Finding Out I am Pregnant!

I can't say that this went all that well. I took a home pregnancy test on November 22, 2007. Right as soon as I took the test it turned to positive. Dave was at home while I was taking the test. He took the news WAY better then I did. I am now coming around and getting really excited about this whole baby thing.

Telling Everyone

Where do we start? I had no clue how to tell people that we were going to have a baby. The first stop was to tell my mom and some family friends. Everything went really well with them. Mom almost dropped her food on the floor out of shock. Everyone else seems to be excited except for Dad. I didn't really know how to tell him so I just said "I peed on a stick and it was positive!" He really didn't take to this form of notice very much. I guess I could have done a better job of telling my father he was going to have a paternal grandchild for the first time. There are still quite a few people that we have yet to tell. I guess we will just tell them as the time comes.

13 Weeks Pregnant

19 Weeks Pregnant (almost half way there!!!)

March 3rd

Today I am going to have my 18 week obstretical ultrasound. I am so excited to see my baby again! I am just hoping that the little guy or gal keeps their legs crossed so that it will remain a secret as to whether I am having a baby Nickolas or a baby Amber.

March 6

As far as I know everything went well at the ultrasound. I don't see my doctor until the end of this month but I would assume that if something was wrong they would let me know. I got some really cute pics of my baby while I was there. I told the tech I didn't want to know the sex of the baby and in turn I didn't find out what I am having. When it was our turn to see the baby it was all curled up with its feet over its head! Right at the very end it stuck its hand right in the middle of the screen and the tech snapped a picture. It is definately my favourite picture to date.

March 26

I have another prenatal doctors appointment tomorrow. I will get the results from my ultrasound that I had almost 3 weeks ago. I am excited and nervous. The baby is really starting to kick/hit me a lot these days. Its favourite time to do this is when I am just getting into bed. Will update on the appointment on Friday.

March 31

Went to my doctors appointment on Thursday. Everythings is going per the normal. Measurements from the ultrasound were right on target. Gaining weight as per the usual and the heartbeat is still chugging along great.

So a couple of weeks ago I went to the hospital because I wasn't feeling the baby move too much. Turns out the baby was okay, just being lazy, and mommy wasn't doing good at all. It would appear that I have developed high blood pressure and had to stay in the hospital ALL weekend. I am out of the hospital, have been for over a week and a half, and am being monitored very carefully. I have to take my medication three times a day to try and keep things on track. I see my ob/gyn every week now. They are just trying to pass me through the weeks so that if I have to have the baby early at least it will be a little farther on in the pregnancy, you know, like 34 weeks on. I am keeping my fingers crossed and my temper down. There are still so many things to do before this baby makes his/her appearance here on earth.

Hi, with my 1st labour I only had a very small amount of fluid and didnt see a mucus plug or any blood. With my 2nd labour I had a huge gush of fluid and I was lying down in bed turning over, then I went to the toilet and there was a big thick mucus slug, no blood though. Hope this helps, good luck!

I think they can solder the rings together at a jewelers, I am not sure of the cost, but it doesn't really matter as long as I can wear my rings after the baby is born! I will wait a month or so after the birth, and then the rings can be correctly sized for whatever size my finger is at that point... hopefully it won't change much from there.

I guess that hindsight is 20/20. My hands didn't begin to swell until the 23rd, on that day I couldn't get the rings off. as my feet had been fluctuating, I thought my hands would too... the next two days I tried to take my rings off to no avail, then my fingers began to get painful and I knew they couldn't stay on any longer - that's when I went to the doctor's. I think it is a better practice to take off your rings before they swell at all, not when you first notice them swelling, as for me as soon as I noticed, it was too late.

I have gone to the the doctor once a month from I was three weeks. Out of eight visits I have had six ultrasounds. I will have one more at 37 weeks. A lot depends on your doctor and your insurance. My doctor uses the same machine that takes the ultrasounds
to check the baby's heartbeat so each time I go I see her.

It depends on your insurance. My insurance only covers one u/s at 20 weeks unless somthing is wrong and the Dr. recomends an U/S be done. I will not get another U/S so I just have to wait until birth to see the results. I did pay $200 for the 4D ultra sounds though which I got done at 32 weeks. Hope I helped

ragskusa24 - Friday, 20 June
Your doctor will usually do one more U/S around 34-36 weeks. To measure weight and position. Some doctors do not though...I think it depends on your insurance too. Sometimes insurance companies don't cover more then a certain amount of U/Sounds. I would ask your doctor to do one...see what he says!

Thanks for the photo comment.. I feel like a house.. I have gained 20 lbs. so far.. Brandon is 4 lbs. of that.. He is using my bladder as a pillow and staying pretty low in my belly, so I think that why I look so small.. We are both getting close to delivery.. Good Luck.. I am getting kind of nervous!!
