Benjamin Raymon Bruner is finally here!!
Ben was born Dec. 30 2007 at 11:33 pm. Hubby and I were out to dinner for our anniversary when I went into labor. Kept denying this was the real thing because we were scheduled for our c-section Dec. 31! So we finished dinner, me having worsening contraction every 5 minutes all the way through!By the time we left the restaurant I could hardly walk the contractions were so bad so we went to the hospital. I was progressing so they decided our little guy would be born right then and there.
The neonatologist was there for the section and examined our baby immediately after he was born. No apparent fractures, baby was breathing fine, everything seemed perfect. We were so relieved! Ben had an x-ray the next morning (about 8 hrs. old) to check for any fractures. None were found but they saw he does not have any collar bones! I was like what the heck??!! The dr. also said the sutures in his head are not closed, his fontanels are VERY wide (very mushy little head). He is diagnosed with Cleidocranial Dysostosis. Very scary word but not at all scary diagnosis.
Basically Ben does not have collar bones which apparently is not a big deal at all, They said it's like your appendix, you don't even need them. His head bones should close, they will just take alot longer then normal. Also the main thing with this disorder is dental problems so Ben will be seeing alot of the dentist! The drs. do NOT think he has brittle bone!!!! I am so relieved to hear that. We are still going to have him tested but so far NO signs of brittle bone at all. We are so grateful that God let him have this non-complicated diagnosis instead of brittle bone.
I am 21 and pregnant with my first baby! We are so excited!! Mike and I were married Dec. 30 2006 and our due date is Jan. 4 2008...it's gonna be an anniversary present! We are having a baby boy-- name is Benjamin Raymond.
We have had a level II ultrasound b/c our first saw markers for down syndrome. The level II showed no markers for Downs, but Dr. is suspecting a skeletal dysplasia because of these findings: short arms and legs, some thin skull bones, ribs look a little short.
There's nothing else wrong w/ baby!! Organs are fine, spine is fine, brain looks fine. I just can't believe that there could be a skeletal dysplasia--usually other organs are affected and the bones are bowed or fractured. Bens aren't.
I would really appreciate any feedback if anyone else has had similar ultrasound findings. I can't stop thinking about it.
Week 26
After 2 more level II ultrasounds, dr. is saying he thinks the baby has brittle bone disease type I, which is mild. The frustrating thing is that he isn't definitely saying it' mild until after our Oct. 30 ultrasound which will confirm a mild or more sever diagnosis. I'm so nervous right now! As long as there are no fractured bones and the chest circumference has continued to be normal, then it's mild. We definitely have to have a c-section though which I am scared to death about. So I'm on pins and needles right now till we have our next ultrasound.
~*~*~These pics are from our wedding December 30 2006. We did a Christmas theme and it turned out so pretty! ~*~*~

MY NEW HAIR!
I dyed my hair..I've never been dark but my hair was naturally turning dark anyway. Plus hubby's always wanted my hair darker so I figured what the heck!

Bens Nursery Set
We're doing an animal theme...this is the bedding we bought. I can't wait to put it into our actual nursery!! I'm also painting 4 tiles: a lion, elephant, monkey, and giraffe and I'll put pics up of those when they're done! Well, got one tile done--here's the lion!!

Week 27
I had my 3 hour glucose test today...it actually took 4 hours b/c first they had to draw my blood and then wait for the results to come back before they gave me the drink. It was so not fun. Thankfully darling hubby came with me and drove me immediately to Arbys afterwards! I'll hear the results tomorrow....yikes! It's been a good week so far though. I can not believe that I'm going to have my son here in only 11 wks. (c-section will be dec. 31 or Jan 2 or 3.) It's unreal to think I have less than 3 months left. I can't wait to see him!!!!
Oct. 15--I found out today I passed the 3 hr test...yay! I've been having braxton hicks contractions pretty bad the past couple of days. Gosh, I can't imagine real ones!!
