Thursday 17th January

Ive reached my due date !! no sign of baby though, yet. I decided to clear my page and get ready for the new arrival. He could arrive any day. I went to see the consultant yesterday and she agreed to induce me. If this baby hasnt arrived by Sunday ill be going in hospital.

Wednesday 23rd January - 2 days old

Well I didnt go into labour on my own and Sunday morning contacted Delivery Unit to go in for induction. I arrived at the maternity hospital at 2pm and was told that they wouldnt be able to start the induction due to the unit being absolutely chocka and no staff to look after me. So a dissappointed me came home. I was told to phone back the next morning. I got up again at 6.30am to phone the Delivery Unit and was told again that they were still busy but I would be contacted around lunchtime to be told the situation. At 10.35am I had a phone call, my nerves started to kick in. I was allowed to go into hospital for around 1ish so I could have this baby. After arriving at the hospital and being shown to one of the delivery rooms, lots of general questions were asked about the pregnancy. The doctor came in and said that the best way to get labour started would be to break my waters. At 3.15pm my waters were broken and the midwife said I was 3cm dialated. The contractions started and went from nothing to 2mins apart almost straight away. I had lots of pain in my back and ended up walking round the delivery room. My babys heartbeat had to be constantly monitored but some places in the delivery room the signal was lost as I was wearing a wireless monitor. I settled leaning against the hand basin. After an hour it was getting hard to 'blow' away the contractions and I said to the midwife I had the urge to push she said if I needed to push then push, so with the next contraction I was pushing and after 25mins my baby was born while I was standing up at 4.55pm weighing 9lbs exactly. I already had a canula in the back of my hand because of the antibiotics I needed for the group b strep I had during pregnancy and I was connected to a drip as soon as my baby was born just because of the risk of a heavy bleed. I am just so relieved that Wesley arrived safely and am over the moon that he is finally here, even if it was an very quick delivery !

Tuesday 29th January - 8 days old

Well my little man is getting on really well. The midwife came Saturday and did the heel prick, i hate seeing them have this done but its all part of the postnatal care. I asked for Wes to be weighed too, i was warned that he mite have lost a little but i didnt care i just wanted to know. As it happened he had already started to gain it was only an ounce but the midwife said that was good for 5 days. The Health Visitor is calling on Thursday so hopefully he will be weighed again and then the midwife is calling again on the 7th Feb. Im hoping that ill be discharged on the 7th.

Friday 8th February - 18 days old

Midwife came for the final time yesterday which was like omg now this baby is mine all mine with no-one interfering any more or telling me how to care for him. Where has the last 2 1/2 weeks gone. I cant believe my lil man is nearly 3 weeks old. Its just not fair ! however when I was in town earlier there was lots of preggie women walking about and I dont envy them one little bit. At my postnatal check at 6 weeks im guna ask to be sterilised again I absolutely, definately do not want any more children. Im getting too old for this shit !! lol. I asked the midwife to weigh him before she went and Wes has put on 1lb since he has been born which I dont think is that bad. Ill be takin my lil man to the baby clinic weekly to have him weighed and there is always a Health Visitor about if I have any concerns.

Tuesday 19th February - 4 weeks 1 day old

My little fella is doing really well, he now weighs 10lbs 12oz. I think hes going to have blue eyes and dark hair even though hes nearly bald on top. Last weeks picture I posted, Wes looks like my hubby and my youngest son when he was the same age but now hes looking more like me, but then all my children look like my side of the family, I just must have the better genes, lol. I also found out the weekend before last that im going to be a nanna in July not planned, not expected, but im absolutely over the moon. My lil man will only be 5 and a half months old and he will be an uncle !! awwww bless.

Tuesday 26th February - 5 weeks 1 day old

Weighed Wes again yesterday, hes now 11lb 10z. His 6 week check is Thursday next week so he will be weighed again then. While I was at the drop in clinic yesterday, I noticed a poster on the wall about how often you should have your baby weighed. It said that babies under 6 months should be weighed every fortnight and babies over 6 months should be weighed once a month. I think this is a bit off they, the Health Visitors - or whoever it is that makes these rules, shouldn't have a say. I think its down to the parent to decide how often they have their baby weighed. I know that with my others they were weighed every week until I couldn't be bothered to go to the baby clinic any more.

Saturday 8th March - 6 weeks 5 days old

Wes had his 6 week check on Thursday, all went well and he now weighs 11lbs 6 and a half ounces. I had my 6 week postnatal check aswell yesterday. Ive asked to be sterilised again. My doctor has referred me to Hinchingbrooke hospital as there is a consultant there that is willing to do it. My local hospital, Addenbrookes, wont entertain me as they say theres too much cost involved in women sterilisation and prefer women to have the implant or the coil fitted, even with 6 children they wont do it. I explained to the doctor that this is it and I wasnt wishing to have anymore children, besides im going to be a nanna in July so the doctor said that was another good enough reason to have it done. I rang yesterday to arrange a consultant appointment and had conformation through the post this morning. Its on Friday 28th March, so not long. Im hoping it will be the same with the waiting list for surgery too.

Tuesday 18th March - 8 weeks 1 day old

Wes is growing so fast he now weighs 12lb 4oz. I just want him to be all grown up - well at least a little older than he is. Ive realised im not cut out for looking after a baby, im finding it really hard work especially the night feeds. I thought it would be good to have another baby and dont get me wrong I wouldnt change anything for the world but if I knew it would really be like this ( not that i didnt know as I already had 5 but every baby is different ) I perhaps would have had second thoughts. I dont get much time to myself in the day as Wes is more awake than asleep so trying to grab 5 mins shut eye is impossible. Youd think that with Wes being awake all that time during the day, he would sleep well at night, nah that dont happen either. The Health Visitor is calling on Thursday to do a postnatal questionaire thingy, I think its to assess if I have depression or not, so i think ill have a word and see what she can suggest.

Monday 24th March - 9 weeks old

The Health Visitor came last Thursday to do a postnatal depression assessment on me and to check Wes aswell. He measures 58 and a half centimeters in height and has a head circumference of 42 cm. As I had him weighed last Monday I said it would be pointless to do it again. The Health Visitor said that Wes was just taking an interest in everything, basically being nosey !, thats why he hardly sleeps in the day and that he could be weaned at 4 months instead of 6. This Wednesday Wes has his first lot of immunisations :( hurray for calpol :)

hmm well they reckon breast fed babies dont get colic? but then i didnt manage to feed mine for long i gave up... i think when i had joe Infacol had been taken off the market so he had this watery stuff Greenwoods??? or something it was like gripe water but with donny (the youngest) we used infacol i used to just give it before every food (especially the night feed) or can you add it to bottle that sounds familiar? the feeding chair i for for the nursery is just a little rattan one i dont have room for anything bigger either!!! its not the most comfy of things but i have thrown a sheepskin rug over it for comfort!... why is that they come awake at night???? they sleep all day then ch ching at midnight they are all open eyed and looking at you with big loving eyes!!! aaah i am looking forward to it but at the same time dreading it!.... with both of my boys the hospital wouldnt even allow me to give them a bottle???? dont know why! i really wanted to with donny as he wouldnt feed and i wanted to go home!

hiya... thank heavens for Infacol eh!!?? god I kept them in business with my boys - dont you think though that all babies tend to get wind after about a week?? my boys both did coz i remember when i brought them home having a few nights like you expect but then BANG suddenly they get really colicy and wont settle (this is normally about 11.45 when you are shattered and cant keep your eyes open and they are wide awake and having none of it!) aaaah i remember the dreading heel prick though i cried both times as my boys did ! Ive been over ikea today to buy a cheap chair to put in nursery for when im doing the night feeds - whilst im breast feeding i'll have him in room with me in his crib so will feed in a bed but once hes in own room I thought id better get somewhere to sit and feed!

mondays child is fair at face so they say (me and my youngest are a mondays child!!) yes i meant he looks like he has dark hair and eyes! so being 9lbs does that mean hes too big for newborn clothes?

dawnybobs - Saturday, 19 Jan
I hope i dont go over but you never know?! my eldest was induced 4 days early as i had hormone/pregnancy rash it took 2 days and 4 lots of pessarys - id say i was in pain from 6pm but had him at 1.30am so not bad with the 2nd i went 11 days over so was induced and i guess he was ready as i had pessary at 3ish had pains from about 5pm and had him at 7.10pm so i reckon if you end up going in to be induced as he is overdue and as he is your6th it really shouldnt take too long at all to kick in and do the trick! so although I think being induced is good as i think it does speed up labour I would love to know what it feels like to go into labour naturally and i'm interested into whether my labout would be just as good or were mine only good due to the inductions???!! I packed 2 bags yesterday 1 for baby and 1 for me just with towell, nightie, pads and shower gel in i know its early but i thought well you never know!!

dawnybobs - Saturday, 19 Jan
hiya, the only reason my abs were so good was because I am a aerobics/pilates instructor so at the time that was taken I was teaching about 8 classes a week!... i was induced both time and they do say that it can speed up your labour so wouldnt necessarily be an accurate ?? cant think of the word but an accurate idea of how your labour would be if you went into labour naturally - so i think in a way although i want to go into labour on my own i am a bit worried in case i have a 24 hour labour where as when i was induced with the boys (particularly my 2nd) i had a very quick delivery !
