sorry for the late reply. Im not sure if my daughter has conjunctivitis or blocked tear ducts. she was not in pain for it. the doctor gave her antibiotics for two weeks in case their was an infection... after that he told me to clean her eyes with sterile swabs and warm water or tea (I use breastmilk as drops and I think it works good). he also told me to massage the sides of her nose in case its blacked tear ducts. Im going back this week.

hope your son is doing fine.

Call your doctor and tell him you got a little nervous by what the ultrasound person told you - and tell him that she didnt explain to you what it means that there is an increase in the amniotic fluid. I'm sure they will help you as it isnt nice to be nervous when pregnant.

I wish you all the best!

maybabiesr4me - Wednesday, 23 April
The doctor will just watch the amt of fluid. If it's too much they may have to drain some. If they don't watch the fluid levels, then your uterus can get too stretched and have difficulty contracting after delivery. I know someone who had to have a hysterectomy because of this right after her first baby. There may be other risks for the baby. But the good news is your ultrasound tech is watching it and alerting your doctor to the situation. If they monitor it, you should be fine.

thats great that things are going well for you. Yeah not eating chocolate is a killer! But that is why I probably landed up with gd to begin with. :) Anyway, my fasting number has been high so I am on insulin. I cant give myself an shot - just cant do it - so hubby does it every night for me. I have to go twice a week now for nsts (non stress tests) where they make sure the baby is not stressed, I am not contracting and check on the amniotic fluid. So far so good - all is well. I am 34 half weeks so looking forward to getting to term so I dont have to worry anymore. Keep up the good work!

GD isnt the end of the world. There are worse conditions out there. It is basically your placenta and body not making enough insulin to break down glucose (sugars ) in your body. Basically I was given a nutritional diet by a nutritionist, and told to test my glucose levels (by pricking finger with a special machine) 4 times a day. If you keep your numbers low then no effects on the baby or you. So it isnt the end of the world - good luck and keep me posted as to what happened. Also if you need help, I am here :)

aubreyd08 - Friday, 28 Mar
I just read your comment about gestational diabetes. I was diagnosed with GD about 3 weeks ago. What I had to do was see a licensed dietician who basically told me to cut out a lot of carbs (am allowed about 50 per meal) and to cut out sweets. Then I had to see an Endocronolgist (a diabetes specialist) who basically showed me how to prick my finger 4 times a day and instructed me to fax my blood sugar results once a week and to follow the diet. So far my bloods results have been pretty good (a little high once in a while - but not too bad) and I haven't really changed my diet too drastically... oh - remember there's sugar free ice cream! I was devistated when I thought I had to cut it out!!!

Good luck!

Hi, yes, it sometimes feels like my baby want to get out through my belly button, I can't say that it's painfull but it sure is uncomfortable, aspecially when I'm busy talking to people and all of a sudden he starts clawing at my belly button!!

melissa-s - Thursday, 28 Feb

Hi, yes i feel as if the babys foot going to come through my stomach sometimes! I have heard from a few people they have been recieving bruising!!!!!!

christinarose - Wednesday, 13 Feb
I have had the same kind of leaking for the past week or so! I think it's normal, but it doesn't happen to everyone. In 'What to Expect' it says it's called colostrum, the premilk. I thought it was kind of weird too but I guess this all just comes with the territory! Congrats on your little boy, and I hope everything goes great!

havinababyinmay - Tuesday, 5 Feb
Tell him everyone registers! They want to know what you need!Men are so funny sometimes.

tieshia84 - Tuesday, 5 Feb

melliebellie - Tuesday, 5 Feb
wow, i really hope you're able to talk him into registering! unless it's different in au than here that is the whole point of the shower. plus people are really going to want to get you stuff and it helps so much for them to know what you need. plus it's so much fun!

CONGRATS

madamsoftbottom - Thursday, 13 Dec
Hi Lisa!
well I am not certain of how they do it in Australia but over here, you have the epidural from about 5cm dilated till either right at the pushing stage or until after the placenta is delivered. Most hospitals in the US do not use a catheter and I have never heard of one being used for longer than the duration of labor itself.
But that may be a difference in the medical system between here and where you are. I would talk to your practitioner.
they have gotten most ladies down to a 24-48 hour stay int he hospital following a routine vag delivery, and most prefer you urinate and move your bowels ASAP after delivery just to monitor normal function and etc.
The short answer to your question though is NO, that is not routine to the best of my knowledge.

niseybear - Wednesday, 12 Dec
I had an epidural and I did have a catheter and I was up and about 45 minutes after giving birth. I was only moving about 2 miles an hour LOL but I was moving. I find it hard to believe that someone had a catheter in for 3 days after having an epidural. You'll be fine, don't worry.

mamagarces - Wednesday, 12 Dec
i had an epidural with the birth of my daughter. i did not have to have a catheter... after the birth of my daughter, they removed the epidural, and within half an hour, i was standing up, taking a shower.
don't let other people's horror stories scare you.
there are more positive stories out there than negative, but people only seem to want to share the negative...
wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy, and baby! :)

google fetal pole and you'll be surprised at what you find. Everything that I have read states not to worry regarding a fetal pole until you are 8 weeks along. Keep me updated on how your u/s goes this week. Good luck!
