Hey, nothing here yet!

Tuesday, 19 Feb

I had a previous account here, but had to cancel it after constant threats from not-so-friendly members. Anywho, I`m currently 20 weeks (even though this site still has me at week 19). On Monday, February 4, we found out that we re having a boy! Daddy (who is a pro wrestler) is very happy to have a son he can train later on. We`re naming him Jackson Owen. Jackson doesn`t move very much yet, although he gets very happy when I eat Italian food (especially pizza).

that is what happened with my girl. They put her on the Nutramigen after everything else failed and then while on Nutramigen she started bleeding. To find out it was eating the lining of her intestines and making her bleed. They said that if she would have stayed on that she would have died. Oh that was scary!!! But they ended up putting her on a formula called Ele-care. and girl it is expensive! It's $48 a can! You ahve to order it from the pharmacy and insurance doesnt' cover it. But it has made her all better! Its like a totally different baby. But at least everything is better now.

lovingmylilgirl - Wednesday, 22 October
I saw you mentioned medical problems with the baby then read on here about maybe milk allergies. If yu don't mind me asking what is wrong with her? My baby is allergic to the cow's milk protein in formula. SHe can't take soy either. She is on a prescription formula. Ele-care

Oh I am glad you got it! You don't have to UPS back if it's cheaper through the post office. I used my company's account to send it!

Similac is on the way...by UPS in a Lexmark printer cartridge box.

My baby vomits quite a bit! Ive now worked out if I burp her half way through then again at the end then there's less chance of vomit but when she does its clotty and LOADs of it!
If you think its because of the milk have you tried Soy milk?? My mother said when I was a baby they tried every formula going and I was ill off them all and then the Doctor put me on Soy milk and I was ok with it! xx

Boopy - Tuesday, 5 August
Yeah, she loves the taste of Mylicon as well.

Which soy formula is your son on now?

No, you are not cruel. At least with the milk allergy he can grow out of that and won't need to take meds. I believe they give medication for babies if they have reflux...and they will grow out of it also. The drs and nurses were shocked that Anelise didn't exhibit signs of reflux...as most severely premature babies have it.

Did you husband grow out of his milk allergy?

CCQ - Tuesday, 5 August
Edyn went from Isomil Soy to Similac Sensitivity and now Similac Alimentum. Best of Luck!!!

Boopy - Tuesday, 5 August
I wish my appointment was earlier than the 21st...but if it gets too out of control...I may have to bump it up.

Also...I have tried Mylicon and Gripe water...no help.

She spits up and gets the hiccups all of the time. Not really vomit.

I wonder if there are any high calorie formulas out there that won't cause her so much pain.....hmmmm. She has to be on high calorie because of her prematurity.

Thanks for the luck! I need it!

Boopy - Tuesday, 5 August
Hi there. Do you think my baby has an allergy to her formula??? She recently starting screaming about a half hour after her feedings...even if I get her to finally burp. She also passes gas all day long. When she cries...she sounds and looks like she is in pain as her body gets all contorted and whatnot. What do you think??? She is on a high calorie formula...Enfamil Enfacare-22. We were given 3 cases of the stuff...and we feel blessed since it's so expensive...but free or not...I hate seeing my baby suffer like this.

CCQ - Monday, 4 August
Awwwe, Edyn is on the Alimentum now and I see a huge improvement. Her dr said the next step for us would be to add rice cereal to her bottles. The Alimentum tastes horrible too, Edyn made faces for the first few days. At one point she flat out refused to drink it until she had cried for about 5 minutes because she was hungry. And her burps are stinky too. Hope he feels better soon. I never dreamed there was so much to finding a formula. Just figured formula is formula. LOL

CCQ - Monday, 4 August
Hey, how is the gentlease working for ya'll? Edyn is on Alimentum now and still so fussy and gassy.

y baby girl started vomitting again. i just went out and bought her some Avenmt bottles. They are not easy to find at all and i had to comb the countryside for it. Anyways, now that i have it, she is about as interested in drinking from it as she is in finding herself a high chair so she can sit and have dinner with us. going crazy worrying about her.

hey my daughter had a bad bout of vomitting too. nothing would stay put in her tummy all of yesterday. took her to the hospital and the doc checked up and told me she had GER. That meant an acid reflux for her. symptoms we wouldnt even dream of include
1. vomitting after a meal. smetimes immediately sometimes quite a while after.
2. excessive burping
3. the child moves its head a lot while feeding. from side to side and throws its while neck up like it were trying to jump right out of your arms.
4. excessive saliva
if the symptoms match.. then all you need to do is to NOT BURP the child after a meal. just hold the child upright. no pressure on tummy... nothing. no patting, no rubbing the childs tummy or back... just hold the child upright for 30-40 mins after a meal. the child will burp on its own. put the child to sleep on its side to prevent aspiration on its own spit or vomit.

The doc also suggested i give my baby a one time dose of 4 drops of a drug you get in india. am giving you the chemical composition so you can check with your ped there. Domiperadone BP (1 mg per ml). it worked like a charm.

let me know if this helped. much love and support coming your way.

hey i just read your post and my daughter is vomiting too. I think you should switch doctors. Our doc switched Hannah to soy formula and she had bloodwork, urine test, ultrasound to rule out pyloric stenosis (thank god it was normal) and she had an upper gi yesterday. She was also prescribed a reflux medication. Is your son gaining weight?? My daughter didnt gain in a week so that could be why they are doing tests. But it is so scary when they vomit like that!

CCQ - Thursday, 24 July
Awwwe, good luck hunni!!!

CCQ - Wednesday, 23 July
What did they switch him to? I thought nutrimigen was the best!

nmck - Tuesday, 22 July
Oh that is funny! I thought you meant section 8...like government subsidized housing for low income people.

nmck - Tuesday, 22 July
Oh good. If it is not every bottle it probably isn't the scary thing. If it is reflux that is treatable pretty easily. Good luck. by the way, what does your screen name mean?

nmck - Tuesday, 22 July
My son has acid reflux. When I was reading about that, I heard of something called Pyloric Stenosis that can be very bad. The signs of it are projectile vomit very frequently. Like he throws up his whole bottle every time. If your son is that frequent you might want to look into it.
