Just found out today i'm going to be having my baby on Thursday 13th September by elective c-section!!!!

Very happy i have a date, but now i have a full 10 days for the panic to really set in!

3rd September 2007

I started having contractions at about 5:30pm, and they were quite painful, every 7 minutes, so i went to the hospital at about 9:30 and went to the labour ward. Basically after loads of messing about, i was told that although the contractions wern't strong, they were going to keep me in overnight and give me a c-section today. I was told "you will be having your baby in this hospital admission" i was told not to worry, etc etc and someone would be round in the morning to let me know the time of the op. I spent the whole night fretting and worrying and then at 9:40am, the consultant came to see me and said "your contactions have stopped, you can go home and come back in a week to my clinic". part of me was so relieved, but i was angry at the same time. I explained i was told i would be having my baby today, and he just laughed at me and said "that would never happen". What the hell is wrong with these people? why does every doctor/nurse/midwife tell you something different? Anyway, a minute later, the midwife came over and told me i had to walk over to the ante natal clinic for a growth scan of the baby, and then go to see the consultant again straight after the scan, so he can see if the baby is big, and sould be delivered by c-section. I stuggled thru the hospital grounds with 3 heavy bags my dad had bought in the night before for me, as obviously i was told i was having the baby today. I had the growth scan, and the sonographer estimated the baby is between 6lb 3 - 8lb 3, so basically it's either small or big, so as you can tell, the scan seemed pretty pointless. Then i went over to the consultant and after a wait of about an hour, was then called in and saw a lady who wasn't the same consultant i had seen earlier...oh well...anyway, by this point i was fed up, tired and basically pissed off at being treated like i was an inconvienience - almost like i was faking my pregnancy and had no right to be there or ask any questions. Anyway, i was quite firm in there, about all the different things i had been told and so on, so she ended up booking me a c-section for 13th september. I'm really scared and just want it over with. Although i am eternally grateful for the NHS in England, and truely appreciate the fact that it doesn't cost you anything to bring in a sick child for treatment, or to have a baby, i have decided that if i ever get pregnant again, i am going to save up and go private, because all this continual conflicting information and lots of unecessary tests just makes your anxiety levels so high, and thats the last thing you need.
Also, last night i was given the most horrificly painful blood test ever. I am very funny about blood tests as it is, so was already nervous, but the midwife came at me with the biggest, thickest needle, that seemed to have no point on it and looked like it was encased in plastic tubing and i immediately started crying my eyes out. She also put a big gauze pad underneath my arm, so i knew this was no ordinary blood test. She then proceeded to push this enourmous needle into a tiny vein on my hand and the pain was unbearable, i could feel her pushing it deeper and deeper down and i was screaming and crying and begging her to take it out. My mum was holding my hand and telling me not to look. Then the midwife said "oh poor thing, your hand's swelling up" and i though what the bloody hell do you expect. When she took the needle out there was blood everywhere, running down my hand and all over the gauze and i was still sobbing, and my God did my hand hurt. It's still swollen today and bruising is now appearing. And the worst thing of all? i asked another midwife today why my blood was taken like that and she said she had no idea, as no drip was put in my hand or IV tube and that i should've just had a normal blood test. I'm telling you, i wanted to scream! Anyway, enough of all that, i'm back home now and just want to really relax and spend as much time with my boyfriend and little girl before the big day. Will keep you all posted!

i'm having a girl!

Hi, i am 27 years old from London England. I have a 5 yr old daughter called Annalise Brooke and am 31 weeks pregnant with my second child, with my partner of 2 yrs (it's another girl!) I hope to call her Madison, but have yet to convince daddy!

Found out i was pregnant at around 4 weeks, so it's seemed like forever to get to 31 weeks! Had severe nausea up until 8 weeks, but amazingly wasn't actually sick, and still haven't been sick! having trouble sleeping now i'm so big, and also have restless arms and legs at night which is a nightmare. Can't wait til the baby girl comes, my Annalise is soooo excited and we are just waitng for her arrival. Am trying to get everything prepared, but it's hard when you have what feels like an enourmous beach ball inside you!!!!

Am trying to upload photos, but am waiting for my boyfriend to help me

27th july

Been in hospital as i have had a very weird uncomfortable pain in my stomach on the upper right hand side. The skin feels numb and i was getting really worried. Doctor gave me blood tests to see if it was my liver, but thankfully they came back negative. The only thing they can think of is that i could have gallstones, but there's nothing they can do until i've had the baby. Very scared now.....i have a scan on 6/8 to see what they can see, but it seems so far away. When i bend over it feels like something is catching, which isn't very nice. Good thing though is that the baby is moving as usual, and her heart beat was fine. I wish she could come out now, as the worry is killing me, but i now it's still too early, she has to cook for a bit longer!!!

I've just decorated my big girls room and set up the baby's cot in there, so she can feel closer to her sister, and i'm making the room really girly for my two girls!

My iron is still really low at 9.9 (was 8.7), but obviously the iron tabs are working, but i still feel pretty drained and tired, but hopefully i'll feel better soon.

take care everone, will write more soon xPregnancy Survey

30th july

A quick update. I went to the hospital at midnight last night as i was in a lot of pain with that bit under my ribs. Luckily i was seen really quick, and the doctor pressed sooooo hard on the pain, it was awful, anyway, it was concluded that it is muscle pain, it appears i've torn a ligament and it won't heal til baby comes. I was so relieved, as it means it's probably not my gall bladder, although i still have to go for the scan to be completely sure. The other amazing thing is that both the doctor and the midwife think i am 36-38 weeks along, going by the height of the fundus. They said i was huge for 32 weeks and was i sure my dates were right!!? Well, i am sure of my dates, it's probably going to be another big baby (my first, Annalise, was 9.10!!!)

Anyway, hope everyone is ok, good luck to you all

Just a question, does anyone else keep sending messages to themselves? i get a new message from someone and end up typing the reply in my own box, then i see i have another message and i think ooooh they replied quick, and it's bloody me sending it to myself.......

August 9th

Wow! i am 34 weeks today! it's taken so long to get here and i've still got 6 weeks to go! Last night i had the most vivid dream ever that i gave birth to a baby boy by c section, and i named him George (?) . I hate to say this, but i was soooo dissapointed it wasn't a girl, even though a boy was what i originally wanted. I kept thinking, oh well i'll try again for another girl, it's partly because last night i was looking through all the adorable little pink and lilac things i have, and all the cute girly shoes, and thinking God, imagine it turned out to be a boy! I was also jogging on the spot and attempting cartwheels in my dream cos i was so happy not to be pregnant any more!

Is anyone else getting period like pains and loads of Braxton Hicks???

1st September 2007

Well i have two more days to go till i have my consultants appointment, where he is most likely to give me a date for a scheduled c-section (i was told this by a midwife and his registrar) due to the size of this bubba and my previous emergancy c-section. I have been getting really intense Braxton Hicks and period pains for about two weeks now.

I am excited but also terrified. My actual due date is 20th September, so does anyone know if they schedule you in for a c-section early?

I can't wait to be able to bend over and put my shoes on (and take them off) my boyfriend or daughter have to do this for me!!!

I just can't wait to finally see this baby that's been inside me for 9 months, and already has her own personality and looks, it's so weird!

Anyway, hopefully not to long until we get to meet

Hi, I am on Prozac and my doctor and i waited as long as possible before i started taking the pills. I went on 10mg once a day when i was 7 1/2 months along, and then about a week after i had my baby it got increased to 20mg once a day. My doctor told me that antidepressents can cause heart defects, breathing problems, jitteryness, and other issues. So thats why i waited as long as possible, and they didnt know the long term effects of breastfeeding while on antidepressents, and i didnt want to take the chance that they would mess my daughters developement up so i choose to do formula. But my daughter is perfectly healthy, the prozac didnt affect her at all while i was pregnant so im happy.
