Thursday 17th January

Ive reached my due date !! no sign of baby though, yet. I decided to clear my page and get ready for the new arrival. He could arrive any day. I went to see the consultant yesterday and she agreed to induce me. If this baby hasnt arrived by Sunday ill be going in hospital.

Wednesday 23rd January - 2 days old

Well I didnt go into labour on my own and Sunday morning contacted Delivery Unit to go in for induction. I arrived at the maternity hospital at 2pm and was told that they wouldnt be able to start the induction due to the unit being absolutely chocka and no staff to look after me. So a dissappointed me came home. I was told to phone back the next morning. I got up again at 6.30am to phone the Delivery Unit and was told again that they were still busy but I would be contacted around lunchtime to be told the situation. At 10.35am I had a phone call, my nerves started to kick in. I was allowed to go into hospital for around 1ish so I could have this baby. After arriving at the hospital and being shown to one of the delivery rooms, lots of general questions were asked about the pregnancy. The doctor came in and said that the best way to get labour started would be to break my waters. At 3.15pm my waters were broken and the midwife said I was 3cm dialated. The contractions started and went from nothing to 2mins apart almost straight away. I had lots of pain in my back and ended up walking round the delivery room. My babys heartbeat had to be constantly monitored but some places in the delivery room the signal was lost as I was wearing a wireless monitor. I settled leaning against the hand basin. After an hour it was getting hard to 'blow' away the contractions and I said to the midwife I had the urge to push she said if I needed to push then push, so with the next contraction I was pushing and after 25mins my baby was born while I was standing up at 4.55pm weighing 9lbs exactly. I already had a canula in the back of my hand because of the antibiotics I needed for the group b strep I had during pregnancy and I was connected to a drip as soon as my baby was born just because of the risk of a heavy bleed. I am just so relieved that Wesley arrived safely and am over the moon that he is finally here, even if it was an very quick delivery !

Tuesday 29th January - 8 days old

Well my little man is getting on really well. The midwife came Saturday and did the heel prick, i hate seeing them have this done but its all part of the postnatal care. I asked for Wes to be weighed too, i was warned that he mite have lost a little but i didnt care i just wanted to know. As it happened he had already started to gain it was only an ounce but the midwife said that was good for 5 days. The Health Visitor is calling on Thursday so hopefully he will be weighed again and then the midwife is calling again on the 7th Feb. Im hoping that ill be discharged on the 7th.

Friday 8th February - 18 days old

Midwife came for the final time yesterday which was like omg now this baby is mine all mine with no-one interfering any more or telling me how to care for him. Where has the last 2 1/2 weeks gone. I cant believe my lil man is nearly 3 weeks old. Its just not fair ! however when I was in town earlier there was lots of preggie women walking about and I dont envy them one little bit. At my postnatal check at 6 weeks im guna ask to be sterilised again I absolutely, definately do not want any more children. Im getting too old for this shit !! lol. I asked the midwife to weigh him before she went and Wes has put on 1lb since he has been born which I dont think is that bad. Ill be takin my lil man to the baby clinic weekly to have him weighed and there is always a Health Visitor about if I have any concerns.

Tuesday 19th February - 4 weeks 1 day old

My little fella is doing really well, he now weighs 10lbs 12oz. I think hes going to have blue eyes and dark hair even though hes nearly bald on top. Last weeks picture I posted, Wes looks like my hubby and my youngest son when he was the same age but now hes looking more like me, but then all my children look like my side of the family, I just must have the better genes, lol. I also found out the weekend before last that im going to be a nanna in July not planned, not expected, but im absolutely over the moon. My lil man will only be 5 and a half months old and he will be an uncle !! awwww bless.

Tuesday 26th February - 5 weeks 1 day old

Weighed Wes again yesterday, hes now 11lb 10z. His 6 week check is Thursday next week so he will be weighed again then. While I was at the drop in clinic yesterday, I noticed a poster on the wall about how often you should have your baby weighed. It said that babies under 6 months should be weighed every fortnight and babies over 6 months should be weighed once a month. I think this is a bit off they, the Health Visitors - or whoever it is that makes these rules, shouldn't have a say. I think its down to the parent to decide how often they have their baby weighed. I know that with my others they were weighed every week until I couldn't be bothered to go to the baby clinic any more.

Saturday 8th March - 6 weeks 5 days old

Wes had his 6 week check on Thursday, all went well and he now weighs 11lbs 6 and a half ounces. I had my 6 week postnatal check aswell yesterday. Ive asked to be sterilised again. My doctor has referred me to Hinchingbrooke hospital as there is a consultant there that is willing to do it. My local hospital, Addenbrookes, wont entertain me as they say theres too much cost involved in women sterilisation and prefer women to have the implant or the coil fitted, even with 6 children they wont do it. I explained to the doctor that this is it and I wasnt wishing to have anymore children, besides im going to be a nanna in July so the doctor said that was another good enough reason to have it done. I rang yesterday to arrange a consultant appointment and had conformation through the post this morning. Its on Friday 28th March, so not long. Im hoping it will be the same with the waiting list for surgery too.

Tuesday 18th March - 8 weeks 1 day old

Wes is growing so fast he now weighs 12lb 4oz. I just want him to be all grown up - well at least a little older than he is. Ive realised im not cut out for looking after a baby, im finding it really hard work especially the night feeds. I thought it would be good to have another baby and dont get me wrong I wouldnt change anything for the world but if I knew it would really be like this ( not that i didnt know as I already had 5 but every baby is different ) I perhaps would have had second thoughts. I dont get much time to myself in the day as Wes is more awake than asleep so trying to grab 5 mins shut eye is impossible. Youd think that with Wes being awake all that time during the day, he would sleep well at night, nah that dont happen either. The Health Visitor is calling on Thursday to do a postnatal questionaire thingy, I think its to assess if I have depression or not, so i think ill have a word and see what she can suggest.

Monday 24th March - 9 weeks old

The Health Visitor came last Thursday to do a postnatal depression assessment on me and to check Wes aswell. He measures 58 and a half centimeters in height and has a head circumference of 42 cm. As I had him weighed last Monday I said it would be pointless to do it again. The Health Visitor said that Wes was just taking an interest in everything, basically being nosey !, thats why he hardly sleeps in the day and that he could be weaned at 4 months instead of 6. This Wednesday Wes has his first lot of immunisations :( hurray for calpol :)

ha your soooo right I mean I was feeing all happy on night 4 and 5 when the soother bear and dummy seemed to be working great now they seem to be as useful as a choc teapot!!
god yeah my boys are all their dads sons thats for sure - the thing is iains family all have such strong features they all like each other - I used to say i didnt want a girl as itd look like his bloody sisters who all look like iain in drag haha i swear thats why ive been given boys !!
oooooh i hate it when the babies get them jabs as they are sitting on your knee all smiles and gurgles and the next they stuck with needle and in tears (i always end up in tears too!!) - iains back at work tomorrow so back to normal here except for tomorrow 1st day where nobody is coming round to see rudy (ive had enough of bloody visitors) so i am gonna try sleep all day!

dawnybobs - Monday, 24 Mar
aaah like the new profile photo! I know what you mean about wanting them to sleep through the night but at the same time being aware that time does fly so fast and this is our last baby so we should be making the most of it! last night rudy was awake from 8.30 till midnight i reckon he had the gripes - i had given infacol the previous night just the once on his night feed but that was it so as from this morning i will give the infacol before every feed , hes so noisy when he sleeps all grunts and groans and whines which makes me think he has the gripes? he did had a feed and 2 and 6 and went straight back to sleep which i was happy with i can handle him having a wakeful period before midnight its when its in the middle of the night that its a killer , did you have much snow yesterday?? iain took the boys out in the garden and by the time they came in it had all gone!x

morning, wow we had a great night last night thanks to a soother bear (i forgot i had it i dont remembe rusing it with donny think i bought it from nct sale when he was too old to appreciate it) its one of them besrs that plays mums womb/heartbeat sounds! we also bought him a dummy (dont know if you anti/pro dummys) but to me they are bloody sanity savers!! i had decided that i would just give him the dummy overnight if he was struggling to settle after night feeds (which he had been- the night before last he seemed to be awake between 1.30 and 5am- he had been sleeping but as soon as he went back in basket hed wake) but last night he fed at 11.30, 1.30 and then went till 5 (as everytime hed stir id just press on the bear) and he then woke just after 8, i dont remmeber giving him the dummy ? ....anyway i woke up this morning with a smile on my face!! just waiting for midwife then i want to take our 1st little walk into town! big kiss for wes X

dawnybobs - Monday, 17 Mar
hi lisa, well hes just had a feed and is now sleeping on my shoulder- he really doesnt know day from night so im making an effort today to whenever he opens his eyes to be really chatty to him etc i remember doing that with the boys, i dont know how long i'll last on the boob its sooo tempting to give him a bottle but cant as dont have any milk! maybe ill give him a week or 2 then introduce bottle at bedtime.... wow wes getting big ...what are his sleeping hours over night??...x

dawnybobs - Monday, 17 Mar
hiya - thanks for your message of congratulations! as you can imagine it is very hectic in the Parr household at the moment - with Rudy's breast feeding my main priority (hmmm seems pretty constant but my milk has now come in so I look like Dolly Parton so he should be getting the good stuff now) - I have added my birth story to the bit that says RUDY JOHN PARR (not Rudy - need to delete that profile when i figure out how!) anyway I will be in touch on a more personal note as soon as i feel human again.. but right now I am trying to sleep when Rudy sleeps and hes sleeping now (he has been awake all night almost passed 2 nights since we got home - thats because hes very mucusy because of the speed of delivery he wasnt eble to clear his lungs in birth canal)so i am off to bed!! take care and keep in touch my friend xxx

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Monday, 17 Mar
So, were they right on with the estimate of the weight of your little man, before he was born?
Yes, I know, I remarried too, in 2004, after four kids with my first husband, I was not planning on anymore, then I met Shayne, and he was told he couldn't have children, and we had unprotected sex for a long time, a few years before I had Jaedon, what a surprise! I am really fertile, my husband just has to hang his trousers on the door and I am pregnant, lol.
I am so happy for you though, a quick delivery is what I am planning for. Can I ask you one thing, though?
How was the labour, did you end up in shock?

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Sunday, 16 Mar
Wow, you had a quick delivery! I read your birth story, I am so jealous, I have always had long labours.
Thanks for getting in touch with me, it was so neat to here from you.
Yes, I am so over the moon to be having another girl, that will even up the odds a bit, lol!
congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! he is so cute!
Hugs Niki
