*****Its A Little Girl!*****

Hi Ladies, This is my first pregnancy and im so far not really enjoying the sickness or sore boobs! Im starting to feel a bit exited about it but i know its still early days yet and anything can happen although im quietly confident everything will be ok! Ive yet to have a scan but i cant wait to see my baby! This baby wasent exactly planned but i count myself lucky because of the heartache other women go through. Time cant seem to go fast enough though! :)

Ok so i went to see my midwife the other day and shes told me that my uterus is measuring 26cm! im 22 weeks preggo and mesuring 1cm bigger than and average 25week persons belly, so at least now i know why i look so big and i know im not a freak, so for future reference no im not expecting twins and no im not further gone than i think, thanx :) x

Hi hun, yup i live in bournemouth! well your scan result is brilliant! no worries. CVS is what you have i think 10-13 weeks? where they insert a needle into womb take amniotic fluid out, test it for any chromosone abnormalities. risk of miscarrage tho when you have one. also you could say to your mum that they check health of baby and your concerned and wana make sure everythings tip top. have alook at this place to get idea on what they scan for www.fetalmedicine.com you'd be having an anomoly scan. they do 4d but its more about checking health of babies organs out take care xx

lea - Sunday, 27 April
Hi Natalie, your downs test result is good. so glad i didnt have to have a CVS test. can you get a family member to pay for it for you? they start at £110. had my brother in laws family here all wkd. they have 2 and one on the way so i have had all the advise on what to buy and what not to. just been buying some stuff on ebay! take care xx

Hi, Well sorry to hear you have to wait that long! My friend that works with me told me that she had an u/s at 11 weeks and she just asked the docter when they will schedule a 20 week scan and she told her she wasnt getting one!!! She said it wasnt medicaly needed! All women have one at 20 weeks...its so important, they can see alot of stuff!!!! OMG i am so mad at her docter. I will ask my doc on monday what my friend should do cuz thats not fair!!! Its her first baby and she realy also want to know boy or girl. Anyways i was more hoping for a boy then wanted a girl and then i didnt care. So now im pretty sure im having a boy but it doesnt matter. But i will tell ya if its a girl i will be shocked! I will be happy but its just that it feels the same as it did with my son. I will let ya know!

lea - Friday, 25 April
are you in the states? its seems that there are a few mothers who are having 22 week scans. I'm in the UK, NHS provide scans in most areas at 12 & 20 weeks but some counties only at 20 weeks with no 12 week scan. at least you will be sure of the sex by that point. i am having a private scan too at 21 weeks where they do more checks & i get 4d pics! my 12 week nhs scan came back with the downs test of 1:6250 risk whereas the private did more checks & the results were 1:8500 risk of downs syndrome. you can see why at 35 years old i wana check privately!!!

klasnaya - Wednesday, 23 April

I always wake up on my back as well. My doc said the newest studies say for pregnant woman to sleep how they are comfortable. I keep a pillow wedged under me a little so at the very least I'm not completely on my back!

mommy-allie - Wednesday, 23 April
i always sleep on my back too. ive heard not to but it doesnt bother me and im not big at all yet.

newmom08 - Wednesday, 23 April
Hey there, I saw your posting about the sleeping on your back thing and when I saw my doctor last Friday I asked the same question. He said that it is preferred that you sleep on your side (left first, then right) and then your back.. but later on in your pregnancy, your body will tell you if you can handle the back or not, because it might affect your breathing as the baby and fluid will push up against your lungs. He said it won't hurt the baby, but studies have shown that sleeping on your left side gets the best circulation to your placenta. Probably a guy who studied this one and made this decision!
Just be comfortable if you ask me! I still sleep on my back and have not had any issues!

rasl30 - Wednesday, 23 April
Oh yeah, the sleeping thing... I am always on my right side or back (they say to sleep on your left side)... I haven't noticed any discomfort yet so I won't worry too much about it till I feel something.
What a joy.....

rasl30 - Wednesday, 23 April
Having BraxtonHicks happen after sex wouldn't surprise me... if you orgasm, your uterus contracts... I've felt that a few times. If you don't like water, drink anything you can get down, juice, chocolate milk, whatever! I thought it was early for BH too, but I've had a few people tell me now that they got it as early as 14 weeks.
Things are going well for me... my hubbie felt the baby kick for the first time the other night, so that was super cool!
Hope your discomfort eases soon!!! Take care!

m0th3r2b - Wednesday, 23 April
I've been sleeping on my back a bit too. I do try the best to sleep on my side but I don't think it's going to hurt the baby to sleep on your back a bit . We're still not huge, so don't worry about it too much.If it does concern you ask your doctor.
All the best in the upcoming weeks :)

JackaMumma - Wednesday, 23 April
My OB told me your body will tell you when / if its not ok to sleep on your back. Eg with my last pregnancy one morning after sleeping on my back I woke up with vertigo. After that I knew it was time to stop sleeping on my back. Apparently there is some large vein or something that runs up beside your spine, carries blood and oxygen. If you squash this, you will know about it!! Good luck.

charlotte74 - Tuesday, 22 April
I was told by midwife that when you are in your late stage of pregnancy then its not a good idea to sleep on your back as it can stop the blood or air supply to your baby, double check with your midwife tho
