Hi, i'm Mary Anne I've been with Steven for 11yrs, engaged for 8yrs we've just never made it down the aisle. In June 2004 i miscarried about 7wks into pregnancy and i'm sure i don't have to tell you how devestating that was. Surprisingly and Thankfully i fell pregnant very quickly and on 10th June 2005 our beautiful daughter Aimee was born. I am now expecting again and I'm due March 08. I had a bleed at 11wks which really freaked us out, thankfully an emergancy scan showed a heartbeat and date scan a wk later showed baby jumping about and waving.

3/10/07

Saw my own midwife today for the 1st time and heard baby's heartbeat for the 1st time too. It took a while and she had to change machines but she found it.I was really starting to worry the longer it was taking to find it cause i've was so sure i've felt little flutters for the past week. It was a strong heartbeat of 157. Also midwife changed my dates so instead of 21/03/08 i'm now due 18/03/08 which is the date i thought from the start i don't know why midwife i saw when i booked in thought that date.

I had emergancy section with Aimee and had loads of problems afterwards. It was 3months before i was discharged from district nurse care. My scar opened and i had to go back into hospital when Aimee was only 10days old for a blood transfusion. Steven got thrown in at deep end cause he was left holding the baby. I had drips in each hand so there was no way of me dealing with Aimee too. I think I'm prob goin to go with the elective section this time, I'm so worried about labouring and ending up with one anyway that i think i could be more prepared for it if i know thats whats happening and recovery from elective seems so much better than from emergancy.

If anyone has any views on this i'd love to hear them.

5/11/07

Had 20wk scan and everything going great, Baby got larger than average legs and big feet. I'm not sure when i'm due now, sonographer dated me as 21/3/08. I see my own midwife on 14/11/07 so hopefully she'll clarify, it's only a few days of difference but i want to know for sure!! We took Aimee with us and Baby was waving to her, she was really excited by it all and can't wait to be a big sister. We didn't ask the sex of the baby as it's the last baby we plan to have so it's the last surprise we'll get. I'm convinced it's another girl but that's because that's what i know. As long as it's healthy i really don't care.

We didn't ask what we're having, we're waiting for the surprise!
10th Dec
Midwife in agreement with me Date definatley 18th March.
02/01/2008
BABY'S COMING ON 12/03/2008
I've been booked for a section on the 12th March. I'll be 39wks and 1day.
We're all so excited. 10wks today!!!!
03/01/2008
I'm getting worried about leaving Aimee for 4 or 5 days, She'll stay with Nana & Papa the night before and they'll bring her to hospital at visting on the 12th. Steven going to meet them outside and he'll bring her in though because i don't want her walking into room seeing the 3 of us and she's a visitor i really want her to feel part of it. My mum will go for a coffee for a half hr to give us time being the 4 of us.
I've tried to explain to Aimee that i have to go to hospital to have the baby and she'll stay with daddy, but she says NO she's coming with me.
I've bought a book called Mummy's having a baby so now that all the Christmas and New Year celebrations are over we're going to make that her new bedtime book, hopefully if we read it often enough she'll have a bit more understanding. I'm sure it'll break my heart more than hers being apart.
When i had Aimee, Steven was at the hospital all day every day and he could be again but kids only allowed at visiting and i really don't want Aimee feeling like she been bombed out and getting sent away to Nana's or Gran's to allow him to come out. Maybe i'll get a good rest ready for the chaos that will descend when get home. I'm so excited now that we know when it's coming and i'm glad we didn't find out the sex of the baby it'll be a wonderful surprise seen as we know when it's coming.
Names - Emily Anne or Aaron Jacob
Haven't made any definate decision on middle names but def goin with Emily or Aaron.

20th Feb 2008

3 weeks to go!

I can't believe 3weeks today and i'll be a mum of 2, we'll be a family of 4. Aimee's getting really excited now and wants the baby out now. I've been so sore recently and i'm all strapped up with support belts, turning round in bed is such an effort and i'm so glad now i am going in a wk early for a section. I've put on 4stone (56lbs), Aaaarrggh!!! I put on 5&half st last time and i was a stone heavier when i fell pregnant this time so i'm only 7lbs away from weight i was before Aimee born. I need to get a fitness plan sorted because if Steven and I are going to make it official this year and get married i want to do it looking and feeling like me!

25th March

Emily Anne arrived on 12th March 2008 at 9.32am she weighed 6lb 12oz and was 49cm long she is an absolute gem and Aimee adores her. We get no kisses anymore because she has to keep them all for Emily.

I feel a little bit sad now this pregnancy is over because i'll never do it again. It's a funny feeling, you will the pregnancy to end so you can meet your little one then are sad it's over. I'm delighted to have two beautiful girls and so is my partner - everyone is asking if we'll try for a boy but we're happy with what we've got. Two healthy adorable girls and the decision had always been made to stop at 2.

I was sick, but not this sick! I am hoping I only have a few weeks left of feeling like this! You are almost half way there, huh? What week did you deliver Aimee in? I had Alexis at 38 weeks, so am hoping this baby comes early too b/c I don't like being pregnant. I know this sounds bad, but I would like an ice cold beer right about now! :)

Hey-
I am home now! I am feeling better, but still not great. Can't wait to be in the 2nd trimester as I'm sure I will feel better by then. My nan has bought the barley sweets and ginger tea, so I can't wait for her to get here! :) Thanks for checking on me. Hope you are doing well.

i thought your message was very true mary anne. my hubby and i need to take sometime out for ourselves. i'm working on dealing with my feelings but i feel like there is a mental block. i want to let it out but i can't seem to reach the release valve. yesterday i was watching a comedy to try to at least laugh cause i've been feeling a little like a zombie...i started laughing at a really funny part when in between the laughter i started to sob, it shocked me when i realized what i was doing and immediately stopped. i want to let it out but i can't. last year, immediately after i delivered preston, as in five minutes after, my mom came into my hospital room to see me and she got scared cause i smiled at her and said 'it's alright mom..it's all over now'. she thought i had gone off the deep end, that i was having a mental breakdown. it wasn't until the morning after i was released from the hospital that i started sobbing and begging her to bring him back. i couldn't touch or look at my belly for days afterwards. a shrink later told me that i was in shock and had a delayed reaction. i'm wondering if i'm having the same reaction again.

Hi Mary Anne--
I am going to the doctor tomorrow and if they don't offer any help, I am going to the hospital. I've been terribly sick all day today. I started researching severe morning sickness and there is a form of it called hypermesis gravidium. There was a check list and I said yes to every thing on the list. The scariest part is it said severe hypermesis leads to your body going into a state of ketosis. My husband bought me some ketone test strips and I am off the charts! I am in a severe state of ketosis. I am worried and if my doc gives me the you can wait it out line one more time, I am going straight to the hosptial! Thanks for your tips. I am sending a list to my nan. I feel so horrible, but am glad to have you to talk to! Alexis slept in her own bed last night too--she woke up 3 times, but everytime ended back up in her bed! Stupid dog kept barking for some reason and waking all of us up! I've missed work again today and at this rate will be fired! Wish me luck! Thanks again!

I know the feeling! Its funny how they conveniently don't hear a crying baby but we do. My husband is such a faker! :) Thanks for all your tips. I had a meltdown earlier. I am so sick of being sick. I talked to my mom and she's heard of the barley sweets. She said that was a great idea. I just wish my nan would hurry up and get here! write me up a little list of suggestions and I'll send onto her! Thanks!!!!!! Hope you are sleeping right now! :)

kay17 - Monday, 1 Oct
Thanks! Hugging you from afar! Something about stuff from home always makes me feel better. I need my mom to come and take care of me! She lives an hour away :( Have a good night's sleep! If you can :)

kay17 - Monday, 1 Oct
I REALLY need it, I can't believe I have to go to work tomorrow :( Oh god. I am already dreading the 1.5 hour drive in traffic to get there not to mention the 8 hours of work! Sorry for being so pathetic! :(

kay17 - Monday, 1 Oct
I'm googling now, but mine Nan is coming over next week for my brother's wedding so I am getting her to bring me some. I just e-mailed her. Are there any other UK remedies you know of? Thanks--I owe you one!

kay17 - Sunday, 30 Sep
what are barley sugars? I am googling! I will try anything. I've been sick again all afternoon. I want to go the hospital and get hooked up to an IV until I feel better! :( Thanks for the tip!

kay17 - Sunday, 30 Sep
I've heard morning sickness is more prominent with girls, so if that's true I've got twin girls in there! ;) That's why I thought you might be having a boy. What's the weather like there at the moment. Its finally starting to cool down here, but we haven't had any rain in ages! Its terrible. All of my plants look so bad! Alexis is my little girl and I was thinking last night...she was great when we had her in a crib. As soon as she could get out of bed, that's when we started having probs. I feel bad, but need to buckle down and follow the Super Nanny's advice. When baby 2 comes, we won't have room for 2 kids in our bed! Let me know if you find any tricks that work and I will you. I just got sick again, this time is so bad. Pray I get over this soon. Its really starting to get to me.

I did find out last time. My husband is very inpatient. I'd rather not know, so I thought well he can find out and it will be a suprise to me, but I can read him like the back of my hand, so its useless. The good thing about finding out is that I can have the room ready for a boy or girl. I would rather wait and have the suprise though. I like the pickled onion, roast beef and hot ones. We don't have any good flavors over here. Boring like BBQ :( I've never gotten the courage up to try haggis, but I do like some weird foods from England like cockles and jellied eels :) Making me gag right now thinking of food though b/c I am so ill! You are so lucky not to be sick. Maybe you are having a boy this time b/c your symptoms are different. I thought of you last night...my 3 year old crawled into bed with us at 2am, she is such a kicker, I got no sleep and ended up in her bed this am :)

kay17 - Saturday, 29 Sep
Yeah, its definitely rough taking care of a toddler, working full time and throwing up several times a day! Luckily, my husband is being great and has really stepped up to the plate. I moved to the USA when I was 5, so I've been here a while...I'm 30 in Dec :( Trying to hang onto the 20s while I can! Haha! :) I've read that second babies always make your tummy pop quicker, so I guess we fall into that category! :) I haven't gained any weight yet, but how can I when I can't even keep anything down! :) I gained 38lbs with my daughter, but that was a hard 38lbs to take off! I am hoping to gain less this time round, but its not really something I can control. Once I start eating and get over being sick, I can't stop! I've been craving Monster Munch crisps from the UK. Eat some for me! Are you going to find out if you are having a boy or girl? I'd rather it be a suprise this time around, but my hubby wants to know! So we are going to find out. Keep in touch!

kay17 - Saturday, 29 Sep
Hi there- This is my 2nd baby too and my little girl (3 years old) was 7lbs 7oz too! Good size baby! I am 10 weeks and very sick! I can't stop puking and hate the sight of any food! :( I was born in England, but now live in Atlanta, Georgia. Neat that you are from Scotland! I've been to Wales, but haven't visited Scotland yet. I've lost 15lbs from being so sick, but just like you my belly is sticking out quicker this time! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!
