about whether I was going to breastfeed, have an epidural, was I in classes...then she said, oh this is your 4th, you could teach the class. HAHA

Anyways, I go get m u/s and the little thing was just a beating away..the u/s lady said that I have some kind of placenta (I can't remember the name) that is attached to the uterus at the top...where you want it but it makes it hard to hear the heartbeat at first because of the thick lining there. I got a new picture of the little punkin.

I have my next appt on Thursday, May 8 @ 8:30 (I will be 17 weeks) where I will get the gender u/s and the labwork for congenital defects.
YAY me!

Well, I had my 17 wk appt with u/s and it's a GIRL! I thought for sure this one was going to be a boy. This pregnancy is so much like the one with my son (he's my oldest). This makes # 4 for me and this is it. One boy and three girls!!!! Baby's head is measuring at 18 weeks...which is a scary thought thinking of where it's coming out at! LOL Measuring a couple days bigger that 16.5 but that's not uncommon. Only gained 1 lb since I got pregnant....YAY ME! I credit this to my treadmill and portion control!

I've scanned in some pics for you to view. The first one is her showing us she's a girl! One leg on the left and the other on the right...her lack of boy goodies are in the middle!

This one is a profile picture with her fingers in her mouth. Head on the left.

Last but not least, this is another profile...her head is on the left.

Went to my 5 month Dr's appt today. I've gained 5 lbs in one month but only a total of 6, which I know isn't all that bad. I'm at less weight gain now than I was with my youngest at this gestation in the pregnancy, so that is a plus. It was my last appt with my absolute favorite Dr. She is leaving to work at a different clinic in a town about an hour away from me. We were both very sad at the end of the appt.

I explained to her how I need more confirmation that the unborn is a girl since I was never completely convinced. My gender u/s was at 16.5 weeks and I'm afraid it may be a boy and just hadn't had his "stuff" drop yet, ya know?? So I have another u/s scheduled at my 6 month appt on June 27. At this appt I also have to drink the orange glucose drink so they can check for gestational diabetes. That drink is so disgusting..I'm not looking forward to it.

Other than this, there is nothing more to report.

June 25, 2008

Well, I had to call the doctor today...at my husband's request. I was up from 1:00 a.m. vomitting with diarrhea and had SEVERE stomach pains. Almost like contractions. It felt like someone stabbed me in my gut and was pulling it across. VERY PAINFUL! Anyways, I went in to see the nurse practitioner and she had to check me to make sure the severe vomitting didn't force dialation...it didn't. Baby's heart beat was good and so was my blood pressure. She said I likely had a virus, food poisoning or was cramping from the beginning of dehydration. I didn't eat or drink anything all day long. The moment I would put some water in my mouth I would want to vomit. It wasn't pretty. Regardless, she said she would feel better if I left the office at least one bag of fluids up so they put in an IV and got that into me. I felt better by the time we left. It was a long day to say the least.

I still have my appt Friday with my doctor and will get the u/s as scheduled. Thank goodness.

I am back at work today and very tired from the anti-nausea meds (Phenegren) they sent me home with. I did get a very restful nights sleep (10 hours) but am a bit groggy this morning. I will update more when I get my u/s Friday.

Well, I had my appt and posted all of this in my blog to the right but thought I would put it here too. Had my appt Friday and my sweet Olivia Leigh, is exactly that...a definite girl. The tech gave me a quick 4D u/s and it was amazing. I was considering to get one but wasn't sure. Well, seeing my baby rubbing her nose then eyes was amazing and definitely sold me on the 4D and spending the $200 to get the first pics of my sweet girl. She is absolutely perfect! She is rather big already, which is no surprise, she is measuring that of a 26 weeker and weighs 1 lb 11oz already...should be just over a lb. The doctor won't move my due date up since I just "grow em big" as he put it. LOL Which is fine with me since I know when I got pregnant and have never went into labor early am determined this baby will come out closer to Halloween than around her due date of Oct 17.

My hubby and I have a bet going (we bet on everything to make the outcome more interesting). I think she will be smaller than my other kids but he says I win if she comes out after Oct 12 (which is when he thinks she will be born) and weighs less than 8.9 (I think she will be high 7's even though all of my other kids were considerably more). He thinks she will be closer to 9.8. I guess only time will tell.

July 16, 2008

Nothing really to report, just really bored. My sweet Olivia is so active. I go next Wednesday for my 4D u/s, 28 wk appt, and then to register with anesthesia at the hospital. Being able to register with anesthesia is a milestone for me...means things are getting closer. Not only that, after this appt I should be seeing the dr every two weeks. Last appt he said we could probably wait till 32 weeks along since I have text book pregnancies but I want my 2 week appts. It's another milestone! LOL It gives me more opportunities to monitor my weight and feel the progression that labor isn't that far away. Very exciting times.

Sleeping has started getting to be more of a chore. When I can fall asleep it's not for long because I either have to get up to pee (which really isn't that often for some reason) or just because I'm so uncomfortable or hot. Getting in and out of bed and rolling over is like a 12 step process for me these days. To roll over my body involuntarily lets out a grunt...it's actually kind of funny but not. Last night I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't get comfortable. My back hurt on the lower right side. The only way I could get the pain to stop is to lay on my back but then the baby is uncomfortable and starts kicking and moving like crazy. So who can sleep at that point. Regardless, this is my 4th child and I've been through this before..after my sweet girl is here I know I will miss it.

July 17, 2008

Well, today is my last day in week 26 and it is a doozy! My hormones are crazy! I can't stop crying. I cried the whole way in to work this morning, stopping long enough to take my daughter into daycare but then broke down once I got into her classroom. Luckily, one of her teachers is 16 weeks pregnant and the other has kids so they at least know what I am going through. It's crazy because none of my other pregnancies were this bad with the roller coaster hormones. My poor husband and kids. I don't mean to snap at them or take it out on them but I can't help it. Luckily he is damn near perfect...even though he snaps back sometimes, he does try to comfort me when I let him know it's not him..it's me and I have no control over it. As I'm typing this...my eyes are welling up. This is incredible!!!

Women are allowed to just cry for no reason right? I mean...we take on a lot during our days that we just push behind us, not thinking that it is stress or something that may bother us later but I guess maybe after enough has piled on...we just break down. I mean, I have no idea what set this "roller coaster" off but I do know that I haven't had a really good cry in a long time. Every time I start, I stop it for whatever reason. Tonight I have a date with my jacuzzi tub so I can just let it all out. I think that will help. The fact that I've cried for the past hour or so, has made my eyes very heavy and now I'm sleepy. I see this day at work being a short one unless I can shake this.

Lots of wishes that the rest of our days are "hormone-less"!

Hi! I'm hanging in there.
I spent all day yesterday in a bah humbug mood, feeling sorry for myself and exhausted, then hubby came home and I was all smiles and stayed up till 2 am talking politics with him. Guess I just can't be alone right now! lol.

My doctor hasn't checked me for dilation or anything yet. She's one of the rare ones that waits. Which I have no problem with...I have no desire for an internal exam! lol

Can you believe its almost time for you?!!
Sure hope I'm not carrying one of those 42 weekers!

Hi! Thank you so much for writing and sharing your story with me, it feels good to know I'm not the only one who has a big baby, lol. I totally understand why you're having a c-section, I can just imagine the pain from tearing, ouch! I'm afraid that might happen too, if she is as big as the ultrasound estimates. I just have to wait and see next Thursday what my own doctor says I should do. I personally prefer, at least since this is my first, to try to let it happen naturally. I mean, I'm confident that my body knows a little better than the doctor when she's ready to come out. Besides, I want the surprise & excitement of not knowing exactly when I'm going to go into labor. Plus, I'm terrified of being induced. I've heard about how much stronger and more painful induced contractions are versus natural. But, since my doctor has an incredible reputation and experience, I will probably take her advice. So, only 6 more days to go for you huh? Wow, it must be really cool to know exactly when you're going to have your little one. Now that I think about it, maybe induction isn't so bad. This is your first c-section right? Are you a little nervous? I'm sorry you haven't made any progress yet, but you're not the only one. At my check up yesterday I was still only 1 cm and 0% effaced. Bummer. Well I'm going to take a nap now that hubby is off to work (I did laundry already this morning). ttyl!

Well I'm fine. And it will give me some time to relax, which I desperately needed. I'm trying my hardest not to worry about the money stuff. I'm just trying my best to give it to the Lord and let him deal with it. We have a great family, his parents and mine, so I know they won't let us hurt for anything, but it just stinks that they couldn't wait until after I went out with the baby. So now I am stuck calling all these people trying to figure out what I do now. My hubby has a job interview next week with a pharmaceutical (spelling?) company making more money, so hopefully he will get that. It would help us out so much if he could get that. It is more base pay and commission, so keep your fingers crossed for us!!

How are you doing?

itsallgood - Thursday, 2 October
Your c section is scheduled on my birthday. In that case bub will be an extra lovely child - just kidding.

Hope all goes well - you're lucky you know when its coming. When bub was still breech ( a few days ago I resigned myself to the fact that I would have a c section and the act that I would have a date on which to meet my new bub. Now the little mite has turned head down (we are 90% sure) so now it is back to the unknown!

Best wishes to you!

MommyToGirls - Thursday, 2 October
Wow, sounds like it IS a good thing you're having a c-section or you'd have a 12 pounder!!! Plus being overdue isn't fun. I'm hoping I don't go over this time, by the sounds of it I won't so I'm happy. Good luck to you, enjoy your last week of somewhat piece and quiet!

derra1976 - Tuesday, 30 September
Well I'm still working when I can. My paycheck will probably be next to nothing today when I get it. They have been really nice and understanding here about all of this, but I just feel so bad about missing so much work. I hate to miss work.

Well I hope your appt goes well. You will have to keep me posted on what they say! I go back today at 1:10. So I will post later on how it went.

derra1976 - Monday, 29 September
Hey girlie. I am ok. I have still been having contractions off and on. We actually went back to the hospital about 12:30 this morning with REALLY bad ones. I was for sure that this was it. But no change in my cervix. Still 2 and 80% effaced. They told me last week that I probably wouldn't make it two more weeks, but they still won't do anything to help me along either. I was in so much pain this morning. Then they gave me some pain medicine when I was at the hospital this morning, but oh my goodness it made me feel so weird. I go back to the Dr. tomorrow and I will be talking to her about this back and forth crap. I can't keep doing this.

I know you must be getting anxious!!!
