Thursday 17th January

Ive reached my due date !! no sign of baby though, yet. I decided to clear my page and get ready for the new arrival. He could arrive any day. I went to see the consultant yesterday and she agreed to induce me. If this baby hasnt arrived by Sunday ill be going in hospital.

Wednesday 23rd January - 2 days old

Well I didnt go into labour on my own and Sunday morning contacted Delivery Unit to go in for induction. I arrived at the maternity hospital at 2pm and was told that they wouldnt be able to start the induction due to the unit being absolutely chocka and no staff to look after me. So a dissappointed me came home. I was told to phone back the next morning. I got up again at 6.30am to phone the Delivery Unit and was told again that they were still busy but I would be contacted around lunchtime to be told the situation. At 10.35am I had a phone call, my nerves started to kick in. I was allowed to go into hospital for around 1ish so I could have this baby. After arriving at the hospital and being shown to one of the delivery rooms, lots of general questions were asked about the pregnancy. The doctor came in and said that the best way to get labour started would be to break my waters. At 3.15pm my waters were broken and the midwife said I was 3cm dialated. The contractions started and went from nothing to 2mins apart almost straight away. I had lots of pain in my back and ended up walking round the delivery room. My babys heartbeat had to be constantly monitored but some places in the delivery room the signal was lost as I was wearing a wireless monitor. I settled leaning against the hand basin. After an hour it was getting hard to 'blow' away the contractions and I said to the midwife I had the urge to push she said if I needed to push then push, so with the next contraction I was pushing and after 25mins my baby was born while I was standing up at 4.55pm weighing 9lbs exactly. I already had a canula in the back of my hand because of the antibiotics I needed for the group b strep I had during pregnancy and I was connected to a drip as soon as my baby was born just because of the risk of a heavy bleed. I am just so relieved that Wesley arrived safely and am over the moon that he is finally here, even if it was an very quick delivery !

Tuesday 29th January - 8 days old

Well my little man is getting on really well. The midwife came Saturday and did the heel prick, i hate seeing them have this done but its all part of the postnatal care. I asked for Wes to be weighed too, i was warned that he mite have lost a little but i didnt care i just wanted to know. As it happened he had already started to gain it was only an ounce but the midwife said that was good for 5 days. The Health Visitor is calling on Thursday so hopefully he will be weighed again and then the midwife is calling again on the 7th Feb. Im hoping that ill be discharged on the 7th.

Friday 8th February - 18 days old

Midwife came for the final time yesterday which was like omg now this baby is mine all mine with no-one interfering any more or telling me how to care for him. Where has the last 2 1/2 weeks gone. I cant believe my lil man is nearly 3 weeks old. Its just not fair ! however when I was in town earlier there was lots of preggie women walking about and I dont envy them one little bit. At my postnatal check at 6 weeks im guna ask to be sterilised again I absolutely, definately do not want any more children. Im getting too old for this shit !! lol. I asked the midwife to weigh him before she went and Wes has put on 1lb since he has been born which I dont think is that bad. Ill be takin my lil man to the baby clinic weekly to have him weighed and there is always a Health Visitor about if I have any concerns.

Tuesday 19th February - 4 weeks 1 day old

My little fella is doing really well, he now weighs 10lbs 12oz. I think hes going to have blue eyes and dark hair even though hes nearly bald on top. Last weeks picture I posted, Wes looks like my hubby and my youngest son when he was the same age but now hes looking more like me, but then all my children look like my side of the family, I just must have the better genes, lol. I also found out the weekend before last that im going to be a nanna in July not planned, not expected, but im absolutely over the moon. My lil man will only be 5 and a half months old and he will be an uncle !! awwww bless.

Tuesday 26th February - 5 weeks 1 day old

Weighed Wes again yesterday, hes now 11lb 10z. His 6 week check is Thursday next week so he will be weighed again then. While I was at the drop in clinic yesterday, I noticed a poster on the wall about how often you should have your baby weighed. It said that babies under 6 months should be weighed every fortnight and babies over 6 months should be weighed once a month. I think this is a bit off they, the Health Visitors - or whoever it is that makes these rules, shouldn't have a say. I think its down to the parent to decide how often they have their baby weighed. I know that with my others they were weighed every week until I couldn't be bothered to go to the baby clinic any more.

Saturday 8th March - 6 weeks 5 days old

Wes had his 6 week check on Thursday, all went well and he now weighs 11lbs 6 and a half ounces. I had my 6 week postnatal check aswell yesterday. Ive asked to be sterilised again. My doctor has referred me to Hinchingbrooke hospital as there is a consultant there that is willing to do it. My local hospital, Addenbrookes, wont entertain me as they say theres too much cost involved in women sterilisation and prefer women to have the implant or the coil fitted, even with 6 children they wont do it. I explained to the doctor that this is it and I wasnt wishing to have anymore children, besides im going to be a nanna in July so the doctor said that was another good enough reason to have it done. I rang yesterday to arrange a consultant appointment and had conformation through the post this morning. Its on Friday 28th March, so not long. Im hoping it will be the same with the waiting list for surgery too.

Tuesday 18th March - 8 weeks 1 day old

Wes is growing so fast he now weighs 12lb 4oz. I just want him to be all grown up - well at least a little older than he is. Ive realised im not cut out for looking after a baby, im finding it really hard work especially the night feeds. I thought it would be good to have another baby and dont get me wrong I wouldnt change anything for the world but if I knew it would really be like this ( not that i didnt know as I already had 5 but every baby is different ) I perhaps would have had second thoughts. I dont get much time to myself in the day as Wes is more awake than asleep so trying to grab 5 mins shut eye is impossible. Youd think that with Wes being awake all that time during the day, he would sleep well at night, nah that dont happen either. The Health Visitor is calling on Thursday to do a postnatal questionaire thingy, I think its to assess if I have depression or not, so i think ill have a word and see what she can suggest.

Monday 24th March - 9 weeks old

The Health Visitor came last Thursday to do a postnatal depression assessment on me and to check Wes aswell. He measures 58 and a half centimeters in height and has a head circumference of 42 cm. As I had him weighed last Monday I said it would be pointless to do it again. The Health Visitor said that Wes was just taking an interest in everything, basically being nosey !, thats why he hardly sleeps in the day and that he could be weaned at 4 months instead of 6. This Wednesday Wes has his first lot of immunisations :( hurray for calpol :)

no the register office were fine about it - the lady was lovely actually as joe and donny were being a pain in the arse in their and she said she has 2 boys herself so has seen it all before ! I said to her i imagine in a few years time when i have the 3 of em playing up I will overhear women saying "oh look at that poor girl with all them boys!!"...... ha or i should say poor woman i guess not girl!!.....think i spoke to soon earlier about rudy settling well at night now as hes been really unsettled all day so i foresee a bad night ahead (think it was maybe what i had for my tea a tesco vegetable paella maybe it was too rich?)

dawnybobs - Saturday, 5 April
hi oooh love the new page!! yeah i registed birth (WAS ONLY 20 MINS LATE HAHA) then i nipped to wilkinsons in huntingdon i needed to buy loads of photo albums and frames for all the photos weve took recently!! I got Rudy a gorgeous summer dungaree set from george (before i had him) with big disney pooh on front - hes doing so well at the moment he settles fantasticly after his night feeds (i dont give the infacol im sure that was making himbloody worse) i just get up now put tele on in bedroom feed him take my time then he goes straight back to sleep- i said ive turned into an owl am now wide awake at night when i feed him rather than sitting there feeding him whilst trying to keep my eyes open and hold back the tears haha!

dawnybobs - Tuesday, 1 Apr
ha what you bidding on?? im an ebay nut! been selling on it since joe my eldest was a baby - stopped listing the week or so before rudy due - just won 2 new breastfeeding tops this evening! they handy and if im gonna continue may as well make it as easy as possible- the 1st few days i remember it killing when rudy 1st latched on but i think he has the hang of it now as it doesnt do that any more - also iain bought me an expensive cream from tesco to use which i use as a preventative measure as the thought of cracked nipples terrifies me (saying that i never had cracked nipples the other times-not that i fed em for long).. had the health visitor today hes now 9 14.5oz!!she said he must be feeding well x oh yeah i will send those oils back to you for chloe!x(did try leaving this message last night but thing wasnt letting me!!..hope they sort these probs out soon!) are you on msn messenger/chat thingy??

dawnybobs - Monday, 31 Mar
hiya...luckily my stomach never turned into anything! i didnt give him the cowngate as i asked a friend who breastfed for 2 years!!! and she said its fine to feed if you got food poisoning/bug or anything something to do with anti bodies- I think i will continue with the feeding I am finding it much much easier this time - prob cos with the boys the minute theyd nod off on the boob id whip em off and put em down so as you can imagine theyd want a feed an hour later so i fet i was continually feeding - wheras with rudy i make sure he feeds for at least 20 mins to haf hour so he goes longer- we went to a party last night at iains football club i fed him at 8 then we went party he slept in his car seat on the table in the funtion room the whole time then we got home at 10pm i left him sleeping in seat and he didnt wake for feed till midnight- then he had feed at 3 30 then through till 7 30 so good night last night - im just waiting for him to start being awake more in the day as hes sleeping all the time still!x

no3mom2be - Sunday, 30 Mar

dawnybobs - Saturday, 29 Mar
yeah i thought you said you had appt at the raf- sorry to be dumb but is that in royal air force?

dawnybobs - Saturday, 29 Mar
hey sorry i didnt reply yesterday - i am ahving trouble with my page i cant read private messages or see my friends or reply to messages - the only way i am doing this now is cos i figured if i change my name in the address bar to mumbailey it may take me to your page and it did! my cousin (who is pregnant due june-unplanned) is in the same situation as you, she was sterilised at a young age after having her 2 boys she then had it reversed and then took 9 years to fall with her 3rd son, she then wanted to be sterilised again but they refused - she has now fell pregnant again (her youngest being 8 the same age as my joe) this 1 like i say wasnt planned and its another boy!.... I had the coil though and i can recommend it (bonus being no periods) i had the marina or it may be warina? coil its smaller than the normal copper iud (which gave me mega heavy periods) and with the marina like i say you dont have periods (i had light spotting for 2 months- but very very light) and then nothing - i think once a month you get seriously light spotting but thats it- I am going to have it again when ive stopped breast feeding. shame I couldnt reply to you yesterday you could have called in after your appt at the hospital!x

no3mom2be - Friday, 28 Mar
hi we are both doing well thanks im still on cloud nine just dazing at him hubbys being a star letting me rest when needed but i feel great the girls adore him hopefuly visiting family this weekend should be fun x lauze x

dawnybobs - Thursday, 27 Mar
I said he had a look of wes about him didnt i!
yup he's gonna be a chunky monkey, my auntie and cousin just left they said 'hes like a 3 month old'.... well my boys weighed 9 7 at 4-5 weeks so not really but I agree he looks big! I took them photos myself this morning so maybe I wont need to spend so much from photo sitting as i have got some good ones myself!!

dawnybobs - Thursday, 27 Mar
what did the docs advise for wes then?? have to say I dont think my boys ever got affected by their jabs either I certainly never had to give the calpo like they say you can .
its horrible seeing them in distress though and not being able to help them - rudy has been terrible last 2 nights not crying but just bloody noisy grunting, screeching and then its followed by hiccups more grunting and then a big fart, hes not constipated though we get loads of wet and dirty nappies in day its just night times hes so noisy yet silent all day. I am tempted tonight to put his moses basket in his bedroom as I will def hear him when he wakes for a feed but at least when I put him down after his feed i wont be kept away by all his noises that he makes whilst hes trying to get to sleep x

dawnybobs - Wednesday, 26 Mar
aaah is he off colour cos of his jabs you mentioned? Its all coming back to me that after some jabs when they babies they say you should give them calpol.... yeah its lovely news about lauze i did think something was going on as I hadnt had a message from her for a day or so so i sent her a message this evening asking whats happening and the next minute she sent that birth announcement!!
i love that new photo of rudy he was only 4 or 5 days old in my brothers arms but its a rare 1 with his eyes open as hes still always asleep, is that normal?? hes 12 days old now I thought he might be awake a LITTLE bit more than he is in the day? at what point was wes awake more?x

no3mom2be - Wednesday, 26 Mar
26/03/08 at 9.20am i gave birth to Max lee fitzpatrick mother and baby doing great he weighed 8lb 3 oz :-) the homebirth was amazing x lauze x

dawnybobs - Wednesday, 26 Mar
hiya meant to say uterus gone back down not cervix!!!! jsut got home from rudy photo sitting he pee'd poo'd and puked but didnt peep so we got some lovely photos - we got some lovely ones of him naked on white fur wrapped in his blue blanket (they can print these in black and white leaving the blanket blue which i like the sound of) he shat all over the mans white fur though haha! then we tried to get some of him on white towel bail on his front with legs tucked under him but that didnt work as he is too big already and kept stretching his legs out!! we then got a few laying over iains arm and then in a ball (but a very big ball) cupped in his hands! i cant wait to go and view them and buy some (its gonna cost me a fortune but hes my last so worth it!!)x

dawnybobs - Wednesday, 26 Mar
hey, got signed off midwife this morning, rudy went from 8 12 last wed to 9 7 this morn so i am very happy he must be feeding well. im typing this 1 handed as hes having a quick feed as he has photo sitting at 3.30 iain will hold him curled up in his hands so he needs to be asleep- i just had to wake him for a feed though! - midwife says i have an umbilical hernia has cervix gone right down but belly button still out she says it may go back in as abdominals go back to normal- hope so dont fancy an op x
